定义：表示在过去的某一时刻或某一动作发生之前己经完成的动作或情况，即“过去的过去”。

结构：主语+had+动词的过去分词
汤米已经把硬币吞了下去。

1.在过去某个特定的时间正在进行或发生的动作。

2.当过去的一个动作发生的时候另外一个动作正在进行。

3.结构：主语+was/wer e+动词的现在分词
4.when、while、just as引导的时间状语从句

While my friend , George, was reading in bed , two thieves climed into his kitchen.
After they had entered the house,
they went into the dining room.
It was very dark,so they turned on a torch.
Suddenly , they heard a voice behind them. 'What's up? What's up ?'someone called. The thieves dropped the torch
and ran away as quickly as they could.
George heard the noise.
and came downstairs quickly .
He turned on the light,
but he couldn't see anyone. The thieves had already gone.
But George's parrot , Henry, was still there. 'What's up ,George ?'he called.
'Nothing,Henry,'George said and smiled. 'Go back to sleep.'

表示全体中的部分

while强调动作的延续性
when既可指延续性动作，也可指短暂的、突然发生的动作•While my father was cooking, the doorbell rang. •When I was doing the housework, my friend called me. •George, 做my friend的同位语，补充说明my friend。

•climb into… 爬到… 里面去

had +动词的过去分词
描述发生在过去某一动作之前的另一动作，用过去完成时。

Sum up
两个动作都发生在过去，发生在前的动作用过去完成时，发生在后的用一般过去时。

本课当中出现before和after引导的时间状语从句
before+一般过去时，主句用过去完成时
after+ 过去完成时，主句用一般过去时

连词so，所以、因此，表示结果。
