Use active verbs
• In general, active verbs are more effective than passive verbs. Active verbs give your writing a simpler and more vigorous style.
Fruits and vegetables are painted often by artists. Artists often paint fruits and vegetables.
Use specific words
• Use descriptive words (modifiers) before nouns • The man strained to lift the crate. • A heavy-set, perspiring man strained to lift the heavy wooden crate.
Use concise words
