我最喜欢的传统节日春节英语作文80字全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1My Favorite Traditional Festival – Chinese New YearWow, Chinese New Year is my absolute favorite time of the year! It's the most fun, exciting and happiest festival we celebrate.I look forward to it for months and months! There's just so much to love about this special tradition.First of all, the preparations and decorations are amazing. A few weeks before New Year's Day, my parents start cleaning our whole house from top to bottom. We have to get rid of any dirt, dust or messiness to welcome the new year fresh and clean. My brother and I love to help out by wiping down surfaces and vacuuming. It's hard work but we know good fortune smiles on a neat, tidy home.Once the cleaning is done, the real fun begins - decorating! We put up bright red lanterns, banners with lucky sayings, and papercut-outs of characters symbolizing good luck and prosperity. My favorite is the upside-down fu symbol meaning blessing and good fortune. We hang it on our front door toinvite blessings into our home for the coming year. The house looks so vibrant and festive!Another exciting part is the special foods we enjoy during this time. A few days before New Year's Eve, my mom starts preparing all the yummy dishes like dumplings, noodles, fish, and niangao, which is a sweet sticky rice cake. We kids aren't allowed in the kitchen but the smells wafting out are mouthwatering! On New Year's Eve, we have a huge feast with the whole family called "surrounding the stove." All the aunts, uncles and cousins come over and we sit around eating, laughing and catching up.After dinner, the real party starts - watching the New Year's Gala on TV and setting off firecrackers at midnight to ring in the new year! I love the fireworks painting the night sky in glittering showers of red and gold. Their crackling sounds scare away any lingering evil spirits, allowing only good luck to remain. Once it's the new year, my brother and I can't wait to get our red envelopes stuffed with cash from our parents and relatives. Hooray, free money!Over the next few days, we visit friends and family, sample more delicious foods, and have a total blast. My cousins and I play games, watch movies, trade snacks from our red envelopes, and just enjoy tons of fun playtime together. No school for almost two weeks - heaven! At the end of the holidays, we finish up by attending the Lantern Festival where we release floating lanterns into the night sky to cast away any remaining bad luck. Walking through the warm, lantern-lit streets crowded with festivalgoers, munching on tangyuan (sweet rice balls) and watching the beautiful glowing lanterns drift up into the darkness is pure magic.I adore Chinese New Year and all the wonderful traditions that come with it - the cleaning, decorations, yummy foods, lucky red envelopes, fireworks, games with family, and lanterns. It truly is the most marvelous festival of the year. Just thinking about it fills me with excitement and joy! I can't wait for the next one to come around again soon.篇2My Favorite Holiday: Chinese New YearChinese New Year is my absolute favorite holiday! It's the biggest and most exciting celebration of the whole year. I love all the decorations, special foods, fireworks, and traditions. For weeks before the big day, my family gets ready by cleaning thehouse from top to bottom. We have to sweep away any bad luck and make room for incoming good fortune. My mom is an amazing chef and she spends days cooking all my favorite dishes like dumplings, noodles, spring rolls, and sticky rice balls. She makes sure we have extras to share with neighbors and visitors. Dad takes me to the market to pick out the plumpest oranges, juiciest tangerines, and biggest bags of sweet red dates. The whole house smells incredible!A few days before New Year's Eve, we decorate the house with red lanterns, couplets, and papercuts of characters that symbolize luck, wealth, and happiness. We hang the decorations on the doors and windows to welcome the new year and scare off any evil spirits. My grandparents give me shiny new red envelopes with my name written in black ink. I can't wait to find out what's inside! Finally, the big night arrives! We gather for a huge feast with all our relatives. The table is piled high with dishes and everyone keeps trying to add more food. We make a toast with tea and my uncle lights a whole tray of firecrackers to drive away the old year. The popping sounds echo down the street as all the neighbors join in. I jump up and down, so excited for the new year! After dinner, it's time for the main event: passing out the red envelopes! The adults give the kids envelopes stuffed with crisp new cash. We kids run around shouting out thanks and showing off our envelopes. My cousins and I can never resist peeking inside right away. Sometimes I'll get a few dollars, sometimes twenty or even more! My grandparents always give me the biggest envelopes since I'm the youngest. No matter how much is inside, just receiving a red envelope from my elders is a huge honor. As night falls, we go outside and light a stream of bright red firecrackers that crackle and pop down the streets. The air fills with thick smoke and the scent of fireworks. All the neighborhood kids run around wildly, screaming with delight as we chase the noise and flames. The New Year's fireworks are the most spectacular of all! The shows last for hours, lighting up the sky with dazzling colors and shapes. My favorite bursts are the red ones shaped like peony flowers. When we finally return home, everyone is exhausted but grinning from ear to ear. We kids proudly display our red envelopes and piles of coins. I set mine on the dresser, savoring the thought of all the new toys and treats I can buy when we goout the next day. After all the excitement, we fall into bed for a long, cozy sleep under our fresh New Year's quilts. The celebrations continue for two full weeks as we make the rounds visiting all our relatives and friends. Everywhere we go there are plates piled high with candies, seeds, and little treats for the kids. People cheerfully greet us with wishes of luck and prosperity for the coming year. We return the greetings and thank each person for their hospitality and generosity.Whenever I think back on Chinese New Year, I'll forever remember the piercing fireworks, savory homemade feasts, festive decorations, joyous laughter with family, and of course those delightfully plump red envelopes! The holiday celebrates a fresh start to the new year, brimming with hopes for great fortune and happiness. For me, it will always be a time of traditions, togetherness, and making wonderful new memories. I can't wait for next year's celebration!篇3My favorite festival is Chinese New Year! Right when the clock strikes 12, we open all the windows and doors to let the new year in. My dad lights a long string of firecrackers that make a huge noise to scare off any evil spirits and bad luck. It's really loud but exciting! In the morning, the first day of the new year, I wake up to find a red envelope stuffed with cash under my pillow from my parents. My grandparents give us more red envelopes and delicious snacks like candies, seeds, and oranges which symbolize fullness and wealth. In the next two weeks, we visit all our aunts, uncles, and cousin's houses, watching performances of the traditional lion and dragon dances in the streets and parks. 我最喜欢的传统节日春节英语作文80字全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1My Favorite Holiday: Chinese New YearChinese New Year is the best holiday ever! I love all the yummy foods like dumplings and noodles. My grandma makes the most delicious New Year's Eve dinner. We eat until our bellies are totally full!My favorite part is getting lucky red envelopes with money from my relatives. I save up my New Year money all year to buy new toys and games. I also love watching the dragon dances and fireworks shows. The fireworks light up the whole sky so bright and colorful!Chinese New Year is full of fun family time. We play games, watch TV specials, and just enjoy being together. I can't wait until next New Year to eat, play, and celebrate with my family again! What's your favorite holiday?篇2My Favorite Traditional Festival: Chinese New YearYay, it's Chinese New Year again! This is absolutely my favorite time of the year. I love everything about it – the decorations, the yummy food, the firecrackers, and most of all, the long holiday to spend time with my family. Let me tell you all about the amazing traditions we have for celebrating Chinese New Year.First, we have to get our home squeaky clean before New Year's Day. My mom makes me tidy up my room and throw away any old, broken toys I don't need anymore. She says we have to sweep away the old and make room for the new luck to come in the new year. The whole house gets a mega scrub down –windows, floors, even the dusty corners. But it's fun because we blast festive music and make a game of it!Then it's time to decorate our home with auspicious symbols and bright colors like red and gold. We hang up lanterns, put out a small tree of bright flowers and pussy willows, and stick papercuttings of lucky words on the windows. My favorite part is the upside-down fu sign above our front door. Fu means blessing or good fortune, so hanging it upside-down means luck is being poured into our home for the coming year. So cool!A few days before New Year's Eve, my grandma comes over to help my mom prepare allllll the special food. There are somany symbolic dishes – nian gao (sticky rice cake) because the word sounds like "year higher," meaning to increase our income. Dumplings look like ancient money pouches, so we eat them for wealth. Long noodles can never be cut because we want a long life. And my favorite, the Tray of Togetherness with eight compartments full of different candies and snacks. Yum!When it's finally New Year's Eve, we do a huge cleaning sweep of the house again to clear out any remaining bad luck. We take baths or showers with bathroom plants to "wash away" the old year too. Then we get dressed up in brand new red clothes from head to toe. Red scares off the mythical monster Nian who comes out on New Year's Eve. My grandpa always gives me some fresh crisp bills in a red envelope for good luck. I stash that money away to grow my "fortune" for later! After a big dinner feast, it's finally time for the exciting New Year's Eve festivities to begin! Right at midnight, firecrackers start blasting off to scare Nian away for good. We open all the windows and doors to let the new luck rush in. My relatives come over and we exchange greetings of "Gong Xi Fa Cai" (wishing you prosperous new year). It's funny to watch the older folks do a ceremonial New Year's Eve wake-up call by making cheeky noises pretending to sleep before shouting the greetings. The next two weeks are pure bliss – no school and just relaxing at home with family. We watch the annual New Year's TV specials together, play games for cash prizes, and visit friends for more delicious reunion meals. I love getting even more lucky red envelopes full of money and hearing the elders dole out advice for the new year like "This year will be your year to shine in school!" It makes me feel so optimistic. On the 15th day, we finish up the New Year celebrations with the Lantern Festival. My grandparents take me out for tang yuan (sweet sticky rice balls) because the round shape symbolizes unity and togetherness. Then we go watch the beautiful lanterns being released into the night sky. I always make a secret wish on the biggest, brightest lantern. I wish that the new year will be healthy, happy, and full of good luck for me and my whole family. Yeah, Chinese New Year rules! I can't wait until it comes around again next year.篇3My Favorite Holiday: Chinese New YearChinese New Year is my absolute favorite holiday! It's the most fun, exciting, and delicious time of the year. I look forwardto it for months and months. The celebrations last for 15 days, but the festivities really get going on New Year's Eve.On New Year's Eve, my whole family gets together for a huge feast called the Reunion Dinner. We make dumplings and eat lucky foods like whole fish, long noodles, and sweet rice balls. My grandma always cooks up a storm in the kitchen. The smells of sizzling meat, fragrant sauces, and fresh dough fill the house. My cousin Jessica and I can barely contain our excitement because we know the best is yet to come - red envelopes! After dinner, it's time for the adults to hand out the red envelopes filled with money. My parents give them to me and Jessica with big hugs and say "Gong Xi Fa Cai!" which means "Wishing you prosperity!" We squeal with delight as we rip them open and count our cash. Getting red envelopes is the best part of the night for us kids. But the real fun begins at midnight when we set off firecrackers and fireworks outside. The loud pops and bright colors in the sky are so thrilling! It's a way to scare off any evil spirits and welcome the new year with light and energy. My dad always lets me light a few small firecrackers myself while he handles the big fireworks. I feel like a daredevil playing with fire and explosives! The next day, I wake up early just bursting with excitement. First thing, I put on my new clothes that my grandma gave me from a big red box. New clothes symbolize a fresh start for the new year. Then we have a big breakfast with more delicious holiday foods. My favorite is the sticky rice balls stuffed with sweet fillings. After breakfast, it's time for me and Jessica to collect even more red envelopes! We go door-to-door to all our relatives' houses. At each one, they pinch our cheeks, give us big hugs, and hand us crisp bills in those auspicious little red packets. By the end of the day, our red envelope stash is looking pretty good! I can't wait to buy some new toys and games with my Chinese New Year money.Over the next two weeks, the fun just keeps going. We watch amazing lion dances and dragon dances on the streets, with the performers kicking, jumping, and practically defying gravity. The costumes are so cool with the vibrant colors and elaborate masks. One year, Jessica and I even got to have our picture taken sitting inside the dragon's mouth! We also go to Chinese temples and watch fireworks competitions almost every night. The night sky is just constantly lit up with colorful explosions. I love the ear-shattering boomsand smoky smells. It's exhilarating having all that fire power so close! At school, we learned all about the traditions and stories behind Chinese New Year. Like how each year is represented by a different animal in the Chinese zodiac. This year is the Year of the Rabbit, which symbolizes mercy, elegance, and luck. We made lots of fun rabbit crafts and decorations out of red paper. My favorite story is about the monster Nian who used to terrorize villages every New Year's Eve. He was scared away by the loud noises of firecrackers and the bright red colors that the villagers used as decorations. That's why we still use so much red and fireworks today - to keep scaring Nian away!I just love everything about Chinese New Year. From the incredible foods to the fireworks to the family gatherings, it's just nonstop fun and excitement for over two weeks. Getting piles of cash in red envelopes isn't bad either! It's such a cool cultural tradition that brings my whole community together to celebrate. I'll never get tired of this amazing holiday. Gong Xi Fa Cai!篇4My Favorite Holiday: Chinese New YearChinese New Year is my favorite holiday! I love the red decorations, yummy food, and getting lucky money. My family cleans the house and puts up spring couplets with lucky sayings. We make dumplings together and watch the New Year's Gala on TV. At midnight, we set off firecrackers to scare away evil spirits. I get to stay up late playing with my cousins. Red envelopes from grandparents have money inside - how lucky! I can't wait for Chinese New Year every year.篇5My Favorite Holiday - Chinese New YearChinese New Year is my absolute favorite time of the year! It's a huge celebration that lasts for over two weeks with lots of fun traditions. The best part is getting red envelopes filled with money from my parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. They give kids like me the red envelopes as a symbol of good luck and fortune for the new year. I always spend my red envelope money on new toys and games I've been wanting!A few weeks before the big celebration, my mom starts cleaning our whole house from top to bottom. She says it's to sweep away any bad luck and make room for incoming goodluck. My brother and I have to help by dusting, scrubbing floors, and washing windows until the whole place is spotless. It's a lot of work but I know it makes my mom happy. Then my dad goes out and buys loads of delicious dried snacks, candies, nuts, and other treats to have around during the holidays. He always gets these coconut candies that are my favorite! We arrange all the goodies on platters and they decorate our living room.My grandparents come over for an huge reunion dinner on New Year's Eve. The dinner has to have really lucky foods like dumplings, whole fish, noodles, and other symbolic dishes. After we finish the meal around midnight, we kids get to stay up late setting off firecrackers and fireworks in the streets to scare away evil spirits! It's so loud and smoky but so much fun.On the first day of the new year, my brother and I put on our fancy new outfits that we got as gifts. We look so fancy! Then we visit neighbours and relatives, wishing them a happy new year. They give us even more red envelopes and delicious snacks as gifts. It's awesome. For the next two weeks of holidays, there are festivals in the park with dragon dances, acrobats, and concerts to enjoy. We watch the spectacular parades with colorful dragons and lionsdancing down the street. One year I even got to be part of the dragon costume!Overall, Chinese New Year is simply the most fun time of the whole year. The decorations are beautiful, the food is delicious, and spending quality time with my whole family is the best part. I look forward to it every single year!篇6My Favorite Traditional Holiday: Chinese New YearChinese New Year is my absolute favorite holiday! It's the most important celebration in Chinese culture and I look forward to it every year. There's so much excitement and fun traditions surrounding the Spring Festival. Let me tell you all about why I love it so much! The preparations for Chinese New Year start weeks before the actual holiday. My mom and dad make sure our whole house gets a super deep clean - they sweep away any bad luck from the old year. We put up bright red decorations with lucky symbols like fu characters for blessings and happiness. Red is such a vibrant, festive color! My favorite decorations are the upside-down fu signs and the lanterns. The upside-down fu means good luck is arriving. The beautiful red lanterns make everything feel warm and joyful. We hang them up around the house and in trees outside. When they're lit up at night, it's just magical!Another fun tradition is getting new clothes and shoes for New Year's day. My grandma always takes me shopping for a new outfit and I get to pick whatever I want. One year I got this cute dress with peony flowers on it. Peonies symbolize beauty and prosperity. Last year, I picked a bright red top with a golden dog since it was the Year of the Dog.In the weeks leading up to New Year's Eve, my dad buys loads of fireworks and sparklers. We're not allowed to set them off until that night though. The loud pops and crackles are supposed to scare away evil spirits. I love watching the showers of sparks and colorful bursts in the sky!New Year's Eve is the biggest celebration and most important day. We have a huge feast with symbolic dishes like dumplings, fish, noodles, and good fortune fruit like oranges and tangerines. My favorite is the dumplings because they kind of look like old-fashioned money pouches. The more you eat, the more wealth you'll have in the new year! After our big dinner, my cousins, aunts, uncles and I all get red envelopes filled with money called hongbao or lucky money. The envelopes have to be red because that color represents prosperity and wealth. Kids like me are showered with hong baos from our older relatives. It's so exciting ripping them open! I save up all my lucky money for months to spend on treats. At midnight, we allthrongs to watch fireworks and hear the ringing of bells and gongs to drive away lingering misfortune. Everyone shouts, "Guo Nian Hao!" which means "Celebrate the New Year!" as we watch the fireworks light up the sky. Beautiful colors explode everywhere as we welcome the new year. I run around with my cousins trying to set off our sparklers and snap lids that make little firecracker sounds. After all the commotion at midnight, I'm usually exhausted from the excitement! But the celebrations continue for two whole weeks. We can't sweep or take out trash during that time because we don't want to sweep away all the good luck that just arrived. One of my favorite activities is watching the amazing dragon dances in the street. The colorful, undulating dragons held up by dozens of dancers twisting and turning is just mesmerizing. Theloud drums and cymbals make it feel alive! I really hope I get to be part of controlling the dragon someday.Towards the end of the holiday, we have the Lantern Festival where we decorate lanterns and hang them up or carry them around at night. Some lanterns look like animals or other shapes. People also eat sticky rice balls called tangyuan which symbolize unity and togetherness. The roundness is supposed to represent the cycle of life. After two weeks, the festivities finally come to an end. We celebrate the Lantern Festival on the last day, then put away all the decorations until next year. I'm always sad to see it over but look forward to counting down to the next Spring Festival! It's my favorite time surrounded by family, fun traditions, lucky symbols, and lots of joy and excitement. I can't wait until I'm older to host my own huge celebration for Chinese New Year!。

我最喜欢的节日是春节英语作文向朋友介绍全文共3篇示例,供读者参考篇1My Favorite Holiday Is Chinese New YearHi friends! I'm so excited to tell you all about my favorite holiday - Chinese New Year! It's the biggest and most important celebration in China and for Chinese people all around the world. We call it "Spring Festival" too because it marks the beginning of spring on the lunar calendar. Get ready for some awesome food, fun traditions, and lots of red decorations!Chinese New Year happens sometime between late January and mid-February each year based on the lunar cycle. The date changes every year but the celebrations last for about two weeks!I always look forward to the weeks leading up to it because my mom starts decorating our house with cool Chinese knots, lanterns, poems written on red paper, and an upside-down fu sign for luck.My favorite part has to be all the yummy food we eat for Chinese New Year. A few days before, my grandma comes over and we make dumplings together - she shows me how to pinchthem just right. We make enough for the whole family because eating dumplings at midnight on New Year's Eve is a big tradition. They kind of look like ancient Chinese money pouches, so eating them is supposed to bring wealth in the new year. Yum!Another food we have to have is a big tray of sweets and dried fruits, nuts, and candies for snacking while family visits. All the different treats have lucky meanings too, like the candies represent a sweet life and the lotus seeds represent having kids. The coolest treat is nian gao, a sweet sticky rice cake. My grandma always buys the biggest nian gao she can find because bigger is better for bringing good luck!On Chinese New Year's Eve, we get all dressed up in new clothes and shoes for good luck in the new year. I love wearing a new red dress, shoes, and bows that my grandma gives me. She tucks a few dollars in red envelopes called hongbao and gives them to me for being a good girl. Getting hongbao from my parents and relatives is the best!My favorite tradition is watching the amazing New Year's Eve TV specials that come on that night. They have dancing dragons, kungfu performers, singers, comedy acts, and special sketches about traditions. My uncle loves watching it for the Sprite ads -they're always hilarious! At midnight, we all eat dumplings and nian gao together while fireworks go off outside. The next morning, we have a huge family reunion brunch feast at my grandma's house. We eat so many delicious dishes like noodles for longevity, whole fish for surplus at year's end, meatballs to bring family unity, and sweet rice balls in hot soup. After brunch, the kids get red envelopes with money from aunts, uncles, grandparents, and whoever else is there. It's seen as giving us a prosperous start to the new year! For the next two weeks of celebrations, we visit temples, watch lion dances and parades with firecrackers, and hang out with family. My cousins and I love the lantern festival at the end where we carry bright lanterns and try to solve the riddles on them. We'd stay out really late playing games, eating snacks from street stalls, and watching fireworks if we didn't have school the next day!I hope you can see why Chinese New Year is my favorite time of year! It has everything - special food, new clothes, fireworks, family parties, lanterns, lucky money, and two whole weeks off from school. I love learning about the interesting traditions behind all the fun activities too. Maybe you can join my family'scelebrations next year! I'll make sure to get you some extra dumplings and hongbao.篇2My Favorite Holiday is Chinese New YearHi friends! I want to tell you all about my very favorite holiday - Chinese New Year! It's the biggest and most fun celebration in China and for Chinese people all around the world. We call it the Spring Festival or Lunar New Year too. It happens sometime between January and February each year based on the lunar calendar.Chinese New Year is such an awesome holiday with so many exciting traditions and fun activities! Let me walk you through everything we do to get ready and celebrate.Getting Ready for the Big DayThe preparations for Chinese New Year actually begin weeks before the big day. My mom and dad are always super busy cleaning every single corner of our house from top to bottom. We have to get rid of all the dust and dirt from the old year to make room for good luck in the new year. We wash all the clothes, sheets, curtains, you name it! It's a huge chore but it makes the whole house feel crisp and fresh. My favorite part of the preparations is decorating the house! We put up red paper lanterns and couplets with lucky sayings and good wishes written on them. Red is the most important color because it symbolizes happiness, good luck, and scaring away evil spirits. We also decorate with live blooming plants like bamboo to represent growth and upward striving. Everything looks so bright and vibrant when we're done!Another big tradition is getting haircuts before the new year which symbolizes removing the old and welcoming the new. I always look forward to getting a fresh new cut! My grandparents also give me, my brothers, and my cousins little red envelopes with "lucky money" inside as an extra treat before the big day.New Year's Eve and DayThe biggest events happen on New Year's Eve and Day. On the night before, we have a huge feast with all my extended family - grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, you name it. Everyone comes over and we eat so many delicious foods! Some of the yummy dishes we have are dumplings, whole steamed fish, long noodles that symbolize longevity, rice cakes, fruit, candies, seeds, and much more. We always make sure to prepare extra servings of everything because it's consideredlucky to have leftovers. My favorite is definitely the sweet rice balls called tang yuan. Mmm I can taste them now! After our massive feast, the real fun begins - fireworks and firecrackers! I love watching all of the bright, colorful displays outside and the loud popping cracks and bangs from the firecrackers. Red fireworks are especially lucky. My cousins and I take turns lighting some small firecrackers and sparklers too which makes me feel like a big kid. We also give our red envelope money to the firecracker crews as a tradition. At the stroke of midnight, we honor our ancestors by burning incense and paper money notes. It's a way to show respect for our family history. Then everyone yells "Xin nian kuai le!" which means "Happy New Year!" over and over as loudly as we can. What a thrilling moment when one year ends and a fresh, new one begins! On the first day of the new year, we all dress up in our fancy new clothes, usually with lots of red and gold colors. The kidsitte receive even more lucky red envelopes filled with cash from our parents and the married adults in the family. Score! I always look forward to collecting a bunch of fresh crisp bills. With the money I save up, I can eventually buy something really cool like a new video game.Later in the day, we pay respect to our ancestors at the family altar or grave sites. We leave offerings of food, light more incense, and make wishes for good fortune. At night, we have another huge family reunion dinner and more firecrackers!Awesome Activities & TraditionsChinese New Year lasts for 15 full days packed with other awesome activities and traditions. One of my favorites is watching the amazing lion and dragon dances! Skilled dancers guide the colorful lion and dragon costumes through the streets. The lions playfully "eat" lettuce leaves or other greens for good luck and vigor. Sometimes they even stand up on sturdy poles! I've gotten to feed the lions before and it's an honor.Another cool tradition is hanging up dazzling lanterns for the Lantern Festival on the 15th night. Some lanterns are so intricate and creative - shaped like animals, objects, or characters. I've made simple lanterns at school before but the fancy ones from skilled artisans are true works of art. At night, we go out with our glowing lanterns and try to solve riddles written on them. Whoever solves the most wins a prize! The lanterns symbolize letting go of the past year and welcoming the new one on a brilliant note.My Favorite Holiday MemoriesI have so many happy memories of celebrating Chinese New Year over the years! One year, I'll never forget when my uncle surprised us all by jumping out of a huge lion dance costume. We all screamed with delight when we realized it was him! Another year, I won a small prize for solving the third-most lantern riddles at our local park's lantern contest. I was so proud. But most of all, I cherish the family time and traditions we uphold. Getting to spend quality time with my extended relatives is the best part. I look forward to my grandma's dumplings and candies, my aunt's egg tarts, and my uncle's famous fried rice. Wearing glamorous new outfits, setting off firecrackers, exchanging those lucky red envelopes, and seeing all the beautiful decorations everywhere just fills me with total joy and excitement. I feel so connected to my heritage and the year ahead feels bursting with optimism and potential.Well, that's the super awesome holiday of Chinese New Year! It's a raucous two-week celebration of good fortune, hope, luck, and family. I'm already counting down the days until the next one! Xin nian kuai le!篇3My Favorite Festival is Chinese New YearHello my friends! I want to tell you all about my favorite festival of the whole year - Chinese New Year! It's the most exciting and fun celebration in my culture. Chinese New Year lasts for 15 days, but the biggest festivities happen on New Year's Eve and the first few days of the new year. Let me share all the awesome traditions and activities!Getting Ready for the New YearIn the weeks leading up to Chinese New Year, my whole family gets really busy preparing for the big celebration. We do a huge deep cleaning of our entire house from top to bottom. My mom always says we have to sweep away all the bad luck of the old year to make way for incoming good luck. I actually kind of enjoy the cleaning because it means I get to rearrange my toys and books how I want in my room!Once the house is spotless, we decorate everywhere with red lanterns, red Spring Festival couplets with black ink calligraphy, and papel picado banners with cute designs cut out of red paper. We always buy a kumquat plant because the words for "kumquat" and "prosperity" sound the same in Chinese. The house looks so bright, colorful, and festive when we're done!A few days before New Year's Eve, my mom starts cooking up a storm. She makes amazing dishes like dumplings, nian gao(a sticky sweet rice cake), and big platters of candies, seeds, and other snacks. I love helping out in the kitchen by kneading the dumpling dough. It's tiring work but totally worth it when I get to taste the yummy results!New Year's Eve ExcitementAfter weeks of prep, New Year's Eve finally arrives and it's the biggest night of celebrations! I get dressed up in a brand new outfit (usually a cute dress or skirt) and my parents give me crisp new bills of "lucky money" tucked into a red envelope. The amount always has lots of lucky 8s, like 88. We got these envelopes from our relatives who came over earlier in the day.At night, the whole family gathers together for the grand feast my mom made. We make a hot pot with a simmering broth where we can cook all sorts of meat, seafood, vegetables, noodles, and dumplings at the table. The kitchen is too crowded with food for everyone to eat in there, so we set up a big table in the living room and pile all the dishes onto it. We snack on seeds, candy, and other goodies while waiting for different foods to cook in the hot pot. It's such a warm, cozy feeling being surrounded by my loved ones and our traditional foods. After dinner, my parents always give me "lucky money" in a red envelope, just like from our relatives earlier. Then we watchthat year's New Year's Gala on TV, which is like a big variety show with songs, comedy sketches, magic acts, and more. My parents love watching it but I usually get bored after a while because the performances are pretty old-fashioned and geared more toward adults. So then I go play games or do crafts with my cousins. Finally, the best part - at midnight we get to set off firecrackers and fireworks outside! My dad carefully helps me light a few kid-safe firecrackers. They make super loud popping sounds that scare away any evil spirits from the old year. After the firecrackers are done, we bundle up and go outside to watch fireworks bursting over the neighborhood. They light up the night sky in bright reds, golds, greens, and more beautiful colors. Ringing in the new year with fireworks is such an exciting tradition!Fun on New Year's DayI always sleep in late on New Year's Day because I stay up so late the night before. When I wake up, I greet my parents with sayings like "Xin nian kuai le!" meaning "Happy New Year!" We have a traditional breakfast with more delicious foods my mom made, like nian gao (sweet sticky rice cake). The best part is that I can finally spend my lucky money! My parents take me and my cousins to shop in Chinatown or theAsian mall to pick out new toys, arts & crafts supplies, storybooks, clothes, or anything else we want as New Year's treats. I save some of my money to buy little gifts like stickers or candies to give to my friends too. I know the polite traditions of saying thanks and complimenting on any gifts I get.In the days after New Year's Day, we keep celebrating by visiting friends and relatives. We greet elders by wishing them a happy new year and doing the tradition of kneeling down to receive lucky money from them. We watch brilliant lion dances performed by acrobats in colorful lion costumes. Big fluffy lion mascots come to life, shaking their heads and tails to the beat of loud drums and cymbals. The dances are meant to bring good luck and chase away evil spirits in the new year. There's also lots of amazing food to enjoy during New Year's season, including dish names that sound like lucky words. Some of my favorites are nian gao for "year" and "getting higher", dumplings shaped like ingots for wealth, sweet rice balls for togetherness, and noodles for long life. Everything is so bright, colorful, and auspicious!I love Chinese New Year so much. Even though I'm born in America, it helps me feel connected to my cultural roots and traditions from China. It's the most special time of year forfeasting, time off school, hong bao lucky money, quality family bonding, and celebrating hopes for abundance in the year ahead.I feel so thankful for my heritage. Hope you all can experience the fun and excitement of Chinese New Year one day too! Xin nian kuai le!。

I go to Maple Grove Elementary School and I'm in 5th grade. Today Iwant to tell you all about my very favorite holiday - Chinese New Year! It's the biggest and most important celebration in Chinese culture. I get so excited for it every year!Chinese New Year is also called the Spring Festival. It marks the beginning of a new year on the lunar calendar. The date changes every year, but it's always sometime in late January or early February. This year it fell on January 22nd. The festivities usually last for about 15 days, making it the longest holiday celebration too! There are lots of cool traditions and customs for Chinese New Year. Let me tell you about some of the most fun ones! A few days before New Year's Day, my mom and dad spend time deep cleaning our whole house from top to bottom. We have to sweep away all the bad luck and make room for incoming good luck and fortune! Then we decorate everywhere with red lanterns, red scrolls with lucky sayings, and paper cut-outs of the Chinese character for "happiness."On New Year's Eve, we have a huge feast with all my favorite foods like dumplings, noodles, fish, and sweet rice balls. The dumplings are shaped like ingots which used to be an ancient form of currency, so eating them is supposed to bring wealth in the new year. Long noodles symbolize long life, so you have toslurp them up without breaking them! And the fish represents abundance and surplus. We always make sure to leave a little bit on the plate so there are "leftovers" going into the next year. After our big meal, the kids receive red envelopes filled with "lucky money" from our parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. The envelopes are red because that color represents good luck, happiness and prosperity. I always put the money I get right into my piggy bank to save it.Then at midnight, we watch big fireworks displays and light off firecrackers and firecrackers to scare off any evil spirits and mark the new year. My favorite part is seeing the amazing fireworks lighting up the night sky! Firecrackers were also used in ancient times to naturalists wondering about the loud noises coming from Chinese communities. The sounds and smoke represent chasing away the old year's negativity.Over the next few days, we visit with our relatives and close friends. Everyone says "Xin Nian Kuai Le" which means "Happy New Year" in Chinese. We enjoy more delicious food and hand out more red envelopes to kids.Another tradition is watching the New Year's Eve television gala. It's a really exciting variety show with dancers, singers, comedy skits, and acts like acrobatics or magic. My grandparentsalways tune in and everyone gathers around the TV. I like the dragons and lion dances the most!At school and in our community, we have a parade with music, dancers, and the famous lion and dragon dances. The lions are supposed to bring good luck by dancing and "eating" the lettuce leaves that get hung outside homes and businesses. I got to be part of the dragon dance troupe at my school last year - it was so cool being inside the long, bendable dragon costume!Another fun tradition for kids is getting new clothes, shoes, and even bedding and towels with designs of cute zodiac animals on them. There are 12 zodiac animals that represent each new year on the lunar cycle. 2023 was the Year of the Rabbit.I was born in 2013 which was the Year of the Snake, so snakes are "my" zodiac animal. This year, 2024, is the Year of the Dragon - how awesome is that?!My favorite part of Chinese New Year has to be all the delicious foods though! In addition to the dumplings, noodles and other dishes we have at home, we love going out to eat at Chinese restaurants and bakeries during the celebrations. My favorite treats are nian gao (sticky rice cakes that symbolize achieving new heights), sesame seed balls filled with either lotusseed or sweet bean paste, and those yummy coconut ribbons. Just thinking about it is making me hungry!Well, I hope you can see why I love Chinese New Year so much. It's a time for spending quality time with family, fun traditions, lucky charms, parties, parades, firecrackers and most importantly - amazing food! I can't wait to celebrate again next year. Let me know if you have any other questions about this incredible holiday!篇3My Favorite Holiday: The Spring Festival!Hi, my name is Xiaoming and I'm going to tell you all about my very favorite holiday - the Spring Festival! It's also called Chinese New Year. The Spring Festival is the best time of the whole year. It's when my huge family gets together, we eat lots of yummy food, get lucky money in red envelopes, watch fireworks, and celebrate a new year beginning. I look forward to it for months! The Spring Festival happens sometime in January or February, depending on the lunar calendar. Lunar means it's based on the cycles of the moon instead of the regular calendar. Lots of holidays and events in China follow the lunar calendar. Afew weeks before the Spring Festival, my mom and dad start getting our home ready by cleaning everything from top to bottom. We have to sweep away any bad luck from the old year to make way for good luck in the new year.On New Year's Eve, we have a huge feast with all my aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins. My grandma makes her famous dumplings stuffed with pork and vegetables. Just thinking about them makes my mouth water! We also have a whole crispy duck, sweet rice balls, noodles for long life, and many other amazing dishes. I try to eat every single one because they all have special meanings for the new year like wealth, happiness, and good fortune. After our big meal, the real fun begins - it's time to stay up late! My cousins and I run around the house wearing our new clothes my grandma gave us. The adults hand out lucky red envelopes with money inside to keep us occupied. I got so many last year, I bought new video games and treats with my haul.Around midnight, we hear the fireworks starting across the city. My dad lights a whole pack of fireworks for us to enjoy in our courtyard. The colors and sounds exploding in the sky are unbelievable! I love watching the bright red bursts the most because red is such a lucky color for the new year. We set offfirecrackers too that make super loud bangs to scare away any evil spirits and my grandpa tells old folklore tales. The next two weeks are my favorite part - no school and all play! My cousins come over every day and we run around having adventures in our red clothes. The streets are decorated with lanterns, dragons, firecrackers, and animations projected on buildings. My grandpa takes us to see amazing acrobat shows, dragon dances, and festivals with yummy snacks like candied hawthorn on a stick. I feel like I'm living in an ancient magical world from the stories. At night, the city glows under thousands of lanterns. My family walks the lantern fairs looking at the incredible lights, arts, and crafts. We eat savory pancakes, candy sculptures, and try to win prizes by catching live fish or shooting arrows. My favorite part is making a wish when we release a floating lantern into the sky. I wish for good grades and lots of video games!Towards the end of the Spring Festival, we have one more big family meal with dumplings shaped like smiling buddhas. It's to wish for luck, prosperity, and happiness in the coming year. I'm always so sad to see my cousins go home, but I know the Spring Festival will come again with more fun and games next year. The Spring Festival is really the most wonderful time! It brings my whole family together for amazing foods, activities, customs, and celebrations. It lets us honor our past while welcoming the future with open arms. I learn so much about my Chinese heritage and get to take part in centuries-old traditions. Most of all, it's two weeks of nonstop excitement, games, and treats that every kid dreams about. I can't wait until next year's Spring Festival! Doesn't it sound like a blast?篇4My Favorite Holiday: Chinese New Year!Hi everyone! My name is Lily and I'm 10 years old. Today I want to tell you all about my very favorite holiday - Chinese New Year! It's the biggest and most fun celebration of the whole year.I look forward to it for months and months. Let me explain why I love Chinese New Year so much!First of all, Chinese New Year means no school for two whole weeks! Can you believe that? Two full weeks with no classes, no homework, and no waking up early. It's holiday heaven! I get to sleep in late every day and just relax. My parents don't make me study or do chores during the New Year break either. It's like a beautiful vacation right in the middle of the school year. But even better than the time off school is all the fun activities we get to do to celebrate the New Year. It starts with the deep cleaning we do at home in the weeks before. My mom has me and my brother help by cleaning our rooms really well. We dust everywhere, vacuum up all the crumbs, and make sure every corner is spotless. It's hard work but it's exciting because it means the New Year is coming! Then there's the decorating! We put up red lanterns, hang up poems on red paper, and my grandma gets out all her special decorations she's saved over the years. My favorite is thiscool-looking thing made of red lacquered bamboo that's supposed to bring good luck. Our whole house looks so festive and beautiful when we're done. The stairs up to our front door even get lined with a row of upside-down kumquat plants because the word "kumquat" sounds like the words for "gold" and "luck" in Chinese. How neat is that? The absolute best part of getting ready has to be the deep cleaning of my grandma's kitchen though. She makes the most incredible food for our huge family feast on New Year's Eve. We're talking plates piled high with dumplings, longevity noodles, whole steamed fish, sticky rice cakes, turnip cakes, and much more. There's so much food that we can't finish it all in onenight and get to keep eating the leftovers for days after too! Everything is so delicious. That amazing feast on New Year's Eve is definitely one of the highlights, but I also really enjoy staying up late that night too. Traditionally, you aren't supposed to sleep at all to make sure you carry over the good luck from one year to the next. My parents don't strictly enforce that rule, but they do let me and my brother stay up way later than normal watching the evening TV show that counts down to the new year. When midnight strikes, we open the windows to let out the old year and open the doors to let in the new one. Then we light off firecrackers and fireworks in the street to frighten away evil spirits! It's so cool seeing all the colors exploding in the night sky. I'm usually exhausted by 1am but still get to sleep in the next day.Speaking of the next day, New Year's Day is full of fun too. First thing in the morning we get red envelopes with money inside, called "hongbao". How awesome is getting cash just for waking up?! My grandparents give the best hongbao. The rest of New Year's Day is just as exciting - we perform rituals like saying prayer poems and deep bowing to the elders to wish them a long life, we watch dragon dances and magic shows on TV, and best of all, we get to eat way too many delicious candies, chocolates and other sweets without getting scolded. No one can get mad at you for snacking too much on New Year's!The celebrations keep going for days and days after that too. For the first week, we visit my aunts, uncles, and cousins' homes. Us kids get more hongbao at each place while the adults drink tea and snack on seeds and candies. We also get to watch amazing acrobatic performances on TV and see amazing circus acts like tightrope walkers and fire-breathers. Near the end of that first week, neighborhoods put on incredible fireworks shows that my family goes to watch every year. They are justmind-blowingly awesome! The second week of New Year is a little more relaxed but there's still a lot of fun. We get to go shopping for new clothes at the mall because it's considered good luck to start off the year with new outfits. My brother and I also attend a morning party at school where students perform skits, magic shows, and little dances to get good luck for the new semester starting up soon. Then in the evenings we go out to eat at delicious restaurants with my grandparents. They always order their favorite dishes for us to try.As the second week wraps up, we do one final ritual on the evening of the 15th day to say goodbye to the leaving New Yearand wish it well. It's called the Lantern Festival and my grandparents take us kids out to release beautiful lanterns into the night sky to honor an ancient myth. The whole community is out doing it together and there are amazing lion dances, fireworks, and food stalls selling tasty snacks like tangyuan (little sweet rice balls). As all the glowing lanterns fill up the sky, I feel so lucky to be able to celebrate such an incredible holiday. That's why Chinese New Year is my all-time favorite celebration - because of all the awesome traditions, thetwo-week break, the incredible food, and quality time spent with my whole family. It's just pure joy and happiness crammed into two weeks of vibrant festivities. I can't wait for it to come around again next year! What about you - do you have a favorite holiday that's extra special too? Let me know!篇5My Favorite Holiday: Chinese New YearHi there! My name is Emily and I'm 10 years old. I go to Maple Grove Elementary School here in San Francisco. My favorite holiday of the whole year is Chinese New Year! It's a huge celebration in my family because we are Chinese-American.I look forward to it every single year.Chinese New Year is also called Lunar New Year or Spring Festival. It marks the beginning of the new year on the lunisolar calendar that has been used in China for thousands of years. The date changes every year, but it is always sometime between January 21st and February 20th. This year it fell on January 22nd.In the weeks leading up to the holiday, my mom, dad, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins all get very busy cleaning our homes from top to bottom. We have to sweep away all the bad luck and dust from the old year to make way for good incoming luck and fortune! My parents always give me a little red envelope with money in it for doing my chores and getting good grades. My favorite part is watching my mom make steamed dumplings, noodles, and other delicious foods for our big family feast on New Year's Eve. She makes dumplings in shapes like ingots to represent prosperity and wealth for the new year. We also have a huge fish for the feast because the Chinese word for fish sounds like the word for "surplus" which means prosperity. On New Year's Day, I always wake up early feeling so excited! The first thing I do is put on my new clothes, shoes and slippers that my parents gift me. I'm not allowed to wear old things on this day because it's bad luck. Then I go around the house andgreet my parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles with sayings like "Gong Xi Fa Cai" which means "Congratulations and be prosperous!"My grandparents always give me a red envelope filled with money tucked inside for good luck. I have to be really polite and thank them with both hands on the envelope because that's the custom. One year I forgot and my grandma jokingly refused to give me the envelope until I did it properly! After the gift-giving and greetings, it's time for our huge family feast. We gather around the table and eat all the amazing foods my mom prepared - noodles for longevity, dumplings for prosperity, fish for surplus, sweet desserts for a sweet life. It's so fun with all my cousins and we try not to burp or get in trouble during the meal. Afterwards, the adults like to watch TV and gamble while us kids play games, tell stories, and set off little firecrackers outside if we're allowed.Another fun tradition is watching the amazing New Year's parade here in San Francisco. There are huge colorful dragons and lions made of cloth, lots of firecrackers, and dancers dressed in bright costumes. My favorite part is the lion dancers who move and dance so nimbly with the big lion costume pretending to eat the lettuce leaves for good luck that people hang outsidetheir homes and businesses! I always beg my parents to buy me a red riddle drum to bang on during the parade. We celebrate for 15 full days and there are all sorts of fun activities, traditions and superstitions for each day. On the 15th and final day, there is the Lantern Festival where kids get to carry around bright lanterns and they have lantern riddles, shows and games. It makes me a little sad when it's over because I have to wait a whole year for my favorite holiday to come back around! But then before I know it, my mom is cleaning house again while my dad gets the firecrackers ready...and it's time for another Chinese New Year!I feel so lucky to be Chinese-American and celebrate this amazing holiday every year. It brings my whole family together, teaches me about my culture and heritage, and lets me eat so many yummy foods. Most of all, it's just the most fun with the parades, firecrackers, lion dances and lanterns. I hope you enjoyed learning about my favorite holiday. Gong Xi Fa Cai! Happy Chinese New Year!篇6My Favorite Festival - Chinese New YearHi everyone! I'm so excited to tell you all about my most favorite festival of the year - Chinese New Year! It's the biggest and most important celebration in China and for Chinese people all around the world. Chinese New Year is a festival that's filled with amazing food, fun traditions, lucky red envelopes, and the best part - no school for over a week!Let me start by telling you when Chinese New Year happens. It's not on the same date every year like Christmas or New Year's Day. Instead, it goes by the lunar calendar, which means it's based on the cycles of the moon. Usually Chinese New Year falls sometime in late January or early to mid February. This year it was on January 22nd. The cool thing is that each year is represented by a different animal from the Chinese zodiac. There are 12 animals in total and they repeat in a cycle. 2023 was the Year of the Rabbit. Now let me fill you in on all the awesome traditions and customs we have for Chinese New Year! A few weeks before the big day, my mom starts cleaning our whole house from top to bottom. We have to get rid of any dirt, dust or messiness from the old year to make room for good luck in the new year. My least favorite part is when she makes me clean my room. Nomatter how hard I try, she always finds a sock or toy under my bed that I missed!Once our house is spotless, it's time for decorating. We put up red lanterns, hangings with neat calligraphy designs, and my dad's favorite - a big Chinese knot decoration made of red cords. The most important decoration is the upside-down Chinese character "Fu" which means blessing or good fortune. We place it on our front door so that when it opens, the blessing isright-side up to come into our home for the year ahead.Another major tradition is getting new clothes and shoes for Chinese New Year. My grandma always takes me shopping for a new outfit, usually something red because it's considered a lucky color. I love wearing my new clothes on New Year's Eve for our family reunion dinner. This is when all of my relatives, aunts, uncles, and cousins come over for an epic feast! The dinner spread is insane - my mom and aunts make enough food to feed a whole army! There are lucky dishes like dumplings, fish, noodles, spring rolls, and so much more. Each one has a special meaning like long noodles for longlife. After dinner, my dad gives out red envelopes called "hongbao" with money inside. I always look forward to this part! The red color islucky and the money inside symbolizes wealth and prosperity for us kids in the coming year.Once the clock strikes midnight on New Year's Day, the real celebrations kick off! We watch amazing fireworks shows light up the sky and kids are allowed to stay up way past bedtime. In the following days, we visit with even more relatives and friends. I stuff myself silly with delicious snacks and candy, catch up with my cousins, and they give me even more lucky red envelopes! Sometimes I'm too full and sugared up to do anything but lay on the couch watching TV.Two huge highlights of the New Year festivities are watching beautiful traditional dances and performances, and the dragon and lion dances. The dragon is made of silk, paper, and bamboo and takes a whole team of dancers to operate it. As they make it weave and twirl through the streets, it's supposed to bring good luck and scare off any evil spirits. The lion dances are so energetic and fun to watch too!I've learned that a lot of the customs we do for Chinese New Year started from ancient traditions and beliefs. For example, setting off firecrackers was meant to drive away evil spirits with the loud noise. Giving out red envelopes with money started because the color red was believed to bring good luck. And thebiggest tradition of all - getting together for the reunion dinner - comes from the idea that having your family unified will bring you happiness and good fortune in the year ahead. My favorite memories from Chinese New Year are just being surrounded by my huge, loving family. I get to see all my relatives that I don't get to visit very often. We laugh, pig out on food, watch fun performances, and just celebrate together. For over two weeks, it feels like the whole country takes a break to spend quality time with loved ones.Even though I'm just a kid, I really appreciate all the rich traditions behind Chinese New Year. It's our most important festival because it celebrates the start of a new year, new beginnings, and bringing family together. I love the bright red colors, the noise and excitement, and being surrounded by symbols of luck, happiness, wealth and good fortune to come. Chinese New Year is the absolute best!Well, that's my take on my favorite festival. I hope you all got to learn a bit about the awesome traditions and meanings behind how we celebrate Chinese New Year. If you ever get the chance to experience it, you definitely should. It's a remarkable festival that brings so much joy, togetherness and color towelcome the new year. Doesn't get much better than that! Thanks for reading my essay. Xin Nian Kuai Le (Happy New Year)!。
