U1 Making New friends
T1 Welcome to China!
Teaching aims:
1.Letters: A a ------Z z
s: Personal names, Country names, Numerals 0—20.
3.Target language:
Is she Maria? Yes, she is. / No, she isn’t.
What’s your name. My name is Maria.
How are you? I’m fine. Thank you.
Nice to meet you.
Who is she? She is Maria. Where is she from? She is from Cuba.
What grade are you in? I’m in Class 2, Grade 7.
How old are you? I’m twelve years old.
What’s your phone number?
4. Preparation:
Letter cards. New word cards.
The 1st period ( Students’ Book P.1 to P.2)
Step 1
Give the students a self-introduction and tell them to call me “Miss li”
Step 2
Tell the students how to greet each other. Tell them the meaning of “Hi, Hello, & Good morning.”
Step 3
Listen and say
A: Hi! B: Hi!
A: I’m A. Are you …(a student’s name)
B: Yes, I am.
A: Nice to meet you.
B: Nice to meet You, too.
A: What’s your name, please?
B: My name is ….
A: Welcome to Class 2.
B: Thank you.
Write the dialogue on the blackboard and teach the students to read .
Ask the students to talk with the teacher using the sentences above. Step 4
1.To teach how to read and write letters Aa Bb Cc Dd Ee Ff Gg
2. Practice Writing the letters Aa to Gg
Teacher show the students how to write on the blackboard .
Then ask the students to write on the paper.
Step 5
Ask the students to open the books P.1. Make them understand the pictures. Then play the tape and ask the students to listen and repeat.(from P.1-P2) Step 6
Homework:
Copy the letters from Aa to Gg 10 times for each.
The 2nd period (Students’ Book P.3)
S tep 1 Revision
1. Ask students to greet each other. Like the text P.1 & P.2
2. To recite the letters Aa—Gg. In pairs and groups.
3. To read the letter cards to be shown randomly individually,
4. Read after the tape P.1 to P.2
Step 2
Teach letters Hh---Nn P.3 2a
1.teach how to read.
2.teach how to write. Then ask the students to write on the
exercise-book.
3.read and recite to
Step 3 P.3 1
1.Look at the pictures.
Teacher ask(using English and Chinese):
Who are the people in the picture? ( a teacher and some students.)
What are they doing? ( Greeting )
How are they greeting?( They are saying . “Good morning and”
“Nice to meet you.”)
Then read the dialogue
2. Use the same way to teach
3.Play the tape and ask the students to read after the tape.
Step 4 P.3 2B
Teacher read first. Ask the students to follow. Then read after the tape and explain the meaning.
Step 5 Homework:
1.To read and write the letters from Hh to Nn (10 times)
2.make the letter cards: Aa to Nn
The 3rd period ( Students’ Book P.4)
Step 1 Revision
1.Read the letter charts from Aa to Nn. According to the flash cards
to be shown randomly.
2.Letters game: from Aa to Nn. [ Students show letter cards one by
one, ask: What’s this? Get the others to answer “it’s…” ]
3.Read and act out the dialogues in P.2 & P.3
Step 2
Teach the letters Oo to Tt
1.Teacher read. Ask the students to follow. Read aloud and clearly.
2.Show them how to write.
3.Ask the students to copy the letters Oo to Tt in their
Exercise-Books.
Step 3
Learn to spell English words: Teacher show the students the word cards. Then teach them to spell like “good, g-o-o-d good.”“morning …”
Step 4
1. To learn how to introduce like “This is (A/ B/ C).”
(A/ B/ C are the students names. )
Teacher show the students how to introduce:
Teacher ( point student B to student A):A! This is B.
( point student A to student B): B. This is A.
Then ask them to say “Nice to meet you” to each other.
2.Get the students to read the dialogue after the tape P.4 3a
Step 4. Teach 4b
Teacher read first. Ask the students to follow. Then read after the tape and explain the meaning.
Step 5. Homework:
1)Copy the letters Oo to Tt 8 times each.
2) Recite the new words(1)
3) Make the letter cards Oo to Tt
The 4th period ( Students’ Book P.5)
Step 1 Revision
1.Read the letters from Aa to Tt According to the flash cards to be shown. Get the students to identify all the letters from Aa to Tt by showing the letter cards randomly.
2.Introduction: Students show the letter cards from Oo to Tt, ask and answer “What’s this? It’s an Oo/ Pp/…”
3.Read the letters P.4 4b
Step 2
Teach the letters Uu to Zz
1.Teacher read. Ask the students to follow. Read aloud and clearly.
2. Show them how to write.
3. Ask the students to copy the letters Uu to Zz in their Exercise-Book Step 3
Section C 1 P.5
1.Ask the students to look the pictures and teach them to greet each
other like people in the picture.
2.Teach the students to spell the new words in Section C. They’re the
new words: are, how, you, fine, thank, gook-bye, see, tomorrow, bad,
Afternoon ,Miss Wang, later .
Step 4 Letters game: Teacher ask “Where is Uu/Vv…?” Get the students to show the letter cards and answer “It’s here.”
Step 5 Homework:
1. Copy the letters Uu to Zz 8 times each.
2.Recite the new words: Recite the new words(2) on page 109
The 5 period ( Students’ Book P.6)
Step 1 Revision
1.Read the letters from Aa to Zz According to the flash cards to be shown. Get the students to identify all the letters from Aa to Zz by showing the letter cards randomly.
2.Dictation on a piece of paper from Uu to Zz.
3. Spell the new words :
(teacher show the students some word cards and ask them to spell.)es Teach the ABC Song
Let the students listen to the tape, follow and sing a song. The first time, get the girls to sing, the second time, boys sing. Practice in groups, in teams. Then in class.
Step 3
1. Teach some new words: (Use the flash cards.)
to, know, yes, my, name, what, nice, meet, too, please
2. Teach how to write the new words.
3. Students. To write the new words in their Exercise- Book
Step 4
Homework:
1.Copy the letters Aa to Zz
2. Recite the new words Recite the new words(3) on page 109
The 6 period ( Students’ Book P.7 to P.8 Section D)
Step 1 Revision
1.check the homework. Say something about the handwriting.
2.Read after the tape from P.2 to P.4
Step 2
Read and act P.5 Section C 1
Step 3
Teach Section D 2 Pair work
Get the students to work in pair first. Then fill in the blank.
Step 4

Read the sentences and get the students to understand “I am…

Step 5 Read the new words on Word list on page 109. and recite them. Step 6

1. Read and copy the Useful expressions in P.8
