三、交流展示Language Notes:1. You need to have something strong around you to protect you from fallingobjects. 你需要周围有些坚固的东西来保护你免受下落物体的伤害。
protect 常与from, against 连用,意思是“防止……遭受; 使……免于;保护……使不受侵害”。
例如:We'll need our caps to protect us from the sun. 我们需要戴帽子遮阳。
You need warm clothes to protect you against the cold. 你需要穿暖些以免着凉。
2. If you are in a car, pull over to a place where there are no trees or tallbuildings and stay in the car.如果你在车里,把车停到一个没有树和高建筑物的地方,并待在车里。
pull over 意思是“把( 车) 停靠在路边”。
例如:He pulled the car over. 他把车开到路边停下。
3. If you are close to the sea, try to get as far away from the water as possible. 如果你在海边,离大海越远越好。
(1) be close to 意思是“接近;靠近;濒临”。
例如:She feels good to be close to nature. 接近自然让她感觉愉快。
(2) as far as possible 相当于as far as you can,这句也可以写成:If you are close to the sea, try to get as far away from the water as you can.4. Keep an eye out for things that can fall on you. 留心那些会砸到你的东西。
keep an eye out 意思是“警觉;留心;密切注意”。
例如:Keep an eye out for anyone selling tickets. 注意有没有人在卖票。
5. If you have a phone, use it only once to call your family or a friend.如果你有部电话,只是当你呼叫家人或朋友时才使用。
once to call your family or a friend 是“从属连词+ 不定式”结构,相当于状语从句once you call your family or a friend。
例如:She opened her mouth as if to say something.(=She opened her mouth as if she would saysomething.) 她张开嘴,好像要说什么。
6. Your chances of survival in an earthquake go up if you stay calm.如果你保持镇定,你在地震中存活的概率就会上升。
go up 意思是“上升”,与rise 同义,与go down 或set 反义。
例如:The temperature goes up in spring. 春天,气温上升。
The sun goes up/rises in the east and goes down/sets in the west.太阳从东方升起,从西方落下。
Grammar:*if 从句+祈使句的用法。
e.g. If you are inside when the earthquake starts, get under a table or a bed.If you are outside, get to an open area as fast as you can.If you are in a car, pull over to a place where there are no trees or tall buildingsand stay in the car.…在“If 条件状语从句+ 祈使句”中,1. 主句为祈使句,省略了主语;if 所引导的从句的是一个完整的句子,有主语。
2. If 从句表示“如果…..”,可以放在主句之前,也可放在主句之后。
如果从句在主句之后无逗号隔开;如从句在主句之前则用逗号隔开。
