一般在句中作表语,不作定语。
如:The old man lived alone in the village. 那个老人独自一人住在村子里。
◆lonely指精神上感到寂寞,或指地方比较偏僻,人迹罕至,具有一定的感情色彩,在句中既可作定语,又可作表语。
如:The poor man has no children, but he never feels lonely. 那个可怜的人没有孩子,但他从不感到寂寞。
