The most impresive building I have ever seen
The most impressive building I have ever seen is Chatel Cathedral .The first time I see it was at History of architecture class on my teacher 's courseware.It looks special because the spire of the building is asymmetric ,which impressed me most .
Chatel Cathedral is located in Earl -the Loire Chartres, France,in the southeast of Paris.It was built in twelfth Century .The architectural style is Gothic.It is one of the four French Gothic church.
Gothic architecture has three distinct characteristics ,which set it apart from Romanesque; pointed arches(尖拱), ribbed vault（骨架券）,
and flying buttresses（飞扶壁）.
These developments allowed the architects to make the church much larger and brighter. By transferring the weight of the ceilings outward thrust to the flying buttresses, they were now able to place huge glass windows in the walls. This allowed the once dim Romanesque Cathedral to be transformed into a very bright and warm feeling Gothic Cathedral. These churches also reflect the wealth and influence of the church in the Middle Ages.
Rose window is also a feature of Gothic style church .Chatel Cathedral has more than 170 stained glass windows.The rose window with blue and purple as the main tuning, regarded as the most perfect typical during 12 to 13th century.
The sculptures of the church are very delicate.
Since 1600,Chatel Cathedral has attracted many pilgrims.Today religionary ceremonies are still held in some Mid-century
churches.Chatel Cathedral is still in an important position in the Mid -century.
