4.①I guess…这一结构与I think…类似,表达“我想……”,用于陈述自己的观点、看法及建议。
guess用作及物动词,意为“猜测;估计”,后面可接名词、代词或从句。

②“I guess+宾语从句”句型在变为否定句时,要否定主句,而否定的意义留在从句,这种现象
叫“否定转移”。

5.①big deal是固定搭配,意为“重要的事”,作否定用法时,常用于It’s not a big deal或It’s no
big deal.表示说话人并不认为某事有什么了不起。
②big deal也经常用于肯定或疑问结构中。

③It’s a deal. 意为“就这么办;一言为定”,常用于口语中。

辨析offer与 provide
offer :主动提出;自愿给予;提供;常用于offer sb. sth. 或offer sth. to sb.结构
She offered me a job. = She offered a job to me.
provide:为做好准备而“提供;供应”;常用于provide sb. with sth. 或provide sth. for sb.结构
The school provided food for the students. =The school provided the students with food.
8.辨析leave与 forget
leave :遗留;落下,指把某物忘在某地,其后接地点状语。
She left her keys in the room.
forget :“忘记”,指由于记忆上的忽略而忘记了某人或某事物,后面可接名词、动词不定式或动词ing形式,不可接地点状语
I forgot her address.
9.be afraid of sb. /sth.:害怕某人或某物 The boy is afraid of his mother.
be afraid of doing sth.:害怕做某事,侧重主语担心、害怕某事发生 She is afraid of making
mistakes.
be afraid to do sth. :不敢或害怕做某事,侧重主语不敢做某事 She is afraid to dive.
be afraid + that从句:恐怕,多用于客气地提出个人意见或看法 I’m afraid that I can’t go today.
10.辨析: compare… with…与 compare… to…
compare… with…:“把……与……比较”,常用于两个同类事物之间的具体比较,侧重区别
We compared this picture with that one.
compare… to…:“把……比作……”,常用于两个不同性质的事物的抽象比较;compare…
to…还可以
译为“把……与……比较”,此时可与compare… with…互换
We often compare children to flowers.
11 although,so that及until的用法
(I)although意为“尽管;虽然”,引导让步状语从句,不能与but同时用在一个句子中,although的
同义词为though。
(II) so that意为“为了;以便”,引导目的状语从句和结果状语从句。
(III)) until意为“直到……为止”,引导时间状语从句; not… until意为“直到……才”。
until引导的从句,主句是延续性的动词,与短暂性动词连用时用not… until。
[注意] until引导的从句不用将来时。
