StepⅠ Warm-up（热身）
1.Discuss the title of Lesson 29 and the Think About It questions.
Teacher: What are ambitions and dreams?
Students: An ambition is a goal. /A dream is a hope or a wish.
Teacher: Great. Knowing our goals and hopes comes from knowing ourselves. What does it mean to know yourself?
Students: To know yourself means know what you like and what you don’t like, what makes you happy and unhappy, what you’re good at and what you’re not good at.
Teacher: Right. How well do you know yourselves?
Students: I know myself quite well, but I still have much to learn.
Teacher: Good answer. The better you know yourself, the better you’ll be able to choose a path that is right for you. Is it important to choose the right path for your dreams? Why?
Students: Because when you choose the right path, you will have a happy and successful life.
Teacher: Yes. In this lesson Li Ming writes Danny an e-mail to tell him about his ambitions and dreams. Let’s read and find out what Li Ming’s goals are.
StepⅡ Presentation（讲课）
1. Play the audiotape for Lesson 29 twice.
2. Learn new words and new phrases while you explain the text. And then explain the uses of these words and phrases.
ambition n.抱负；雄心
fisherman n. 渔夫；渔民（pl. fishermen）
policewoman n. 女警察（pl. policemen; policeman n. 男警察（pl. policemen）
artist n. 艺术家；（尤指）画家
choice n. 选择（动词为choose）
path n.途径；小路
strict adj.严厉的；严格的
punish v. 处罚；惩罚
grow up 长大
be good at 擅长（相当于do well in, 后面跟名词、代词或动名词）
make a list制作一张清单

4. Explain the main structures.
①The main thing is to know yourself and to choose the right path for you.最主要的事情是
要了解自己，并为自己选择正确的路。

to know yourself和to choose the right path是两个不定式短语作表语，表示主语的内容。

②She is strict but nice.她很严格却很友好。

strict是形容词，表示“严格的，严厉的”，常用结构有be strict with sb.（对某人要求严格）；be strict in sth.（对某事要求严格）。

例如：
Our head teacher is strict with us.我们班主任对我们要求很严格。

5. Instruct the students to read the text and answer the questions of the Part One in “Let’s Do It!”. And then check the answers.
6. Ask the students to listen to the tape and complete the Part Two of “Let’s Do It!”.
7. Give the students enough time to finish the Part Three of “Let’s Do It!”.
Step Ⅲ Practice
1. Talk about the question “What are you going to be when you grow up?” in pairs. And write down the answers. Then write a report about it.
2. Write a passage about how to make your ambition come true .
Step Ⅳ Homework
1. Recite new words and phrases.
