Lesson 1
Teaching Objectives:
1. Learn and review the new words: drawing, paints, paper, artist, backpack, camera, busy, opposite.
2. Read the text fluently and accurately.
3. Understand the main idea of the text.
Teaching Procedures:
Step 1: Warm-up
1. Greet the students and ask them if they like drawing.
2. Show the students some pictures of famous paintings and ask if anyone knows the name of the painting and the artist who drew it.
Step 2: Presentation
1. Play the recording of the text so that the students can listen carefully to it.
2. Have the students read the text aloud in pairs.
3. Introduce and explain the new words: drawing, paints, paper, artist, backpack, camera, busy, opposite.
4. Ask the students some questions to help them understand the text:
a. What was the artist doing in the park?
b. What did she put in her backpack?
c. What did she draw in the park?
d. Did she take any photos?
e. Was the park busy or quiet?
Step 3: Comprehension check
1. Ask the students some questions about the text to check their understanding:
a. What did the artist like to do in the park?
b. What did the artist put in her backpack?
c. What did the artist draw in the park?
d. Did the artist take any photos?
e. Was the park busy or quiet?
2. Have the students answer the questions in pairs.
Step 4: Consolidation
1. Encourage the students to draw a picture of their favorite thing in the park.
2. Have the students present their drawings to the class.
Step 5: Homework
1. Ask the students to draw a picture of their favorite thing in the park.
2. Ask the students to write a short paragraph (around 50 words) describing their drawing and why they chose that particular thing.
3. Ask the students to practice reading the text aloud at home.
Teaching Tips:
1. Encourage the students to ask questions during the lesson if they are unsure about anything.
2. Help the students to build their vocabulary by breaking down new words and exploring their meanings.
3. Provide the students with plenty of opportunities to practice reading, writing and speaking in class.。
