第二部分阅读理解(满分40分)阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。

21.(6分)When it's five o'clock, people leave their office. The length of the workday, for many workers, is defined by time. They leave when the clocks tell them they’re done.
These days, the time is everywhere: not just on clocks or watches, but on cellphones and computers. That may be a bad thing, particularly at work. New research shows that clock based work schedules hinder creativity.
Clock-timers organize their day by blocks of minutes and hours. For example: a meeting from 9 a. m. to 10 a. m, research from 10 a. m to noon, etc. On the other hand, task-timers have a list of things they want to accomplish. They work down the list, each task starts when the previous task is completed. It is said that all of us employ a mix of both these types of planning.
What, then, are the effects of thinking about time in these different ways? Does one make us more productive? Better at the tasks at hand? Happier? In experiments conducted by Tamar Avnet and Anne-Laure Sellier, they had participants organize different activities from project planning, holiday shopping, to yoga by time or to-do list to measur e how they performed under “ clock time” vs. “ task time”. They found clock timers to be more efficient(有效率的) but less happy because they felt little control over their lives. Task timers are happier and more creative, but less productive. They tend to enjoy the moment when something good is happening, and seize opportunities that come up.
The researchers argue that task-based organizing tends to be undervalued and under-supported in the business culture. This might be a small change to the way we view work and the office, but the researchers argue that it challenges a widespread characteristic of the economy: work organized by clock time. While most people will still probably need, and be, to some extent, clock-timers, task-based timing should be used when performing a job that requires more creativity. It’ll make those tasks easier, and the task-doers will be happier.
1、What does the author say a clock-based work?
A.It makes workers very tired.
B.It reminds workers to leave on time.
C.It makes workers aware of the precious time.
D.It may have a bad effect on the creativity.
2、What does the underlined word “hinder” in paragraph 2 mean?
A.Block. B.Consider.
C.Increase. D.Value.
3、What did Tamar Avnet and Anne-Laure Sellier find in their experiments about clock-timers?
A.They seize opportunities as they come up.
B.They always get their work done in time.
C.They tend to be more productive.
D.They can control their lives.
4、What do the researchers suggest?
A.Task-based timing is preferred for doing creative work.
B.It is important to keep a balance between work and life.
C.Performing creative jobs tends to make workers happier.
D.A scientific standard should be adopted in job evaluation.
22.(8分)Every year from March to October, Christian Moullec, also kno wn as “Birdman,” takes to the skies aboard his adapted light aircraft. However, the 58-year-old Frenchman’s daily 30-minute flight is not just to enjoy the impressive views, but to guide flocks (鸟群) of lesser white-fronted geese (小白额雁) through safe migration paths which the birds can teach future generations.
His deed began in 1995 when he noticed their declining population in the wilds of Lapland, Sweden. To prevent their numbers from dropping further, Moullec tried to get the threatened species to follow him along migration routes that would protect them from bird hunters.
However, getting grown geese to follow his lead proved challenging. As young geese imitate and follow whomever they view as their parent, Moullec decided to raise the geese from birth.
To help raise funds and awareness of his job to protect not just the geese but birds worldwide, Moullec often allows paying tourists to join him on the 30-minute-long flights aboard his aircraft. In addition to the trained birds flying alongside them, visitors, who come from as far as a 15-hour plane flight away, are treated to a variety of crane and geese species as well as breathtaking views of castles and cities.
He often brings his camera along for the flights, capturing photos not just for their beauty, but for what they describe. Moullec believes the use of agricultural chemicals has done harm to wild European birds, with more than a third disappearing in the last 30 years. “It's a disaster,” he said. “My beautiful images with flying birds should be use d to tell this story. ”
1、Why does “Birdman” always fly to the sky on his aircraft?
A.To observe geese along their migration routes.
B.To follow geese through safe migration paths.
C.To take visitors to operate his adapted aircraft.
D.To guide geese fly safely during the migration.

3、What does Moullec often take photos in his flights for?
A.Recording the use of agricultural chemicals.
B.Showing serious damage caused by chemicals.
C.Describing his experiences with flying birds.
D.Capturing the beautiful views of birds and cities.
4、What can be a suitable title for the text?
A.Birdman Guides Flocks to Learn to Fly.

(8分)The recent high-profile movie Crazy Rich Asians shows a side of Singapore that most people-not even Singaporeans —don’t get to see. While the story is la rgely set in Singapore, filming took place both in the city state and neighbouring Malaysia. Attractions such as Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands and Malaysia’s heritage Cheong Fatt Sze Mansion appeal to people.
Crazy Rich Asians is by no means the only movie to be filmed in these areas. Here are five international films that you may not have known were set or filmed in Singapore or Malaysia.

Based on the true story of British investment broker Nick Leeson, it is about how he lost $2.2 billion through risky trades in Singapore and brought down Barings, Britain’s oldest merchant bank. 3. SAINT JACK (1979)
This controversial adaptation of Paul Theroux’s novel was groundbreaking in that it was the first Hollywood movie to be filmed entirely on location in Singapore — without government approval, though.
4. LUST, CAUTION (2007)
Directed by Oscar-winner Ang Lee, this spy thriller, set in Hong Kong and Shanghai during the 1930s and 1940s, is about a group of students who plan to assassinate (刺杀) an intelligence chief. Locations in Ipoh and Penang in Malaysia were used for this time period due to their prewar architecture.
5. ENTRAPMENT (1999)
This thriller shows Kuala Lumpur’s Petronas Twin Towers several times. However, the then Malaysian Prime Minister was reportedly displeased that the film showed the great landmark next to small dirty houses — in reality, they are surrounded by large, luxurious gardens.

25.(10分)In his new show, Evan Ruggiero plays guitar, sings pop standards and shows everybody his fine footwork. What makes all of these especially unusual is that Ruggiero, 24, has only one leg.
When he was a 19-year-old musical theater student at New Jersey's Montclair State University, Ruggiero had a rare bone cancer in his right leg. Finally his leg would have to be amputated(截)below the knee.
Such a setback could have easily ended the career of a less tough person, but Ruggiero, who has been dancing since he was five, now puts the experience into his performance. His show, "The One-Legged Song and Dance Man: Volume 3", explains how he returned to dance just 18 months after the amputation. His dance now relies on the use of a peg leg(假肢),he explains.
The secret to his surprising success, he says, was being a "stubborn" patient who refused to give up on his dance and performing studies, despite the advice of his doctor.
“It was a real setback, but after it was all over, I said, ' You know what? I need to pick up right where I left off and continue my career, '” Ruggiero said.
Ruggiero has come to view his peg leg as an instrument. "Tap dancers-they're always calling themselves musicians, and their feet are their instrument, " he said.
Noting that many audience members will never have seen a one-legged dancer before coming to his show, Ruggiero says he won't shy away from the physical "weakness" his performance shows because of his condition.
“A lot of people have come up to me, and they always say, ‘You're such a role model and an inspiration’,” he said. “I'm honored when people say that, of course, but I'm just trying to get on with my life.”

I am one of the few man who work as a nursery school teacher in London. Most of my kids come from families on problems. It's surprised how very young children understand or are aware of things that go wrong in home. This, of
course, affects them and sometimes make them very difficult to deal. At such times you have to be very patient with them.
I don't think that women are natural better with children than men are. Anybody who is preparing to understand and help children, and who has the right qualities can look after them and teach them. The qualities are there, in all men and women, but most men don't use them. I think my group of children rather like being with a man for the change, especially since they don't see their fathers very much. So I don't feel I'm doing a ‘woman's job’; in fact, as a man, I feel I can bring something extra to the job.
