Grammar——定语从句语法图解探究发现①Do you remember the girl who taught us English?②This is the place where he used to live.③Mr. Zhang, who came to see me yesterday, is an old friend of mine.④A middle­aged woman killed her husband, which frightened me very much.⑤A young man had a new girl friend, whom he wanted to impress.[我的发现]1.限制性定语从句对被修饰的先行词有限定制约的作用,使该词的含义更具体,更明确,因而不能被省略,否则句意就不完整。

2.非限制性定语从句在句中主要起补充说明的作用,非限制性定语从句与主句之间往往有逗号隔开,独立存在,省略也不会影响整个句子的意思。

一、限制性定语从句限制性定语从句,是对先行词从本质或特征上进行限制的一种定语从句,它所修饰的词代表一个(些)或一类特定的人或事、物。

限制性定语从句与被修饰词之间的关系密切,对其起限定作用,因此不可缺少,否则会影响全句的意义。

限制性定语从句前不用逗号。

引导限制性定语从句的关系代词有:who,whom,that,which,whose;关系副词有:where, when, why。

The gift (that/which) I gave to her is a pet dog.我给她的那份礼物是一只宠物狗。

(the gift 在后面从句中相当于gave的宾语成分,所以关系代词that / which可以省略。

)A man who is lazy can ’t learn much.一个懒的人学不了多少东西。

(a man 在后面从句中相当于主语成分,所以who不能省略。

主语通常由名词、代词、数词、v-ing、动词不定式或名词性从句等充当。

1. 疑问词引导的宾语从句当宾语从句是特殊疑问句时,疑问词就是引导词,这时疑问词不可省略,而且宾语从句要用陈述语序,即"疑问词+主语+谓语+其他"。

►I wonder what I should do next. 我想知道下一步我该做什么。

【警示】宾语从句的标点要根据主句的句子类型来确定。

当主句是陈述句时,句末通常用句点;当主句是疑问句时,句末通常用问号。

2. 含有宾语从句的复合句与简单句的转换含有宾语从句的复合句在一定的条件下可以转化为简单句。

(1)若主句的主语与从句的主语一致,则由疑问词引导的宾语从句可以变成"疑问词+动词不定式"的复合结构。

►I don’t know how I should do it next.=I don’t know how to do it next. 我不知道下一步应该怎样做。

(2)当主句谓语动词是see, hear, watch等时,其后的that从句常简化为"宾语+动词原形/动词-ing形式"。

►I saw some boys were playing basketball on the playground just now. I saw some boys playing basketball on the playground just now.刚才我看到一些男孩正在操场上打篮球。

(3)当主句的谓语动词是hope, agree, wish等,且主句的主语与从句的主语一致时,其后以that引导的宾语从句可简化为动词不定式结构。

►He agreed that he could help me with my English. He agreed to help me with my English.宾语从句除由引导词that,if/whether引导外还可由what,which,whom,when等引导。

1.Rule 1: be+v-ing 表________
a. 表示现在(指说话人说话时)正在发生的事情。

The sun is rapidly aging expansion.太阳正在极速衰老膨胀。

b. 表示现阶段暂时的情况,说话时动作未必正在进行。

I am reading this book these days.
我这些天在读这部小说。

(说话时并未在读,只处于在读的情况。


c. 表示发展中的或正在改变的情况,如:get, grow, become,
turn, run, go, begin等。

The earth is getting engulfed(吞没)by the disaster.
It‘s getting colder and colder. 天越来越冷了。

The leaves are turning red. 叶子在变红。

d. 与always, constantly, forever 等词连用,表示反复发生的
动作或持续存在的状态,往往带有说话人的主观色彩(赞成、
讨厌、生气等情绪)。

你老是改变主意。
