Toefl Speaking
1. Some people think it is very important to have social interactions with neighbors. Others feel it is not important for neighbors to know each other. Which do you agree with, and why?I actually believe that interacting with your neighbors isn’t so important. But when I tried to think of why I feel that way, I realized the reasons are personal and complicated. Firstly, knowing my neighbors isn’t a priority for me because most of my friends and family live outside my neighborhood, it’s convenient to keep in touch with them by social application. What’s more, I already spend a lot of time socializing with my friends and colleagues, and don’t have much time left over to get to know people who live in my immediate area.2. Your friend wants to lose weight. What advice would you give your friend and why?Answer 1:If my friend wanted to lose weight, I would recommend that he or she eat more frequently but smaller portions and do regular exercise. I have a family member who was successful in losing weight by drastically cutting back her calorie intake, but I saw the dangers of this firsthand. I tried to tell her that research says that eating smaller portions more often and exercising regularly was the right way to lose weight. She did exercise, but I think it’s important to exercise properly and safely and work yourself up to more intense workouts rather than to start going hard right from the get-go. To sum up, I know it’s possible to lose weight in other ways, but this is the advice I would offer to my friend if she wanted to lose weight.Answer 2:If my friend wanted to lose weight, in the beginning I would recommend that he or she eat more frequently but smaller meals. According to research eating more regularly can positively influence our metabolism, meanwhile it can help us keep blood sugar levels stable.Secondly, working out on a regular basis is also important. Not only does it help us burn more calories, but lower risk of many diseases like diabetes and obesity. To sum up, I know it’s possible to lose weight in other ways, but this is the advice I would offer to my friend if she wanted to lose weight.3. Some people prefer to read physical books made from paper, while others prefer to read electronic books on a digital device. Which do you prefer and why? I’ve actually talked to many people about this before. I personally prefer to read real, physical books as the following reasons.First and foremost, I like the smell and the sound of the pages turning. Books have a distinct smell and the feel of them in your hand is not the same as holding an e-reader of some kind. Also, I like to be able to write in a book if I want or take notes. I also believe that technology will almost entirely take over and books will no longer be printed. So, I thinkthat having real books is important as they will have a totally unique value when this happens. So, that’s why I prefer to read physical books rather than electronic books on a digital device.4. Some people like participating in a performance like the theatrical or musical show. Others prefer to be in an audience watching those plays. Which do you prefer?I firmly believe that participating in a performance benefits more than just to be an audience, the following reasons will sufficiently illustrate what I say.As for the very first reason, it is apparently because stage shows help people think outside of the box and understand how to appraise a situation. In fact, performing arts have been regarded as one the best methods of improving one's self-confidence and self-esteem over time.People will become more confident going into unfamiliar situations which is able to help them a lot to deal with new challenges successfully. What’s more, communication skill will also be improved with exposure to such an environment. Because feedback and discussion are important parts of a stage show, which will help people cooperate with others. For example, back in my high school, when me and my classmates prepared a show for our graduation ceremony. All of us expressed our opinions, then selected the best ones, finally we performed an enjoyable show.To sum up, I prefer participating in a performance.5. Some people prefer sending messages while others prefer making phone calls directly, which one do you prefer?Key points: trendy, less intrusive, convenient when noisyNowadays, sending a text message has become more popular than making a phone call. There are numerous reasons available to justify this statement. In my opinion, there are a lot more advantages than disadvantages to the practice of sending text messages. One the one hand, to send text messages to others is because it’s keeping up with the times. For instance, a survey taken by a university reveals that almost 70% of the younger prefer to use WhatsApp or WeChat to text their friends rather than using a voice call to speak. According to young people, using a messaging application is trendier than using a voice call application. On the other hand, texting is a quick and efficient way to convey information. Also, a text message is much less intrusive and impersonal than a voice call. It gives the recipient to take their own time to reply whereas when you make a call, you could cause inconvenience to the other person by calling at the wrong time. However, when you leave a text message, the other party is not disturbed, and they can decide whether they want to reply or not. Another advantage of texting is that it is very convenient. There are certain environments which are unsuitable for making voice calls. Forexample, you can’t make a voice call from a highly noisy or very quiet environment. In conclusion, the practice of sending text messages certainly has a few disadvantages. For example, we may not get an instant reply. Even so, texting has many advantages over voice calling because it is cheaper, less intrusive and more convenient.Other points: Alleviating the reaction-- avoid real eye contact and a person’s face expression; Ease of use; Easy to remember; Less stressful; Multitasking friendly6. Some people prefer to give their opinions immediately. Others prefer to wait and listen to others’ opinions before giving their own. Which one do you think is better?Personally speaking, I prefer to wait and listen to others’ opinion before giving my own. Not only because it allows us to make fewer mistakes but think about the big picture, the following reasons will sufficiently illustrate what I say.Firstly, haste makes waste. If I give my opinions too fast, I will probably just jump into conclusions and I can’t have a deep thought about it. Several seconds of wait won’t hurt. For example, when I was a student, I used to answer any question immediately. Sometimes, I was in a hurry to answer the question before anyone else without enough thinking which led me to misinterpretation. In addition, I can get a more holistic view in the process of listening to others’ opinions.I will think about from their perspective if listen to other’s viewpoint in the first place. Asa result, I can integrate their ideas into mine and get a whole thought. Thus, I prefer to wait and listen to others’ opinion firstly and develop mine later.7. Your university will allow people from the local community to learn the course on campus, they could enter into the class, but can’ t ask questions and don’ t have assignments. Do you think this is a good idea?Explain why or why not?Personally speaking, I don’t believe not allowing them to ask questions and no assignments is a good idea for the following reasons.First, if the people from local community join our class voluntarily, they must be very interested in this course and may get involved with this field. Therefore, if they are allowed to ask questions, which might be insightful and inspired. What’s more, their opinion may also help us have a deeply understanding of the course. Sometimes they may interrupt the teaching process, but we benefit more from their opinion.Secondly, having assignments not only help them review the course but increase theopportunities of the interaction with them. Then we can build a study team with community members, finishing the assignments together, which would help us a lot.8. Should children solve the problem by themselves or with the help of their parents?I strongly believe that children should solve the problem by themselves. The following reasons will sufficiently illustrate my point.First and foremost, solving problem by themselves is to help them to survive difficulty and unpleasant feelings. When our children face tough problem, they may feel frustrated, disappointed and sad, but they need to learn that they can manage these negative feelings when they inevitably arise. This is helping to build resilience and coping mechanisms and develop emotion management ability. In addition, it can help children to develop their ability of independent and logics thinking instead of seeking help immediately when they get stuck, which is critical capability when they grow up. For example, when I was a child, sometimes I would ask for help from my mother when I met problem, however, she would direct me to think and find the solution rather than telling me the directly. Now I have excellent problem-solving ability and perform better than my colleagues.9. Describe an important festival in your country. In speaking of festivals, as we all know China is a country of numerous festivals and we love to celebrate different occasions whole-heartedly. In fact, there are so many festivals in China and it is quite tough for me to pick a particular favorite. I would love to talk about the Spring Festival, which is also known as Chinese Lunar New Year, as I personally enjoy it quite a lot.The Spring Festival is the biggest festival in our country and this festival touches every single street and every single citizen of China. I suppose it is somewhat like the Christmas festival is in Western countries in terms of celebration and as the New Year festival in terms of its norm. People get together with their family members during this time and they seem happy for that. Many stores and businesses remain closed during this time and people cook delicious food, visit relatives & friends, watch TV, wear new dresses and welcome New Year.I also contact some of my friends and enjoy our time together.I invite them to have dinner with us, and I often roam around the streets with them. Welcoming the New Year is another important aspect of this festival. We wish each other a happy and prosperous new year and exchange gifts with friends and family members.10. Do you agree or disagree:“The most important lesson can’t be learnt inclass.”I totally agree with the statement that “The most important lesson can’t be learned in class”The lesson we learned in class mostly is basic knowledge and academic skills. What we learn off school is much more practical. For example, you will never learn how to maintain successful relationship with your colleagues when we are in school, but it’s crucial to survive in the fierce competition in a company. In addition, you will never learn how to make a career development in classroom, but outside of school, we’ve got have to consider for our future, about the next 5 or 10 years of planning. These are not considered in school, but we have to learn in society.。

The following text is amended on 12 November 2020. Q1: Talk about a book you have read that was important to you for some reason. Explain why the book was important to you. Give specific details and examples to explain your answer. TS: General Introduction of the book (Name, author, time you read the book)Give a simple account of the book.Key Word: Important-Interesting: draws you in.-knowledge you have learnt-enlightenment you have gainedConclusion: emphasize the IMPORTANCESample Response:3 months ago, I read a book called The Five People You Meet in Heaven written by Mitch Albom. It recounts the life and death of a simple yet dignified old man, Eddie. After dying in a accident trying to save a little girl in an amusement park, Eddie finds himself in heaven where he encounters five people who have significantly affected his life. The 5 lessons Eddie learnt about brotherhood, sacrifice, forgiveness, love and purpose of life have also enlightened me. That book changed my attitude towards life and death. It taught me to cherish life more than ever. TS: General Introduction of the book (Name of the book, how/where did you get the book)Give a simple account of the process of getting the book.Key Word: Important-It was a souvenir given by an important person-It was very difficult to get the book . Limited edition)-You got the book from a special event as a reward. Conclusion: emphasize the IMPORTANCESample ResponseOn my book shelf, there is a hard-covered book-Hamlet-that I have been treasured for years. It was given to me as a reward for my progress in Language Arts course by my high school English teacher Mr Cave. In my 10th grade, I developed a special interest in classical literature. I was crazy about Shakespeare’s play despite my weak English foundation/the lack of English proficiency. Over the 2 years, I have studied hard and improved my Language Arts’ grade from a C to an A. Therefore, my Mr Cave gave me this book in my graduation day and told me to keep my interest in classicalliterature. This book is very significant to me because it has become the motivation for my pursuit in English Literature in University.Q2. Some people believe that TV has had a positive influence on society. Others believe it has had a negative influence on the society. Which do you agree with and why. Use details and examples to explain your opinion. Positive InfluenceTS: State your standR1:Positive influence: focus on the main function of TV:-dissemination of information and knowledge-entertainmentR2:Negative influence (just mention)ConclusionSample Response:This is indeed a controversial issue. Form my point of view; TV has far more pros than cons. Firstly, television has long been regarded as a tool to disseminate in formation and knowledge. People watch news on TV to know about what’s happening in the country and the world. Children watch Animal World or National Geography to gain more knowledge. At the same time, TV is also the most prevalent and effective device to entertain the masses. Although there’s no denying that TV sometimes delivers negative information to people, the public or government censorship can ensure the quality of our TV programs today. Therefore, generally speaking, TV has had a positive influence on society. Negative InfluenceTS: State your standR1:Positive influence (just mention)R2:Negative influence-Lack of censorshipbad TV programinfluence social ideology-Make people lazy/unhealthyConclusionSample Response:In my opinion, unfortunately, television has had much more negative influence on society than positive ones. Despite the fact that TV has kept us entertained, there are many negative elements that have infiltrated into our daily life via TV. For example, the modern Cinderella stories have created many money-worshiping young ladies who dream to marry rich guys and enjoy all the luxuries in the world. Uncensored TV programme with violent and sexual content can misguide teenagers who are very susceptible to those detrimental influences. Besides, long time watching TV will negatively affect our eyesight and health. It has become the contributing factor for many illnesses like obesity, especially in the more developed countries.Q3 Intro: Centerville College is planning to purchase a sculpture for its campus. A student wrote a letter to the school newspaper to oppose the plan. The instruction before you read the passage is important since it gives you an overview of what the passage is about. The passageLetter in the Centerville College NewsThe administration has announced plans to acquire a new sculpture for campus. We should all oppose this plan. The university’s poor financial condition led it to increase the price for campus housing and tuition by 15% this year. Surely then it is in no financial position to purchase such an expensive sculpture. Moreover, just look at the sculpture: several 60-foot long steel plates, jutting out of the earth at odd angels! It’s so large. It’ll take up all the green space in front of the campus center! This is public space that should be reserved for student to use.The conversation:M: Did you see Paul’s letter in the paper about the new sculptureW: Yeah, but it was totally unconvincing. His reasons for opposing the plan are just totally off. I’m glad we will finally have some nice art on campus. I’d like to shake the donor’s hand and say ‘thank you’!M: What do you mean ‘the donor’W: You didn’t know An anonymous donor is paying the bill for most of the sculpture.M: Not the universityW: No. His assumptions about who’s paying for, they are all wrong.M: Still, I wonder if he has a point about the space it’ll take up.W: Well, you know why Paul is upset. He and his friends are always there on the lawn right where the sculpture will be, kicking around a soccer ball. They’ll just have to use another part of the campus to play.M: Oh, so he just doesn’t want to have to move.W: Yeah. For him, its sculpture verses convenience.Explain why the woman disagrees with the reasons expressed in the letter. Preparation Steps: 4:6Step 1: Read the letter and take note of the main ideas. Omit redundant details such as numbers and people’s name. (Those may be important in Listening section). Try to form pictures in your mind to help you memorize the content of the letter. . The 2nd reason: imagine一群本来在草地上踢球的学生很无奈的看着一个从天而降的巨大雕塑把他们的草坪占据了…)Step 2: Identify how many reasons and disagreements there are in the letter and conversation.Pay special attention to signaling words/sentences because they give youan idea about how many points you must include. . ‘Moreover’ in the letter.)Step 3: Take notes on paper while listening to the conversation. Fast and clear. Don’t expect to fully spell out all the words you’ve heard. Just use your own spelling so that you can pronounce the word. If you didn’t manage to take down some words that you think are important, don’t try torecall, move on and listen to the rest of the conversation. Step 4: Organize your thoughts in the 30 seconds to make a mental outlineof how to answer the question. Try to rephrase the words or sentences inthe letter and the conversation.Answering the question:Reason1 in the letter.Disagreement 1 in the conversationSignal words/sentence for transactionReason2 in the letter.Disagreement 2 in the conversationConclusionSample Response:The first reason given by Paul (if you can’t remember the name, you canjust omit this) in the letter against the purchasing of the new sculptureis that he assumes the financial difficulties faced by the university makes the sculpture too costly to buy. However, the woman disagrees because most of the price of the sculpture is paid by a donor. Hence the university will only bear a small sum of money.Besides,Paul also suggests that the huge sculpture will occupy the space in the campus which is supposed to be reserved for students’ activities. The woman dismissed this point because she knows that Paul is just reluctant to find another place to play soccer with his friends if the lawn they used to play on is occupied by the sculpture.Further more, the woman thinks that the sculpture is a nice art that can actually make the campus prettier.Q4:PassageGroup thinkOne process by which groups may make bad or irrational decisions is know as group think. Individual members of a group attempt to conform theiropinions to what they believe to be the group consensus even though the result may be negative. There are many reasons why groupthink happens. These include the desire to be liked, fear of losing a job, or even not wanting to be the one employee delaying a decision that seems inevitable. These kinds of implicit pressures to conform lead group members toultimately make decision that each, by himself or herself, might normally not make.LectureSo, let me tell you about my own experience with this when I was workingfor a computer company a couple of years ago. One day a coworker and I suggested that we should give our computer a design make-over, make them look more up-to-date. Market research was showing that new customers said they would be more interested in buying our computers if they looked cooler. Our technology was advance, but the outside design looked really old-fashioned. At first, more than half of the group supported us. There were a few senior mangers they are though who didn’t support the design change.’One of the senior manager said, ‘Our focus has always been on technology. Changing the look is unnecessary cost.Almost immediately, some of our supporters changed their minds. Even my coworker changed his mind. When I asked him why after the meeting, he told me he didn’t want to make a bad impression on the senior managers. He thought that disagreeing with them might jeopardize his chances of getting a promotion, by not looking like a team player. ‘What about me’ ‘Ehm…I hate to admit it but after a few hours of discussion I started wondering if it worth everybody’s time to argue about this. As more people sided with senior management I started to feel that I was the only one holding-up the vote. Everyone else seems to think change was unnecessary so I voted against my own idea in the end. So we unanimously decided to stay with the current old-looking design, butthis decision ended up costing us a lot of money. That same year, our competitor came out with a new design that attracted some of our customers and prevented us from profiting on potential new customers.Explain group think and its effects using the example of the computer company.PreparationStep 1: Read the passage and take note of the main ideas. Omit elaborations on details such as examples.Step 2: Pay special attention to technical terms and explanations. Ifcan’t quite understand, try to guess first and wait for more illustration in the lecture later on.Step 3: Picture a short skit in your mind when you listen to thelecture/story told by the professor.Step 4: Listen to similarities between the lecture and the passage you’ve read just now, especially the examples given to prove a point. . the answers given by the professor’s coworker when the professor asked him for the reasons for his changing of mind)Step 5: Take notes. Make sure that if you know the professor is going to recount a story, you should have the story recorded in chronological order. Outline of the story must be clear. Pay attention to signaling words.Step 6: Organize your thought in the 30 seconds to make a mental outline of how to answer the question. Try to rephrase the words or sentences in the letter and the conversation.Answering the question:Definition of group thinkExample of the computer companyLink the example to the effect about group thinkSample Response:Group think means that the individuals in a group all agree about something which may not be correct. They are under pressure to conform and makeirrational decisions that they seldom make alone. The professor gives an example of him working in a computer company years ago. At first, his coworker and he suggested a proposal to up-grade the outlook of their product. The supporters changed their minds as soon as they realize that the senior managers did not like the plan. His partner also gave up the original thought because he was afraid that if he insisted, he will leave bad impression on others. Despite the consensus we had reached about the proposal, our ultimate product was a failure. Therefore group think sometimes will results in negative results.Q5. Conversation between 2 studentsM: Hey Marry! How’s your volunteer work going You still involved in the after school programme with the elementary school kidsW: Yeah, but I’ve got a problem. I am supposed to be driving a bunch of them to the zoo tomorrow, and I am supposed to rent a van for the trip, but I waited too long to call the rental agency to reserve one and now it turns out they don’t have any van available for tomorrow. I don’t know what to do. These kids will be really disappointed if their trip gets canceled.M: Hmm…well doesn’t one of your friends on campus have a car I mean couldn’t you borrow it fo r the dayW: Yeah, probably, but I need to borrow 2 cars or there wouldn’t be enough space for all the kids. That’s why I was going to rent the van and then I need to find somebody else to drive too. I can’t drive 2 cars by myself. M: Yeah, that’s true. Well, I’m sure you can probably find a volunteer or if you want to save of the trouble of hunting down the second driver, what about public transportation Check the bus schedule. I guess there’s a bus lane that goes right pass the zoo.W: Yeah, that’s possibility, but I don’t know. It might be a real challenge supervising the kids on the bus. Sometimes they are handful when they get excited. It’s an option though. The speaker discussed 2 possible solutions to the woman’s problem.Briefly summarize the problem. Then state which solution you recommend and explain why.Problem of solution She needs two 2 carsfor all the kids andshe has to findanother driver. It is hard to supervise kids in public transportations. This question involves a difficult choice to make. Most of the times, both solutions seem feasible. You can choose either one you are morecomfortable with elaborating on.Base on the potential problems related to the 2 solutions to thinkabout more pros and cons of each solution.Answering the question:Talk about the problem.Introduce all solutions.Choose one solutionR1 for supporting the solutionR2 for not supporting the other solutionConclusionSample Response:The woman is supposed to drive a group of primary school kids to the zoo tomorrow, but she has called the rental agency too late to rent a van. She does not want to disappoint the kids by canceling the trip.Hence, herfriend has given her two possible solutions: borrowing a car or taking a bus.I prefer the first solution because it shouldn’t be very difficult to find someone who has cars available and can drive for the kids as a volunteer for a one day trip only. Besides, primary school kids are really hard to supervise in public transports, especially when they get excited. Nevertheless, she should still consider taking bus as the last resort lest she fails to find cars and drivers in such a short period of time.Q6. Now listen to a part of a lecture in a psychology class. The professor is discussing the mathematical capabilities of babies.Scientists have learnt some interesting things about the intellectual abilities of babies. They say that there is evidence that babies as youngas 5 months old can do basic arithmetic - that they can add! Scientiststhink that babies know that one plus one equals two and not one. The evidence is indirect because obviously you can’t ask a 5-month-old baby to add up some numbers for you. So they devised an experiment. In this experiment, a baby is shown a doll on a table. Okay, so the baby looks at the doll then the researcher lowers a screen in front of the doll, so nowthe doll hidden behind the screen. But the baby has already seen the dollso known it’s there. Then the researcher takes a second doll and very obviously places it behind the screen with the first one. So now you have 2 dolls behind the screen right Well, No, because what the researchers did was they secretly took away one of the dolls. And then when they raise the screen back up the baby expects to see 2 dolls, but there’s only one there. And guess what The baby surprised, it expected 2 but it only sees one. Howcould the researchers tell that the baby surprised They recorded the baby’s eye movements on camera and we know that when a baby is surprised by something, a loud noise or an unexpected flash of light many be. Its stares at where the noise or light is coming from and that’s what the babies in the experiment did. They stared coz the baby knows if you add one doll and one doll, you should have 2 dolls. So when it sees 1 doll, then it’s stares because it’s surprised.Using the research explained by the professors what the scientists have learnt about the mathematical abilities of babies.Answering the question:State about what the scientists have learnt.Introducing the experimentAccount of the experiment. Pay special attention to transition andsignaling words.ConclusionSample Response:The scientists have learnt that babies as young as 5-month old can do basic arithmetic/simple addition. They have come to this conclusion from researches that explore babies’ mathematical abilities. In one experiment, babies were shown a doll on a table and then the doll is blocked by a screen. After that, they watch the researches put a second doll behind the screen. At that point of time, the babies expect to see 2 dolls once the screen is removed. Therefore, when they only see one doll left on the table after the screen is raised up, they started because they were surprised. This research proves that baby knows that one plus one equals two.。

篇一Which one do you prefer, to solve problems on your own experience and knowledge, or to ask others for advice? As knowledge and experience serve as twim towers in problem-solving, one is often presented with two major paths that pave the way for final fulfillment, eitther to wrack his brain, just like what happened to Neuton, siiting for many years under an apple tree and eventually figuring out ond of the greatest universal rules that govern the whole globe, or to seek for others’ widsom through their advice, just as in the case of Benjinin Franklin, gathering great minds under one roof and then establishing a most world-renown libray. Both ways work. When a practical goal is involved, however, Benjimin Franklin may best be regareded as a role model in this respect and asking people for advice often turn out to be the prime alternative.Experience and knowledge borrowed or learned f rom others’ advice contribute greatly to effectiveness and effeciency for a goal-accomplishment. Not all experience and knowledge related to problem-solving can be obtained by personal effort alone due to limitations of mind and capabilities of each individual. A single thought in someone’s mind is, more often than not, far less shining compared with group’s wisdom. That explains the famous old saying that one sees further when standing upon the shoulders’ of past great giants; that explains why a great lea der is always with greater minds; that also explains why teamwork in corperation is highly emphasized in the 21st century. Brainstormand exchange of ideas between different thoughts never fail to enhance capabilities of each individula involved, a team, a company, an institution, a country, or even the entire global village.Asking others’ advice instead of getting everything done on one’s own promotes democracy and communication too. In terms of democracy, it is necessary to give others rights and chances to speak since the problem may concern them in different ways, and their saying in turn reflects our respect toward freedom of speech as well as their wisdom. In terms of communication, idea exchange sometimes focuses more than solutions, and hereby better mutual understanding about perspectives, principles, praticalities and personalities of each other.Admittely turning to others for help and suggestion by no means refers to absolute and irresponsible dependence. Consideration upon different thoughts and ideas broadens our mind, enlarges our vision, furthers understanding, enhances more effective and efficient brainstorm, and stresses mutual respect in groups and communities, which undoubtedly gives rise to better, if not the best solutions. As is paraphrased from John F Kenedy, brainstormed, there is little we cannot do while divided, there is little we can do.篇二Case of Benjinin Franklin, gathering great minds under one roof and then establishing a most world-renown libray. Brainstorm and exchange of ideas between different thoughts never fail to enhance capabilities of each individula involved, a team, a company, an institution, a country, or even the entire global village.Asking others' advice instead of getting everything done on one's own promotes democracy and communication too. Consideration upon different thoughts and ideas broadens our mind, enlarges our vision, furthers understanding, enhances more effective and efficient brainstorm, and stresses mutualrespect in groups and communities, which undoubtedly gives rise to better, if not the best solutions. As is paraphrased from John F Kenedy, brainstormed, there is little we cannot do while divided, there is little we can do.篇三After they complete their university studies, some students live in their hometowns. Others live in different towns and cities. Which do you think is beterr? Give reasons for your answer. After they complete their univerrsity studies, some students preferr to live in their hometowns while others choose to live in different towns or cities. Everybody has his own reasons for his preference. After my graduation, I will go back and live in my home city. I have made this decision because of the following reasons.Firstly, my home city is a big city that can offer a lot. There are plenty of opportunities for work, many big libraries for studies, several differrent musiums for visit, and numerous cinemas, theaters and centers for entertainment. When I go back there, I will have no difficulty in finding a job suitable for me and I can make use of all the facilities available there.Secondly, if I go back to my home city, I can look after my parents. I take this into consideration because I am their only child and they are now weak and getting on in age. If I live in the same city with them, I can visit them very often and help them whenever it is necessary.Thirdly, if I live in my home city, I will have a lot of friends, schoolmates and relatives to visit and to turn to for help when I need. Of course, I could get acquainted with many people and make many friends if I were to go to live in a strange place, but that takes time. If I go back to my home city, everybody will bewaiting for me and I will be able to settle down comfortably without any trouble and waste of time.In short, my choise is based on a careful consideration of my home city and my family. I think it is a better or sensible choice; in a certain sense, it is a must.Neighbors are the people who live near us. In your opinion, what are the qualities of a good neighbor? Use specific details and examples in your answer.篇四If you have a good neighbor, you are a lucky person. You have someone who cares about your needs and your property, who is helpful in the little day-to-day situations that come up, and who is supportive in times of crisis.A good neighbor is someone who, for instance, understands that your children may occasionally run across his lawn,- even though you tell them not to. He'll realize that children can be careless about things like that, and he won't make a big fuss about it unless it becomes a regular thing. In the same vein, he knows that you'll understand if some of the trash from his trash cans blows across into your yard. In other words, he is sensitive to the unintentional things that can happen. He doesn't make a big deal about them.A good neighbor is also respectful of your property. For example, she asks your permission before doing anything that interferes with what's yours. This means she wouldn't plant a huge tree in between your houses without asking how you felt about it. If she wanted to put up a fence, she would let you know first. She might work with you to decide where it should be placed. Maybe the two of you would even split the cost.A good neighbor would lend you some milk if you ran out. She'd give you a ride to work if your car was broken, and let your children stay at her house in the evening if you got stuck working overtime. You would do the same for her. Both of you would help make the other's life easier. When something really awful happens to you, like a death in the family, a good neighbor will volunteer to help in any way he can. This could mean something small, like making some casseroles to put in your freezer to feed visiting relatives. Or it could mean something big, like helping you get through the sadness of the funeral. I think only someone who has experienced a bad neighbor can really appreciate a good one! A good neighbor can be a good friend. He or she can make all the difference in the world to your life.篇五Some people prefer to eat at food stands or restaurants. Other people prefer to prepare and eat food at home. Which do you prefer? Use specific reasons and esamples to support your answer. Some people like to eat out at food stands and restaurants, while others like to prepare food at home. Often it depends on the kind of lifestyle people have. Those with very busy jobs ou tside the house don’t always have time to cook. They like the convenience of eating out. Overall, though, it is cheaper and healthier to eat at home. While eating in restaurants is fast, the money you spend can add up. When I have dinner at a restaurant with a friend, the bill is usually over twenty dollars. I can buy a lot of groceries with that much money. Even lunch at a fast-food stand usually costs five or six dollars for one person. That’s enough to feed the whole family at home. Eating at home is better for you, too. Mealsat restaurants are often high in fat and calories, and they serve big plates of food-much more food-than you need to eat at one meal. If you cook food at home, you have more control over the ingredients. You can use margarine instead of butter on your potatoes, or not put so much cheese on top of your pizza. At home, you can control your portion size. You can serve yourself as little as you want. In a restaurant, you may eat a full plate of food "because you paid for it."It’s true that eating out is convenient. You don’t have to shop, or cook, or clean up. But real home cooking doesn’t have to take up a lot of time. There are lots of simple meals that don’t take long to make. In fact, they’re faster than eating out, especially if you think of the time you spend driving to a restaurant, parking, waiting for a table,, waiting for service, and driving home. Both eating at restaurants and cooking at home can be satisfying. Both can taste good and be enjoyed with family and friends. I prefer cooking at home because of the money and health issues, but people will make the choice that fits their lifestyle best.。

托福口语高分范文(实用19篇)The place I would like to visit most is the outer space, the place where most of the physical laws on the earth do not apply. It is interesting to see everything floating in the air. And the term “in the air” should also be modified simply because there is no air anyway. It is interesting to walk the distance in a whole new style. And it is interesting to see the mother planet from a whole new angle. This big blue crystal sphere, from the pictures taken by those astronauts, the sight is marvelous. And I am dying to see this big blue ball in this style. (108)For teenagers aged between 15 to 18, what is the most important to the teacher?1)the ability to help students plan for future2)the ability to recognize which student needs help andoffer that help3)the ability to encourage students to learn on their own outside of the classroom托福写作三选一类范文Secondary education can be one of the most formative experiences in a person’s life. What qualities make a good high school teacher? People might go for abilities like helping with future planning or encouraging academic autonomy. I, however, believe that the most important factor is the ability to recognize students in need and the willingness to lend a hand. The first beneficiary is underachievers. More often than not, students who fall behind suffer from a low self-esteem. It is especially true for teenagers who find it a disgrace to loseface in front of their peers. In this case, they would stayunder the radar and try to bury their problems in the dark. Nobody would even notice, not to mention offering any help. However, a teacher with a perceptive mind can discover the problem before it gets worse, so that the troubled kid could get proper help. Let’s say a boy whose parents are going through a nasty divorce may show up late at school or miss the deadlinefor science projects. If the teacher can spot his recent anomaly and reaches out to him, the boy might open up and confide to the teacher. This is the first step on the road to recovery and an attentive teacher makes all the difference. To sum up, to benefit high school students to a greater extent, the teachers have to be able to recognize what’s going wrong and what can be done to make it right. Other characterscan be good to have, but also fine to live without.Still one thing, a factory can be very dangerous. Because a fire or a explosion may break out in the factory. If it’s very near our home, it’s quite dangerous.2. Make sure that the factory can deal with the waste properly. Do not release the poisonous gasinto the air, and not release the waste water into the river nearby.3. Make sure the security guard in the factory works very well.1、说出你认为对你最有用的一本书,并解释原因。
Task:It has been said, “Not everything that is learned is contained in books.” Compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience with knowledge gained from books. In your opinion, which source is more important? Why?. We all crave knowledge, especially in this Age of Information, but what is the best source of knowledge? Are we to believe Albert Camus, who stated” The place we are to get knowledge is in books”? Or are we better served by following Albert Einstein's counsel that “The only source of knowledge is experience”? Although books have their place in one's learning, there is no substitute for experience; indeed, it is experience that is ultimately the most important source of knowledge.First, let us consider the knowledge needed to undertake a profession-for example, that of a physician. Knowledge gained from books provides the foundation of a doctor's training: study in a medical school begins with a near-overload of reading on anatomy, physiology and maladies both rare and common. However, during this time the medical student is also learning through experience, beginning with dissecting cadavers from almost the first day of medical school. Then, the aspiring physician must complete four years of residency, consisting of actual supervised experience at a hospital in which he or she now must put into practice all of the knowledge he or she has edge of dealing with patients, prescribing medication, and the joy and sadness of saving and losing patients; in other words, it is through experience that these residents finally learn what it means to be a doctor. What about knowledge other than professional expertise-for example, knowledge about another culture? In this realm as well, both books and real-life experience enrich and edify us. For example, Paris is perhaps the most talked-about and written-about city in the world. We could read Hemingway's A Moveable Feast, in which he describes the excitement and intellectual spirit-as well as the restaurants and plentiful red wine-of Paris in the 1920's. Or, we could travel to Paris and eat at bistros, walk across the Pont Neuf and look at the river Seine, visit the Louvre museum, and have adventures of our own. Clearly, most people would have attained more lasting and vivid knowledge by visiting Paris on their own rather than reading about it secondhand. In summary, experience, rather than books, is more central to our quest for learning, especially with regard to professional expertise. With regard to learning about another culture, experience is also irreplaceable. Yet not everyone in the world will have the health or financial resources to carry out a trip to Paris. But many people have access to a local library where they can borrow A Moveable Feast and, at no cost, read Hemingway's vibrant descriptions of Paris. We cannot forget the complementary and unique knowledge afforded by books, but experience is the most precious source of knowledge. Some people say that computers have made life easier and more convenient. Other people saythat computers have made life more complex and stressful. What is your opinion? Use specificreasons and examples to support your answer. Some universities require students to choose a variety of subjects; others only require students tospecialize in one subject. I deem the first one as the premier choice. Among countless factors, there are three conspicuous aspects as follows. The main reason for my propensity that students should take classes in many subjects is that theycan make full use of the abundant resources that a university has to offer. A university has plentyof educational and research resources. It is a very good idea to make full use of these valuableassets while studying in the university. The best way to achieve this is to take a variety of subjectsas much as possible. Through learning these courses, a student can get access to knowledge andresources in different areas. On the contrary, if a student only specializes in one subject, he willnot have a chance to get access to other resources offered by the university.Another reason can be seen by every person is that by choosing many subjects students can broaden their knowledge and make a solid foundation for their future concentrated study. Whatever the student will concentrate on in his senior years in college, it is necessary that hechoose a wide range of subjects to build the knowledge foundation. Take the field of BusinessManagement for example, the student has to acquire knowledge in writing, accounting, economicsand human resource management before he can successfully start his major concentration argument I support in the first paragraph is also in a position of advantage because studentscan be more adaptable in their future career if they choose a variety of subjects during theiruniversity study. It is obvious that the development of modern society requires people with inter-disciplinary and comprehensive knowledge. If a student chooses a variety of subjects in hisuniversity study, and gained a breath and width of knowledge, he will be more adaptable to therequirement of the society, and be able to easily adjust to many kinds of jobs. This will benefit hisfuture career. In a word, taking into account of all these factors, we may reach the conclusion that studentsshould take classes in many subjects in a university. In 1990, new rules and guidelines were adopted in the United Kingdom that has changed the whole field of Archaeology in that country. The new guidelines improved the situation in all there areas discussed in the passage.First, the new guidelines state that before any construction project can start, the construction site has to be examined by archaeologists to see whether the site is of archaeological interest or value. If the site is of archaeological interest, the next step is for the builders, archaeologists and local government officials to get together and make a plan for preserving the archaeological artifacts, either by building around them or by excavating and documenting them properly before the construction is allowed to proceed.Second, an important part of the new guidelines is a rule that any archaeological work done on the construction site will be paid for by the construction company not by the government. The construction company has to pay for the initial examination of the site, and then for all the work carried out under the preservation plan. This is a whole new source of financial support. The funding from construction companies has allowed researchers to study a far greater range of archaeological sites than they could in the past.Last, the new guidelines provide a lot of paid work for archaeologists, work that didn’t exist before. Expert archaeologists are now hired at all stages of the process to examine the site for archaeological value, then to help draw up the preservation plan to do the research in a professional scientific manner and finally to process the date and write reports and articles. The increased job and career opportunities in Archaeology have increased the number of professional archaeologists in Britain, which is now the highest it’s ever been. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The best way to travel is in a group ledby a tour guide. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. There are a lot of views whether the best way to travel is in a group led by a tour guide. Differentpeople has different viewpoint. In my opinion, a group led by a tour guide is the best way totravel. The argument for this view goes as follows:In the first place, there are many advantages when people travel in a group. First, people will notfeel boring in a long trip. People can talk, laugh and make joking like a big family. Second, thegroup will help you a lot when you have any emergency. The people in the group could help youfigure out the awkward situation that will be unimaginable when you travel alone. Third, with thegroup discount, such as the discount for airplane ticket, the hotel, and the admission ticket, travelers can save a lot of money when they use the group discount. In the second place, there are many advantages too when people travel led by a tour guide. Thetour guide will arrange all the details about the trip in advance. The traveler need not worry aboutwhere to find the hotel, where to rent the car, and how to find the direction. It will make the trip a little bit easy. Another advantage is that led by a tour guide will save much time than travelingalone. With the professional knowledge, tour guide will make the smartest schedule. I wouldnever forget that one of my friend, a city tour guide in the Shanghai, China, said that she can leadtraveler to visit the whole city by one day which people should spend two or three days to finishit. In conclusion, there are many advantages when people travels in a group led by a tour guide, suchas save money, save time, do not feel boring, and is easy to take care of. Therefore, I stronglyagree that the best way to travel is in a group led by a tour guide.。
Nowadays, thanks to the development of Internet, we are exposed to a vast ocean of information. Some argue that so much information brings a great benefit to our life and study. But for me, the experience with surfing Internet leads me to believe that accessing much information cause more problems than it solves。
In the modern era, technology has become an integral part of our daily lives, transforming the way we live, work, and learn. One of the most significant areas where technology has left an indelible mark is in the realm of education. The advent of digital tools and online platforms has revolutionized the traditional classroom, offering new opportunities and challenges for both students and educators alike.Firstly, the use of technology in education has made learning more accessible. With the proliferation of online courses and educational apps, students can now access a wealth of information and resources at their fingertips. This has broken down geographical barriers, allowing students from remote areas to participate in courses offered by prestigious institutions worldwide.Secondly, technology has enhanced the interactive nature of learning. Interactive whiteboards, educational software, and virtual reality simulations provide immersive experiencesthat cater to different learning styles. These tools can make complex concepts more tangible and understandable, thus improving the overall learning experience. However, the integration of technology in education is not without its drawbacks. One of the primary concerns is the potential for distraction. With the internet at theirfingertips, students may be tempted to engage in online activities unrelated to their studies, which can detract from their learning.Additionally, there is the issue of the digital divide. Not all students have equal access to technological resources, which can exacerbate existing educational inequalities. It is crucial for policymakers and educators to address this issue to ensure that technology serves as an equalizer rather than a barrier in education. In conclusion, technology has the potential to greatly enhance the educational experience, making it more accessible and interactive. However, it is essential to manage the challenges it presents, such as distraction and the digital divide, to ensure that all students can benefit from technological advancements in education. As we continue to embrace technology in the classroom, it is imperative that we do so thoughtfully and inclusively.。

The Importance of Learning a Foreign Language。
Learning a foreign language has become increasingly important in today's globalized world. With the rapid development of technology and the increasing interconnectedness of different countries and cultures, the ability to speak and understand a foreign language has become a valuable skill that can open up a world of opportunities. In this essay, I will discuss the importance of learning a foreign language and the benefits it can bring.Firstly, learning a foreign language can greatly enhance one's career prospects. In a globalized economy, many companies are looking for employees who can speak multiple languages, as this can give them a competitive edge in the international market. For example, a person who can speak both English and Mandarin will have a significant advantage when doing business with Chinese companies, as they will be able to communicate more effectively and build stronger relationships. In addition, many multinational companies require their employees to be proficient in at least one foreign language, and those who are able to meet this requirement are often given higher salaries and better job opportunities.Secondly, learning a foreign language can also broaden one's horizons and help them to better understand and appreciate different cultures. Language is closely tied to culture, and by learning a foreign language, one can gain insights into the customs, traditions, and values of the people who speak that language. This can help to foster greater understanding and empathy towards people from different backgrounds, and can also help to break down cultural barriers and promote greater harmony and cooperation between different countries.Furthermore, learning a foreign language can also have cognitive benefits. Studies have shown that bilingual individuals have better problem-solving skills, improved memory, and a greater ability to multitask. This is because learning a foreign languagerequires the brain to work in different ways, which can help to improve overall cognitive function. In addition, learning a foreign language can also delay the onset of dementia and Alzheimer's disease, as it helps to keep the brain active and engaged. In conclusion, learning a foreign language is an important skill that can bring a wide range of benefits. It can enhance one's career prospects, help them to better understand and appreciate different cultures, and provide cognitive benefits. Therefore, I believe that everyone should make an effort to learn a foreign language, as it can open up a world of opportunities and enrich one's life in many ways.

Topic: The benefits of online learning outweigh the drawbacks.Instructions: Explain your views on the topic, supporting your position with reasons and examples.Response:Online learning has become increasingly popular in recent years, and for good reason. It offers a number of advantages over traditional face-to-face learning, including flexibility, convenience, and cost-effectiveness. While there are some drawbacks to online learning, such as the lack of face-to-face interaction and the need for self-discipline, the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks. One of the biggest benefits of online learning is itsflexibility. Students can learn at their own pace and on their own schedule. This is ideal for students who have busy schedules or who live in remote areas. Online learning also allows students to access course materials anytime, anywhere. This is a major advantage for students who need to review material or who want to learn more about a particular topic.Another major benefit of online learning is its convenience. Students do not have to commute to a physical classroom, which can save them time and money. Online learning also allows students to participate in class from anywhere with an internet connection. This is ideal for students who travel frequently or who have other commitments that make it difficult to attend traditional classes.Online learning can also be more cost-effective than traditional face-to-face learning. This is because online courses often have lower tuition costs and do not require students to purchase textbooks or other materials. Additionally, online learning can save students money ontransportation and other expenses. While there are some drawbacks to online learning, such as the lack of face-to-face interaction and the need forself-discipline, the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks. Online learning is a flexible, convenient, and cost-effective way to learn. If you are considering taking an online course, I encourage you to do so. You may be surprised at how much you enjoy it.## 议论文。

We talked about everything from food to culture, and I could see my language skills improving day by day.One thing that really helped me was watching English movies and TV shows. I would pause the show every time I heard a new word or phrase and look it up. This way, I was able to learn vocabulary in a fun and engaging way.Traveling to English-speaking countries was another amazing experience. I remember my first trip to the UK; Iwas surrounded by the language all the time. Even though I made mistakes, people were so friendly and patient with me.Learning a new language is definitely a challenge, but it's also incredibly rewarding. It opens up a whole new world of opportunities and allows you to connect with people from different cultures. I'm so glad I took on this journey!。
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: It is more important for students to study history and literature than it is for them to study science and mathematics?I strongly agree with the statement that studying history and literature is more important for students than studying science and mathematics. While science and mathematics are undoubtedly valuable subjects, history and literature provide students with a well-rounded education that fosters critical thinking, cultural understanding, and communication skills.History allows students to learn from the past, understand the evolution of societies, and gain insights into the consequences of human actions. Literature, on the other hand, exposes students to diverse perspectives, fosters empathy, and enhances language skills. While science and mathematics are essential for technological advancements, history and literature provide the ethical and cultural context necessary for responsible innovation. Therefore, a balanced curriculum that includes history and literature is vital for developing informed and well-rounded individuals.2. Some people believe that technology has made children less creative than they were in the past. Do you agree or disagree?I disagree with the notion that technology has made children less creative. While technology has introduced new forms of entertainment and learning, it has also provided opportunities for creativity and innovation.Technology enables children to engage in various creative activities. They can create digital art, compose music using software, and even design video games.Additionally, access to information and diverse perspectives through the internet can inspire creativity and expand their horizons. Moreover, technology often requires problem-solving and critical thinking skills, which are fundamental to creativity. Children who use technology to solve puzzles, code, or explore scientific concepts are actively engaging their creative minds. In conclusion, technology can serve as a powerful tool to foster creativity in children when used thoughtfully and in moderation. It opens up new avenues for expression and problem-solving, making it a valuable asset rather than a hindrance to creativity.3. Some people think that environmental problems are too big for individuals to solve, and that only governments and large companies can make a difference. To what extent do you agree or disagree?I disagree with the notion that individuals cannot make a difference in solving environmental problems. While government and large companies play significant roles, individual actions collectively have a substantial impact on the environment.Individuals can reduce their carbon footprint by conserving energy, using public transportation, and adopting sustainable practices in their daily lives. By making environmentally conscious choices, such as reducing plastic waste or conserving water, individuals contribute to positive environmental change.Furthermore, individual actions can influence governments and corporations. Grassroots movements and consumer demand for eco-friendly products have led to policy changes and increased corporate responsibility. For instance, the push for renewable energy sources and stricter environmental regulations has been driven, in part, by public awareness and advocacy. In conclusion, individuals have the power to make a difference in addressing environmental problems through their choices, actions, and influence on largerentities. While governments and corporations have a crucial role to play, individual efforts are integral to creating a sustainable future.4. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: It is important for governments to spend money on art such as music, painting, and dance?I strongly agree with the statement that it is important for governments to spend money on art. Art plays a vital role in society, fostering cultural enrichment, creativity, and social cohesion.Government investment in art supports cultural preservation and heritage. Museums, galleries, and cultural institutions receive funding to protect and showcase valuable artworks, preserving the cultural identity and history of a nation.Art also enhances creativity and innovation, benefiting society as a whole. Exposure to various forms of art, such as music, painting, and dance, stimulates creative thinking, problem-solving, and individual expression. This creativity can have positive impacts in fields beyond art, including science, technology, and business.Additionally, art contributes to social cohesion by providing a platform for shared experiences and expressions of diverse perspectives. Cultural events and artistic performances bring communities together, fostering a sense of unity and belonging. In conclusion, government investment in art is a wise allocation of resources that promotes cultural preservation, creativity, and social cohesion. It enriches society in ways that extend beyond the artistic realm.5. Some people believe that immigrants should adopt the culture of their new country, while others think they should maintain their own cultural traditions. Discuss both views and give your opinion. The question of whether immigrants should adopt the culture of their new country or maintain their own cultural traditions is a complex one, with valid arguments on both sides.Advocates for cultural assimilation argue that adopting the culture of the host country is essential for social cohesion and integration. They contend that shared values, language, and customs facilitate better communication and understanding among diverse communities. Cultural assimilation, they argue, helps immigrants become active and productive members of their new society. On the other hand, supporters of cultural preservation argue that maintaining one's cultural traditions is vital for preserving identity and diversity. They believe that a multicultural society is enriched by the contributions of various cultures and that immigrants should not be forced to abandon their heritage. Cultural preservation, they argue, can lead to a more vibrant and inclusive society. In my opinion, the ideal approach lies in a balance between assimilation and cultural preservation. Immigrants should have the freedom to choose which aspects of their cultural heritage they wish to maintain, while also respecting and adapting to the cultural norms and values of their new country. This balance allows for the coexistence of diverse cultures while fostering integration and understanding within the broader society.6. Some people believe that the government should promote a vegetarian diet to improve public health, while others think it should be a personal choice. Discuss both views and give your opinion. The promotion of a vegetarian diet by the government to improve public health is a topic of debate. Some argue that it should be a personal choice, while others believe in government intervention.Proponents of government promotion of a vegetarian diet argue that it can lead to better public health outcomes by reducing the consumption of meat, which is associated with various health risks. They contend that government campaigns can educate the public about the benefits of a vegetarian diet and provide incentives for healthier eating. On the other hand, advocates for personal choice argue that individuals should have the freedom to make their dietary decisions based on their preferences and beliefs. They believe that government should not interfere in matters of personal choice, including what people choose to eat.In my view, the government should play a role in promoting healthy dietary choices, but it should not mandate a vegetarian diet. Education and awareness campaigns can provide information about the health benefits of reducing meat consumption, but the ultimate decision should rest with individuals. Encouraging a balanced and informed approach to diet is key to improving public health.7. Some people argue that the death penalty should be abolished because it is inhumane, while others believe it serves as an effective deterrent for serious crimes. Discuss both views and give your opinion. The debate over the death penalty is a contentious one, with arguments on both sides regarding its humanity and effectiveness as a deterrent for serious crimes.Opponents of the death penalty argue that it is inhumane and violates the right to life. They contend that there is a risk of executing innocent individuals, and that the death penalty does not serve as an effective deterrent, as there is no conclusive evidence that it reduces serious crimes. On the other hand, proponents of the death penalty believe that it serves as a powerful deterrent for heinous crimes such as murder. They argue that it provides closure to victims' families and ensures that dangerous criminals do not have the opportunity to commit further crimes. In my opinion, the death penalty should be abolished. The potential for irreversible errors in judgment and the ethical concerns surrounding taking a human life outweigh any potential deterrent effect. Alternative forms of punishment, such as life imprisonment, can ensure public safety without resorting to state-sanctioned killing.8. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: All students should be required to study art and music in secondary school.I strongly agree with the statement that all students should be required to study art and music in secondary school. Art and music education offer numerous benefits that contribute to a well-rounded education and personal development.Firstly, art and music stimulate creativity and self-expression. They provide students with an outlet for their emotions and thoughts, fostering imagination and critical thinking. These skills are valuable in various aspects of life and can enhance problem-solving abilities.Secondly, art and music education promote cultural appreciation and awareness. They expose students to different artistic styles, historical periods, and culturaltraditions, fostering empathy and an understanding of diverse perspectives. This cultural awareness is essential in an increasingly globalized world.Furthermore, art and music can have a positive impact on emotional well-being. They provide avenues for stress relief and self-reflection, contributing to mental and emotional health. In conclusion, requiring students to study art and music in secondary school is essential for their holistic development. These subjects nurture creativity, cultural understanding, and emotional well-being, making them integral components of a comprehensive education.9. Some people believe that advancements in technology, such as the internet and smartphones, have made people more isolated and less sociable. Do you agree or disagree? The impact of advancements in technology, including the internet and smartphones, on social interactions is a matter of debate. Some argue that these technologies have made people more isolated and less sociable, while others disagree.I agree with the view that advancements in technology have had a mixed impact on social interactions. While they have created new forms of communication and connection, they have also brought challenges related to isolation and reducedface-to-face interaction.Technology, such as social media and instant messaging, enables people to stay in touch with friends and family, even across great distances. It can also facilitate the formation of online communities and support networks. However, the overuse of technology can lead to reduced physical interactions, as people spend more time on screens and less time engaging with others in person. Moreover, technology has changed the nature of social interactions. It can lead to shallow, online-only relationships, making it essential for individuals to strike a balance between virtual and real-world connections. In conclusion, while technology has the potential to enhance social interactions and connections, it also carries the risk of isolation when used excessively. It is crucial for individuals to use technology mindfully and prioritize in-person interactions to maintain healthy social relationships.10. Some people believe that individual actions, such as recycling and conserving energy, are not sufficient to address environmental problems. They argue that governments and large corporations must take the lead. To what extent do you agree or disagree?I believe that individual actions, such as recycling and conserving energy, are important but not sufficient on their own to address environmental problems. Governments and large corporations must also take a proactive role in environmental conservation.Individual actions, such as reducing waste and adopting sustainable practices, play a crucial role in raising environmental awareness and setting an example for others. However, the scale of environmental issues, such as climate change and habitat destruction, requires coordinated efforts at a larger scale.Governments have the power to implement policies and regulations that can significantly impact environmental conservation. They can establish emissions standards, invest in renewable energy sources, and protect natural habitats. Government actions can create a conducive environment for sustainable practices.Large corporations are major contributors to environmental issues, but they also have the resources and influence to make substantial changes. When corporationsadopt sustainable practices, reduce emissions, and prioritize eco-friendly products, they can have a significant positive impact on the environment. In conclusion, addressing environmental problems requires a multi-pronged approach. While individual actions are important, governments and large corporations must also take responsibility and lead the way in implementing sustainable practices and policies.。

Is it better to enjoy your money when you earn it or is it better to save your money for some time in the futureUse specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.范文The Advantages of Saving MoneyEveryone must work to live, but many people are fortunate enough to make more money than they immediately need. What should they do with this extra incomeWhile it is tempting for people to spend it all on things they desire,I believe it is better to save at least a portion of the extra income for the future.By saving money, people give themselves more security. They cannot predict the future; perhaps one day they will be jobless. At a time like this their savings can spare them a great deal of suffering and help to see them through the hard time.In addition, saving money allows people to build up a larger sum. They can then buy something more worthwhile than the small things they can but if they spend the money right away. For example, they may be able to buy a house with their savings. Finally, the practice of saving helps people develop the habit of setting goals and planning for their future. In this way they are bound to lead more meaningful and successful lives. Most people would like to enjoy their money immediately.Nobody likes to wait for the things that he wants. However,if we learn to save our money,we can gain more advantages in the future. We will lead more secure and, thus, happier lives. We will also be able to buy the things we truly want but cannot afford right now. In this temple as in people"s heart abraham lincoln who saved the union will be enshined forever这是写林肯纪念堂上的一句话. DISHONESTY KILLS RELIABILITYThere are certain considerations or factors that everyone takes into account in a relationship. People may look for honesty, altruism, understanding, loyalty, being thoughtful etc! Everyonewould more or less wish that the person s/he isdealing with, has some of these virtues above.Putting them in an order according to their importance, however can be very subjective and relative. When someone asks him/herself the question “What do Iconsider to be the most important thing in my relationship”the answerdepends on a lot of factors such as how his/her earlier relationships were. After stating that everyone’s opinioncan be different about this, for me honesty, in other words, always telling thetruth is the most important consideration in a relationship. Opposite of thisis inarguably lying and if someone needs to lie, either s/he is hidingsomething or is afraid of telling me something. In any relationship of mine, I would wish that first of all, the person I’m dealing with is honest. Even though s/he thinks thats/he didsomething wrong that I wouldn’t like, s/he’d better tell me the truth and notlie about it. Later on if I find out about a lie or hear the truth from someoneelse, that’d be much more unpleasant. In that case how can I ever believe ortrust that person again How can I ever believe that this person has enoughconfidence in me to forgive him/her and carry on with the relationship fromthere. So if I cannot trust a person any more, if the person doesn’t think Ican handle the truth, there’s no point to continuing that relationship.Although I would like to see altruistic, understanding, thoughtful and loyal behavior from people, an instance of the opposite of these behaviorswould not upset me as much as dishonesty would. Among all the possiblebehaviors, dishonesty is the only one for me that terminates how I feel about aperson’s reliability. Therefore honesty would be my first concern and themost important consideration in a relationship. The lecture and the listening have different ideOffering employees the option of a four-day workweek won’t affect the company profits, economic conditions or the lives of employees in the ways the reading suggests.First, offering a four-day workweek will probably force companies to spend more, possibly a lot more.Adding new workers means putting much more money into providing training and medical benefits.Remember the costs of things like health benefits can be the same whether an employee works four days or five. And having more employees also requires more office space and more computers. These additional costs would quickly cut into company profits.Second, with respect to overall employment,it doesn’t follow that once some employees choose a four-day workweek, many more jobs will become available.Hiring new workers is costly,as I argued a moment ago.And companies have other options. They might just choose to ask their employees to work overtime to make up thedifference.Worse, companies might raise expectations. They might start to expect that their four-day employees can do the same amount of work they used to do in five days.If this happens, then no additional jobs will be created and current jobs will become more unpleasant. Finally, while a four-day workweek offers employees more free time to invest in their personal lives,it also presents some risks that could end up reducing their quality of life.Working a shorter week can decrease employees’ job stability and harm their chances for advancing their careers.Four-day employees are likely to be the first to lose their jobs during an economic downturn. They may also be passed over for promotions because companies might prefer to havefive-day employees in management positions to ensure continuous coverage and consistent supervision for the entire workweek. Depending on personal experience, personality type and emotional concern, we find that some people hold the idea of A meanwhile othersprefer to B, from my point of view, it is more advisable to chose A rather than B. Admittedly, __________________A也有好的地方______________.By he same token, however, ______________B更好____________.Takingsintosaccount of all these factors, we may reach the conclusion that_____________.一, “点对点”的结构“点对点”的结构指的是把综合写作中的阅读材料和听力材料的每一个对应点都单独提炼出来用一个段落加以阐述.这种结构的优点是可以把阅读文章和听力材料的对应关系更细致地进行说明,使文章层次感强,同时反映出考生提炼信息和对比信息的能力更高.比如下面的一篇范文就是ETS给出的满分作文,是一篇典型的“点对点”型的结构安排方式.Introduction-Relationship between reading and lecture The lecturer talks about research conducted by a firm that used the group to handle their work. He says that the theory stated in the passage was verydifferent and somewhat inaccurate when compared to what happened in reality.First Point of Contrast First, some members got free rides. That is, some didn’t work hard but got recognition for the success nonetheless. This also indicates that people who hard were not given recognition they should have gotten. In other words, weren’t given the opportunity to “shine”. This directly contradicts what th e passage indicates.Second Point of Contrast Second, groups were slow in progress. The passage says that groups are more responsive than individuals because of the number of people involved and aggregated resources. However, the speaker talks about how the firm found that groups were slower than individuals in decision making. Groups needed time for meetings, which are necessary procedures in decision making. This is another place where experience contradicted theory.Third Point of Contrast Third, influential people might emerge and lead the group towards glory If the influent people are going in the right direction there would be no problem. But in cases where they go in the wrong direction, there is nobody that has influence to counter the decision made. In other words, the group might turn dictatorship, with the influential party as the leader, and might become less inits thinking. They might become one-sided, and thus fail to succeed. Introduction-Relationship between reading and lecture The lecturer talks about the natural process of crystallization and how the speed of cooling can influence such process, which is proved by Bowen’scrystallization experiment explained in the reading passage.Points in the lecture Natural crystallization happens when magma, which is extremely hot in its molten form deep in the earth, gradually cools off when it moves towards the surface of the earth. During the cooling process, the energy from heat is lost, and the atoms which compose the magma begin to move more slowly, forming into an orderly pattern, which turns the magma into a solid crystal structure. However, if the cooling process takes place too rapidly, then there is not enough time for the atoms to be arranged into such an orderly pattern. Therefore, crystallization can’t take place. Instead, a brittle, glass-like material will form.Points in the Reading Norman Bowen’s experiment in the 1920sproved this theory. By collecting and melting elements in rocks, Norman created artificial magma in his laboratory. He first cooledthe magma slowly, as in the natural crystallization process, and got mineral crystals. But then he suddenly replaced this normal cooling with rapid freezing, and found frozen glass materials surrounding the solid crystal structure.可以看出,“点对点”和“面对面”的结构有各自的特点,但总得来说“点对点”的结构在“对比型”的新托福综合写作中要更适用一些,因为它能把矛盾点逐一呈现,更细致地体现了听力和阅读材料之间的关系.但掌握“面对面”的结构也很有必要,因为它可以适用一些听力和阅读材料之间的关系是一致、延伸或解释型的考题.此外,在考生无法寻找到所有的对应点时,用“面对面”的结构也算是一种补救措施.附:新托福综合写作sample answer 两篇,针对的是同一个考题,第一篇用的是“点对点”结构,第二篇用的是“面对面”的结构._______________________________________________________祝你成功啦!小站托福范文侃哥托福范文。

Topic 4
Topic4、It has been said, "Not everything that is learned is contained in books." Compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience with knowledge gained from books. In your opinion, which source is more important? We gain our knowledge about the world and our life from two sources: from experience and from books. These two resources are both important, but which of them is more important?Knowledge from books forms a very important part of our knowledge structure. In schools and colleges, we learn knowledge which is fundamental to our future career. We learn knowledge from books in order to make our contributions to this society in the future. A student learns mathematic equations and other scientific knowledge and become a scientist or engineer. We will be illiterate and ignorant without learning knowledge from books. Moreover, we acquire knowledge about life and the world by reading books, magazines and newspapers. This is alsovery important as we cannot experience everything all by ourselves. Therefore books are a very important source of knowledge. On the other hand, we can't learn everything from a book. “Experience is the best teacher” is an old cliché, but I agree with it. The most important, and sometimes the hardest, lessons we learn in life come from our participation in situations. We learn how to get along with others or how to have self-respect from our experience, not from books. We cannot learn emotional feelings, such as love and care, through books; they come from our real life experience. Knowledge from experience is also a very important supplement to knowledge from books.Needless to say both learning sources, books and experience, are very important to us. But in my opinion knowledge from experience is more important, because without knowledge from experience, it is impossible to get a real understanding of knowledge from books, and how to apply this knowledge to real world situations.。
托福范文 the best way to know a country
To begin with, travelling is expected to achieve the aim of totally understanding a country. Living at a cottage in the countryside together with local residents, when asking the way home, you are greeted with kind hospitality of the locals. Naturally, it is having chants with the natives in the amicable ambience that serves as an effective access to the olds’ views towards the government, their live condition as well as their circumstance even their economic situation. Besides, some old folk rhymes or fascinating fairy tales is a direct indication of the hoary age to enjoy the traditionally cultural customs. To be sure, making a travel is of great benefit to learn a country.Furthermore, taking the best advantage of some mediums serves as an effective approach to know a country. Having a browse through a book about their economy, you know their economic patterns, prosperity of their market, even stability of society represented in the eyes of scholars. From their special music and famous movies, you directly attain a sound grasp of a country with disparate values and religious beliefs. Casting of the limit of space and time, you surf t he Internet freely to look though any information about any corner within a click. In summary, mediums play a key role in learning a country. What is also worth noticing is that museums cannot precisely reflect what is a country exactly like. Museums are the places which collect objects of ancient eras like tools and paintings, but history cannot keep pace with development of world nowadays. Furthermore, the resources available in museums are limited in certain aspects. which is difficult to attain a comprehensive understanding towards the country. For example, there in Nanjing, China stand lots of museums recording the shames of Anti-Japanese War.
It has been said, "Not everything that is learned is contained in books." Compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience with knowledge gained from books. In your opinion, which source is more important? Why?
Book Knowledge vs Experience
Knowledge can be acquired from many sources. These include books, teachers and practical experience, and each has its own advantages. The knowledge we gain from books and formal education enables us to learn about things that we have no opportunity to experience in daily life. We can study all the places in the world and learn from people we will never meet in our lifetime, just by reading about them in books. We can also develop our analytical skills and learn how to
view and interpret the world around us in different ways. Furthermore, we can learn from the past by reading books. In this way, we won’t repeat the mistakes of others and can build on their achievements.
Practical experience, on the other hand, can give us more useful knowledge. It is said that one learns best by doing, and I believe
that this is true, whether one is successful or not. In fact, I think making mistakes is the best way to learn. Moreover, if one wants to make new advances, it is necessary to act. Innovations do not come about through reading but through experimentation. Finally, one can apply the skills and insights gained through the study of books to practical experience, making an already meaningful experience more
meaningful. However, unless it is applied to real experiences, book knowledge remains theoretical and, in the end, is useless. That is why I believe that knowledge gained from practical experience is more important than that acquired from books.
