高三作文复习(四)
Whether or not --- Owning a private car
Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic Whether or not --- Owning a private car. You should write no less than 150 words and base your composition on the outline (given in Chinese) below:
1.小汽车开始进入中国普通家庭
2.小汽车带来的方便和舒适
3.小汽车带来的交通和污染问题
With the increase in the general standard of living, some ordinary Chinese families begin to afford a car. Yet opinions of owning a private car vary from person to person.
Some claim that there are many advantages in possessing a car. It gives a much greater degree of comfort and mobility. The owner of a car is no longer forced to rely on public transport, and hence no irritation caused by waiting for buses or taxies. With a car he can go where he likes and when he wants, so much so that he can enjoy his leisure to the full by making trips to the country or seaside on the weekends, instead of being confined to his immediate neighborhood. However, others strongly object to developing private cars. They maintain that as more and more cars are produced and run in the street, a large volume of poisonous gas will be given off, polluting the atmosphere and causing actual harm to the health of people. In fact, private cars contribute to traffic congestion so greatly that the advantages gained in comfort and freedom are often cancelled out by the frustration caused by traffic jams.
Whether private cars should be owned in China is a difficult question to answer, yet the desire for the comfort and independence a private car can bring won’t be eliminated.

None of us thought Ethan could do it, but he did quite well. His mom paid him $200. He went out and bought a TV, the biggest he could find.
In recent years, hundreds of schools have carried out experiments with paying kids with each for showing up or getting good grades. All school kids admire this trend. But it upsets adults. Teachers say that we are rewarding kids for doing what they should be doing of their own will. Psychologists warn that money can actually make kids perform worse by making the act of learning cheap. The debate has become a typical battle over why our kids are not learning at the rate they should he despite decades of reforms and budget increases.

Recent years have witnessed a trend that parents tend to pay their children to encourage then to study harder. Different people may hold different opinions on it. But as far as I am concerned, what parents have done should be strongly against.
The most evident reason is that we pour a wrong value into the children. As children learn all from the outer world, they will take for granted that all they do should have a price. In addition, children won’t take their respo nsibilities seriously. Had children always been paid for their study in their childhood, they would know nothing about responsibilities that they should do without
any pay.
Therefore, a great many people are in favor of what I argue. A good case in point is my parents, who always taught me to study for myself and never gave me money as the award.
Judging from what have been discussed above, in my opinion, parents should encourage their children by telling the great people’s story or acting as a partner in t heir study who help them overcome difficulties in their study. Only in this way can the children grow up psychologically healthily. (193 words)
Yet opinions on the use of mouse vary from person to person.
Some claim that there are many advantages in using a car. It gives a much greater degree of convenience and pleasure. The user of the mouse is no longer forced to rely on the complex keyboard, and hence no irritation caused by how to operate the computer by the keys.
With a mouse we can edit text, browse web page, send and receive emails and download movies what we want and where we like, so much so that he we enjoy computers to the full by listening to music and doing online shopping easily.
However, others strongly object to using the mouse. They maintain that as more and more information can be got by the easy clicking of the mouse, the independent thinking of human beings will be given away, causing actual harm to the development of the society. In addition, the mouse contributes to hand ache so greatly that many mouse addicts have suffered a lot from it.
Whether mouse does good or harm is a difficult question to answer, yet the desire for the convenience and pleasure a mouse can bring won’t be eliminated. (198 words)
