1"Come in," God said to me,"so,you would like to interview Me?""If you have the time," I said.He smiled through His beard and said:"My time is called eternity and is enough to do everything;what questions do you have in mind to ask me?""None that are new to you. What's the one thing that surprises you most about mankind?"He answered:"That they get bored of being children, are in a rush to grow up,and then long to be children again. That they lose their health to make money and then lose their money to restore their health. That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present, such that they live neither for the present nor the future. That they live as if they will never die,and they die as if they never had never lived..."His hands took mine and we were silent. After a long period,I said,"May I ask you another question?"He replied with a smile."As a Father, what would you ask your children to do for the new year?""To learn that they cannot make anyone love them. What they can do is to let themselves be loved. To learn that it takes years to build trust, and a few seconds to destroy it.To learn that what is most valuable is not what they have in their lives, but who they have in their lives. To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others. There will be others better or worse than they are.To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most, but is one who needs the least. To learn that they should control their attitudes, otherwise their attitudes will control them.To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in persons we love, and that it takes many years to heal them.To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness. To learn that there are persons that love them dearly, but simply do not know how to show their feelings. To learn that money can buy everything but happiness. To learn that while at times they may be entitled to be upset, that does not give them the right to upset those around them.To learn that great dreams do not require great wings, but a landing gear to achieve. To learn that true friends are scarce,he/she who has found one has found a true treasure. To learn that they are masters of what they keep to themselves and slaves of what they say.To learn that they shall reap what they plant;if they plant gossip they will harvest intrigues,if they plant love they willharvest happiness. To learn that true happiness is not to achieve their goals but to learn to be satisfied with what they already achieved. To learn that happiness is a decision. They decide to be happy with what they are and have,or die from envy and jealousy of what they lack.To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see something totally different. To learn that those who are honest with themselves without considering the consequences go far in life.To learn that even though they may think they have nothing to give, when a friend cries with them, they find the strength to appease the pain.To learn that by trying to hold on to love ones, they very quickly push them away;and by letting go of those they love, they will be side by side forever.经典美文英语初一篇2I’ve just come back from school, and I’m on my computer already! I could do anything to distract myself from your thoughts…I could read a book,do my hom ework or even have lunch.我刚刚放学回家,就已经坐在了电脑前面!任何事情都能把我从对你的思念中拉回来……我可以找本书看、做作业或是吃午饭。

Most do not fully see this truth. Instead they complain about their problem and difficulties as if life should be easy. It seems to them that difficulties represent a special kind of suffering especially forced upon them or else upon their families, their class, or even their nation.

What makes life difficult is that the process of facing and solving problems is a painful one. Problems, depending on their nature , cause in us sadness or loneliness or regret or anger or fear. Despite we are separated from each other for the time being, I can revisit the bittersweet memories at any time, that's enough .As far as I'm concerned, she used to be keen on reading, especially novels------she was crazy in reading so much that she almost forgot to have meals or stayed up all night. There seemed to be a private library her house, which belonged to her.Few years ago, Betty played various and important roles in my life , such as a teacher , an elder sister , a close friend and so on . She often kept an eye on my daily life , even looked over my shoulder so that I wouldn't do harm to others or myself . When I did something wrong , she got tempered and threatened me:"There will soon be something new in your life." referring to her temper . Her stubbornness leaves a profound impression on me . Once she made up her mind , she was as stubborn as a mule , few people were strong-minded enough to persuade her. After our graduation , we gradually lose tough with each other . 1A crazy age, a sad past. Together, it's a picture of youth, and we're going to arrange them one by one.We live under the warmth of the wings, happiness, and no contentment. Be light of heart from care。
An unruly little fart child. No one really grows up or matured. It's all some of my own subjective ideas. In the eyes of the grown-up, I'm just a child, a bunch of ridiculous children.Sometimes, I despise myself in this generation of people, including me, we are too self all immersed in their own third of an acre. The land on the ground is a huge melon and fruit! Only after the incision is hollow. And intoxicated, do not consider the outside world, in the intoxication of the fruit in addition to the seeds. There is also the inner restlessness. Sensitivity and absurdity. We are also praiseworthy, and we have our own ideals. Is not everyone like this? Maybe it's a lot of ideal! When those unrealistic ideals are replaced, we disagree. It is ridiculous that it is regarded as the appreciation of his own interest. The last thing was frustration. Low. Self mockery. And what makes me nauseous what "non mainstream", I really think it even I scolded. I have even sought it. Try to imitate. God, I know now what I regret. I think I scolded myself if I scolded the non mainstream. No harm! I don't care who call, that is once. Those are dark. Decadent。

The art of livingWhat is it like to be old in the United States? What will our own lives be like when we are old? Americans find it difficult to think about old age until they are propelled into the midst of it by their own aging and that of relatives and friends. Aging is the neglected stepchild of the human life cycle. Though we have begun to examine the socially taboo subjects of dying and death, we have leaped over that long period of time preceding death known as old age. In truth, it is easier to manage the problems of death than the problem of living as an old person. Death is a dramatic, one-time crisis while old age is a day-by-day and year-by-year confrontation with powerful external forces, a bittersweet coming to terms with one's own personality and one's life.Old age is neither inherently miserable nor inherently sublime-like every stage of life it has problems, joys, fears and potentials. The process of aging and eventual death must ultimately be accepted as the natural progression of the life cycle, the old completing their prescribed life spans and making way for the young. Much that is unique in old age in fact derives from the reality of aging and the imminence of death. The old must clarify and find use for what they have attained in a lifetime of learning and adapting they must conserve strength andresources where necessary and adjust creatively to those changes and losses that occur as part of the aging experience. The elderly have the potential for qualities of human reflection and observation which can only come from having lived an entire life span. There is a lifetime accumulation of personality and experience which is available to be used and enjoyed. But what are an individual's chances for a "good" old age in America, with satisfying final years and a dignified death? Unfortunately , none too good. For many elderly Americans old age is a tragedy, a period of quiet despair, deprivation , desolation and muted rage. This can be a consequence of the kind of life a person has led in younger years and the problems in his or her relationships with others. There are also inevitable personal and physical losses to be sustained, some of which can become overwhelming and unbearable. All of this is the individual factor, the existential element. But old age is frequently a tragedy even when the early years have been fulfilling and people seemingly have everything going for them. Herein lies what I consider to be the genuine tragedy of old age in America -- we have shaped a society which is extremely harsh to live in when one is old. The tragedy of old age is not the fact that each of us must grow old and die but that the process of doing so has been made unnecessarily and at times excruciatingly painful, humiliating, debilitating and isolating through insensitivity, ignorance and poverty. The potentials for satisfactions and even triumphs in late life are real and vastly under explored. For the most part the elderly struggle to exist in an inhospitable world. Living a solitary lifeThe other day an acquaintance of mine, a gregarious andcharming man, told me he had found himself unexpectedly alone in New York for an hour or two between appointments. He went to the Whitney and spent the "empty" time looking at things in solitary bliss. For him it proved to be a shock nearly as great as falling in love to discover that he could enjoy himself so much alone. What had he been afraid of, I asked myself? That, suddenly alone, he would discover that he bored himself, or that there was, quite simply, no self there to meet? But having taken the plunge, he is now on the brink of adventure; he is about to be launched into his own inner space to the astronaut. His every perception will come to him with a new freshness and, for a time, seem startlingly original. For anyone who can see things for himself with a naked eye becomes, for a moment or two, something of a genius. With another human being present vision becomes double vision, inevitably. We are busy wondering, what does my companion see or think of this, and what do I think of it? The original impact gets lost, or diffused."Music I heard with you was more than music." Exactly. And therefore music itself can only be heard alone. Solitude is the salt of personhood. It brings out the authentic flavor of every experience."Alone one is never lonely: the spirit adventures, walking in a quiet garden, in a cool house, abiding single there."Loneliness is most acutely felt with other people, for with others, even with a lover sometimes, we suffer from our differences of taste, temperament, mood. Human intercourse often demands that we soften the edge of perception, or withdraw at the very instant of personal truth for fear of hurting,or of being inappropriately present, which is to say naked, in a social situation. Alone we can afford to be wholly whatever we are, and to feel whatever we feel absolutely. That is a great luxury! For me the most interesting thing about a solitary life, and mine has been that for the last twenty years, is that it becomes increasingly rewarding. When I can wake up and watch the sun rise over the ocean, as I do most days, and know that I have an entire day ahead, uninterrupted, in which to write a few pages, take a walk with my dog, lie down in the afternoon for a long think (why does one think better in a horizontal position?), read and listen to music, I am flooded with happiness.I'm lonely only when I am overtired, when I have worked too long without a break, when from the time being I feel empty and need filling up. And I am lonely sometimes when I come back home after a lecture trip, when I have seen a lot of people and talked a lot, and am full to the brim with experience that needs to be sorted out. Then for a little while the house feels huge and empty, and I wonder where my self is hiding. It has to be recaptured slowly by watering the plants and perhaps,by looking again at each one as though it were a person. It takes a while, as I watch the surf blowing up in fountains at the end of the field, but the moment comes when the world falls away, and the self emerges again from the deep unconscious, bringing back all I have recently experienced to be explored and slowly understood, when I can converse again with my hidden powers, and so grow, and so be renewed, till death do us part. The tragedy of old ageWhat is it like to be old in the United States? Death is a dramatic, one-time crisis while old age is a day-by-day and year-by-year confrontation with powerful external forces, a bittersweet coming to terms with one's own personality and one's life.Old age is neither inherently miserable nor inherently sublime-like every stage of life it has problems, joys, fears and potentials. The process of aging and eventual death must ultimately be accepted as the natural progression of the life cycle, the old completing their prescribed life spans and making way for the young. Much that is unique in old age in fact derives from the reality of aging and the imminence of death. The old must clarify and find use for what they have attained in a lifetime of learning and adapting they must conserve strength and resources where necessary and adjust creatively to those changes and losses that occur as part of the aging experience. For many elderly Americans oldage is a tragedy, a period of quiet despair, deprivation , desolation and muted rage. For the most part the elderly struggle to exist in an inhospitable world.。

Next Tuesday dawned cold and rainy. Still, I had promised, and so I drove there. When I finally walked into Carolyn's house and hugged and greeted my grandchildren, I said, “Forget the daffodils, Carolyn! The road is invisible in the clouds and fog, and there is nothing in the world except you and these children that I want to see bad enough to drive another inch!”

Don't judge a life by one difficult season
There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn to not judge things too quickly. So he sent them each on a quest, in turn, to go and look at a pear tree that was a great distance away. The first son went in the winter, the second in the spring, the third in the summer, and the youngest son in the fall.
When they had all gone and come back, he called them together to describe what they had seen. The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent, and twisted.
The second son said no - it was covered with green
. The third son disagreed, he said it was laden with blossoms that smelled so sweet and looked so beautiful, and it was the most graceful thing he had ever seen.
The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe3) and drooping with fruit, full of life and fulfillment.
The man then explained to his sons that they were all right, because they had each seen but one season in the tree's life.
He told them that they cannot judge a tree, or a person, by only one season, and that the essence of who they are - and the pleasure, joy, and love that come from that life - can only be measured at the end, when all the seasons are up.
If you give up when it's winter, you will miss the promise of your spring, the beauty of your summer, fulfillment of your fall. Don't let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest.
