语法点拨情态动词(Modal Verbs)情态动词本身有一定的意义但不完整,因此不能在句子中独立作谓语,只能和动词原形一起构成谓语,即:情态动词+ 动词原形,表示说话人对某一动作或状态的语气或态度。

情态动词通常没有人称和数的变化。

must “必须,应该”,否定式must not表示不许可、不准或禁止。

can 表示能力、许可或可能。

作为情态动词,有时态但无人称变化,否定式是cannot或can’t,过去式是could,过去式的否定式是could not或couldn’t.can表示能力;could用于一般过去时,表示过去的能力-Can you swim? -Yes, I can. / No, I can’t.When I was one years old, I couldn’t walk. Now I can walk.can和could表示许可或请求许可,could语气更委婉客气,may比较正式。
