Hello. I’m Yam, as known as Chinese yam. I live in the sandy soil in places like Shandong. Farmers need to reap me before late Autumn because I am afraid of the frost.
I am generally a cylinder with a length of 15-30 centimeters and a diameter of 1.5-6 centimeters. I have a brown coat. It is creased and has plenty of root hair. But I’m not dirty. You can see my white clean skin when I take off my coat. However, I will grow dark within a very short time. To avoid this, you can soak me in water. Here’s an another reminder for you: be careful while holding me because my skin is sticky and slippery.
Maybe I’m not that beautiful but I am nutrient-rich. I’m good for your lung and stomach. You can stir-fry me with agaric or just put me in some soup. So, do you like me? I’m Yam. Yum! Yum!
