The two kinds of rasing ways are totally different and have both advantages and disadvantages. I can't tell which one is better or meaningful, but I know both of them are expressions of love.
Different people hold different way of rasing children which has been well demonstrated in my family. In the past twenty years, my mother and my father have been very different in the way of rasing me.

My mother is a native southerner who has the gentle qualities of a southern female. My father is a tough guy in my mind who never gets depressed or cries. I still remember that when I was in primary school, I often couldn't finish my homework. If I haven't finished my homework at ten in the evening, my mother would comfort me that if I tried my best, I didn't need to do all of my homework and she would tell the teacher my situation. But my father would urge me to finish my homework and he would accompany me until I finish my homework. They also have different views on my free time. My mother hopes me to be an elegant lady, so she wants me to study dancing and piano in my spare time and she believes that it will benefit me all my life. In contrast, my father thinks it doesn't make much sense to learn these things. Instead, he thinks I should learn something practical, such as driving a car or mastering something technical. In addition, when I come across obstacles or failures, my mother always comforted me and encouraged me to be positive and optimistic and told me that she would support me and stay with me. However, my father only told me that I shouldn't cry for it and I should be a strong, independent female just like a man.
