课时作业12:Unit 2 Healthy eating
Unit 2 Healthy eatingⅠ.阅读理解AGood health is the most valuable thing a person can have, but one cannot take good health for granted(认为……理所应当). It is important to remember that the body needs proper care in order to be healthy. There are three things that a person can do to help stay in good shape: eat right food, get enough sleep, and exercise regularly.Proper nutrition (营养) is important for good health. Your body cannot work well unless it receives the proper kind of “fuel”(燃料).Don't eat too much food with lots of sugar and fat. Eat plenty of foods high in protein (蛋白质),like meat, fish, eggs and nuts. Vegetables and fruits are very important because they provide necessary vitamins (维他命) and minerals. However, don't overeat. It is not helpful to be overweight.Getting the proper amount of sleep is also important. If you don't get enough sleep, you feel tired and easily get angry. You have no energy. Over a long period of time a little amount of sleep may even result in a change of personality (人的个性).Be sure to allow yourself from seven to nine hours of sleep each night. If you do, your body will feel strong and refreshed, and your mind will be sharp. Finally, get plenty of exercise. Exercise firms the body, strengthens the muscles, and prevents you from gaining weight. It also improves your heart and lungs. If you follow a regular exercise program, you will probably increase your lifespan (寿命).Any kind of exercise is good. Most sports are excellent for keeping the body in good shapes: basketball, swimming, bicycling, running and so on are good examples. Sports are not only good for your body, but they are enjoyable and interesting, too.If everybody, were to eat the right foods, get plenty of sleep and exercise regularly, the world would be a happier and healthier place. We would all live to be much older and wiser.1.According to the passage, ________.A.we should always keep fitB.if we were healthy, we could spend our days in doing things with less sleepC.one can eat a lot to stay in good shapeD.one needn't take any exercise if he is healthy2.In order to keep good health, ________.A.we should eat a lot of sweetsB.one needs a large amount of fatC.people should eat according to the foods nutritionD.we must try to sleep now and then3.Eating more and sleeping less ________.A.can keep healthyB.is no good for youC.gets you more energyD.will keep your personality4.The writer explains ________in this passage.A.how to eatB.the importance of doing exerciseC.how to keep healthyD.what to eat5.The title of the article should be ________.A.Eating and ExercisingB.How Vitamins Work in Man's BodyC.Staying HealthyD.Sleeping WellBAlmost every day, we discuss the topic of health, especially for kids. But what is health? “Health” means eating well, getting enough exercise, and having a healthy weight. Let's read the following rules. They can help you stay healthy.①Eat a_variety_of foods, especially fruit and vegetables. We all know that eating fruit and vegetables can help us stay healthy, but many of us only eat our favorite foods. Remember that we can only get the nutrition(营养) we need by eating different kinds of food, especially fruit and vegetables.②Drink water and milk most often. Everyone knows that water is important. Besides that, kids need plenty of calcium(钙) to grow strong bones, and milk has a lot of it. Every day, you should drink at least three cups of milk (1300 milligrams of calcium), when you are 9 years old or older. You should also try to have less sugary drinks, like soda and coca. They include a lot of sugar. Sugar just includes calories, not important nutrition.③Listen to your body. When you are eating, notice how your body feels. When your stomach feels comfortably full, stop eating. Eating too much makes you feel uncomfortable. If you do it too often, it can make you unhealthy and fat.④Limit(限制) screen time. What's screen time? It's the amount of time you spend watching TV, movies, and playing computer games. The more time you spend on these sittingdown activities, the less time you spend playing sports, like basketball, and doing other activities like bike riding and swimming. Try to spend no more than 2 hours a day on screen time.6.In this passage, “health” includes all of the following EXCEPT ________.A.eating wellB.wearing comfortablyC.having a healthy weightD.doing more exercise7.The underlined phrase “a variety of” means ________.A.plenty B.a lot ofC.the rest of D.all kinds of8.As kids, we should drink at least ________ to grow strong bones.A.three cups of milk B.four cups of milkC.two cups of milk D.one cup of milk9.What's the main idea of the passage?A.How to eat healthily.B.Eating and playing are both important.C.Advice for staying healthy.D.Health is very important.Ⅱ.完形填空The Little AngelSally jumped up the moment she saw the surgeon come out of the operating room. 高考英语一轮复习提能练(十二)Unit2Healthyeating(含解析)
Unit 2 Healthy eatingⅠ.阅读理解A(2020·东北三省四市高考模拟) Until last year,Borris would never turn down a pork steak.By the time his owner,Annemarie Formoy, entered him in the PDSA Pet Fit Club petition,he was 28kg—almost double his remended weight. Thanks to a tailored sixmonth diet and exercise,he is now 7kg lighter.Borris,at his heaviest, was not alone. The worldwide rate of pet obesity(肥胖症) lies between 22% and 44%.The reasons are fairly predictable.Owners of overweight dogs feed them more snacks and table leftovers, are more likely to have their pets present as they prepare their own meals and are less likely to walk them daily.Owners of obese cats tend to use food as a reward and play with them less. But obesity also seems to be occurring even in some wild animals that aren't being overfed or underexercised. If these findings are true, something else must be driving obesity and uncovering those could help solve our own problems with the condition.“Labradors are consistently the headline act when it es to overweight dogs,”says Eleanor Raffan,a veterinarian and geneticist. She and fellow researchers discovered that a genetic mutation(基因变异) present in around a quarter of Labradors was associated with obesity. For each copy of the mutation—which occurred in a gene called POMC—a dog was about 2kg heavier. Most of the animals the researchers studied had one copy of the mutation, but fewer had two.“These are dogs always in the kitchen when owners are preparing food, sticking around scouring_a_titbit even if there's not much chance of getting food,or eating disgusting stuff on walks,” Raffan says.“But they're not doing that because it's fun. They're doing it because they're hungry.”That's because POMC mutations disturb the brain's function of controlling food intake and energy consumption. As a result, the behaviour of these Labradors beesvery foodmotivated.语篇解读全球宠物肥胖率在22%到44%之间,弄清楚宠物肥胖的原因对人类应对肥胖问题也很有启发。

高考英语一轮复习课时提能练12Healthyeating(含解析)新人教版课时提能练(十二)Ⅰ.阅读理解(2019·福州四校联考)Have you ever felt so tired after staying up for a night that even coffee doesn't give you the energy that you need? You may have an energy drink, but the benefits of drinking one are heavily outweighed by the risks. In the past years, more and more studies have found the deadly effects of energy drinks on your bodies. The sugar, caffeine and energy supplements(添加物) in energy drinks make up a deadly mixture of ingredients that can affect your heart function and send you to the hospital!A study by the University of Bonn,Germany found that frequent consumption of energy drinks can greatly change the way your heart functions. The study went on to say that consuming energy drinks often causes significantly increased heart contractions(收缩) in adults, which has the potential of putting you at risk of irregular heartbeats. It is possible that many people are unaware of the alarming side effects of energy drinks because of the way they are labelled. Most energy drinks contain between 80 milligrams to over 350 milligrams of caffeine, sugar and energy supplements. When an energy drink is marketed as a diet supplement it may be distributed without a“nutrition facts”label, which would show the harmful supplements that are in the drink. However, even if energy drinks are Food and Drug Administration(FDA) approved, they don't have to show the number of supplements.Energy drinks may be widely available but they aren't the healthiest or safest choice for your body.Stay naturally energized, get organized and stay on top of your work so that you don't have to stay up all night to complete assigned tasks. If you'd like a natural energy boost, you could make time for a short workout, which will give you all of the energy you need!【语篇解读】本文是一篇议论文,主要论述了能量饮料带给人们的害处大于益处。

高考英语一轮总复习 课时作业12 Healthy eating高三全册英语试题
手惰市安逸阳光实验学校课时作业12 Healthy eatingⅠ.阅读理解(2015·重点中学联考)“Eat local.” It's one way to reduce human effect on the planet. Eating local means to try to buy and consume foods that are grown in places close to home. However, most of the food sold at supermarkets is not locally grown or produced. Trucks and planes deliver these foods from hundreds or thousands of miles away. During the transportation, greenhouse gases are produced, causing global warming. So the shorter the distance your foods must travel, the less the harm is done to the environment. But how do you get local food if you live in a large city, hundreds of miles away from farms ? Environmental health scientist Dickson Despommier and his students came up with the idea of a “vertical(垂直的) farm”.A vert ical farm is a glasswalled structure that could be built as tall as a skyscraper. Since the garden is built upwards, rather than outwards, it requires much less space than an ordinary farm. The world is quickly running out of room for ordinary farming. Vertical farms could be a key to this situation. Despommier imagines a 30story building with a greenhouse on every floor. The walls of the building would be clear, to allow crops to get as much sunlight as possible. Depending on a city's water resources, Despommier thinks hydroponic(水培) farming is another method for the vertical farm which needs no soil to grow plants.Despommier says the hydroponic greenhouses would use a system that would use a city's waste water and fill it with nutrition to make the crops grow. If this method works, it would provide food to a city and save millions of tons of water. The idea of a vertical farm has attracted the attention of government officials around the world. Scott Stringer, a government official from New York City, thinks the city is suitable for the vertical farming. “Obviously we don't have much land left for us,” Stringer said, “But the sky is the limit in Manhattan.”Despommier admits that there is still a lot of work to do to make vertical farms a reality. “But I think vertical farming is an idea that can work in a big way.” he says.1.Why are people advised to eat local?A.Because it means convenience to people.B.Because it can help people save a lot of money.C.Because local food has more nutrition.D.Because it is environmentally friendly.2.Which is one of the vertical farm's benefits when compared with ordinary farming?A.It produces healthier food.B.It does less harm to the cities.C.It consumes more energy of the city.D.It needs less space of the city.3.B y saying “the sky is the limit in Manhattan”, Stringer means ________.A.people can make full use of vertical space of ManhattanB.there is a limit for using empty land in ManhattanC.the height of buildings in Manhattan is limitedD.Manhattan has a great potential for development4.What can we learn about the vertical farming in the passage?A.In a vertical farm, soil may not be needed to grow plants.B.It has solved the problem of the food shortage in a big way.C.It is a 30story building with a greenhouse on every floor.D.Crops are mainly grown in the rainwater in a vertical farm.答案与解析这篇文章介绍了建议人们吃当地食物,因为对环境有好处。

The old saying “An apple a day keeps the doctor away ”is not as silly as some people think. The body needs fruit and vegetables because they contain vitamin C. Many people take extra vitamins in pill form, believing that these will make them healthy. But a good diet is made up of nourishing food and this gives all the vitamins you need. The body doesn’t need or use extra vitamins, so why waste money on them?In the modern western world, many people are too busy to bother about eating properly. They throw anything into their stomachs, eating hurriedly and carelessly. The list of illnesses caused or made worse by bad eating habits is frightening.1.“Your body has close relations with the food you eat.”It really means that ______.kinds of food you eat can be made into your bodybody is made up of the food you eatyou eat has great effect on your health。

课时作业9:Unit 2 Healthy eating
Unit 2Healthy eating(60分钟81分)Part A一、阅读理解(共8小题;每小题2分,满分16分)AIt has long been hailed(宣称) as the most crucial meal of the day, vital for getting the body going and preventing overeating later on.But breakfast may not be so vital after all,if new research is to be believed.Contrary to popular belief, the study found the first meal of the day had little impact on snacking or portion sizes later in the day.It also had no effect on metabolism(新陈代谢).The researchers, from the University of Bath, now suggest the better health of people who eat a good breakfast may be due to their general, wide diet regime(养生法).They found there was no change in metabolism after six weeks between those who ate nothing for breakfast and those who consumed 700 calories before 11 am.The major difference was that those who abstained from breakfast ate fewer calories over the whole day. This goes against the long-held theory that people who skip breakfast simply make up for it by gorging on food later on.However, breakfast eaters were likely to expend more energy—around 442 calories—by being active, mainly in the morning after eating. They also had more stable blood sugar readings, especially by the end of the trial. The research added:“The belief that breakfast is ‘the most important meal of the day’is so widespread that many people are surprised to learn that there is a lack of scientific evidence showing whether or how breakfast may directly cause changes in our health. It is certainly true that people who regularly eat breakfast tend to be slimmer and healthier but these individuals also typically follow most other recommendations for a healthy lifestyle,so have more balanced diets and take more physical exercise.”In another study published this month, researchers at the University of Alabama at Birmingham divided volunteers into three groups. One skipped breakfast, others always ate it and athird continued with their current regime.Four months later,no one in any group had lost much weight.1.According to the new research, the people who eat breakfast tend to .A.prevent overeating later onB.expend more energyC.have more balanced dietsD.lose more weight2.If you want to be healthier and slimmer, you should .A.not eat breakfastB.snack as frequently as possibleC.eat general, wide breakfastD.have a healthy lifestyle3.The underlined phrase “abstained from” in Paragraph 2 means .A.didn’t haveB.hadC.had more .had less4.The best title of the passage is .A.whether to have breakfast or notB.no expected good to have breakfastC.difference between having and not having breakfastD.healthy dietBFood serves as a form of communication in two fundamental ways.Sharing bread or other foods is a common human tradition that can promote unity and trust.Food can also have a specific meaning, and play a significant role in a family or culture’s celebrations or traditions. The foods we eat—and when and how we eat them—are often unique to a particular culture or may even differ between rural(农村的)and urban areas within one country.Sharing bread, whether during a special occasion(时刻)or at the family dinner table,is a common symbol of togetherness. Many cultures also celebrate birthdays and marriages with cakes that are cut and shared among the guests.Early forms of cake were simply a kind of bread,so this tradition hits its roots in the custom of sharing bread.Food also plays an important role in many New Year celebrations. In the southern United States, pieces of corn bread represent blocks of gold for prosperity(兴旺)in the New Year.In Greece, people share a special cake called vasilopita.A coin is put into the cake, which signifies(预示)success in the New Year for the person who receives it.Many cultures have ceremonies to celebrate the birth of a child, and food can play a significant role.In China, when a baby is one month old, families name and welcome their child in a celebration that includes giving red-colored eggs to guests. In many cultures, round foods such as grapes, bread, and moon cakes are eaten at welcome celebrations to represent family unity.Nutrition is necessary for life,so it is not surprising that food is such an important part of different cultures around the world.(2015·安徽高考)1.According to the passage, sharing bread.A.indicates a lack of foodB.can help to develop unityC.is a custom unique to rural areasD.has its roots in birthday celebrations2.What does the coin in vasilopita signify for its receiver in the New Year?A.Trust.B.Success.C.Health.D.Togetherness.3.The author explains the role of food in celebrations by.ing examplesB.making comparisonsC.analyzing causesD.describing processes4.What is the passage mainly about?A.The custom of sharing food.B.The specific meaning of food.C.The role of food in ceremonies.D.The importance of food in culture.二、语法填空(共10小题;每小题1.5分,满分15分)By “luxury(奢侈品)”,we mean “a pleasant and often expensive thing that is notneces sary”.From a 1.(history) point of view, things which were luxuries when they first came into being all became 2.(necessary) later.Anything,no matter how luxurious it is,will become a necessity, when it is 3.(wide) used. This is true of Unit 2 Healthy eating1、Go Green Without a Green ThumbIf you’re anything like me, you manage to kill absolutely every plant that comes your way. No matter how hard I try, I can’t manage to keep flowers alive for more than a few days. So I’ve made a list of plants that even I couldn’t kill and decided to share it with everyone who also lacks a green thumb.1.JadeWe commonly think of jade as a beautiful stone, but it also happens to be a plant that requires hardly any care and will give your apartment an air of elegance. There are only two things you need to do to take care of this plant:Water the plant when the soil becomes moderately dry.Wipe down the leaves every once in a while to remove dust.2.African VioletWant to add a little color to your apartme nt? That can be challenging if you don’t have a green thumb—most flowering plants require a ton of care. Fortunately, African violets are not one of those plants.Simply water them once a week and enjoy their beautiful blue, pink and purple hues! Just do your bes t to avoid getting any water on the plants’ leaves, as this can cause water spots (污渍).3.AloeAloe is also a plant that even the worst gardener among us can manage to keep alive.Step one: Acquire plant.Step two: Water it when the soil is completely dry, about every two to three weeks.Note: Aloe can be poisonous for your pet. If you have pets, make sure to only plant pet-friendly plants.4. Lucky BambooTo bring some good fortune into your apartment, purchase some lucky bamboo. This houseplant does best in dim lighting, so keep it away from windows. Other than that, all you need to do is make sure the roots are always covered in water (an inch or two should do the trick).1.What can we learn from the text?A.Jade is only a kind of beautiful stone.B.You should spray(喷洒) water on the leaves of African violet.C.Aloe is a pet-friendly plant.D.Lucky bamboo can bring good luck to you.2.Which of the following plants needs watering frequently?A.Jade.B.African violet.C.Lucky bamboo.D.Aloe.3.What is the aut hor’s purpose in writing the text?A.To introduce several plants that require little special care.B.To share with readers the author’s opinion on growing plants.C.To attract readers to buy some of their products on the list.D.To call on readers to protect the environment in daily life.2、For the 17 years my life was very happy. Then the first sad thing happened. My mother became very ill, and soon she knew that she was dying. Just before she died, she asked Elizabeth and me to go to her room. She held our hands and said, “Victor and Eliz abeth, my children, I’m very happy because you love each other, and because one day you’ll get married. Everyone in the family loves you, Elizabeth. Will you take my place in the family, my dear? I can die happy if you look after them when I have gone.”My mother died and we were very sad, because we loved her dearly. Elizabeth was brave and helped us; her sweet smile gave us some happiness in the unhappy days after my mother’s death. The time came for me to go to university. I didn’t want to leave my sad family, but we all knew that I should go. It was hard to leave, too, because the parents of my good friend Henry would not let him go to university with me. So I had gone alone. On my first day at university I met my teacher, Professor Waldman, who was one of the greatest scientists in the world. He gave a wonderful talk to all the students who were starting at the university. He ended his talk by saying, “Some of you willbecome the greatest scientists of tomorrow. You must study hard and discover everything that you can. This is why God made you intelligent—to help other people.”After the professor’s talk, I thought very carefully. I remembered the storm when I was 15; I remembered how the lightning had destroyed the tree. From then on, I wanted to use electricity to help people, and I wanted to discover the secrets of life. I decided to work on these two things.I started to work the next day. I worked very hard and soon Professor Waldman and I realized that I could learn to be a very good scientist. The professor helped me very much, and other important scientists who were his friends helped me, too. I was interested in my work and I did not take one day’s holiday during the next two years, I did not go home, and my letters to my family were very short. After two years, I had discovered many things and I built a scientific machine that was the best in the university. My machine would help me answer the most important question of all. How does life begin? Is it possible to put life into dead things? To answer these questions about life I had to learn first about death. I had to watch bodies from the moment when they died and the warm life left them. In the hospital and in the university, I watched the dying and the dead. Day after day, month after month, I followed death, so it was a dark and terrible time.I built a tall mast about 150 meters high, which is higher than the tallest building in the city, to catch lightning and send the electricity down to my machine in the lab. I believed I could use that electricity to give life to things that were dead. Then one day, the answer came to me. Suddenly I was sure that I knew the secret of life.1.Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?A.Victor did not want to leave his family because his mother died not long before.B.Elizabeth married shortly after Victor’s mother died.C.Elizabeth was a brave girl who loved Victor and gave him much help.D.Victor’s mother was very angry when she knew he loved Elizabeth.2.Victor did all the following during his research in the university EXCEPT that_______.A.he discovered many things and built a scientific machineB.he learnt much about death both in the hospitals and in the universityC.he built a tall mast to catch lightning and send the electricity down to the labD.he worked hard and took only one day’s holiday during the next two years3.According to the author, the secret of life is to_____.e electricity to cure diseasesB.build the best machine to learn about deathC.become the greatest scientist of tomorrowD.give life to things that were dead by using electricity4.Which is the correct order about the life of Victor?①Victor’s mother passed away.② Victor got help from the professor and other scientists.③ Victor went to university and attended t he professor’s talk.④ Victor found the answer to giving life to things that were dead.⑤ Victor experienced a storm, seeing the lightning destroying the tree.A.①②③④⑤B.⑤①③②④C.①③②⑤④D.⑤①②④③3、A team of engineers at Harvard University in trying to create the first robotic fly. Designed to do what a fly dos naturally, the tiny is the size of a fat housefly. Its mini wings allow it to stay in the air and perform controlled flight tasks."The added difficulty with a project like this is that actually none of its components is off the shelf and so we have to develop them all on our own/’ said Robert Wood, a Harvard engineering professor. They engineered a series of systems to start and drive the robotic fly. “The seemingly simple system which just moves the wings has a number of interdependencies (相互依赖)on the individual components, each of which individually has to perform well, but then has to be matched well to everything it d connected to,” said Wood. While this first robotic flyer is linked to a small, off-board power source, the goal is eventually to equip it with a built-in power source, so that it might someday perform daia-gathering work at rescue sites, in farmers fields or on the battlefield. "Basically it should be able to take off, land and f ly around,” he said.Wood says the design offers a new way to study flight mechanics and control at insect-scale. Yet, the power, sensing and computation technologies on board could have much broader applications.“You can start thinking about using them to answer open scientific questions, you know, to study biology in ways that would be difficult with the animal, but using these robots instead he said. "So there are a lot of technologies and open interesting scientific questions that are really what drives on a day-to-day basis.”1.What is the typical characteristic of the robotic fly?A.It's automatic.B.It's very small.C.It's controllable.D.It's quite powerful.2.We can infer from the passage that the robotic flyer can .A.act as a spy planeB.help do farm workC.fly at a very high speedD.answer many scientific questions3.What is Wood's ider about the robotic fly according to the last paragraph?A.It is highly questionable.B.It has wide practical applications.C.It gives scientists interest in flying machines.D.It points to a new direction in studying biology.4.What can be the best title for the passage?A.Harvand's Study in the Field of Insects.B.A Breakthrough in Engineering ScienceC.An Interesting Invention 一 Robotic FlyD.Robotic Fly 一 a Copy of Real Life Insect4、Dear Koko,I’ve learned about you from my amazing teacher. I think it’s fun that you can communicate with us humans by using the sign language. I’ve spent a lot of time watching you in different videos and love you from the bottom of my heart. It’s heartbreaking to learn about all of the cruel things done to gorillas (大猩猩). In Africa, for example, the killers use guns to kill your fellows for meat. They don’t understand the influence t heir actions are having on gorillas. Another thing is the loss of gorillas’ natural home, which is caused by the improved infrastructure such as building roads and airports. When we cut down trees, you become homeless. We take away your shelter and sources of food, leaving you with very little chance of survival. Some of my classmates are writing to the relevant departments about these serious problems. Hopefully these letters will make a difference during your lifetime. Over the past three months, my class has been researching on gorillas, and I’ve learned so many things. For example, I’ve learned that you have a lot of feelings similar to mine and you are always so careful with everything you do.I think that you are really worth saving. We’ve com e up with many ideas to help you and your fellows. One of the best ideas is to communicate with the President of the World Bank and have him give more financial support to the organizations for gorillas. Another idea is to make public laws on the killers. I also think we need to keep educating people about gorillas.I love writing to you and hope you can understand how important you’ve become to our class. Would it be too much to ask for a return letter?Mike1.According to the passage, Koko is probably ______.A.a killer of gorillasB.a member of the gorilla familyC.an expert on gorillasD.a governor in chargeof gorillas2.What is mainly talked about in the second paragraph?A.The problems gorillas face at present.B.The danger gorillas cause for humans.C.The unique characteristic gorillas have.D.The natural environment gorillas live in.3.The author suggests that ______.A.gorillas should be protected in nature reservesB.killers for gorillas should be legally responsibleanizations should be set up to protect gorillasD.people should make donations to gorilla protection5、根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

AA small piece of fish each day may keep the heart doctor away。
That's the finding of a study of Dutchmen in which deaths from heart disease were more than 50 percent lower among those who consumed at least an ounce of salt water fish per day compared to those who never ate fish。
The Dutch research is one of three human studies that give strong scientific support to the longheld belief that eating fish can provide health benefits, particularly to the heart.Heart disease is the number。
one killer in the United States, with more than 550,000 deaths occurring from heart attacks each year. But previous research has shown that the level of heart disease is lower in cultures that consume more fish than Americans do。

These preferences (偏爱) relate not only to food intake but also to measures of growth and can have important potential effects for efforts to change children’s diets. Many illnesses of modern society are related to poor food choices. Because children take in far more sugar and salt than recommended, which contributes to poor health, understanding the biology behind children’s preferences for these tastes is the first step necessary for reducing their intake.“Our research shows that the liking of salty and sweet tastes reflects inpart the biology of the child.”said the study leader Julie Womac. Biologymakes us like and take in calorie-rich sweet foods and sodium-rich saltyfoods, and this is especially true for children.“Growing children’s heightened preferences for sweet and salty tastes make them more easily harmed by the modern diet, which differs from the diet of our past, when salt and sugars were once rare and expensive commodities (商品).”In the study, Womac tested 108 children between 5 and 10 years old, and their mothers for salt and sweet taste preferences. The same testing method was used for both children and their mothers, who tasted broth (肉汁) that varied in salt content and fruit that varied in sugar content. The method determines taste preferences by having them compare two different levels of a taste, pick their favorite, and then compare that favorite with another, over and again until the most favorite is pointed out.Analyses of all tests showed that not only sweet and salty preferences have a close relationship with children, and higher overall than those in adults, but also children’s taste preferences are related to measures of growth and development:children who were tall for their age preferred sweeter solutions, and children with higher amounts of body fat preferred saltier soups. Analyses also indicated that higher sweet liking related to a fast bone growth, but that result needs confirmation in a larger group of children.1.Scientists believe that many children’s illnesses are caused by .A.their poor health conditionB.their incorrect food intakeC.their salty and sweet foodD.their efforts to change the diet2.Which kind of diet is good according to Julie Womac?A.The one in the past time.B.The one in modern society.C.The one that is rare.D.The one that is expensive.3.It needs to be further confirmed that .A.children’s quick bone growth may result in sweeter tasteB.children like salty and sweet tastes more than adults doC.children will get fatter if they have sweeter tastesD.children will get fatter if they have saltier soups4.What is the main idea of the passage?A.A favorite diet for both children and their mothers.B.Children’s preferences for salty and sweet tastes.C.Scientist Julie Womac and her biology study.D.Children’s diet and their health problems.Ⅳ.任务型阅读(2015·兰州高三诊断)How can you make a difference in your life?As the famous poem Youth has written,“Youth is not a time of life, it’s a state of mind.” But how can you make a difference in your life?Firstly, 1 .The skills of learning, the knowledge of learning as well as the process of learning are all wealth and treasures in our life, which make your simple life interesting.
