Unit4 How do you get to school?
Hello,everyone! I am glad to stand here to share some of my teaching ideas with all of you. My topic is “How do you get to school? ”taken from unit 4 in Go for it ! It is made up of 4 parts.
Part I My understanding of this lesson
The analysis of the teaching material: This is a listening and speaking lesson. It is the first period of this unit and plays an important role in the whole unit. By studying this lesson, students can learn some new words and phrases about transportations, talk about how to get to places in English;Besides, they can know how to describe the time and the distances in English.
Teaching Aims:
1. Knowledge aim: by the end of this lesson, students can master the new words and phrases about transportations, and they can use the special questions which start with how to describe the time, the distances and the ways of transportation.
2. Ability aim: by the end of this lesson, students can use what they have learnt in their daily life and communicate with others in English.
3. Emotional aim: by the end of this lesson, students can choose appropriate transportation correctly and consciously. What’s more, students can have a good understanding of traffic rules.
Teaching Important Points
How to ask and answer the question about the ways to get to some places, the time and the distance are the important points in this class.
Teaching Difficult Points
The use of the two prepositions.
Part II Teaching Methods and Aids
Teaching methods:In this class, I will use listening and speaking teaching method, question-and-answer teaching method, free discussion and pair work teaching method.
Teaching aids: tape recorder, cards, chalk, blackboard and textbook.
Part III Teaching Procedures
I have designed the following steps to train the students’ability of listening and speaking.
Step 1 Revision
Help students have a revision of what they have learnt last class, and then ask them to read the words in this unit.
Step 2 Lead-in
I will show students some pictures about transportation and ask them two questions: Q1: What’s this in English? Q2: Is this…?
Students should answer my questions in English, and then I will ask them the way they get to school to lead them to the topic of this unit.
Step 3 Presentation
I will teach students how to ask and answer the ways to get to places, the time and distances. And then give them some examples, after presenting I will ask students to finish the exercise 1a and ask them to do some question-and-answer activities to consolidate what they have learnt just now.
Step 4 Listening
I will play the radio to students and ask them to finish 1b, 2a, 2b. Then correct their answers.
Step 5 Pair work
Ask students to make their own conversations according to the picture on page19 and 2d on page20. Next, I will ask several pairs to show their conservations in front of the class.
Step 6 Conclusion
Make a conclusion of what they have learnt this class and list them on the black board.
Step 7 Homework
Ask them to remember the new words and review what we they have learnt today. Part IV Blackboard Design。
