The 70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VXD (model A056) is a fast standard telephoto zoom lens developed for mirrorless full format cameras from Sony. Its most outstanding feature is the high image quality with a consistently high open aperture of F/2.8 as well as its handy housing. With a length of only 149 mm (at 70mm) and a weight of only 810 g, it is the lightest and most compact lens in its class 1. Several special optical glasses ensure excellent imaging performance from the centre to the edges of the image. Automatic focusing takes place with the VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) autofocus newly developed by Tamron. The short focusing distance of 0.85 m opens up new photographic expression options for the user. A special feature of the 70-180mm F/2.8 is its ability to focus an object at 70mm with manual focus from a short distance of only 0.27m 2. With this lightweight telephoto zoom lens, you can get close to the motif in any situation - and reward yourself with a perfect shot!
Versatile lenses with a uniform filter size
All available Tamron E-mount lenses have the same filter thread (ø 67 mm), so that the same filters and lens caps can be used with all models. All lenses are similarly compact and can be easily transported as a set.

The VXD autofocus is a world première: It is the first linear focus motor developed by Tamron for o u t s t a n d i n g a u t o m a t i c f o c u s i n g . T w o V X D modules, which operate in
a floating system and are controlled by electronic
pulses, ensure fast and precise focusing on near and far lenses. The new motor also guarantees improved AF tracking, for example when shooting sports. The autofocus works so quietly at the same time that you can take pictures even in situations that require absolute silence. In short: When it matters, you can rely on the 70-180mm F/2.8 -
whether you're taking photos or videos.
The shortest focusing distance of the 70-180mm F/2.8 is only 0.85 m regardless of the selected focal length. This is exceptionally short for a fast telephoto zoom lens. At 180mm, this results in a maximum image scale of 1:4.6 -
ideal for expressive close-ups.
