Oracle Database 12c

Oracle Maintenance Cloud
Oracle Maintenance CloudOracle Maintenance Cloud enables effective and efficient maintenance operations. With shrinking margins and declining capital spending, companies need to operate their assets with greater efficiency, uptime and effectiveness, while utilizing existing resources. An integrated asset management system is essential to achieve this. Built on a modern cloud platform, Oracle Maintenance Cloud leverage advances in the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning (ML) to make smarter decisions and drive efficient maintenance operations in the cloud. Oracle Maintenance Cloud provides maintenance and integrated supply chain materialsman agement and costing, embedded analytics and ‘2-click’ ease of use, optimizing your maintenance processes and maximizing user productivity. Cloud, desktop, tablet, mobile, scanning and social technologies are combined to provide a modern maintenance solution that enables you to efficiently plan and execute work, and achieve end-to-end visibility into your maintenance operations, all in the cloud.Maintenance Solution in the CloudOracle Maintenance Cloud delivers a modern, integrated maintenance solution without the expensive hardware and system management overhead costs.Visually Design Maintenance ProcessesOracle Maintenance Cloud provides intuitive, visualization, and web-based interface tools to build a foundation of maintenance organization data and design your maintenance processes. Quickly define the necessary master data for your organization hierarchy & process standards, including:∙Working calendars, work areas, work centers, resources.∙Predefined library of standard maintenance operations (including resources and usages).Visually define your maintenance processes using Work Definition. Define the maintenance operation steps, and then drag and drop resources and materials to the process to easily complete the flow. Leverage Oracle Social Network to Key Business Benefits:Increase equipment reliability and reduce downtimeReduce maintenance costsEfficiently plan & execute workRapidly implement using quick set upAttain end-to-end visibility into maintenance operationscollaborate with colleagues and stay connected regarding updates to work definitions.Figure 1. Work Definition - Visually design a work definitionDefine and Manage AssetsAsset Definition is fundamental to your entire maintenance solution, enabling you to create assets so they can then be properly maintained and repaired. Quickly and easily create a maintainable asset in Oracle Maintenance Cloud via four distinct flows:∙ Create an asset via the Manage Assets page. ∙ Procure an asset via Oracle Procurement Cloud. ∙ Build an asset using Oracle Manufacturing Cloud. ∙ Import asset via spreadsheet.Once an asset is created, you can collaborate with colleagues and stay connected regarding updates to an asset using Oracle Social Network. You can also define an Asset Hierarchy to help visualize where assets are located and the upstream and downstream implications of an asset failure.Figure 2. Asset Hierarchy – visually depict physical asset hierarchyEfficiently Manage Maintenance Operations While On The Go The Maintenance Management landing page provides a quick look at critical information about your maintenance operations. You can view key metrics, and drill into the details to take action and resolve any issues. Metrics about your problematic assets, as well as the overall maturity of your maintenance program are also provided. Work orders are socially enabled so you can collaborate on problems using Oracle Social Network, and Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence gives you quick and easy reporting capabilities. All designed for use on a tablet and/or smartphone, so you can take action on the go. Maintenance Management landing pageThe Maintenance Dispatch List provides an overall view of scheduled work, and changes to operations that may impact your priorities. This simple, intuitive, easy to use dispatch list, requires only ‘two-clicks’ to complete work orders, enter material and labor required to complete a work order, and enter work order completion information again optimized for the tablet.Figure 4. Review Dispatch List - execute and complete work ordersSupport for Preventive and Predictive Maintenance MethodologiesMaintenance Cloud supports both Calendar Based and Meter Based Maintenance Programs that calculate the preventive maintenance forecast and create work orders. You can define dynamic work requirements that consider calendar patterns, asset meters, and optionally IoT-based conditional events as inputs in the forecasts. Multiple work definitions can be defined for a work requirement to support both cyclical and noncyclical interval maintenance. Maintenance programs are a foundational requirement for preventative maintenance of an asset. Over time, they require periodic auditing to make sure that they are aligned with the latest supplier-defined recommendations, meet maintenance availability goals, and are optimized to reduce labor and material costs. These recomme ndations can come from Oracle’s maintenance machine learning platform or from other artificial or human intelligence sources.Figure 5. Maintenance Program Forecast – Gantt Chart – effectively plan workSeamlessly Integrate With Your Outside Processing Supplier Automate the process of managing both your internal maintenance operations and supplier operations for a work order. Streamline and effectively manage your extended supply chain to reduce cost, ensure timely work completion, and improve visibility.∙Manage, review and monitor supplier operations.∙Create work orders with the supplier operation services included.∙Receive and complete the supplier operations for serial-tracked assemblies from the supplier.∙Review and print the work order traveler to provide details of the supplier operations.∙Create and manage purchasing documents for the serviceReview And Analyze Maintenance CostsOracle has a robust cost management solution, supporting the costing and analysis of your maintenance processes. Flexible work order costing supports all costing methods – standard, actual, LIFO, FIFO – or even multiple simultaneous costs - one for your official external reporting, and one for your internal management reporting. You can define cost by asset, work order or type of work performed, providing you with the insight you need to control material and resource costs.Monitor maintenance work order costs throughout the entire lifecycle of the work order, from initial charges through work order close. This insight is essential for determining the “repair vs replace” s trategy for maintaining assets.Figure 6. Review and Analyze Work Order Costs –highlights ‘bad actors’Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence For Maintenance CloudOracle Transactional Business Intelligence provides flexible, ad hoc reporting capabilities directly from the transactional system, enabling you to easily query and generate reports, such as exceptions reports and current state performance reports.Figure 7. Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence - real time, self-service reportingUsers can view and analyze four key maintenance areas - work order execution, material usage, resource usage and asset - enabling you to run the reports you want, when you want them.Standards-based ArchitectureOracle Maintenance Cloud is built on a best-in-class, internet-based architecture that provides maximum flexibility and lowest total cost of ownership.∙Internet Application: All Oracle Maintenance Cloud functionality is accessible via standard web browsers, enabling organizations to deploy globally withminimal effort.∙Secure Collaboration: Oracle Maintenance Cloud’s security model enables companies to collaborate with contract maintenance providers– by enablingthese parties to access relevant information and business functions inOracle Maintenance Cloud.∙Service Oriented Architecture: Oracle Maintenance Cloud fully supports a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) for maximum business processflexibility.
O R A C L E K E Y V A U L T H Y B R I D C L O U D K E Y M A N A G E M E N T F A QFrequently Asked QuestionsOracle Key Vault Hybrid Cloud Key ManagementOracle Key Vault (OKV) enables customers to easily deploy encryption and other security solutions by offering robust, central management of encryption keys, Oracle Wallets, Java Keystores, and credential files. OKV now supports key management for both on-premises as well as cloud endpoints. This document answers frequently asked questions about OKV hybrid cloud key management.Hybrid Cloud Key ManagementQ:What is hybrid cloud key management?A:Hybrid Cloud Key Management is a deployment topology for cloud encryption solutions where data is encrypted in the cloud while the encryption key is managed from on-premise Oracle Key Vault.On-premises Oracle Key Vault now manages OracleAdvanced Security TDE master encryption keys for Oracle Database Cloud Service (DBCS) in addition to managing TDE master encryption keys for on-premises Oracledatabases. Hybrid cloud key management enablescustomers maintain control and visibility of masterencryption keys used in Oracle Cloud as well as for on-premises Oracle databases.Q:What are the benefits of hybrid cloud key management?A:Utilizing an on-premise centralized key management infrastructure for both on-premise and cloud databaseendpoints offers many advantages which includemaintaining control and visibility of keys irrespective of the location of the endpoints, consistent key managementpolicies, shared resources between on-premise and cloud, and lower TCO. Q:Does hybrid key management apply only to master keys or also to wallets and other credential files that are stored in Oracle Key Vault?A:Hybrid Cloud Key Management only supports online TDE master key management for DBCS instances. This does not apply to managing wallets or credential files forresources in Oracle Cloud.Q:When should I suspend TDE master keys for DBCS instances?A:Suspending access to TDE master key should be done only in very serious conditions such as when you think that there is an unauthorized intrusion at the OS level.Suspending access to keys allows you time to investigate the intrusion and collect evidence, while at the same time removing all access to your sensitive data. SuspendingTDE master keys means that the Oracle database can no longer access any encrypted data in the database, and in such cases any access to that data would get an ORA-28353: “failed to open wallet” error.Q:How do I suspend TDE master keys for DBCS instances?A:To suspend access, Key Vault system administrator can click “suspend” button corresponding to the DBCSinstance from Oracle Key Vault management console.Clicking the “suspend” button for an endpoint temporarily removes access to the encryption key, such that theencrypted data is not accessible both to the applicationand the administrators in cloud. If you are satisfied withyour investigation, clicking “resume” button resumes theaccess to the keys. Temporary removal of access to theencryption keys by clicking “suspend” button on anendpoint is also applicable to on-premise Oracle Database endpoint.Q:Can on-premises OKV manage TDE master keys for Oracle Databases in non-Oracle cloud environments?A:OKV can manage TDE master keys for Oracle Databases in any cloud as long as network connectivity existsbetween OKV server and Oracle Databases (11gR2 andabove).Hybrid Cloud Key Management DeploymentQ:At a high level, how do I setup hybrid cloud deployment using DBCS with on-premise OKV?A:If OKV is already installed on-premise, upgrade to OKV12.2 BP1 (or higher), else install and configure OKV12.2.0.1 (or higher) on-premise. Through the OKVadministration UI, setup a SSH tunnel between DBCSinstances (using TDE) and the primary OKV server. Follow usual procedures to enroll and provision the DBCSdatabase instance as OKV endpoint as per the Oracle Key Vault documentation.Q:Which version of OKV supports Hybrid Clouddeployments?A:Hybrid Cloud Key Management is supported from OKV12.2.0.1.0 (12.2 BP1) onwards.Q:Which Oracle Database Cloud Services are supported by OKV hybrid cloud key management?A:OKV hybrid cloud key management supports Oracle Database as a Service (DBaaS).Q:What happens if on-premise primary OKV server fails over to the standby OKV server?A:When primary OKV server fails over to the standby server, the standby server will automatically establish SSH tunnels to all active database cloud service endpoints.Q:What are the availability considerations? Would my database hang if OKV is not available, or is slow due tointernet access issues?A:Oracle Database endpoints caches keys in memory for a configured time interval. By default, the time interval is 5minutes so that the database can handle brief networkoutages. Customers can change this cache value to meet their business and security needs.Q:Can I integrate my OKV with on-premise HSM?A:On-premise Key Vault can be integrated with an on-premise HSM as a “root-of-trust” for the key hierarchy that protects encrypted data stored in Key Vault. This root-of-trust is generated within the HSM and never leaves theHSM. Integration with an on-premise HSM is supportedonly on a new installation of Key Vault 12.2.0.1 and later. For further details refer to the Key Vault HSM Integrationguide.Network and SSH Tunnel DeploymentQ:Do I need to poke a hole in my network firewall?A:Typically, no changes are required to your network firewall. However, if your firewall does not already allow outbound SSH connections, the outbound SSH port (22) needs to be unblocked. Refer to the Oracle Key Vault documentationfor further details regarding setting up SSH betweenOracle Key Vault and DBCS instances.Q:How does hybrid model handle temporary network glitches?A:Cloud database PKCS#11 library caches the TDE master key for a short duration to prevent disruption of access to encrypted data for brief network glitches. For any network outage that disrupts the SSH tunnel, OKV willautomatically reestablish the SSH tunnel.Q:How is the traffic encrypted between DBCS database instance and on-premise OKV server?A:Communication between on-premise OKV and DBCS instances use encrypted SSH tunnels. In addition, all OKV endpoints communicate with the Oracle Key Vault server using OASIS KMIP (Key Management InteroperabilityProtocol) over a mutually authenticated secure TLStransport.Q:How do I setup SSH tunnel between on-premises OKV and DBCS instances?A:SSH tunnel setup for OKV hybrid cloud key management uses standard key-based authentication.First, copy the public key from primary OKV servermanagement console to the DBCS instance via the DBCS admin UI interface for SSH key setup. Then, as systemadministrator for OKV, log on to the management console and create the SSH tunnel by providing the public IPaddress for DBCS instance and port number. Refer to the Oracle Key Vault documentation for further details.Q:Do I need to setup SSH tunnel for each Oracle database instance in Oracle Cloud?A:OKV supports two scenarios. You can setup individual SSH tunnel between each Oracle DBCS instance andprimary OKV server. Alternatively, you can designate aDBCS instance (or any other host on the cloud) as an OKVgateway through which all the SSH traffic is routed to the DBCS instances. The choice of whether to use OKV gateway is based on the number of expected cloud endpoints, dependence on a gateway, and the required network isolation between cloud endpoints. In either case, the KMIP communication is protected end-to-end by TLS 1.2 which means that the communication is not visible to any intermediary and cannot be tampered by any intermediary.Q: Do I need a SSH tunnel if I have network connectivity fromOKV to the endpoints in the cloud? A: No. SSH tunnel is only required if a direct connection fromOKV to the cloud endpoint is unavailable.Product Licensing and SupportQ: Is Hybrid Cloud Key Management for Key Vault aseparately licensed feature? A: No, Oracle Key Vault hybrid cloud key management doesnot require a separate license. Licensing Oracle Key Vault allows users to manage keys for on-premise and DBCS endpoints. Q: Who do I contact if I have issues with OKV hybrid cloudkey management? A: Please contact My Oracle Support athttps://Learn More!Q: Where can I get more information about deploying OKVhybrid cloud key management? A: Refer to the Oracle Key Vault 12.2 administration guide atKey Vault online documentation site. Also refer to OracleKey Vault OTN page for further details.Q: Where can I find more information about Oracle Key Vaultin general? A: Product collateral including Datasheet, FAQ, and productdocumentation links can be found at OTN page for OKV .Oracle Corporation, World Headquarters Worldwide Inquiries 500 Oracle ParkwayPhone: +1.650.506.7000 Redwood Shores, CA 94065, USAFax: +1.650.506.7200Copyright © 2018, Oracle and/or its affiliates.
Oracle Eloqua
