The Adventures of Tom Sawyer

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer

II”And any body that‟ll take a dare will suck eggs”“如果你敢碰,我就揍扁你”其“suck eggs”又让人摸不着头脑,不过据情境,会有“如果你敢碰,我就……”

The Adventures of Tom SawyerOne of my all-time favorite books is The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain. It's a classic novel about a mischievous boy named Tom Sawyer growing up in the fictional town of St. Petersburg, Missouri in the 1840s. Tom gets into all sorts of crazy adventures and hilarious trouble! The book starts off with Tom Sawyer being scolded by his Aunt Polly for skipping school and going swimming instead. See, Tom doesn't like school or doing chores one bit. He'd much rather go exploring, pulling pranks, and having fun. On this particular day, Tom convinces his friends to whitewash (paint) Aunt Polly's fence for him by making it seem like an exciting game. That's just how clever Tom is!Tom's best friend is Huckleberry Finn, who is even more mischievous than Tom. Huck is a poor boy who was basically raised in the woods and doesn't have a real family. Tom is jealous of how free Huck is without parents telling him what to do. They have some great adventures together, like when they go camping on an island and have a run-in with some criminals! The most exciting part is when Tom and Huck go to the town graveyard at night to try an old superstition about curing warts. While they're there, they accidentally witness a murder by the evil Injun Joe! This is so scary for two young boys. But if that's not nail-biting enough, Tom and Huck get lost in a creepy old haunted house trying to get away from the murderers. My heart was pounding during those intense scenes! I was on the edge of my seat turning the pages to find out what would happen next. Tom and Huck have some close calls and it seems like they might get caught by the criminals at any moment. I don't want to give too much away, but let's just say that Tom and Huck wind up being the ones who help catch the bad guys in the end. What heroes!Another major part of the story is Tom's love for a girl named Becky Thatcher. Becky is so pretty and smart, and Tom really wants to impress her. He's always trying to show off and get her attention, like when he gets into a fight over her with another boy at school. It's a classic young puppy love story that's so sweet and innocent. One hilarious scene is when Tom accidentally gets engaged to Becky during a playtime pretend marriage ceremony at school! Can you imagine being engaged at such a young age? Tom hadno idea what was going on. When the teacher found out, oh boy was he in trouble! It just goes to show how kids often play make-believe games without understanding the grown-up meaning behind them.Even though the book came out over 150 years ago, the themes and Tom's experiences are so relatable for kids today. We've all gotten in trouble for shotcuts around chores. We've all had crushes on someone at school. We've all gone on little adventures and gotten scared at some point. That's why the book is considered an American classic - it captures the spirit and freedom of childhood so perfectly. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is truly a rollicking good time from start to finish. Between Tom's pranks, his scary encounters with criminals, his love for Becky, and just the overall fun of being a kid, there's never a dull moment. Mark Twain's writing is so vivid and descriptive that you'll feel like you're right there tagging along with Tom, Huck and the whole gang in 1840s Missouri. It's a must-read for any adventure-loving kid!I'd give this book a million stars if I could. It's an entertaining romp that will keep you reading late into the night under the covers. You'll be sad when it's over because you'll miss spending time with the unforgettable characters, especially the rascal TomSawyer himself. I know I can't wait to re-read it again soon and relive all the fun, excitement, and nostalgia for childhood it provides. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is a true delight!。

Mark Twain
American’s greatest writers, journalists and humorists. He is also the founder of US critical realism literature, renowned world short story master. The greatest humorist of the 19th century in American literature.
F. His most productive years
During his seventeen years in Hartford (1874–1891), Twain wrote many of his best-known works: The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876), The Prince and the Pauper (1881), Life on the Mississippi (1883), Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884), and A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court (1889).
Being generally regarded as a boy’s story, the book is all
about Tom and his gang. While spending a summer with Aunt Polly in a drowsy Mississippi River town, Tom and his buddies Huck and Joe take a series of adventure there. They witness a horrible murder committed by Injun Joe. Finally, Tom returns to school and become a hero at the trial of Muff Potter when he reveals Injun Joe’s guilt. When Injun dies, his treasure is divided between Tom and Huck, who is now adopted by Widow Douglas. Twain had made Tom the hero of American boyhood, and the book had become the classic read in schools. By telling this story, Twain fulfils his and other adult’s dreams of ideal boyhood. All the cruelties and fears, wonders and joys of childhood are brought into vividness.

He is quite opposite of a “model” boy, clever but playful, who always disobeys the teacher and busies himself with outside matters at the lessons. Even frequently being punished by his aunt, he dislike and distain his brother’s behavior. Being fond of adventure, he dare go to a graveyard with Huck carrying a dead cat at midnight so that they witness the real situation of murder and false charge. When meeting the girl he really likes, he makes every attempts to capture her attention. After behaving bravely, calming Beckey’s fear and finding the way out of the cave , he was praised by the people.

The adventures of Tom SawyerI have already read the book called The adventures of Tom Sawyer, because I was advised by my best friend. The adventures of Tom Sawyer was written by Mark Twain in 1876.Although the book has been written for ages, it is also read by many young people around the world today. So it is very popular and great. The adventures of Tom Sawyer is a story of Tom Sawyer and his friends adventures of looking for the treasures. Tom lived in the quiet street of St Petersburg, Missouri with his aunt Polly. Tom always plays games with his friends. But he finds himself in many exciting adventures. So he run away with his friends to an island in the middle of the Mississippi River to look for some treasures. Finally, they found a box of gold in a cave.My favourite scene in the story is when everyone thought Tom was dead. He decided to go to his own funeral. So he hid and watched for a time and suddenly he appeared. Everyone was surprised to see him but they arte also pleased to see him alive. The themes of the story are to do with children’s growing and becoming more serious. Finally, it talked about freedom, social rules and how people are punished for bad behaviour. And although it’s only a story, Mark Twain wrote it in theeveryday English of the southern states of America in the 19th century, so it sounds very real. There are many characters and Tom is the hero of the story. Tom sawyer is a clever and young boy. But he’s unlucky, his parents thrown away him. He’s adventurous and naughty .But he also loved helping the poor people. For example, he helped a little boy called Jim and he’s a black man. His aunt was called Polly, a old woman. She wears a pair of glasses, she was pound of the glasses. Because of Tom’s hooky. She was always very fierce to Tom. Tom tormented her old heart almost break .Although she wanted to whip him, when Tom disappeared. She was worried about him a lot.Huckleberry Finn, the son of the town drunk. And he’s hated and dreaded by people of the town, because he’s idle, lawless, vulgar and bad, and because all children admired him. Like the rest of the respectable boys, Tom envies strict orders not to play with him, so he played with him every time when he got a chance Huckleberry came and went at his own free would. and he could swear wonderfully .In a word, everything that went to make life precious for a boy. So thought every troubled, bothered, respectable boy in St Petersburg.Becky is a pretty girl with the fair hair. And she’s a lovely girl. And Indian Joe was a dad man in the story. The end of the story, they found the bad man’s dead body in a cave. Then Tom and Hunk went to Tom’s secret entrance to the cave, and explored the area where the bad man had been hidden. They found a hidden pit in the cave ,where bad man had hidden the money he had stolen from the grave he and Muff Potter had robbed. There was many gold. Tom was happy because he could use the cave for a hiding place to play robbers with the boys. Finally, Huck was given a home by a old widow. After reading it, I wanted to read it again and I wanted to know that how about the Tom and his friends. It’s my favourite book of the adventures. Go on—read it! I know you will love it, too.。

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer《汤姆索亚历险记》英文读后感This semester I reviewed this familiar and easy-to-understandnovel,written by Mark Twain, the great American writer,on the subject of life. The story is simple, clear and vivid, describing the innocent, lively andunconstrained life of children in the nineteenth century. Their lives let meenvy, let me think, even want to cross that place, feel the life of that time.A hero of the story ──Tom Sawyer,a bad boy in the eyes of adults: mischievous,truant... And this haseven become something he must do every day! However,it is such a mischievous sothat "all evil do not do" urchin, the body is flashing manyadvantages.Once,he and Huck, the Wild Child, ran to the cemetery for a littlebit of trifles. Inadvertently, they witnessed a terrible killing. But themurderer Joe framed Huck,so the angry residents will be wronged Huck arrested. The day of Huck's trial was approaching, and Tom could not help hesitating:Sayit, and Joe,who was afraid of killing him, would kill him;not to say it,hisconscience was in great torment. Finally,Tom decided to prove everything incourt. It was a murder, and the murderer Joe was there. Was he not afraid of Joe? It's false to say he isn’t afraid, but Tom has a strong sense of justice, sohe's desperate to save Huck. He's clean.Tom is such a firm andbold, full of conscience and sense of justice, when the key he can always standup and put his life and death out of measure. I was deeply shocked by T om'sactions. You know,in the days when Tom lived,in that place,Injun Joe wasgoingto kill a little boy, though it wasn't easy, but it would never be too difficult.Because the village is also an old security guard's armed forces, plus thereonly worship wear shoes. Do you dare to ask us,the answer is almost the same:" I dare not ", because I have seen a report: an Internet bar doorhanging a banner,it says :" caught stealing cars Thieves, reward cash 100yuan ",the original Internet cafes often have cars stolen. But what'sright about catching a thief? Because now people even see thieves steal thingsdare not say,to "protect themselves ",afraid of thieves to retaliate,so,atthe critical moment, ran away without trace, fully reflect these people selfish, conservative, greedybad habits. Moreover,if everyone is cynical and actively involved in reporting, thewicked can only fight alone, two fists are difficult to fight four hands, willeventually surrender, who dare to be thieves, robbers, murderers? In fact, children are themost innocent. In some ways,we might as well take children as a teacher, theirbehavior as their own mirror, always look at themselves, can constantly erase thenoise of the world, soothe the impetuous mind,so that they always maintain achildlike heart, have a sense of justice and good nature, treat everyone with asincere heart, not so greedy, selfish! Believe everyone so,can create a bettertomorrow.Tom Sawyer is a multifaceted character whose world is full ofsunshine and hope. His experience tells us that dreams come true as long asthey are ideal and happy. One day,our nature can play freely, create a clear skyof life, create a dream of their own.。

In this essay, we will explore the various themes and characters in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. The first theme that we will explore is the theme of friendship. Tom has two close friends, Huckleberry Finn and Joe Harper. They are all mischievous boys who enjoy playing pranks and skipping school. The Adventure of Tom SawyerThe first time I began to read The Adventure of Tom Sawyer is when I was in middle school. I borrowed the novel from one of my classmates. Maybe I was too young to understand the deeper meaning of the novel at that time. I have never thought about what I learned from this novel until the American literature teacher gave us the assignment to write a book report. I saw the movie again before I started. Here, I want to share some ideas about The Adventure of Tom Sawyer, written by Mark Twain, who is regarded as the greatest humorist in the 19th century.Tom Sawyer, the hero of the novel, leaves the deepest impression on me. In my eyes, Tom is a typical boy who bears many kinds of merits. The first impression he left on me is his naughtiness. He did all the things he could do to tease his cousin Potter. He threw the tomatoes on Potter’s face and stole Potter’s cards to stop him from getting the Bible. All the things he did to trick Potter shows that he’s only still a child.Child as he was, he displayed his intelligence, braveness and ambition. When Aunt Polly forced him to paint the wall as a punishment, he managed to let all of the boys help him willingly. Tom’s cleverness was depicted from several aspects, and his cleverness always went with his naughtiness and braveness. Compared with his peers, Tom was absolutely courageous, especially when he fought against Injun Joe, the evil guy who murdered another grave robber and managed to mislead his fellow that it was his fellow who killed the victim. Actually, Tom was almost scared to death the moment he witnessed the murder. That is what a child was under that kind of bloody situation. To keep secret, he swore to the god with his partner. But, when he saw the innocent grave robber was arrested, his kindness and braveness encouraged him to speak out the fact in public, which made him become the hero of the town.No doubt that Tom was a mischievous boy, which was a common feature among his peers. However, Tom was quite different from his peers. When Tom, Huck and another boy were playing games on an island, all of the people thought these three boys were drowned. While the other two boys were missing their mother and theirfamilies, what Tom Sawyer was thinking about was how to become a successful and celebrated pirate. He was full of ambition and aimed high, though he was only still a naughty boy.One of the merits Tom bore was his love to Aunt Polly. The first time I saw the plot that he went back secretly to see his aunt when he was thought to be drowned, I was moved to tears. I had a wrong thought that Tom hated his aunt because of her bad attitudes toward Tom. Tom loved his aunt although he was ill-treated by her. The night before Tom’s funeral, Tom expressed his love to Aunt Polly. He kissed her when she was sleeping and cried when he saw his aunt was heart-broken because his “death”. In reality, I do n’t believe such a naughty boy can still love his aunt if she ill-treats him like what Aunt Polly did to Tom in the novel. The funniest thing is the story between Tom and Becky Thatcher, which always let me burst into laughter. I have never imagined that such a naughty and childish boy could do those interesting things to pursue his love, the beautiful and elegant girl named Becky. To arouse her attention, he tried all his best to tease her and even admitted the mistakes for her in the classroom. When Tom, Becky and Injun Joe were all lost in the huge and dark cave, Tom protected his love and fought against Injun Joe just like a true man! Tom was still a boy, but psychologically he was mature. Another role in the story I want to talk about is Aunt Polly, the lady who ill-treated Tom before he was famous in the town. Actually, the way she educated children was definitely wrong. She never asked the reasons why Tom did those annoying things and she has never tried to understand Tom’s thoughts. Every time Tom made mistakes, her first reaction was to punish him, no matter he was wrong or right. Sometimes, Tom was innocent, but he still couldn’t avoid being punished. However, Potter, Tom’s cousin, another trouble-maker, has seldom been criticized by Aunt Polly. In Aunt Polly’s heart, Tom was a definitely bad guy and Potter was a totally good boy. How could she educate children in such a stupid way! When Tom was scared by the murder he witnessed, he lost his energy and kept silence, which aroused Potter and Aunt Polly’s attention. In stead of comforting Tom, Aunt Polly made a wrong decision that Tom was sick. She forced Tom to drink some medicine, without any diagnosis. Howcareless she was! If she could pay more attention to Tom’s mind, Tom would make fewer troubles. We know she loved Tom and Potter, but the way she educated kids was not good. But it was not all Aunt Polly’s fault. Before Tom uncovered Injun Joe’s crime and discovered the treasure buried in the cave, all the people regarded him as a bad guy. They have never tried to know him deeply, but just kept misunderstanding him. They have never tried to believe him, but just kept criticizing him. It was the whole society that needed to think about the current education system and the way the parents taught their children. The whole society was full of hypocritical lies, which may be one of the main causes of the bad education.Tom Sawyer, the hero of the novel, is a combination of the characteristics of the boys at that age. His naughtiness, cleverness, braveness and child-innocence will be enjoyed by readers forever.。
