词义辨析 alternative,choose,pick 和 select alternative 作名词或形容词,多指两者之间的选择,常有“非此即彼”之意。 choose 是动词(choice n.),适用范围最广,可与 from 或 between 连用。它 一般指主观上的选择,还常带有最终选定的含义。 pick 作动词或名词,是口头用语,指仔细地、精心地选择,含有挑剔的意 思,一般指挑选有形的东西。 select 用作动词,语气比 choose 重,多用于正式场合,指仔细地、 审慎地精 选,强调客观性,所挑选的对象一定是同种类的。

联想拓展 (1)only if“只有”,引导状语从句,用陈述语气;only if 位于句首时,主句用 部分倒装。 You’ll succeed only if you put all your heart into your work. 你只有全心投入工作才会成功。 Only if these conditions are fulfilled can the application proceed to the next stage. 只有满足这些条件,申请才能够进入下一环节。 (2)if not 不然;要不…… Are you ready?If not,I’ll go without you. 你准备好了吗?否则,我自己去了。 (3)what if 如果……将会怎么样 What if it is true? 如果这是真的将会怎么样呢?
