Democracy and equality is the basic character on the socialism relationship between teachers and students. Loving students should be a teacher's basic attitude in dealing with it. A strict teacher doesn't mean that his students must be top students. Some students say that they are afraid of teachers because teachers are serious. I have never experienced this kind of fear. Maybe I can say that I am a lucky dog, because during my student life these years, I have met so many good teachers who have taught me a lot. They are approachable and we get along well with each other. Sometimes I think we treat each other as friends. Yes, we are friends.From the survey which the author did and the results he showed us in this book, I think I have got some ideas about the question “What Ma kes a Good Teacher”. I think a good teacher requires many more qualities than the ordinary people as follow.The most important thing is that the teacher should have acquired strong professional knowledge. The knowledge to a teacher is like waterto a dessert. If a teacher has no consolidated professional competence, he would feel awkward and hard to teach students. Just as what I have mentioned, when I was a teacher in a small training center, sometimes I had to stop myself in class to think some language points which I still didn’t know. A good teacher will never have this kind of mistake. If so, students will be doubt to you. Meanwhile, not only should a teacher have the professional knowledge, but also he ought to have a good knowledge of other subjects. As time goes by, the world has been changing very fast, the same goes with the students. They are becoming more curious about the outside world. Therefore, the students will ask some strange questions in class beyond the subject. If a teacher doesn’t char ge himself with other subjects from time to time, his theory may be out of date, and he may not keep the pace with development of our society. If the teacher couldn’t answer students’questions about other subjects, the students will show low respect to the teacher and lose interest in his subject.In the second place, the teacher，as far as I am concerned, a teacher needs to have the skills of how to teach. That’s to say, a teacher can give off heat to the cold winter. The students are like winter and they are in great needs of heat to make them warm. If one teacher knows how to give off his heat to warm the chilly students, I think, he is a good teacher. In order to teach well, a teacher should get to know more about teaching theory to guide him to teach. More than that, he should put the theory intopractice. In other words, he should make himself acquire more teaching experience. Only in practice does a teacher learn more teaching skills, so that he knows how to arouse students’interest in class, how to plan a lesson, how to manage class, how to make friends with students, how to make the learners love him so on and so forth. In addition, a successful teacher should have the awareness that he should continuously update his teaching approach so as to keep the pace of the development of society.Thirdly, a good teacher should have personal styles. A good teacher makes learning not a dull thing but a great joy. Many teachers make their teaching boring because they just keep talking about the text book all the time as other teachers usually did in the past, just like a loud speaker, then the students would feel difficult to focus their attentions on what the teacher are saying and students will become easy to fall asleep. Then we find it’s important to form a distinct personal style during our teaching. Different teacher should have different styles, and a good teacher should find his own personal style which is different from the others. For example, we can make our teaching dynamic by body languages, or demonstrating performance; we can make our teaching vivid by role plays; we can make our teaching interesting by explaining it in a humorous way. It’s important to find our personal styles when we are teaching.The last but not the least, a good teacher should have a goodrelationship with his or her students. They must be approachable. Just as the author said that successful teachers are those people who can identify with the hopes, aspirations and difficulties of their students while they are teaching them. To be specific, a good teacher should be fair to their children, and treats every student equally, and “partiality” is forbidden; he should be patient, and never give up any student, even though some of the them are really mischievous and indocile; he should take good care of his students like a parent; he should be approachable and become a friend of his students, so that students can talk to him when they have problems in life or in study; he should be kind, and be ready to help his students; he should be enthusiastic to his students, and has a full passion for his teaching; he should be caring for the students, sometimes, only a caring look , a trusting encouragement, or a mild smile from the teacher is enough to touch the students’hearts. We should recognize the great value of the teachers who have ethic devotion during the students’development.Although I know the basic requirements to a good teacher, I still have a long way to go. Our society is changing all the time. It is becoming more and more modernized. And students today have become more and more independent and self-centered, so it becomes more difficult to be a good teacher in our modern society. So if we want to be a good teacher, we should try our best to improve our professionalknowledge, teaching skills and personal styles everyday, and to get along well with our students.。
