It Is Being Rooted
It is unfair to say that the fear of helping strangers has been rooted in China’s traditional culture, because there is no study about this course nowadays. Thus, I prefer to say that the fear is being rooted in our culture. There are several reasons why I dare to make this statement.
First, the law now is too justice to obey. In the past, powerful authorities represented the law. Although there were a great many of corrupted officials, those good officials still helped poor and nice people. That is to say, laws were mainly based on people’s minds. Nevertheless, at present, bad people are able to manage to make use of the law to become “good”people; criminals like murderers can also provide strong evidence to prove their innocence. Therefore, instead of exhausting one’s spirit and time to prove his kindness, he would rather not touch the horrible law, for it is too complicated.
Second, educated citizens, especially college students, sometimes misunderstand individualism. China is becoming more and more international and individualism is accepted by college, even high school students gradually. I am not saying that developed countries like New Zealand, America and France are trying to ruin China’s generations. It is us students that often misunderstand the stress on individuals and the true meaning of individualism. We think we are supposed to leave other people alone and only pay attention to ourselves, but this thought is completely wrong!
Third, young people are under too much pressure. Busy life is also a vital reason which causes the result. Due to China’s large population, high priced houses, the soaring living expenses and of course, the responsibilities of supporting the family, young people walk their own ways without even a glimpse of anyone aside. They say：“I am busy, so why do I care for whether those strangers are dead or going to die?”
The solution to this new problem is easy to think out but difficult to carry out. Two ways I guess that might be efficient are recruiting more security guards and establishing more cameras in public occasions. The good need evidence to help show
their kindness while the bad fear of being destroyed by evidence. So let evidence protect these kind-hearted angels and dismiss those evils.
I believe China is able to stop the inhumanity as long as we take measures to save ourselves!。
