Writing Matters' Reflection
邮件落款英语作文
邮件落款英语作文1When it comes to sending emails, the sign-off at the end of the message is often underestimated in its significance! It actually plays a crucial role in leaving a lasting impression on the recipient. In business emails, a formal sign-off is of great importance. It conveys professionalism and respect. For instance, "Best regards," "Sincerely," or "Yours faithfully" are commonly used. These endings show that you take the communication seriously and are committed to maintaining a professional relationship. On the contrary, in private emails among close friends or family members, a more casual and intimate sign-off is appropriate. Something like "Love you," "Take care," or "See you soon" can convey the warmth and closeness of the relationship. It makes the communication feel more personal and friendly. So, the sign-off of an email is not just a formality. It is a powerful tool that can enhance the tone and impact of your message. Don't overlook its importance! Have you ever paid attention to this detail in your emails?2When it comes to email sign-offs, they play a significant role in conveying the emotions and intentions behind the message. For instance,in a gratitude email, a sign-off like "Thank you ever so much for your kindness and support! I am truly grateful and look forward to repaying your favor in the future." expresses deep appreciation and a sense of indebtedness. It leaves the recipient with a warm and positive feeling. On the contrary, in an apology email, a humble and sincere sign-off such as "I sincerely apologize for my mistake and the inconvenience caused. I promise to do better in the future. Please accept my heartfelt apology!" shows a sense of remorse and a determination to make amends. In a business email, a professional and concise sign-off like "Best regards" or "Sincerely" conveys respect and formality. However, in a friendly and casual email among close friends or family, something like "Love you lots!" or "Take care, dear!" adds a personal touch and closeness. So, the choice of email sign-offs is not just a matter of convention, but a powerful tool to communicate our true feelings and intentions. How important and wonderful it is to master this art!3When it comes to email sign-offs, it's essential to choose them carefully based on the recipient and the situation. For instance, when sending an email to a teacher, we should be polite and humble. Something like "Best regards" or "Sincerely yours" would be appropriate. This shows our respect and gratitude towards their guidance and knowledge. But when it's an email to a friend, we can be much more relaxed andlively. We might say "Cheers", "Take care" or even something fun like "See you soon, pal!". It creates a friendly and casual atmosphere, making the communication feel more natural and enjoyable. If the email is for a business partner, a professional and concise sign-off like "Best wishes" or "Thank you" would be suitable. It conveys our seriousness and professionalism. In conclusion, the choice of email sign-offs really matters! It can affect how the recipient perceives our message and our relationship with them. So, let's always think twice before signing off our emails. Isn't it amazing how such a small detail can have such a big impact?4When we send emails, the signature at the end may seem like a small detail, but it actually has a significant impact on the communication effect! How so? Well, imagine you receive an email with a friendly and polite signature like "Best regards, [Your Name]". Doesn't it make you feel more inclined to respond promptly and positively? Such a proper signature conveys warmth and respect, creating a pleasant atmosphere for the interaction. On the contrary, if the signature is something like "No more nonsense from me, [Your Name]" or simply without any signature at all, it could potentially cause confusion or even give a negative impression. You might wonder if the sender is being impatient or indifferent. This could lead tomisunderstandings and reduce your willingness to reply or continue the communication. So, it's clear that the choice of email signature is not something to be taken lightly. A well-chosen signature can enhance the connection between the sender and the recipient, while an inappropriate one might undermine the entire message. Isn't it astonishing how such a tiny aspect can have such a big influence? We should always pay attention to this detail to ensure effective and smooth communication through emails!5In the vast landscape of communication, the email signature holds significant importance. It is not merely a formality but a reflection of cultural nuances and professional etiquette. Consider the differences in business email signatures between the East and the West. In the Western business world, it is common to see a straightforward combination of the name, position, and contact details. For instance, "John Doe, Sales Manager,+1234567890,*******************".Thissimplicityand directness convey efficiency and clarity! However, in the Chinese business context, there might be additional elements such as polite phrases expressing respect or gratitude.Different industries also have their unique requirements for email signatures. In the technology sector, a signature might include links to social media profiles or professional blogs to showcase expertise. But inthe legal field, a more formal and conservative approach is adopted, often with detailed contact information and perhaps the name of the law firm.Isn't it fascinating how these small details can vary so much based on culture and industry? Understanding these differences is crucial for effective communication in our globalized world. So, the next time you compose an email, think carefully about your signature!。
如何面对舆论和他人的评价英语作文
如何面对舆论和他人的评价英语作文In the realm of human existence, we encounter a tapestry woven with intricate threads of societal norms and expectations. Amidst this intricate web, we often find ourselves navigating the turbulent waters of public opinion and the relentless scrutiny of others' evaluations. These external forces can exert a profound influence on our self-perception, our choices, and our overall well-being.The weight of public opinion can bear down upon us like a suffocating blanket, shaping our actions and decisions in an attempt to conform to perceived societal standards. We may find ourselves censoring our thoughts, suppressing our individuality, and altering our behavior in accordance with the unspoken rules and expectations of the collective. This pressure to conform can stifle our creativity, hinder our personal growth, and rob us of our authentic selves. Moreover, the relentless barrage of others' evaluations can penetrate our defenses and leave us feeling vulnerableand insecure. We may become overly self-conscious,constantly seeking external validation and approval. Ourself-worth may become contingent upon the opinions of others, leading to a fragile and unstable sense of identity. The fear of negative judgment can paralyze us, preventingus from taking risks, expressing our true feelings, or pursuing our aspirations. However, amidst this torrent of external influences, it is imperative that we cultivate resilience and forge an unwavering belief in our own self-worth. The following strategies can serve as a compass in navigating the treacherous waters of public opinion and others' evaluations:1. Cultivate Self-Awareness: The first step in countering the sway of public opinion is to cultivate adeep understanding of our own values, beliefs, and aspirations. By engaging in introspective reflection, wecan identify what truly matters to us and what aligns with our authentic selves. This self-awareness provides a solid foundation upon which we can make choices that are inharmony with our own convictions, regardless of external pressures.2. Develop Critical Thinking Skills: In an era awash with information and opinions, it is essential to develop critical thinking skills to discern the validity and reliability of information. We must not passively accept public opinion as gospel truth but rather question its sources, scrutinize its evidence, and consider alternative perspectives. This critical thinking will empower us to form our own informed opinions and resist the blind acceptance of prevailing narratives.3. Seek Support from Trusted Individuals: Surround yourself with a network of supportive individuals who value you for who you are, not for your adherence to societal norms. These trusted confidants can provide a sounding board for your thoughts and emotions, offer constructive feedback, and help you maintain a balanced perspective when faced with external criticism.4. Practice Self-Compassion: Treat yourself with thesame kindness and understanding you would offer to a close friend. Recognize that it is human to make mistakes and to experience setbacks. Forgive yourself for your shortcomings and focus on learning from your experiences. Self-compassion will bolster your resilience and prevent you from being overly affected by negative evaluations.5. Remember the Impermanence of Public Opinion: Public opinion is a fickle and ever-changing force. What is popular today may be forgotten tomorrow. By recognizing the transient nature of public opinion, we can avoid becoming overly attached to others' evaluations. This understanding will allow us to maintain our composure and stay true to ourselves, even in the face of societal pressure.6. Focus on Personal Growth: Instead of dwelling on external evaluations, shift your focus towards personal growth and self-improvement. Engage in activities that challenge you, expand your knowledge, and enhance your skills. By investing in your own growth, you will cultivate a strong sense of purpose and fulfillment, which will ultimately diminish the impact of others' opinions.7. Practice Mindfulness: Mindfulness techniques can help you cultivate a present-moment awareness that frees you from the grip of intrusive thoughts and negative self-talk. By focusing on the present moment, you can observe your thoughts and feelings without judgment, allowing them to pass through your mind without becoming entangled in them. This practice will strengthen your resilience and enable you to respond to external evaluations with greater equanimity.8. Seek Professional Help if Needed: If you find yourself struggling to cope with the weight of public opinion or others' evaluations, do not hesitate to seek professional help. A therapist can provide a safe and supportive space to explore your feelings, develop coping mechanisms, and challenge negative thought patterns. In conclusion, navigating the complexities of public opinion and others' evaluations requires a combination of self-awareness, critical thinking, resilience, and a unwavering belief in our own self-worth. By embracing thesestrategies, we can forge a path that is authentically our own, free from the shackles of societal expectations and the fear of negative judgment. Remember, our true value lies not in the opinions of others but in our own unique contributions to the world.。

八下英语第五单元作文一些不愉快的回忆
八下英语第五单元作文一些不愉快的回忆全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1Some Unpleasant MemoriesDo you ever have those moments in life where you just want to bury your head in the sand and forget about something that happened? Those memories that make you cringe and wish you could go back in time and do things differently? Yeah, I've had plenty of those. Let me tell you about a few of my most unpleasant memories that still haunt me to this day.The Dreaded School PlayI think one of the worst memories I have is from my school play back in 4th grade. We were doing a production of "The Three Little Pigs," and for some reason, I was cast as the Big Bad Wolf. I'm not sure why they chose me for that role because I was a pretty shy kid, but there I was, donning a furry gray costume that made me sweat like a pig (no pun intended).Anyway, the night of the play came, and I was backstage, shaking like a leaf. I could hear the audience out there, and itsounded like there were a million people. My heart was racing, and my palms were sweaty. When it was finally my turn to go on stage, I froze. Completely froze. I just stood there, staring out at the sea of faces, unable to move or speak. After what felt like an eternity, one of the teachers had to come and gently nudge me to get me going. I mumbled my lines so quietly that no one could hear me, and I'm pretty sure I messed up the order of events. It was a total disaster. To make matters worse, when I was supposed to huff and puff and blow the houses down, I accidentally spit all over the front row of the audience. I wanted to curl up and die right then and there. The Disastrous HaircutAnother unpleasant memory that still makes me shudder is the time my mom took me to get a haircut when I was about 7 years old. Now, let me preface this by saying that my mom is an amazing woman, but she's never been the most fashion-forward person in the world. So, there we were at the hair salon, and my mom was trying to explain to the stylist what kind of haircut she wanted for me. She kept using phrases like "a nice bowl cut" and "something that will stay out of his eyes." The stylist looked a bit skeptical, but she went ahead and did as my mom asked. When she spun me around to face the mirror, I almost didn't recognize myself. My hair was cut in this perfectly round, mushroom-shaped dome that made me look like I had a giant helmet on my head. I remember trying not to cry as I looked at my reflection. To make matters worse, my mom seemed delighted with the haircut. She kept gushing about how "handsome" and "practical" it was. I, on the other hand, was mortified. I had to go to school the next day looking like that, and I was mercilessly teased by all the other kids. It took months for my hair to grow back to a somewhat normal length, and I vowed never to let my mom pick my haircuts again. The Lunch Box IncidentLast but not least, there was the infamous "lunch box incident" that still makes me cringe to this day. It was during recess in 2nd grade, and I had brought my favorite lunch box to school – the one with the cool robot design on it.As I was sitting on the playground, eating my sandwich, one of the older kids came over and snatched my lunch box out of my hands. He started taunting me, saying things like, "Ooh, look at the baby with his wittle wunch box!" and making fun of me in front of everyone.I tried to get my lunch box back, but the kid was bigger and stronger than me. He held it up high, just out of my reach, and kept laughing at me. In a moment of desperation (and probably not my brightest move), I reached up and tried to grab the lunch box back.In the struggle, the lunch box slipped out of the kid's hands and went flying through the air. It landed with a sickening thud right on the pavement, and the metal latch popped open, spilling my lunch all over the ground. My sandwich was smashed, my chips were crushed, and my juice box had exploded, creating a sticky mess everywhere. The older kid just laughed and walked away, leaving me there with my ruined lunch and my beloved lunch box dented and broken. I remember sitting on the ground, trying not to cry as I cleaned up the mess, feeling humiliated and hungry. Those are just a few of the unpleasant memories that still haunt me from my elementary school days. I'm sure we all have moments like that – times when we felt embarrassed, humiliated, or just plain unlucky. But you know what? Those moments help shape us and make us stronger. They teach us valuable lessons about resilience, perseverance, and not taking ourselves too seriously. So, while those memories might still make me cringe a little, I can look back on them now and laugh. They're just part of the journey of growing up and learning to navigate the ups and downs of life. And hey, at least I have some good stories to tell my grandkids one day, right?篇2Some Unpleasant MemoriesI know I'm still young, but I've had my fair share of unpleasant memories that have stuck with me over the years. Even though they weren't fun to experience, they've taught me valuable lessons about life, and I've grown from them. Let me share a few of those not-so-great memories with you.One of my earliest unpleasant memories was from when I was in kindergarten. It was around lunchtime, and we were all sitting at our tiny tables, getting ready to eat our packed lunches.I had brought a peanut butter and jelly sandwich that day, which was one of my favorites. However, as soon as I took a bite, I realized something was terribly wrong. My throat started to feel tight, and it became hard to breathe. Turns out, I had developed a peanut allergy, and no one knew about it until that day. The teacher had to call an ambulance, and I ended up spending thenight in the hospital. It was a scary experience for a five-year-old, but it taught me the importance of being aware of allergies and communicating them to others.Another unpleasant memory that stands out is from when I was in third grade. We had a class field trip to the local natural history museum, which was supposed to be a fun and educational day. However, things took a turn for the worse when I got separated from my group. One minute I was looking at the dinosaur exhibit, and the next, I couldn't find my classmates or teacher anywhere. I wandered around the museum, feeling lost and scared, until a security guard finally found me and helped me locate my class. It was a relief to be reunited with everyone, but the experience of being lost and alone in a big museum was terrifying at the time. It taught me the importance of staying close to your group and being aware of your surroundings. One of the most unpleasant memories I have is from when I was in fifth grade. It was during recess, and a group of older kids thought it would be fun to pick on me. They started calling me names and making fun of the way I looked. At first, I tried to ignore them, but they just kept going, and eventually, I couldn't hold back the tears. I ran to the teacher on duty, feeling embarrassed and hurt. The bullies got in trouble, but theexperience left me feeling self-conscious and insecure for a long time. It taught me the importance of standing up for myself and not letting others bring me down with their words or actions.Despite these unpleasant memories, I've learned valuable lessons from each of them. The peanut allergy incident taught me about being aware of my health and communicating important information to others. Getting lost at the museum taught me the importance of staying close to my group and being aware of my surroundings. And the bullying incident taught me the importance of standing up for myself and not letting others bring me down. While these memories were unpleasant at the time, they've helped shape me into the person I am today. They've made me stronger, more resilient, and more aware of the challenges that life can bring. I'm grateful for the lessons they've taught me, even though the experiences themselves were difficult. As I continue to grow and experience more of life, I'm sure there will be more unpleasant memories to come. But I'll face them head-on, learn from them, and use them as opportunities to become an even better version of myself. Because at the end of the day, it's not the unpleasant memories that define us, but how we choose to respond to them and grow from them.篇3Unpleasant MemoriesHi everyone! My name is Lily, and today I want to share some not-so-happy memories with you. We all have those moments that we would rather forget, right? Well, here are a few of mine. One of my most unpleasant memories happened when I was in Grade 3. It was a bright sunny day, and we had a field trip to the zoo. I was so excited because I love animals! But guess what?I accidentally tripped over my own shoelaces and fell right into a puddle of mud. Can you imagine? I was covered from head to toe! Everyone laughed at me, and I felt so embarrassed. But looking back, it's kind of funny now.Another not-so-great memory was when I had to give a presentation in front of the whole class. I was in Grade 4, and we had to talk about our favorite hobbies. I chose to talk about playing the piano because I love music. However, as soon as I stood up, my mind went blank. I couldn't remember anything! I stumbled through my presentation, and my classmates looked confused. It was really embarrassing, but my friends were supportive and cheered me up afterward. One more unpleasant memory was during a sports day event. I'm not the best at sports, but I always try my best. We had a relay race, and I was excited to participate. However, when it was my turn to run, I tripped and fell flat on my face. Ouch! It hurt a lot, and I got a few scratches. Everyone stopped to see if I was okay, but I felt so embarrassed. Even though I didn't win the race, my friends helped me up and told me it's just a small setback. These memories might not be the happiest, but they taught me some valuable lessons. I learned that it's okay to make mistakes and have embarrassing moments. It's all part of growing up and learning from our experiences. The important thing is to stay positive and not let these moments define us.Nowadays, I can laugh about these memories and share them with others. It's a reminder that life is full of ups and downs, and it's how we handle them that matters. So, let's embrace both the good and the not-so-good memories because they make us who we are! That's all for now. Thanks for listening to my not-so-pleasant memories. Remember, it's okay to have embarrassing moments. They make life interesting!篇4Unpleasant MemoriesHello everyone! Today, I want to share with you somenot-so-happy memories from my past. Life isn't always rainbows and butterflies, and sometimes we have to face difficult situations. These memories have taught me important lessons and made me stronger. So, let's dive into my not-so-pleasant memories! One of the worst memories I have is from when I was in the fifth grade. It was a sunny morning, and I was excited about going to school. Little did I know that this day would turn out to be one of the most unpleasant experiences of my life. As soon as I entered the classroom, I realized that I had forgotten to bring my homework. My heart sank, and I felt a lump in my throat. Our teacher was strict, and I knew I would be in trouble. When it was time for homework submission, my teacher asked us to pass our papers to the front. I had no choice but to explain the situation to her. Unfortunately, instead of understanding, she scolded me in front of the whole class. I felt embarrassed and humiliated. It was a tough lesson for me to always double-check my bag before leaving for school.Another not-so-pleasant memory I have is about a school sports event. I was really excited to participate in the running race. I had been practicing for weeks and had high hopes. However, on the day of the race, I tripped and fell just a few meters after the start line. It was painful, and I felt tears welling up in my eyes. I wanted to give up, but I remembered my parents' advice to never quit. So, I gathered my courage, got up, and continued running. Though I didn't win the race, I learned the importance of perseverance and not letting failure define me.One more memory that I would like to share is about a friendship gone wrong. I had a best friend named Emily. We used to do everything together and share our secrets. But one day, she started ignoring me and hanging out with someone else. I felt betrayed and hurt. I didn't understand why she would do that to me. It made me realize that friendships can change, and people may not always be who we think they are. It was a tough lesson, but it helped me become more cautious while choosing my friends and value the ones who truly care about me.Although these memories were not pleasant, they have taught me valuable lessons. They have made me stronger, more resilient, and wiser. Life is full of ups and downs, and it'simportant to learn from both the good and the bad experiences. These memories have shaped me into who I am today.Remember, my dear friends, even if you face unpleasant memories or situations, keep your chin up, learn from them, and move forward. It's not like I want to dwell on bad things that happened, but maybe getting it out will be good for me. I've had my fair share of unhappy experiences unfortunately. One of my most unpleasant memories is from a few years ago when I was around 10 years old. It was right before summer vacation was going to start. I was really looking forward to not having school and just getting to play outside all day. But then something terrible happened that put a dark cloud over those sunny days.It was a Friday after school and I was walking home alone. I lived pretty close so my parents let me walk by myself as long as I went straight home. As I was walking down the sidewalk, I saw these older kids, maybe 12 or 13, hanging out on the corner. I didn't think much of it and just kept walking. But then one of them said something rude to me. I ignored it at first, but then another one of them purposely bumped into me hard as I passed by. That's when they all started laughing at me and calling me names.I started walking faster to get away from them, but they followed behind me making fun of me and saying really meanthings. A couple of them even threw little rocks or sticks at my back. I was starting to get really scared at this point. Finally, I saw a woman walking a dog up ahead and I basically ran up to her crying because I was so upset. The bullies saw her and took off down a side street thankfully. The nice woman helped me and walked me the rest of the way home. When I got there, I was just bawling to my mom about what happened. She had to calm me down and gave me a big hug. I was pretty shaken up the rest of that day and didn't even want to go outside and play. My mom said she was going to call the parents of those bullies but I'm not sure if she ever did. It was just such a horrible experience getting harassed like that for no reason when I was little and it made me scared to walk places alone for a long time after that.Another really unpleasant memory was when I failed a math test in 6th grade. I had studied really hard for it too, but I just froze up during the test and couldn't remember anything. Maybe I was too nervous or something, but it was just terrible. When the teacher handed back the graded tests a few days later, I felt absolutely sick when I saw that I got a 49% on it. That was like an F- and one of the worst grades I had ever gotten.I remember putting my head down on my desk when I saw that failing grade because I was so upset and embarrassed. A couple of the mean kids in my class started snickering and making fun of me for failing. The teacher had to tell them to be quiet. I felt so dumb and like I had let my parents down because they were always pushing me to do well in math. When I got home that day, I had to sadly show them the test and tell them about my awful grade. They weren't mad really, but I could tell they were disappointed in me. My dad made me stay inside and re-do all the problems I got wrong over and over again that weekend while my friends went out to play. It was just terrible.I worked really hard after that studying math every night and drilling myself so I wouldn't fail another test. And I did a lot better after that. But having that awful failing grade and everyone seeing it was so humiliating. I've mostly blocked out the details, but I just remember the sinking feeling in my stomach when I saw that 49% on the test. Definitely one of my most unpleasant academic memories without a doubt. One kind of funny unpleasant memory I have was when I accidentally kicked my soccer ball over the fence into the neighbor's yard during a game with my friends. We all took turns trying to throw rocks or sticks over to knock the ball back, butthe fence was too high. We couldn't get the ball to come back over to our side no matter what we did.So finally, we all had to sheepishly go knock on the neighbor's door and explain what happened. This crabby old man answered and you could tell he was not pleased at all about the ball landing in his yard. We apologized over and over again and asked pretty please if he could get the ball for us. But he just glared at us kids and gruffly said "Nope! You all shouldn't have been kicking that ball near my yard in the first place. Now you've lost it forever!"Then he just turned around and went back inside, shutting the door on us. We were all stunned and I remember my friend Tanner almost started crying because that was his brand new soccer ball his parents had just bought him. We had to go tell all our moms and dads what happened and they did not seem too happy about us disturbing the neighbor and losing the ball. My mom ended up having to go over and knock on the door to speak to the grumpy man herself to get the ball back finally. I felt so bad about the whole thing and it was definitely an unpleasant experience losing that ball and dealing with the annoyed neighbor. We learned our lesson about being way more careful about where we kicked balls after that!So those are some of my most unpleasant memories - getting bullied walking home, failing that awful math test, and losing the soccer ball in the cranky neighbor's yard. Definitely not my fondest moments! I tried not to dwell too much on the details because I don't like remembering how bad I felt during those times. But I guess reflecting on them a little is okay and could maybe help me avoid similar situations in the future. Dealing with bullies, doing poorly on a test, and disturbing neighbors are just realities of life sometimes unfortunately. At least I (hopefully) learned some valuable lessons from those unpleasant experiences as difficult as they were. I just have to focus on making new, much happier memories going forward!篇6Unpleasant MemoriesHello everyone! My name is Timmy, and today I want to share some unpleasant memories with you. It's not always rainbows and sunshine, right? So, let's dive into mynot-so-happy experiences! One of my not-so-great memories happened when I was in the 8th grade. It was a sunny morning, and I was excited about going to school. Little did I know that I had forgotten tocomplete my homework! As soon as the teacher walked into the classroom, she announced a surprise homework check. My heart sank, and I felt like hiding under my desk. It was embarrassing to be the only one without the homework.Another not-so-pleasant memory was during a school sports event. I'm not the most athletic person, but I always try my best. On that day, we had a relay race, and I was chosen to be part of the team. I was nervous but determined. As the race started, I ran as fast as I could, but unfortunately, I tripped and fell right in front of everyone. The whole school burst into laughter, and I felt so embarrassed. It took a while for me to gather the courage to participate in sports events again. One more not-so-happy memory took place during a school field trip. We went to a museum to learn about history. I was excited because I love history, but things didn't go as planned. While exploring the exhibits, I accidentally knocked over a display and broke a precious artifact. The museum staff were not happy, and my classmates were disappointed. I felt awful and apologized sincerely, but the damage was done. It taught me to be more careful in the future. There was also a time when I had a disagreement with my best friend, Sarah. We used to do everything together, but oneday, we had an argument over a silly misunderstanding. We both said hurtful things to each other and stopped talking for weeks. It was a lonely and sad time. Eventually, we realized that our friendship was more important than our differences, and we made up. But the memory of that fight still lingers in my mind.Lastly, I remember a time when I had to give a presentation in front of the whole class. Public speaking has always made me nervous, but this time it was worse. I stumbled over my words, forgot important points, and my face turned bright red. It felt like the longest five minutes of my life. Although my classmates were supportive and clapped at the end, I couldn't help but feel embarrassed and disappointed in myself. These memories might not be the happiest, but they have taught me valuable lessons. They have shown me that it's okay to make mistakes and that everyone has their ups and downs. They have also helped me grow stronger and learn how to handle difficult situations. Life is full of both pleasant and unpleasant moments, and it's how we deal with them that shapes us into better individuals. So, my friends, don't let these not-so-happy memories bring you down. Embrace them, learn from them, and keep movingforward with a positive attitude. After all, it's the combination of joy and sorrow that makes life truly meaningful.Thank you for listening to my stories. May we all have more happy memories than unpleasant ones in the future!Yours sincerely,TimmyWord Count: 437 words。

As I continue toreflect on my experiences and insights, I am confident that I will continue to grow and improve as an individual, becoming better at what I do and who I am.。
我的反思作文100字英语试卷的
我的反思作文100字英语试卷的全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1My Reflection on the English ExamI just took my English exam and I have some thoughts I want to write down while they're still fresh in my mind. The exam was really hard! I studied a lot but there were still some questions that stumped me. I'll go through each section and share what I was thinking.WritingThe writing prompt asked us to write a letter to our future selves ten years from now. I thought that was a fun idea! I wrote about the things I like to do now, like playing soccer and reading comics. I described my best friends and my favorite subjects in school. I wonder if I'll still enjoy those same things when I'm older?I tried to use a lot of descriptive language to paint a picture with my words. I included some dialouge too, like when I wrote about that funny thing my friend Billy said last week on theplayground. Showing instead of just telling makes things more interesting to read.In my closing paragraph, I imagined what life might be like ten years from now. Will I have bigger dreams and responsibilities? I told my future self that no matter what, I hope I'll always work hard and be a good person. I really meant that!VocabularySome of the vocabulary words on the test were pretty tricky. There were a few I didn't recognize at all. Like what does "querulous" even mean? I tried to use context clues and roots to figure out the meanings, but I probably missed some. There were also some words I knew but couldn't quite remember the precise definitions for. Like is "dubious" almost the same as "doubtful" or slightly different? Instead of leaving it blank, I wrote down my best guess. Hopefully I got some partial credit! In the sentences completing section, I kept rereading each one to make sure the word I picked made proper sense. It's easy to put a word you know in a sentence, but tempting to pick one you recognize even if it doesn't 100% fit.GrammarThe grammar questions are usually the section I feel most comfortable with. All the lessons on parts of speech, verb tenses, punctuation and such have gotten drilled into my head over the years. I love finding and correcting errors!Although this time, there were a couple questions using some rules I wasn't as familiar with. Like when to properly use the subjunctive mood? That's some advanced stuff we haven't covered yet. I had to take anneducated guess on those. There were some questions about passive voice too, which I got mixed up at times. I know it's better to rephrase sentences intoactive voice when possible because it's more straightforward. But passive voice is still acceptable in certain situations too. I tried my best to identify which was which.Reading ComprehensionOkay, I have to admit, I struggled a bit with the reading passages and questions. The first one was mostly straightforward - it was just a short story about a boy and his dog. But then there were a couple non-fiction passages that really tested me.One was about the invention of the steam engine, with all these far-out vocabulary words about machinery and industrialization. And another was on ancient Egyptian religiouspractices and different names of gods. My brain was doing knots trying to keep everything straight! On questions like that, I tried going back to find the relevant quotes or details from the passages to support my answer choices. But sometimes, even when I felt like I understood the main idea, those specific questions just completely stumped me. It was like the authors was speaking a whole different language!Overall ThoughtsBy the time I got to the last few questions, I have to admit I was starting to feel burnt out. It was hard to keep full focus after an hour and a half of non-stop reading and problem solving. A couple times I had to stop and take some deep breaths when I felt myself getting frustrated. There were definitely some questions I wasn't sure about at all. But I worked through them little by little instead of giving up. That's a strategy my teacher taught - if youdon't know something, make your best guess then circle it to come back to later if time allows. At least put something down! When I finally turned in my test, I felt reliefmixed with being pretty tired. All that thinking and writing for so long was draining! But overall, while it was challenging, I feel okay about my effort. Ididn't leave any questions blank and gave it my full concentration. After getting some rest, maybe I'll go back and review some of the concepts I was unsure about, like those vocabulary words. Tests are a great way to identify the areas you need to keep working on. As long as you learn from your mistakes, that's what matters most. That's my full reflection! I'm curious to see what my score ends up being. Whatever it is, I gave my best work and that's what counts. Here's hoping my future self appreciates that, ten years from now!篇2My Reflection on the English TestI'm not going to lie, the English test we just took was really hard! I studied a lot for it, but there were still some parts that stumped me. I guess that's just how tests go sometimes. Even though it was challenging, I'm glad I put in the effort to prepare as much as I could. The reading comprehension section was probably the toughest part for me. I've gotten better at reading over the years, but some of those passages were super long with difficult vocabulary words I wasn't familiar with. I tried my best to use context clues, but it's not always easy when the context itself is hard to fully understand. I definitely need to work on building my reading stamina and vocabulary more. The writing section was a mixed bag. I felt pretty confident about the grammar and mechanics questions. I've always been a stickler for using proper punctuation and capitalization. The sentence structure questions were manageable too. But that essay prompt...yikes! The prompt asked us to write a persuasive essay about which after-school activity the school should fund: art, music, or sports. I chose music because I'm in the school band and love it. However, getting my thoughts organized and formulating a coherent argument was really tough. I know the importance of having a clear thesis statement, giving specific examples, anticipating counterarguments, and writing a strong conclusion. Putting all those elements together in a timed essay setting isn't easy though. My final essay felt a bit rambly and all over the place. I'll have to spend more time practicing timed essay writing. As for the listening section, I've come a long way in that area but still struggle at times. Understanding audio recordings andvideos with different accents and spoken at a natural pace is hard. I tend to miss key details because I get hung up on words or phrases I don't comprehend right away. By the time I've processed one part, the recording has already moved on to new information. The listening exercises we did in class definitely helped prepare me, but audio comprehension is something I need to keep working on consistently. The part of the test I felt best about was the speaking section. We had to answer questions, describe pictures, and engage in a roleplay scenario. Speaking has always been one of my stronger suits when it comes to English. I try to speak confidently and clearly, using proper intonation and pronunciation. There's always room for improvement with vocabulary and grammar, but I think I did a decent job overall with the speaking tasks. It helps that I really enjoy English class and don't get overly nervous about the oral components. Now that the test is over, I'm going to go over my strengths and weaknesses carefully. For the areas I struggled with, I'll look for new strategies and extra practice materials to improve. For example, I could read more challenging books, keep a vocabulary journal, do timed writing drills, and listen to podcasts or audio books in English. I'm just a fourth grader, so I know Ihave a long road ahead when it comes to fully mastering English. However, I'm committed to putting in the hard work because I understand how important strong English skills are for my future. This test was a great wake-up call about which English skills need extra attention. With focus and perseverance, I'll be better prepared for the next evaluation.Tests can be super stressful, but they also provide great opportunities to gauge our progress and identify our growing edges. I didn't get a perfect score this time, but that's okay. What matters is that I learn from my mistakes and keep chipping away at my English abilities bit by bit. Progress is rarely linear, but if I stay motivated and proactive about improving, I'll eventually get where I want to be. This test might have been tough, but I'm tougher. Bring on the next challenge!篇3My Reflections on the English TestPhew! That English test was quite a challenge. When Mrs. Thompson handed it out, I felt a little nervous flutter in my tummy. But I took a deep breath and reminded myself of all the hard work I had put in studying for this exam. The first section was on vocabulary, and I was pretty confident about that part. We had spent weeks memorizing those word lists, making flashcards, and practicing with fun games like Hang-Man and Scrabble. I tried my best to recall the definitions and spell each word correctly.Next up was reading comprehension, which has always been my favorite part of English class. I love getting lost in a good story or learning about exciting new topics through passages. This time, the test had a really cool article about deep-sea creatures that glow in the dark! As I read through the questions, I tried to go back to the text and find the evidence to support my answers. The writing portion made me a bit anxious though. We had to write a short narrative essay about a memorable summer day. My mind went blank at first, but then I remembered that amazing trip to the beach last July. I closed my eyes and tried to picture every little detail – the salty air, the warmth of the sand between my toes, the sound of the crashing waves. Once I had the sensory details in my mind, the words started flowing from my pencil. I made sure to include an engaging introduction, descriptive body paragraphs, and a reflective conclusion.Lastly, we had a grammar section that covered all the rules we had learned this year about verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation. I tried my hardest to read through each sentence carefully and apply what I had studied. A few of the questions definitely stumped me, but I made my best educated guess. When the test period was finally over, I felt a huge wave of relief wash over me. As I turned in my exam booklet, I couldn't help but feel proud of all the effort I had put into preparing. Sure, there were some tough spots, but I gave it my absolute all. Now, I'm just hoping and praying that all that hard work paid off with a good score! No matter what though, I know that taking this English test has helped me become a stronger reader, writer, and student overall. The skills I've gained will benefit me for years to come.Mrs. Thompson always tells us that it's important to reflect on our experiences, both the successes and the struggles. That way, we can learn, grow, and improve for next time. As I think back on this test, a few key lessons come to mind:First, consistent practice and using active strategies like flashcards really does help cement new knowledge. All thosevocabulary games and writing exercises made a big difference when it came time to apply those skills on the test.Secondly, I need to work on better managing my test anxiety. My nerves definitely got the better of me during the writing portion when my mind went blank initially. Maybe some deep breathing exercises could help me stay focused and calm next time.Additionally, time management is something I could improve on. I found myself having to rush through the grammar section at the end to ensure I could attempt every question before time was up. Breaking up my time more effectively between sections will be crucial for future tests. Most importantly though, this experience reminded me that giving my best effort is what truly matters, not just the end score. I'm really proud of how hard I worked to prepare and how diligently I tried on every section, even the parts I found challenging. That's something no test grade could ever take away from me.Overall, while this English exam stressed me out a bit, I'm glad I had the opportunity to demonstrate篇4My Reflections on the 100 Word English ExamWow, that 100 word English exam was really hard! I've been learning English for a few years now, but putting all those words together into good sentences is still super difficult for me. I tried my best, but I'm not sure if I did very well or not.I felt pretty good about the first part where we had to write a short description about our families. I wrote about my mom, dad, older brother Jake, and my cute little puppy Cookie. I used some vocabulary words like "loving," "hard-working," and "rambunctious" to describe them. Hopefully I used those bigger words correctly! The second part asked us to write step-by-step instructions, and I chose to write about how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. That's been one of my favorite snacks ever since I was a tiny kid. I included details like getting all the ingredients out, spreading the peanut butter and jelly, and cutting off the crustswith a plastic knife. I felt pretty confident about that one. Then we got to the super hard part - writing a short story! My brain was spinning just thinking about how to make up an entire story and fit it into just 100 words. I decided to write about a brave little puppy who got lost in the woods but found his way back home in the end. I really like stories with animal characters. In my story, I tried to use some descriptive words to set the scene in the dark, scary forest. I talked about the puppy sniffing the ground and following a trail of crumbs just like in those fairy tales we read in class. When he finally saw his doghouse, I said he let out a "joyful yip" and ran as fast as his little legs could carry him. Hopefully Mrs. Robertson liked my creative word choices!I also threw in a variety of sentences like statements, questions, and exclamations to make it more interesting. Remembering to use capitals, punctuation, and all those grammar rules was really tough when you only have 100 words though. I probably made some mistakes there.Overall, I think I followed the instructions for the exam pretty well by including descriptive details, using a variety of vocabulary, and organizing my writing into paragraphs and complete sentences. But who knows if I truly understood everything we've learned so far and expressed it correctly? Writing is hard! All I can do is try my best. Mrs. Robertson is always telling us that tests are just one way to show what you know, and it's the effort that matters most. She says mistakes are normal when you're learning, and we shouldn't be afraid to take risks and keep practicing. I'll just have to wait and see what she thought of my 100 words.Maybe I'll do better on the next exam. Or maybe I didn't do as badly as I think! I tend to be a bit hard on myself. Either way, I'm proud of myself for giving it an honest effort and doing the best job I could. That's whatcounts in the end, right?I just need to keep my chin up, pay attention in class, and keep working hard to improve my English skills. One day, writing those 100 words will be a breeze! Mrs. Robertson says practice makes progress, so I'll just keep on practicing. If I never quit trying, I'll get there eventually.篇5My ReflectionI just finished taking a big English test and I have a lot of thoughts swirling around in my head. Tests are always kind of scary, even when you study really hard. I spent weeks getting ready for this one – making flashcards, doing practice questions, meeting with my tutor. My parents kept encouraging me and reminding me how important English is if I want to travel the world and have a career where I can communicate with people from all over. I know they're right, but that doesn't make testing any less nerve-wracking!The writing section was probably the hardest part for me. We had to write a whole essay about our favorite book. I chose Charlotte's Web because I love that classic story about the friendship between the spider and the pig. But getting all my thoughts organized and making sure I included good examples and details was really challenging. I ran out of time at the end and didn't get to proofread and polish my conclusion as much as I wanted. I really have to keep working on managing my time better for timed writings. The reading comprehension passages were pretty tricky too. There was one about the rainforest that used a lot of vocabulary words I hadn't learned yet. I tried to infer the meanings from the context clues, but I definitely got some of those questions wrong. Maybe I need to work on reading more non-fiction books and articles to prepare for that kind of material.I felt a little better about the grammar section because we've practiced identifying parts of speech and fixing errors a ton in class. Though I did get stuck on a couple questions about advanced verb tense usage. I must have zoned out during that lesson or something! Making dumb little mistakes like that is so frustrating when you've studied so hard. The listening part was okay – having to listen carefully and answer questions about what was said. I've had lots of practice with those types of exercises. But one of the audio tracks had a bunch of background noise, so I missed a few details. I really need to get better at tuning out distractions during tests. All in all, I think the test could have gone better, but it also could have been way worse! I celebrated being done by going for ice cream with my friends. We all agreed that we're glad these big standardized tests only come around once a year. Too much stress! Now I just have to anxiously wait for the results... I'm really hoping I did well enough to keep qualifying for that accelerated English program at school. Achieving multilingual fluency is one of my biggest goals, so I need to stay motivated and keep powering through even when it gets difficult. This experience has taught me that I need to keep sharpening my time management skills and not letting small stumbling blocks derail my focus during high-pressure situations.I know I'm still just at the beginning of my English journey, so I need to be patient with myself while giving my full effort. With more targeted practice in my weak areas, I'm confident my abilities will continue improving over time.Tests will always be a little intimidating, but I'm proud of myself for all the hard work I put into preparing this time. And no matter what the results end up being, the true reward is knowing that I'm becoming a more skilled communicator and opening up future opportunities on a global scale. That makes any challenges worth pushing through! I've got this.篇6My ReflectionsIt was just another ordinary day at Oakwood Elementary School. The morning bell had rung, and we all shuffled into our classrooms to begin the day's lessons. Little did I know that this day would turn out to be quite extraordinary indeed.Mrs. Jenkins, our teacher, announced that we would be having an English test that morning. Uh oh, I thought, feeling a lump form in my throat. English tests always made me nervous. What if I didn't understand the questions properly? What if I made careless mistakes? My palms began to sweat just thinking about it."Don't worry, class," Mrs. Jenkins said in a kind voice, as if reading my mind. "This is just to help me understand whatyou've learned so far, and what areas we need to work on more. Just do your best."Those words didn't really make me feel better, but I tried my hardest to push the butterflies out of my stomach. When the test papers were handed out, I stared at the first question:"Use the word 'diligent' in a sentence."Diligent? I racked my brain but couldn't recall what that word meant. I took a deep breath and moved on to the next question, making a mental note to come back to that one."Correct the following sentence: me and john went to the store."Aha, I know this one! I carefully wrote out "John and I went to the store." Phew, that boosted my confidence a little bit.The questions continued – identifying parts of speech, filling in the blanks, reading comprehension passages. Some were straightforward, while others had me scratching my head. But I persevered, putting in my full effort. When the test was finally over, I couldn't decide if I felt relieved or just plain exhausted. I slumped over my desk, mentally drained from the intense concentration.A couple of days later, our graded tests were handed back. I anxiously flipped through the pages, my heart pounding. A huge smile spread across my face when I saw I had gotten a decent score – not tops in the class, but still pretty good.I studied which questions I had gotten wrong, determining which concepts I needed to reinforce. There were a couple of vocabulary words I obviously needed to learn, like "diligent." I made a note to myself to be more careful in reading instructions slowly and thoroughly.Overall, I was proud of my efforts on this test. It showed that a lot of the English skills we had been learning were sinking in. Sure, I had some areas for improvement, but that was all part of the learning journey, right? As I looked ahead to the next unit, I felt re-energized and motivated to continue soaking up as much knowledge as I could. English was hard, no doubt about it, but incredibly important. The more I practiced using it through reading, writing, listening and speaking, the stronger I would become.I knew there would be many more English tests and challenges ahead of me. But this experience had taught me a very important lesson: Have confidence in yourself, give your best effort, and don't be discouraged by setbacks. Stay diligent –hey, I finally learned that word! – and you'll continue making wonderful progress.I felt so lucky to have teachers who cared about my growth and continuously guided me on this educational path. However, in order to achieve this, it is imperative to first identify the correct course of action. This task can be formidable, given the myriad distractions and impediments that could potentially lead us astray. Therefore, it is essential to maintain unwavering focus and determination in our pursuit of the right path.作为个人,我们始终致力于追求我们存在的意义和目的。
我们努力过着丰富而有意义的生活。

在我们寻求正确道路的过程中,必须保持坚定不移的重点和决心。
So, the first thing we need to do if we want to get on the right track is to do a little self-reflection. Take some time to think about what really matters to us – our values, beliefs, and goals. This will help us figure out what we stand for and what we want out of life. By doing this, we can make sure our actions line up with what's important to us and not just what everyone else isdoing. Self-reflection gives us a better understanding of ourselves and what we're all about, so we can make smarter choices about where we're headed.如果我们想走上正确的道路,首先需要做的是做一点自我反省。
英语自我介绍体形
英语自我介绍体形1I am a person of average height and a somewhat moderate build. Standing at around 5 feet 8 inches, I weigh approximately 150 pounds. My body shape can be described as neither too slender nor overly bulky. When it comes to sports, my height gives me a certain advantage in activities like basketball. I can easily reach for rebounds and have a better view of the court. However, when it comes to running, my slightly heavier weight poses a challenge. I find it harder to gain speed quickly and maintain a consistent pace for long distances. It's like carrying an extra burden that slows me down! But I don't let this stop me from trying and improving. I believe that with determination and effort, I can overcome these challenges and make the best of my physical attributes. After all, it's not just about the shape of our bodies but the spirit within that truly matters! How about you? Do you have similar experiences or different ones?2Oh my goodness! Let me tell you about my unique body shape. I am neither tall and slender like a model nor short and chubby. I have a rather peculiar combination of features. My upper body is slightly broader, which sometimes makes finding the right shirts a real challenge. Once, when Iwas shopping for a formal shirt, I had to go through countless racks before finding one that fit my broad shoulders without being too loose around the waist. It was such a struggle! And then there was this time when people mistook my strong build for being overweight. But when they saw me effortlessly carrying heavy stuff, they realized that my body shape is a sign of strength, not excess weight. How funny and confusing these experiences have been!I believe that my body shape is what makes me special. It gives me the ability to stand out in a crowd and have stories to tell. It's not about being perfect, but about embracing and loving the uniqueness that I have. So, here I am, proud of my one-of-a-kind body shape!3I am a person with a rather unique body shape, and this has had a significant impact on my life. When it comes to daily activities, I often find that my height and build make certain tasks more challenging. For instance, reaching for items on high shelves can be a bit of a struggle for me. In social situations, my body shape also plays a role. At parties, sometimes I notice people's curious glances, as if they are trying to figure out something about me just based on my appearance. This can be quite uncomfortable! When choosing a seat, I tend to prefer those that offer more space and support. I often wonder if others have similar preferences based on their own body shapes. Does everyone have these little considerations in theirdaily lives? I believe my body shape has also influenced my self-confidence at times. But then I remind myself that it's not about the shape but the person inside that truly matters. After all, why should we let our body shape define us completely? We all have so much more to offer than just our outward appearance!4Oh my goodness! Let me tell you about my perception and attitude towards body shape. You know, in this diverse world, body shapes vary greatly, and it's a topic that truly intrigues me.I used to be quite self-conscious about my own body shape. Whenever I saw those perfect figures in magazines or on TV, I couldn't help but compare and feel a sense of inadequacy. But then, I realized that this was such a wrong mindset!I started to embrace my body shape with a positive attitude. I began to focus on the things my body could do rather than just its appearance. For example, I discovered that I have strong legs that allow me to walk long distances and enjoy the beauty of nature. Isn't that amazing? Also, I think society's views on different body shapes are sometimes so narrow and unfair! Why should there be a standard for what is considered "beautiful"? Every body shape has its unique charm and value. We should celebrate diversity and stop judging others based on their appearance. So, dear friends, let's love and accept our own body shapes and have the courage to challenge the unfair views in society. How wonderful life would be if we all did that!5Oh my goodness! Let's talk about the shape of our bodies and its deep connection to our health! You know, our body shape is not just about how we look, but it has a huge impact on our well-being. For instance, having an ideal body shape often means we have a balanced lifestyle. We exercise regularly, eat nutritious food, and get enough sleep. This kind of lifestyle not only keeps us in good shape but also boosts our immune system and reduces the risk of various diseases. How amazing is that? However, on the contrary, an unhealthy body shape can bring a series of problems. A person who is overly obese may suffer from high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart diseases. Isn't that terrifying? Think about it, the extra weight puts a heavy burden on our organs and affects their normal functions. So, it's really important to pay attention to our body shape and take necessary actions to keep it in a healthy state. In conclusion, our body shape is a reflection of our health. We should strive to maintain a good shape through healthy habits and choices. After all, a healthy body is the foundation of a happy life! Don't you agree?。

木船比不上轮船,更比不上飞机,千真万确。
可是绝对不用找关系,也无所谓黑票。
下面是店铺分享的散文《我坐了木船》赏析,欢迎阅读!我坐了木船I Took a Wooden Boat叶圣陶Ye Shengtao从重庆到汉口,我坐了木船。
I took a wooden boat from Chongqing to Hankou.Of course I know it is risky to travel by wooden boat. With countless shoals and reefs to negotiate, accidents may happen any time. To complicate matters, there are bandits lurking around-those pitiful fellow countrymen who, unable to ward off starvation by farming or soldiering or whatnot, have been reduced to the disreputable business as a last resort. I'll be in a real fix if they should rob me of, say, my bedding or clothes.要点:1,“一路上数不清的滩,礁石随处都是,要出事,随时可以出。
”此句乍看没有主语,隐藏主语为“意外事件”,因此译为With countless shoals and reefs to negotiate, accidents may happen any time. with句交代背景~2,“种地没得吃,有力气没处出卖,当了兵经常饿肚皮”是指这些人不管干什么都免不了挨饿,译为unable to ward off(避开,防止)starvation by farming or soldiering or whatnot(等等)3,“无可奈何只好出此下策”译为have been reduced to the disreputable business as a last resort.其中,disreputable business(不体面的行为)指“下策”,reduced to意为“被逼从事…”(之前我们在《背影》中也见到过be in reduced circumstances 这个表述,意为“光景惨淡”),as a last resort 意为“作为最后一招”。

Ternence 刘秋岑Phoebe 何琳English Writing25/02/2013Writing Matters and Its Author Do Help MeIt has always been said that writing, here referring to English writing especially, is a process that cultivates college students’ academic capabilities and stimulates their new ideas so as to perfect themselves, but most of the students seem to never get the hang of writing despite the guidance from teachers and handbooks on writing. I am not actually a good hand at English writing, so I turn to some writing handbooks at the request of my English writing teacher also. One guidebook that impresses me most is Writing Matters written by Peter G. Beidler, who is an excellent professor from a US university with years of English writing teaching experience. For the first time, I come to realize that writing can also be an exhilarating and rewarding experience because of the author’s being humorous, creative and insightful throughout the book.A person to be humorous is always attractive even if he is continuously lecturing on something dull or demanding, as everyone enjoys jokes and tends to learn things in a comparably relaxing atmosphere. And Pro. Beidler is a such one. First in Chapter 1,for example, I encounter with such phrases as “ what u r thinking”, “need 2”, “ I c what u mean”(4). Here, Pro. Beidler is trying to defend himself in a light tone. And when he is dealing with the students’ four common grumblings about writing in Chapter 2, at the end he mentions “ I can’t write because I don’t believe in myself”, the fifth one that he believes “might not be nonsense” (11) . Also in Chapter 23, he employs exaggeration to be humorous and emphatic as well, to remind that using short words in essays are preferred rather than obfuscating by “utilizing elongated terminological constructions” (137). For sure those humorous parts help relax me and lure me directly to the end of the book while learning writing skills.Besides being humorous, Pro. Beidler is also creative in developing his books and offering writing skills. First of all, not like other authors of writing handbooks, Pro. Beidler, believing that most commonly used writings are argumentative, does not directly provide a list of dos and don’ts , but makes each chapter a model essay that keeps to the principle that “an acceptable essay is a bold, clear, and well-developed argument presented in a unified, cohesive, and organized form” (12). Second, he simply applies less than 3000 words within most of the college students’ vocabulary limit to develop the essays, which eases the burdens onto the students when understanding the book. I still remember when I read other reference books, one of my most important jobs is to look up the meaning of a difficult word I encounter with in a dictionary, which, without doubt, is not efficient but frustrating. In addition to encouraging the readers to grasp the writing skills like getting ideas, strengthening ideas and getting hold of the writing structures demanded, Pro. Beidler is creative enough to invent a word “mephobia” when he finds that students are always afraid to have their own experiences and ideas written into their essays. In a word, with his creativity Pro. Beidler sets a good example to me, and to us all English writing learners to be creative.Having mentioned Pro. Beidler’s humour and creativity that are shown in the book, I would not mind showing my admiration for Pro. Beidler’s being insightful. Not only does he find that writings are mostly argumentative, he also believes that writing is a collaborative work as is mentioned in Chapter 18. He holds that writing is not simply a matter of writer’s writing, it needs feedbacks or criticisms from teachers and peers, and that it also deals with the opposition in which the writer should consider the counter-arguments or even talk or argue about the points with people around if possible. Apart from these, he manages to prove with surveys and statistics in Chapter 1 that writing is beyond colleges, instead it is badly needed and highly valued in professional world while the fact is that it is being greatly neglected as a professional skill. For this matter, he, at the very beginning of the book, attaches great importance not only to English writing in colleges among students, but also to the writing in the professional world among businesspeople like corporate executives. But thanks for his insightfulness, what he suggests is we find our own best writing process rather than indiscriminately imitate what he has done already.Having read the book carefully, I am sure I have learned something here and there to improve my English writing. And I must confess that reading it is a pleasant experience for Pro. Beidler’s humour, creativity and insightfulness, and that what he sticks to in writing has a great impact on me. With guidance that is helpful, experience that has been accumulated, and a process that is fit best for me, I can write good essays. And for sure Pro. Beidler would agree with me!。
