以could开头的表示请求的问句，其肯定回答可以用“Sure./Of course./Certainly.”等，也可以用“主语+can/may”，不能用“主语+could”；否定回答可以用“Sorry…”并给出理由，也可以用“主语+can’t/mustn’t”,不能用“主语+couldn’t”

3)代词，意思为两者都不，常与介词of连用。

neither做主语时，谓语动词用单数形式。

(1)在表示请求帮助或请求允许的疑问句中，常用could代替can，以表示礼貌，委婉或不确定的语气，而can则不具备这些语气。

这种情况下不能把could看作can的过去式。

以上两句中用could是为了表示礼貌的请求。

表示请求帮助或请求允许时，除了can, could之外，还可以用may，句子的表达方式也各有不同，可以用不同的方式来表示同一个概念。

例:
——Could/Can/May I use your car for a day?
对于该句型的回答：
如同意可以说Yes，或Sure或Certainly，还可说Yes, (do) please. 或Of course. (you may/can). 或Go ahead, please. 或That’s OK/all right. 如果不同意，可以说I’m sorry you can’t. 或I’m really sorry, but I have to use it today. 要避免说No, you can’t. 这样显得很不礼貌。

否定回答通常用委婉语气。

——Do you mind if I use your car for a day?
对于该句型的回答：
所作回答可以说Never mind. /Not at all. 表不介意。

不能用Yes. /Sure. /Of course. /Certainly.等。

无论肯定还是否定应答中，要避免使用could，要用can或may。

因为应答须用确定的语气。

而could在表请求的问句中是为了表示礼貌或委婉语气，用在应答中则成了不确定语气，与情理不符。

所以应答中不说Yes, you could. 或No, you couldn’t. 而要说Yes, you can. 或Sorry. /No, you can’t.

在主从复合句中做状语的从句叫做状语从句。

1. until引导时间状语从句
until引导时间状语从句，意思为“直到……时”，从句一般位于主句之后
1）主句是肯定句时，谓语用延续性动词，强调主句的动作或状态一直持续到从句的动作发生为止，意思为“直到……”

2)主句是否定句时，谓语用非延续性动词，侧重主句的动作在从句发生之后才开始，译为“直到……才”

2. so that引导状语从句
so that可以引导结果状语从句，意为“因此；所以”，在口语中，that可以省略；也可以引导目的状语从句，意为“为了”，此时从句多用can, could等情态动词。

注意：so…that…也可以引动结果状语从句，意为“如此……以致……”

3. although引导让步状语从句
although引导让步状语从句，与though意义一样，意为“虽然，尽管”，位于句首，句末都可以。

although/though 引导让步状语从句时，主句中不可以出现but,但可以用yet, still 等。
