I’d like to introduce some items below I’ve considered necessary and perfect for any parent hitting the road with kids over the summer.
Made-on lotion’s bug block
Camping outdoors, I’ve always tried to avoid the chemical bug sprays(喷雾杀虫剂)and tried a bug block recently. It comes in bar form and softens when rubbed into the skin. It is safe for all ages. It’s not a liquid so it won’t flow.
Inflatable potty
Kids tend to be schedule dependent and bad-tempered when they miss naps during travel. Enter the inflatable potty. This product first went into my backpack when I had two year olds and a baby and it didn’t come out of my pack until the last child turned five, ten years later! It’s tiny, and provides a safe, clean, child-sized “facility” anywhere and everywhere.
Eco-friendly snack bags
We were delighted to find washable, reusable snack and sandwich bags and have found them handy for so many more things than food! It’s easy to wipe off when something broken in the bag. I also use them as my daughter’s make-up bag.
Vital ID safety armbands
For years I printed name and info tags for our kids when traveling and pinned them to their clothing. They are marked and personal information is hidden inside the pocket which protects them from those who might be looking for a way to lure a child away by name. The more you travel with kids, the more important it is to have safety measure.
Thinkbaby sunscreen
I’m equally nervous about sunscreen. But I don’t want my kids to be sun-burned and at an increased risk for skin cancer later, so what’s traveling Mama to do? Thinkbaby produces safe products for use on children, and adults too! Their sunscreen is scary chemical free.

While waiting to pick up a friend at the airport, I had one of those life changing experiences. While waiting, I noticed a man coming toward me carrying two bags. He stopped right next to me to greet his family.
First, he greeted his younger son as he laid down his bags. They gave each other a long and loving hug. I heard the father say, “It’s so good to see you, son. I miss you so much!”His son smiled somewhat shyly, and replied softly, “Me too, Dad!”
Then the man stood up, looked at his older son and said, “You’re already quite a young man. I love you very much!” They hugged a most loving hug.
While this was happening, a baby girl was squirming(来回扭动)excitedly in her mother’s arms. The man said, “Hi, baby!”as he gently took the child from her mother. He quickly kissed her face all over and then held her close to his chest.
After several moments, he handed his daughter to his older son and declared, “I’ve saved the best for last!” and gave his wife the long, deepest kiss I ever remember seeing. He looked at her eyes for several seconds and then quickly said, “I love you so much!” For an instant, they reminded me of newly-weds but I knew they couldn’t be. I was puzzled about it for a moment, then realized how totally I was lost in the wonderful show of unconditionally love not more than an arm’s length away from me. I suddenly felt uncomfortable, as if I were invading something sacred, but was surprised to hear my own voice nervously ask, “Wow! How long have you two been married?”
“Fourteen years,” he replied without leaving his eyes from his wife’s face.
“Then how long have you been away?” The man finally looked at me, still giving his joyous smile and told me, “Two whole days!”

The history of email is older than the Internet. It was not really invented but developed from simple beginnings. Email messages at first were not sent; they were left behind like leaving a note on someone’s desk. This message would be easily seen by the user when logged on.
The first email system of this type was called MAILBOX. It was used in 1965 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. SNDNSG was another early program that could send messages on the same computer. Thus before the arrival of the Internet, email messaging was only done with the same computer. When the Internet was developed, the problem at the time was sending the message to the right person. While the computers could recognize and talk to each other, identifying(证实)a particular person to receive the email message was not simple at all.
Addressing the email message was invented in1972 by Ray Tomlinson. He chose “@”from the keyboard for denoting(标明) sending messages from one computer to the other. Since then, using the Internet to send an email message has been simple. Other email features such as labeling and sorting email in folders came later. Larry Roberts invented some email folders for his boss for sorting his email; it was a big step forward. Later, John Vital developed a software in 1975 for organizing email.
It was difficult to connect to the Internet and make replies. Offline readers helped a lot to solve this problem. It allowed users to store their email on their personal computers, then read them and prepare replies without being connected to the network. This is similar to today’s Microsoft Outlook.
63. We know that the earliest email messages were ______.
A. sent among several computers
B. not sent but left behind on a computer
C. not easy to be seen by the computer user
D. often read by the user without being logged on
64. When the Internet was developed, the problem that people faced was how to ______.
A. talk to other computers
B. receive email messages in time
C. recognize other computers
D. send email messages to the right person
65. What is the CORRECT time order of the following events?
① A software used for organizing email was developed.
② The symbol “@” was chosen for denoting sending messages.
③ MAILBOX was first used.
④ The function of sorting email in folders was developed.
A. ③②④①
B. ②③④①
C. ③②①④
D. ②③①④
66. What is the passage mainly about?
A. The relationship between email and the Internet.
B. The importance of the invention of the Internet.
C. A short history of email messaging.
D. Different ways to send email.

Do you often find yourself buried in lots of work and not knowing where to start? Or, are you often rushing to meet deadlines? This is a common problem for many managers with an increasing workload. At a very important time, it makes us nervous to achieve goals on time, which in turn can hurt the quality of our work. Becoming more organized in your working style can help make for a smoother sail at work.
Plan ahead: This is an obvious starting point, but the key is to stick to it, and to keep revising plans as things change. Set both long-term plans as well as a daily list of tasks. “Put things on your calendar rather than let things lead the calendar”, says Ongmu Gombu. “This calendar should list tasks by priority(优先), with the ‘most important task’ placing at number one,” says Mr. Gombu. Planning ahead will help you gain a task that comes seasonally.
Prioritize: Once you know what needs to be done, be clear about what to do first. If you need help deciding, talk to your boss. Another way of prioritizing tasks is by understanding what has more impact on the business. An important part of prioritizing is to finish your work even if you have a comfortable deadline.
Keep cool: Often your well-planned and well-prioritized list will be thrown away by an event outside your control. Don’t let this put you totally off track. Keep yourself cool, because getting nervous and stressed about all that needs to be done will probably make you mad. Take a few deep breaths, and start with the most important task first. If you can’t decide one of two tasks, just pick one by throwing a coin. By doing this, you at least start moving toward your goal rather than wasting time.
Get help: When work comes at the same time and it seems like everything has to be done right away, seek help from your co-workers. This will ease the pressure and help you do a better job. It’s a two-way road, so be ready to help your co-workers in their times of need. Or even better, volunteer to do so when you have time. If you are a manager, groom your team members for more senior roles and give them power to make decisions so that you can rely on them when needed.
67. Which of the following might be the best title for the passage?
A. How to better manage your time
B. My opinions on time
C. Time is important
D. Nervous or easy
68. From the passage, we can know that ______.
A. planning ahead is the most important thing to finish your work
B. you can pick tasks by throwing a coin whenever and wherever
C. it is wise to do your tasks just on your own every time
D. it is important to learn what to do first after you decide your tasks
69. The underlined word “groom” in Paragraph 5 can be replaced by “______”.
A. control
B. lead
C. train
D. praise
70. The passage is most likely to be chosen from a ______.
A. personal diary
B. career(事业)magazine
C. travel guide
D. science report

Recycling means transforming used materials into useful products. So recycling is the processing of waste materials in order to make them reusable. In this process these used materials are stored and processed to be used as “raw materials” for the production of new products. Used plastic bottles, glass, and newspapers can be effectively recycled.
The process of recycling protects the environment. For instance, we know that paper is manufactured from trees. As the demand for paper increases, a number of trees are being cut to produce paper. By recycling paper, we can prevent the destruction of forests. Today, a number of forests are being destroyed to meet the ever increasing demand for paper. Believe it or not, recycling a ton of used paper is bound to save twelve trees, which in turn saves our natural resources.
Processing raw materials needs a considerable amount of energy resources. Recycling used materials reduces energy requirements in many manufacturing processes, which can greatly reduce the pressure on energy resources. We all know that pollution does exist in our daily life in the form of plastic, empty cans, chemicals and ordinary waste. So recycling is an effective solution to this problem.
As the old saying goes, “Every coin has two sides.” While recycling has many positive effects, there are also some negative effects of recycling.
If recycling is not managed properly, the dump can severely damage the surrounding environment. Also harmful chemicals in the trash can mix into water and soil. This can cause water and soil pollution and harm plants and fish in the streams and lakes. When it gets mixed with rainwater, a poisonous mixture is formed. This mixture can be highly dangerous if it reaches the water supplies. When rainwater falls on open dumps, most of the polluted water runs deep into the ground and pollutes the ground water.
There is no guarantee that the new recycled products will be of good quality. This is because recycling involves manufacturing products from used materials.
Although many find plastic convenient for everyday use, it is quite difficult to recycle this material. There are different kinds of plastic and they need to be sorted to make a useful recycled product. One cannot simply manufacture a new product by coming different kinds of plastic.

第二节:书面表达(满分20分)
Dear Principal Wang,
I am a senior one student. I have known that the playground of our school will be rebuilt recently. I love sports very much, so I can’t help writing to you on this matter.
Here are my suggestions for the new playground. According to what I have seen before, many students like to play table tennis between classes, but there are not enough such tables, so please add some more for us. Besides, it will be better if the basketball court is built away from the gate of the gym, in case the basketball hurts students who enter or go out of the playground. What’s more, I hope that an indoor pool will be set up, for swimming is not only a kind of good exercise, but also a living skill. In the end, we will be happy if we can take exercise on the new playground on weekends as well.
I am looking forward to your reply.
Yours sincerely,
Wang Hua

W: Well, she said she would go to Paris with me this month, but she suddenly changed her mind.
M: Do you know why?
W: No. I didn’t give her a chance to explain.
M: As far as I know, your mother loves you very much. She is just busy with her work.
W: I don’t know why she has to work so hard.
M: I think she wants to make more money for you. You know, you’ll go to college next year. It’s costly.
W: I guess you are right.
M: Your mother must feel very sad now.
W: I’ll go home and apologize to her tonight.
Text 9:
W: It’s a new cellphone. When did you buy it?
M: I went shopping with Alice yesterday morning. She liked the design of the phone and wanted me to buy it.
W: It looks beautiful. So how did you deal with your old phone?
M: I gave it to my brother. He lost his last week.
W: How did that happen?
M: He had a picnic in the mountain with some of his friends. It must have fallen out of his pocket.
W: Did he go back and look for it?
M: No. It’s far away. Besides, he had used it for over three years.
W: It’s unbelievable. Why didn’t he get a new one?
M: He thought it was a waste of money.
W: He is really a good boy.
M: You can say so. So how long have your been using your phone?
W: I bought it in May.
M: You’ve used it for just three months.

Everyone wants to be young and healthy. But if you have some bad habits, you are not living in a healthy way. If you smoke, drink too much, don’t do exercise and don’t eat in a healthy way, you must be very careful. According to a new study, you will look 12 years older than your real age because of these four bad habits.
The study has followed about 5,000 British adults for 20 years. It shows that bad habits can lead to disease and death. The study tells us that we should live a healthy life. If we don’t, we may become ill easily.
In the study, 314 people had all the four unhealthy habits. 91 of them died during the study. At the same time, among the 37 healthiest people who had none fo the four habits, only 32 died. The fur dangerous habits are smoking, having more than three drinks every day for men and more than two drinks every day for women, getting less than two hours of exercise every week, and eating fruit and vegetables less than three times every day.
“We hope our study can help people pay more attention to their lifestyles so that they can stay healthy,” said one researcher. So if you want to stay healthy, stay away from the four bad habits.。
