Features of speech 修辞手法
Features of speechsimileA simile (明喻) is a figure of speech that directly compares two different things, usually by employing the words "like" or "as".e.g.Curley was flopping like a fish on a line. She walks as gracefully as a cat.Her eyes twinkled like starsMy only memory of him is that he swayed on his heels like a palm tree. (paragraph 3) The room smelled like Chinese medicine, an imported faraway mustiness. Like ancient mothballs or dirty closets. (paragraph 4)metaphorA metaphor (暗喻) is a literary figure of speech that describes a subject by asserting that it is, on some point of comparison, the same as another otherwise unrelated object.e.g.All the world’s a stage,And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances; — William ShakespeareWhen he tripped over his own tongue, he'd blame it on her: "See, Mom, it's all your fault. You set a bad example". (paragraph 9)What infuriated my mother most was when my brother cornered her on her consonants. (paragraph 10)●Simile is a metaphor. But all metaphors are not similes.● A metaphor is an equation while simile is an approximation.● A simile compares two things to create a meaning, while a metaphor is a figureof speech that makes use of something to mean something else.Using appropriate metaphors appeals directly to the senses of listeners or readers, sharpening their imaginations to comprehend what is being communicated to them. Moreover, it gives a life-like quality to our conversations and to the characters of the fiction or poetry.MetonymyMetonymy is a figure of speech (or trope) in which one word or phrase is substituted for another with which it's closely associated (such as "crown" for "royalty").它是由某一事物名称来代替与该事物有关联的另一事物的名称,简而言之,就是借用甲来表示乙,但前提条件是甲必须与乙关系密切和本质上有相似之处。

Breaking the Silence: Transforming Mute English Writing。
In the realm of language, expression is paramount. Yet, many of us find ourselves imprisoned within the confines of what can be described as "mute English" a constrained, stilted form of expression that fails to capture the vibrancy and depth of our thoughts. However, there exists a path towards liberation, a journey of transforming our muted prose into eloquent symphonies of words. Let us embark upon this transformative voyage together. The first step in breaking the silence of mute Englishis to cultivate confidence in our own voices. Too often, we hesitate to express our thoughts for fear of ridicule orrejection. Yet, it is only by embracing our unique perspectives that we can truly contribute meaningfully to the conversation. Like a bird learning to spread its wings and take flight, we must trust in our ability to soar above the constraints of self-doubt.Furthermore, we must enrich our vocabulary and hone our linguistic skills. Just as a painter requires a diverse palette of colors to create a masterpiece, so too do we need a rich array of words to convey the nuances of our thoughts. By expanding our lexicon and refining our syntax, we can infuse our writing with depth and clarity, transforming it from a mere whisper into a resounding proclamation. Moreover, we must learn to infuse our writing with passion and emotion. Language is not merely a tool for communication; it is a vehicle for conveying the depths of human experience. Whether we are writing about love, loss, or triumph, we must imbue our words with the full spectrum of human emotion, allowing our readers to connect with our writing on a profound level. In addition, we must embrace the power of storytelling. Throughout history, stories have served as a means of transmitting culture, conveying wisdom, and fostering empathy. By weaving narratives into our writing, we can captivate our readers' imaginations and convey complex ideas in a compelling and accessible manner.Furthermore, we must learn to embrace feedback as a means of growth. Just as a sculptor refines their work through successive iterations, so too must we refine our writing through the process of revision. By seeking out constructive criticism and actively incorporating feedback into our writing, we can continuously improve our craft and strive towards ever greater heights of eloquence and expressiveness. In conclusion, the journey towards breaking the silence of mute English is one of self-discovery, growth, and transformation. By cultivating confidence in our voices, enriching our vocabulary, infusing our writing with passion and emotion, embracing the power of storytelling, andembracing feedback as a means of growth, we can transcend the constraints of muted prose and unleash the full potential of our linguistic prowess. So let us raise our voices, and together, let us write a new chapter in the story of English expression.---。

我们应该拯救正在消亡的语言吗英语作文
我们应该拯救正在消亡的语言吗英语作文全文共10篇示例,供读者参考篇1Should we save dying languages?Hi everyone! Today I want to talk about saving dying languages. What are dying languages, you ask? Well, they are languages that are in danger of disappearing because not many people speak them anymore. Isn't that sad?I think we should definitely try to save dying languages. Why? Because every language is like a special treasure chest full of stories, traditions, and knowledge. If we let a language disappear, we lose all of that. Imagine if no one spoke English anymore! We would lose all the amazing books, movies, and songs in English. But how can we save dying languages? One way is to learn and speak them ourselves. If more people know and use a language, it has a better chance of surviving. We can also teach others about the importance of preserving languages and support efforts to document and revitalize them.Saving dying languages is not just about words and grammar. It's about preserving our cultural diversity and respecting the unique identities of different communities. Solet's all do our part to keep languages alive and thriving. Who knows, maybe one day we could even speak a language that is endangered! In conclusion, I believe that we should definitely save dying languages. Let's celebrate the beauty of language and ensure that no language is ever forgotten. Thank you for listening!篇2Should We Save Endangered Languages?Hey everyone! Have you ever thought about saving endangered languages? It's super important because languages are like treasures that we need to take care of. Let me tell you why we should rescue them!First of all, every language is unique and has its own special way of expressing ideas and feelings. If we let a language disappear, we lose a part of the world's diversity and beauty. Can you imagine a world where we all speak the same language? It would be so boring! We should celebrate the differences and learn from each other's languages.Secondly, languages are connected to culture and history. When a language dies, we lose the stories, traditions, and knowledge that come with it. For example, some languages have words that can't be translated into English. Isn't that cool? We can learn so much from other languages and broaden our perspectives.Lastly, saving endangered languages can help preserve the identity of indigenous communities. When their languages are lost, they also lose a part of who they are. By supporting these languages, we show respect for their heritage and help them thrive. In conclusion, we should definitely save endangered languages! It's a way to protect our world's diversity, learn from different cultures, and honor the identities of indigenous communities. Let's all work together to keep our languages alive and vibrant. Thanks for listening!篇3Hey guys, do you think we should save dying languages? It's a pretty interesting topic, right? Well, let me tell you why I think we should!First of all, every language is unique and important. It's like a piece of art or a treasure that we should cherish. If we let a language disappear, we are also losing a part of our cultural heritage. Just imagine all the stories, poems, songs, and traditions that will be lost forever. It would be so sad, right?Secondly, speaking more than one language is really cool! It can open up so many opportunities for us. We can communicate with people from different countries and cultures, learn about their way of life, and make new friends. Plus, it can make us smarter and help our brains to grow stronger. But saving a language is not easy, guys. It takes a lot of effort and dedication. We need to study, practice, and use the language in our everyday lives. We can also teach it to others and share the beauty of it with the world. So, what do you think, guys? Should we save dying languages? I say yes! Let's work together to keep them alive and thriving. Let's show our love and respect for all the languages in the world. Let's be language heroes!篇4Should We Save Endangered Languages?Hey guys! Today, let's talk about something super important - saving endangered languages! Did you know that there are over 7,000 languages spoken in the world, but many of them are in danger of disappearing forever? It's true! So, why should we care about saving these languages? Well, first of all, languages are a big part of a culture. They hold the history, traditions, and stories of a group of people. If a language goes extinct, all of that important stuff goes away too. That's pretty sad, right?Plus, speaking multiple languages is super cool! It helps us understand different perspectives and connect with people from all over the world. So, if we let languages die out, we're losing out on so many awesome opportunities to learn and grow. But how can we save these endangered languages? Well, we can start by raising awareness about the issue and celebrating the diversity of languages. We can also support language revitalization programs and encourage people to pass down their native languages to the next generation. In conclusion, saving endangered languages is super important because they are a crucial part of our world's cultural diversity. So, let's work together to preserve and protect theselanguages before it's too late! Let's celebrate the uniqueness and beauty of every language. But do you think we should try to save them? Let's talk about it!First of all, why are some languages dying out? Well, it's because not many people speak them anymore. People start speaking other languages that are more popular or widely used. This means that the old languages are not being passed down to the next generation. That's so sad, isn't it?But why should we try to save these dying languages? It's because languages are a big part of a culture. They hold the history, stories, and traditions of a community. When a language disappears, all of that important knowledge goes away too. We should respect and honor all languages because they are unique and valuable. So, what can we do to help save endangered languages? Well, we can start by learning and using them. We can teach others about these languages and their importance. We can alsosupport programs and initiatives that are trying to preserve these languages. Well, let me tell you why it's super important!First of all, languages are like a window to a different culture. When a language disappears, a whole world of knowledge, beliefs, and traditions are lost. Imagine never being able to hear a beautiful poem or song in that language again. It would be such a shame!Secondly, languages are part of our identity. They shape the way we think, express ourselves, and connect with others. Whena language dies, a part of our cultural diversity is lost. We should cherish and protect the uniqueness of each language. Also, saving languages can help preserve ancient knowledge. Some languages have words or terms that are unique to them and can't be translated into other languages. By saving these languages, we also save valuable information that is important for future generations.Lastly, language revival can bring communities together. When people work together to save their language, it creates a sense of unity and pride. It's a way of honoring our ancestors and keeping their legacy alive. So, let's all do our part to save endangered languages! Whether it's through learning, teaching, or promoting awareness, every little effort counts. Together, we can ensure that these precious languages continue to thrive for years to come. Let's celebrate the beauty and diversity of languages around the world!篇7Should we save endangered languages?Hey guys, have you ever heard about endangered languages? It's like when a language is in danger of disappearing forever. Some people think we should try to save these languages, but others say it's not really necessary. So, let's talk about it!First of all, why are languages at risk of going extinct? Well, it's because not many people speak them anymore. When a language is no longer used by a lot of people, it becomes harder to keep it alive. And that's sad because every language is like a piece of our history and culture. But why should we care about saving endangered languages? Some people say we should focus on just speaking one main language, like English, because it's more practical. They say that learning a new language takes time and effort, so why bother with ones that aren't widely spoken anymore? But hey, think about it this way – if we let these languages disappear, we're losing a part of who we are. Languages are more than just words – they hold our stories, traditions, and ways of thinking. Plus, it's like saying that some people's way of life and identity doesn't matter. That's not cool, right? So, what can we do to help save endangered languages? We can start by learning about them and sharing them with others. Maybe we can even take classes or join programs that supportthese languages. And hey, don't forget to use them in everyday conversation too!In the end, it's up to us to decide if we want to save endangered languages or not. But remember, every language is a treasure that should be cherished and protected. So, let's join forces and make sure that these languages don't disappear forever. Together, we can make a difference!篇8Should we save dying languages?Hey guys, have you ever heard of dying languages? It's like when a language is in danger of disappearing forever. It's super sad, right? But some people think we should try to save these languages. So, should we?Well, I think we should! Why? Because every language is like a piece of history and culture. Imagine if we lost a language that had been around for centuries. We would lose all the stories, songs, and traditions that go with it. That would be terrible!Plus, learning a new language is so cool. It makes our brains super smart and helps us understand different people and places. So, if we save dying languages, we can learn even more and make the world a better place. But some people say we should just focus on learning big languages like English and Chinese. They think it's a waste of time to save little languages that hardly anyone speaks. But I don't agree! Every language is important, no matter how many people speak it. We should celebrate diversity and keep all languages alive. So, what do you guys think? Should we save dying languages? I say yes, yes, yes! Let's learn, speak, and love all the languages in the world. Let's save them before it's too late!篇9Should We Save Endangered Languages?Hey guys! Today let's talk about something super important - saving endangered languages! So, what do you think, should we save them or not? Well, I think we definitely should!First of all, every language is unique and precious. It's like a special treasure that belongs to a particular group of people. If a language disappears, all the knowledge and culture that comes with it could be lost forever. That's not cool, right? We should tryour best to preserve all the different languages in the world so that we can learn from them and keep them alive.Secondly, speaking more than one language is super cool! It helps us connect with different people and understand different cultures. Plus, it's good for our brains! Studies have shown that being bilingual or multilingual can improve our memory, problem-solving skills, and even make us smarter! So, by saving endangered languages, we're actually helping ourselves too.But hey, I get it, saving languages can be hard work. It takes time, effort, and resources. But guess what? We can all play a part! We can learn and speak different languages, tell our friends about the importance of preserving languages, and support organizations that work to save endangered languages. So, let's all work together to save our precious languages! Remember, every language counts and every effort matters. Let's keep the linguistic diversity alive and thriving for generations to come. Let's do this, guys! #SaveOurLanguagesLove,[Your Name]篇10Should we save dying languages?Hey guys, have you ever thought about saving dying languages? It's kind of like saving endangered animals, but instead of animals, it's languages that are at risk of disappearing forever. Some people say we should try to save dying languages because they are part of our cultural heritage and have a lot of history behind them. But some people think we should just let them go and focus on speaking languages that are more widely used.I think we should try to save dying languages because it's important to preserve our cultural diversity. Just like how there are different types of animals and plants in the world, there are also different languages spoken by people all over the globe. Each language is unique and special in its own way, and it would be a shame if we lost that diversity. Plus, by saving dying languages, we can learn more about different cultures and traditions.Another reason to save dying languages is to prevent the loss of valuable knowledge and history. Many dying languages are spoken by indigenous communities who have lived in harmony with nature for centuries. These communities have a lot of wisdom and knowledge about the environment, the plantsand animals around them, and how to live sustainably. If we let their languages disappear, we could lose all that valuable information. But how can we save dying languages? One way is to encourage people to learn and speak them. We can start language programs in schools, create online resources, and organize cultural events to promote these languages. We can also support indigenous communities in preserving and passing down their languages to future generations. So, what do you think? Should we save dying languages or let them fade away? Let's all work together to protect and preserve the world's linguistic diversity!。

In thinking about what was possible from Geneva, where we are based, we decided on a trip to Istanbul a two-hour plane ride from Zurich. We envisioned the trip as a prelude to more exotic ones, perhaps to New Delhi or Bangkok later this year, but thought our 11- and 13-year-old needed a first step away from manicured boulevards and pristine monuments. What we didn’t foresee was the reaction of friends, who warned that we were putting our children “in danger",referring vaguely, and most incorrectly, to disease, terrorism or just the unknown. To help us get acquainted with the peculiarities of Istanbul and to give our children a chance to choose what they were particularly interested in seeing, we bought anexcellent guidebook and read it thoroughly before leaving. Friendly warnings didn’t change our planning:although we might have more prudently checked with the U.S. Department’s list of troublespots. We didn’t see a lot of children among the foreign visitors during our six-day stay in Istanbul, but we found the tourist areas quite safe, veryinteresting and varied enough even to suit our son, whose oft-repeated request is that we not see “every single” church and museum in a given city.Vaccinations werent needed for the city, but we were concerned about adapting to the water for a short stay. So we used bottled water for drinking and brushing our teeth, a precaution that may seem excessive, but we all stayed healthy.Taking the advice of a friend, we booked a hotel a 20-minute walk from most of Istanbul’s major tourist sites. This not only got us some morning exercise, strolling over the Karakoy Bridge, but took us past a colorful assortment of fishermen, vendors and shoe shiners. From a teenager and preteens view. Istanbul street life is fascinating since almost everything can be bought outdoors. They were at a good age to spend time wandering the labyrinth of the Spice Bazaar, where shops display mounds of pungent herbs in sacks. Doing this with younger children would be harder simply because the streets are so packed with people; it would be easy to get lost. For →our two←, whose buying experience consisted of department stores and shopping mall boutiques, it was amazing to discover that you could bargain over price and perhaps end up with two of something for the price of one. They also learned to figure out the relative value of the Turkish lira, not a small matter with its many zeros.Being exposed to Islam was an important part of our trip. Visiting the mosques, especially the enormous Blue Mosque, was our first glimpse into how this major religion is practiced. Our children’s curiosity already had been piqued by the five daily calls to prayer over loudspeakers in every comer of the city, and the scarves covering the heads of many women. Navigating meals can be troublesome with children, but a kebab, bought on the street or in restaurants, was unfailingly popular. Since we had decided this trip was not for gourmets, kebabs spared us th e agony of trying to find a restaurant each day that would suit the adults’ desire to try something new amid children’s insistence that the food be served immediately. Gradually, we branched out to try some other Turkish specialties. Although our son had studied Islam briefly, it is impossible to be prepared for every awkward question that might come up, such as during our visits to the Topkapi Sarayi, the Ottoman Sultans9 palace, no guides were available so it was do-it-yourself, using our guidebook, which cheated us of a lot of interesting history and anecdotes that a professional guide could provide. Next time, we resolved to make such arrangements in advance. On this trip, we wandered through the magnificent complex, with its imperial treasures, its courtyards and its harem. The last required a bit of explanation that we would have happily left to a learned third party.Whom does“our two”in PARAGRAPH 5 refer to? ______ .A. the coupleB. the kidsC. the gourmetsD. local-style markets8.(单项选择题)(每题 2.00 分) Which of the following statements is NOT a way of presenting new vocabulary?____.A. definingB. using real objectsC. writing a passage by using new wordsD. giving explanations9.(单项选择题)(每题 2.00 分) Exceptional children are different in some significant ways from others of the same age, for the same age, for these children to develop to their full adult potential; their education must be adapted to those differences.Although we focus on the needs of exceptional children, we find ourselves describing their environment as well. While the leading actor on the stage captures our attention, we are aware of the importance of the supporting players and the scenery of the play itself. Both the family and the society in which exceptional children live are often the key to their growth and development. And it is in the public schools that we find the full expression of society5s understanding the knowledge, hopes, and fears that are passed on to the next generation.Education in any society is a mirror of that society. In that mirror we can see the strengths, the weaknesses, the hopes, the prejudices, and the central values of the culture itself. The great interest in exceptional children shown in public education over the past three decades indicates the strong feeling in our society that all citizens, whatever their special conditions, deserve the opportunity to fully develop their capabilities.“All men are created equal.” We’ve heard it many times, but it still has important meaning for education in a democratic society. Although the phrase was used by this countrys founders to denote equality before the law, it has also been interpreted to mean equality of opportunity. That concept implies educational opportunity for all children—the right of each child to receive help in learning to the limits of his or her capacity, whether that capacity be small or great. Recent court decisions have confirmed the right of all children—disabled or not —to an appropriate education, and have ordered that public schools take the necessary steps to provide that education. 关于改变英语发音的英语作文
关于改变英语发音的英语作文The Evolution of English Pronunciation: Embracing Change for Clearer CommunicationThe English language is a dynamic and ever-evolving means of communication, constantly adapting to the needs and preferences of its speakers. One aspect of this ongoing transformation is the gradual shift in the pronunciation of words, a phenomenon that has fascinated linguists and language enthusiasts alike. As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, the importance of clear and effective communication has become paramount, leading to a growing call for a more standardized and accessible English pronunciation. At the heart of this discussion lies the recognition that the traditional ways of pronouncing English words may no longer be the most practical or inclusive. The English language has a rich history, with roots tracing back to the Germanic tribes that settled in Britain centuries ago. Over time, the language has absorbed influences from various cultures, resulting in a diverse and complex system ofpronunciation. While this diversity has contributed to the language's richness, it has also led to inconsistencies and challenges for both native and non-native speakers. One of the primary drivers of the call for change in English pronunciation is the increasing globalization of communication. As people from diverse linguistic backgrounds interact more frequently, the need for a shared understanding of pronunciation becomes increasingly important. The traditional British or American English accents, while deeply rooted in their respective cultures, may not always be the most accessible or intuitive for those learning the language. This has led to a growing movement towards a more neutral, or "General American," pronunciation that aims to bridge the gap between different regional and cultural variations.Proponents of this approach argue that a more standardized pronunciation can facilitate better understanding and reduce the barriers to effective communication. By adopting a more universally accessible way of pronouncing words, non-native speakers can more easily navigate the complexities of the English language, while native speakers can better accommodate the needs of their global counterparts. This shift towards a more inclusive pronunciation model has the potential to enhance cross-cultural exchange, foster greater understanding, and promote more effective collaboration in a wide range of professional and personal contexts. Moreover, the evolution of English pronunciation is not merely a practical consideration but also a reflection of the language's dynamic nature. Language, like any living system, is constantly in flux, adapting to the changing needs and preferences of its users. The way we pronounce words today may not be the same as how they were pronounced a century ago, and this process of change is a natural and inevitable part of the language's development.Embracing this change, rather than resisting it, can lead to a more vibrant and responsive language that better serves the needs of its speakers. By acknowledging and even encouraging the gradual shifts in English pronunciation, we can create a more inclusive and accessible means of communication, one that celebrates the diversity of the language while still maintaining a level of consistency and clarity.Of course, the process of changing English pronunciation is not without its challenges. Deeply ingrained habits and cultural associations with certain accents can make it difficult for some individuals to adapt to a more standardized approach. Additionally, there may be concerns about the potential loss of regional and cultural identities that are closely tied to traditional pronunciation patterns. To address these concerns, proponents of change must approach the issue with sensitivity and an understanding of the complex social and cultural factors at play. Rather than imposing a one-size-fits-all solution, the goal should be to foster a collaborative and inclusive process that respects the diverse perspectives of English speakers around the world. This may involve the development of flexible pronunciation guidelines that allow for regional variations while still promoting a greater degree of mutual intelligibility.Furthermore, the adoption of a more standardized pronunciation should not be seen as a rejection of the language's rich history and cultural heritage. Instead, it should be viewed as an opportunity to build upon the foundations of the past while adapting to the needs of the present and future. By embracing change and finding ways to balance tradition with innovation, we can create a more vibrant and inclusive English language that serves the needs of all its users. In conclusion, the ongoing evolution of English pronunciation is a complex and multifaceted issue that deserves thoughtful consideration. As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, the need for clear and effective communication has become paramount, driving a growing call for a more standardized and accessible approach to English pronunciation. By embracing change and finding ways to balance tradition with innovation, we can create a more inclusive and responsive language that celebrates thediversity of its speakers while promoting greater mutual understanding and collaboration. Through this process, the English language can continue to evolve and thrive, adapting to the needs of a rapidly changing global landscape.。

Human language is not restricted by the 'here' and 'now' as animal communication is; we can virtually talk about anything we want, including what happened in the past, what is going to happen in the future, what is not existent in the immediate surroundings and even what we imagine.33、A pair of sound combinations which are identical in every way except one sound, e.g. /pit/ and/bit/.34、Affixes added to an existing form to create a new word ,e.g. in-,-er 35、Syntax is a subfield of linguistics that studies the sentence structure of language, and it consists of a set of rules that allow words to be combined with other words to form grammatical sentences.36、Language transfer is a phenomenon that L2 learners subconsciously use their L1 knowledgein their learning process.37、Hyponymy refers to the sense relation between a more specific word and a more general, more inclusive word. The former is included in the latter. For example, a cat is a hyponym of animal.38、Sentence meaning refers to the intrinsic property of the sentence itself in terms of a predication. It is abstract and decontextualized. For example, semantic analysis of the sentence meaning of "The bag is heavy" results in the one-place predication BAG (BEING HEAVY).39、A lingua franca is a variety of language that serves as a medium of communication among groups of people of diverse linguistic backgrounds. For this reason, a lingua franca must be an agree-upon "common tongue" used by people thrown into social contact for various purposes, such as for social or commercial purposes.40、Cerebral cortex is the outside surface of the brain, the decision-making organ of the body, receiving messages from all sensory organs and initiating all voluntary actions. Many of the cognitive abilities that distinguish humans from other mammals, such as sophisticated reasoning, linguistic skills, and musical ability, are believed to reside in the cortex.五、论述题(本大题共2小题,每小题10分,共20分)41、Sociological triggers for language change refer to such radical socio-political changes as wars, invasions, occupation, colonialization, and language planning and standardization policies. A typical example in the history of English is the Norman Conquest, a military event that marked the dawning of the Middle English period. This means that Middle English began with the arrival of the Norman French invaders in English under William the Conqueror in 1066. And for about a century and a half after the Norman Conquest, French remained as the language of the ruling class, as far as literature and administration were concerned. So Middle English was deeply influenced by Norman French in vocabulary and grammar. For example, such terms as "army," "court," "defense," "faith," "prison" and "tax" came from the language of the French rulers.评分标准:满分10分,其中定义占3分,典型例子占5分,例词占2分。

My name is shen yanhui, you coul d also call me Adely. I’m from BPS d epartment of Unipoint. I have worked in our company for nearly three years. Today, I want to talk about billiard (tabl e tennis) with you. So my topic is “Billiard and me”.
I remember the first time I played billiard was in my mid dl e school. Since I joined in Unipoint I started l oving it. In a period of time I spent too much time on it, Every day I am certain to play billiard in billiard-room for two or four hours after get off work and watch billiard game when I back home. For that it’s often explod e war between me and my girlfriend. Unfortunately the billiard-room be removed for adding the inventory space.
Now, As we know billiard is very familiar to us, but most peopl e still d on’t kno w its history. About billiard’s beginning there have some different viewpoints. Some peopl e say it come from Greece, some peopl e say its home is in England, in ad dition someone say it originated from China. Because it has six hundred years history so we coul dn’t find the truth. But one poin t without questioning is that billiard originated Europe.
The billiard d evel oped in England in 14th century, at first just royal househol d stuff and nobl e play the billiard and the ball was mad e by ebur or yellow metal. The tabl e was mad e by wood and be changed to stone for avoiding variant. Because the cost of billiard is very high so it coul dn’t be spread widely until to the ebur be replace by one cheap material—china clay. At that time the tabl e just has one hol e in the tabl e center and now there are six hol es layout along the tabl e sid e. Billiard be brought to Asia in 18th century, first India then Japan and china. Billiard because popular in worl d was in 21st century and many invents about billiard came out, for exampl e rest, chalk, tip, powd er, tri-angl e. We often use those invents when we play billiard in club. Today many billiard games be held every year, such as world championship, shanghai masters cup, welsh open and so on. What’s more, there have a few types of games mainly including eight - ball, nine - ball, snooker and carom. Snooker is the most popular type and all international game ad opts this type. Although it has different competition rul es between different games but it has the same technique. If you want to make yourself play billiard better you must master three techniques --top spin, back spin and stop shot.
In the billiard history have many excell ent players. Such as Hendry be named billiard emperor for his perfect techniques, O’sullivan be named rocket for his speed of shot
, John Higgins- the sorcerer for his super control ability of cue ball. But I like Trump most because he always has surprising id ea and was the most tal ented one. Maybe most Chinese peopl e start to interest billiard because Ding junhui. To be honest I am not his fans.
In my view playing billiard has many benefits, it coul d training your thinking and mad e your mood became more clam and enhance your patience. If you don’t belive what I say you could try it. I promis e you will l ove it too.
My speech is over. Thank your attention。
