The school bus is always parked in front of our house, like a big yellow dinosaur waiting to take me to the land of knowledge. It smells like old books, and sometimes, a bit like cookies.
I like to sit by the window. It's my own little world. I watch the houses go by, each one different and interesting. There's the one with the red door, the one with the cute dog, and the one with that old tree in the front yard. Every day, I try to spot the house with the blue mailbox.
Sometimes, I imagine the houses talking. The house with the red door tells the house with the cute dog about its dreams of having a big garden. The house with the cute dog tells about the squirrels that visit every morning. They're busy making plans and sharing secrets.
But my favorite part of the bus ride is the end. When we arrive at school, the doors open, and everyone rushes out, like butterflies escaping a cocoon.
The air is fresh, filled with the smells of freshly cut grass and the excitement of learning. I take a deep breath, the air feels cool against my skin, and I feel ready to explore the world of school.
It's a long journey, this journey to learning, but it starts every day on the yellow bus.。
