2020届宁波市鄞州五乡中学高三英语模拟试题及答案解析第一部分阅读(共两节,满分40分)第一节(共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分)阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项ABored with your life? Dreaming of something different? I always wonder what life would be like400 kmabove my head. That's where the International Space Station orbits the earth, with six astronauts living and working on board, for months at a time. How do they sleep? They spend the night floating in a sleeping bag inside a small cubicle (小隔间) on the ceiling. American astronaut Sunita Williams explains, “It's like a little phone booth, but it's pretty comfortable and it doesn't matter if I turn overand sleep upside down. I don't have any sensation (感觉) in my head that tells me I'm upside down.”Brushing your teeth in a place where you can't have a tap or a sink can be a challenge. Can you imagine the mess that running water would make in zero gravity? Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield uses a straw to put a big blob of water from a sealed bag onto an ordinary toothbrush and adds a little toothpaste which he has to swallow when he's done.Daily exercise is essential. The lack of gravity makes bones more fragile and muscles lose strength — so astronauts are encouraged to work out for at least two hours a day.The role of astronauts in the International Space Station is to act as lab technicians for scientists back on earth. So they spend their time maintaining their environment and performing and monitoring experiments in a confined space about the size of a Boeing 747. Almost every task is carefully planned by mission control — although most astronauts spend their first days losing things until they get used to sticking everything they use to the walls with Velcro, duct tape (强力胶带) or clips (夹子).One of their most valued perks (额外待遇) is the view from “the office”, dominated by that gigantic blue ball down there, sitting in the darkness of space. Wow! Absolutely breathtaking!1. When they sleep upside down, the astronauts willnot get dizzy because ________.A. they don't feel itB. they sleep in the daytimeC. they sleep in special sleeping bagsD. they are trained to adapt to the conditions of weightlessness2. What parts become weak if astronauts don't exercise?A. Their teeth and bones.B. Their brains and bones.C. Their bones and muscles.D. Their teeth and muscles.3. What is the passage mainly about?A. The Problems We Met in Space.B. Living and Working in Space.C. How to Become an Astronaut.D. The International Space Station.BOne day when I was 5, my mother criticized me for not finishing my rice and I got angry. I wanted to play outside and not to be made to finish eating my old rice. In my angry motion to open the screen door (纱门) with my foot, I kicked back about a 12-inch part of the lower left hand corner of the new screen door. But I had no regret, for I was happy to be playing in the backyard with my toys.Today, I know if my child had done what I did, I would have criticized my child, and told him about how expensive this new screen door was, and I would have delivered a spanking (打屁股) for it. But my parents never said a word. They left the corner of the screen door pushed out, creating an opening, a crack in the defense against unwanted insects. For years, every time I saw that corner of the screen, it would remind me of my mistake from time to time. For years, I knew that everyone in my family would see that hole and remember who did it. For years, every time I saw a fly buzzing in the kitchen, I would wonder if it came in through the hole that I had created with my angry foot. I would wonder if my family members were thinking the same thing, silently blaming me every time a flying insectentered our home, making life more terrible for us all. My parents taught me a valuable lesson, one that a spanking or stern (严厉的) words perhaps could not deliver. Their silent punishment for what I had done delivered a hundred stern messages to me. Aboveall, it has helped me become a more patient person and not burst out so easily.4. When the author damaged the door, his parents _______.A. scolded him for what he had doneB. left the door unrepairedC. told him how expensive it wasD. gave him a spanking5. How did the author feel every time he saw the damaged door?A. He felt ashamed of his uncontrolled anger at that time.B. He found that his family members no longer liked him.C. The experience may cause the author _______.A. to hide his anger away from othersB. not to go against his parents’ willC. to have a better control of himselfD. not to make mistakes in the future7. What of the following is the main idea of this passage?A. Adults should ignore their children’s bad behavior.B. Parents shouldn’t educate their children.C. What is the best way to become a more patient person?D. Silent punishment may have a better effect on educating people.CLosing your ability to think and remember is pretty frightening. We know the risk of dementia (痴呆症) increases with age. But if you have memory slips you probably needn’t worry. There are pretty clear differences between signs of dementia and age-related memory loss. After age 50, it’s quite common to have trouble remembering the namesof people, places and things quickly, says Dr. Kirk Daffner of Brigham and Women’s Hospital inBoston. The brain ages just like the rest of the body. Certain parts become smaller, especially areas in the brain that are important to learning, memory and planning. Changes in brain cells can affect communication between different regions of the brain. And blood flow can be reduced as blood vessels narrow.Forgetting the name of an actor in a favorite movie, for example, is nothing to worry about. But if you forget the plot of the movie or don’t remember even seeing it, that’s far more concerning, Daffner says. When you forget entire experiences, he says, that’s “a red flag that something more serious may be involved”. Forgetting how to operate a familiar object like a microwave oven, or forgetting how to drive to the house of a friend you’ve visited many times before can also be signs of something going wrongBut even then, Daffner says, people shouldn’t panic. There are many things that can cause confusionandmemory loss, including health problems like temporary stoppage of breathing during sleep, high blood pressure, or depression, as well as medications (药物) like antidepressants. You don’t have to figure this out on your own. Daffner suggests going to your doctor to check on medications, health problems and other issues that could be affecting memory. And the best defense against memory loss is to try to prevent it by building up your brain’s cognitive(认知的) reserve, Daffner says.“Read books, go to movies, take on new hobbies or activities that force one to think in novel ways, ” he says. In other words, keep your brain busy and working. And also get physically active, because exercise is a known brain booster8. Why does the author say that one needn’t be concerned about memory slips?A. Not all of them are related to one’s age.B. Not all of them are symptoms of dementia.C. They occur only among certain groups of people.D. They are quite common among fifty-year-old people.9. Which memory-related symptom should people take seriouslyA. Totally forgetting how to do one’s daily routines.B. Inability to recall details of one’s life experiencesC. Failure to remember the names of movies or actorsD. Occasionally confusing the addresses of one’s friends.10. What should people do when signs of serious memory loss show up?A. Check the brain’s cognitive reserve.B. Stop medications affecting memory.C. Turn to a professional for assistance.D. Exercise to improve their well-being11. What is Dr. Daffner’s advice forfight against memory loss?A. Having regular physical and mental checkups.B. Taking medicine that helps boost one’s brain.C. Engaging in known memory repair activities.D. Staying active both physically and mentallyDImprovements to energy efficiency, such as LED lights, are seen by many authorities as a top priority forcutting carbon emissions. Yet a growing body of research suggests that arebound effect could wipe out more than half of the savings from energy efficiency improvements, making the goals of the Paris Agreement on climate change even harder to hit.A team led by Paul Brockway at the University of Leeds, UK, looked at the existing 33 studies on the impact of the rebound effect. First comes the direct rebound: for instance, when someone buys a more efficient car, they may take advantage of that by driving it further. Then comes the indirect rebound: fuel savings leave the owner with more money to spend elsewhere in the economy, consuming energy.Although the 33 studies used different methods to model the rebound effect, they produced very consistent estimates of its impact, leading the team to conclude that the effect wipes out, on average, 63 percent of the anticipated energy savings.“We're not saying energy efficiency doesn't work. What we're saying is rebound needs to be taken more seriously,” says Brockway. The idea that increased efficiency may not deliver the hopedfor savingsdates back to the Jevons paradox(悖论), named after the economist William Stanley Jevons, who, in 1865,observed that more efficient coal use led to more demand for coal.If the rebound effect does prove to be as big as suggested, it means future global energy demand will be higher than expected and the world will need far more wind and solar power and carboncapture technology than is currently being planned for.But that doesn't mean nothing can be done to limit the rebound effect. One answer is to double down on energy efficiency and do twice as much to achieve the same effect.12. Which of the following is a rebound effect?A. A man uses LED lights to cut carbon emissions.B. A company uses coal more efficiently to reduce waste.C. A family saves money by using energysaving devices.D. A lady spends savings from her fuel efficient car on more clothes.13. How did Paul Brockway's team carry out their research?A. By interviewing economists.B. By analyzing former studies.C. By modeling the rebound effect.D. By debating about the Jevons paradox.14. What would Paul Brockway probably agree with?A. Authorities should dismiss energy efficiency.B. Worldwide efforts to preserve energy are in vain.C. The rebound effect helps protect the environment.D. More attention should be paid to the rebound effect.15. What's the author's attitude towards limiting the rebound effect?A. Positive.B. Pessimistic.C. Doubtful.D. Disapproving.第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。

初中英语作文过渡词衔接词

初中英语作文过渡词衔接词

初中英语作文过渡词衔接词Transition words and conjunctions play a crucial role in creating coherent and well-structured essays. As students progress through middle school, they are often required to write longer and more complex essays, which necessitates the effective use of these linguistic tools. Mastering the art of transitioning between ideas and connecting sentences can significantly improve the overall quality and flow of one's writing. In the context of middle school English essays, transition words and conjunctions serve several important functions. Firstly, they help to establish logical relationships between ideas, guiding the reader through the progression of the essay. Words like "however," "therefore," "in addition," and "on the other hand" signal to the reader how the different components of the essay are related, whether they are contrasting, building upon, or transitioning between concepts. Moreover, transition words and conjunctions contribute to the cohesiveness of the essay by creating smooth connections betweensentences and paragraphs. Without these linguistic devices, the essay would feel disjointed and difficult to follow. By using words like "in fact," "for instance," and "in other words," the writer can seamlessly link ideas and demonstrate the flow of their thought process.Another key function of transition words and conjunctions in middle school English essays is to create variety and sophistication in the writing. Overreliance on simple conjunctions like "and" and "but" can make the essay feel repetitive and lacking in nuance. By incorporating a wider range of transitional expressions, such as "furthermore," "consequently," and "in contrast," the writer can demonstrate their command of the language and their ability to convey complex relationships between ideas.Furthermore, the strategic placement of transition words and conjunctions can help to emphasize the structure and organization of the essay. For example, using "first," "second," and "finally" can clearly delineate the main points or steps in an argument, making it easier for the reader to follow the writer's line of reasoning. Similarly, words like "in conclusion" and "in summary" can effectively signal the end of the essay and provide a sense of closure. It is important to note that the use of transition words and conjunctions should not be overdone, as excessive or inappropriate usage can disrupt the natural flow of the writing and make the essayfeel contrived. The key is to strike a balance, using these linguistic tools judiciously and in a way that enhances the overall clarity and coherence of the essay. In the context of middle school English essays, students should be encouraged to experiment with a variety of transition words and conjunctions, gradually expanding their repertoire and developing a more nuanced understanding of how these elements can be used effectively. This process can be supported through targeted instruction, practice exercises, and feedback from teachers.By mastering the use of transition words and conjunctions, middle school students can elevate the quality of their English essays, demonstrating their ability to organize their thoughts, connect ideas, and guide the reader through the progression of their argument. This skill not only serves them well in academic writing but also lays the foundation for more advanced communication and critical thinking skills that will be essential as they continue their educational journey.。

初中英语作文中的过渡词

初中英语作文中的过渡词

初中英语作文中的过渡词Transition words play a crucial role in middle school English compositions, serving as the glue that binds ideas together and guides the reader through the flow of the written work. These small but powerful words and phrases are essential for creating a cohesive and coherent piece of writing, ensuring that the ideas presented flow logically and smoothly from one to the next.In the context of middle school English compositions, transition words are particularly important as students begin to develop more complex writing skills. As they move beyond the simple sentence structures and basic paragraph organization of their early years, the use of transition words becomes increasingly vital in helping them communicate their thoughts and ideas effectively. One of the primary functions of transition words in middle school English compositions is to establish relationships between ideas. These words and phrases can indicate a variety of relationships, such as cause and effect, comparison and contrast, addition, and sequence. By using the appropriate transition words, students canclearly convey the connections between their thoughts, making it easier for the reader to follow the flow of the essay. For example, consider the following two sentences without any transition words:The weather was sunny today. I decided to go for a walk. While these sentences convey related information, the lack of a transition word makes the connection between them less clear. By adding a transition word, the relationship becomes more evident:The weather was sunny today. Therefore, I decided to go for a walk.In this case, the transition word "therefore" indicates a cause-and-effect relationship, making it clear that the sunny weather led to the decision to go for a walk.Similarly, transition words can be used to compare and contrast ideas:Hiking is a great way to exercise. In contrast, running is a more intense workout. Here, the transition word "in contrast" signals that the secondsentence is presenting a different perspective on the topic of exercise.Transition words can also be used to introduce additional information or ideas:I enjoy hiking because it allows me to connect with nature. Moreover, it is a great way to relieve stress. The transition word "moreover" in this example indicates that the second sentence is adding a further benefit to the first. In middle school English compositions, the effective use of transition words can significantly improve the overall quality and coherence of the writing. Students who are able to seamlessly incorporate these words and phrases into their essays demonstrate a stronger grasp of the language and a greater understanding of how to structure their thoughts in a clear and logical manner.Furthermore, the use of transition words can also help students develop their writing style and voice. By selecting the appropriate transition words, students can convey different tones and attitudes, ranging from formal and academic to more casual and conversational. This flexibility allows them to tailor their writing to the specific requirements of the assignment and the audience theyare addressing. It is important to note, however, that the overuse of transition words can also be problematic. Students should be mindful of using them judiciously and only when they genuinely serve to enhance the flow and clarity of the writing. Excessive or inappropriate use of transition words can make the writing sound stilted or artificial, detracting from the overall quality and effectiveness of the composition. To ensure the effective use of transition words in middle school English compositions, students should be encouraged to familiarize themselves with a wide range of these words and phrases, and to practice incorporating them into their writing in a natural and organic way. This can be achieved through targeted instruction, examples, and opportunities for guided practice and feedback.Additionally, students should be encouraged to read a variety of high-quality writing samples, both in their English classes and in their personal reading, to observe how professional writers utilize transition words to create cohesive and compelling narratives. By studying these models, students can gain a deeper understanding of how transition words function and how to apply them effectively in their own writing. In conclusion, transition words are a crucial component of middleschool English compositions, serving as the bridges that connect ideas and guide the reader through the flow of the written work. By mastering the use of these words and phrases, students can significantly improve the clarity, coherence, and overall quality of their writing, positioning themselves for success in their academic pursuits and beyond.。

“启”就是开头, “承”是承接,“转”是转折,“合”是综合或总结。

(1)用于“启”的过渡词语用于表示“启”的过渡词或过渡性的语句通常用在段落或文章的开头:first, first of all, at first, in the first place, firstly, to being with, to start with, recently, now, at present, in recent years, in general, generally speaking, at present, lately, currently, It is often said that…,As the proverb says…,It goes without saying that…,It is clear/obvious that…,Many people often ask …(2)用于“承”的过渡词语表示“承”的过渡词或过渡性的语句通常用在段落中的第一个扩展句中:second, similarly, in addition, besides, then, furthermore, moreover, what is more, what is worse, for example, for instance, certainly, surely, obviously, in other words, especially, particularly, in particular, indeed, still, third, truly, in fact, at the same time, no doubt,It is true that…,Everybody knows that…,It can be easily proved that…,No one can deny that…The reason why …is that …,There is no doubt that…,To take…for an example (instance) …,We know that…,What is more serious is that…(3)用于“转”的过渡词语用于“转”的过渡词或过渡性的语句通常用在段落中的第二个扩展句中:but, however, on the other hand, on the contrary, in contrast, in any case, at any rate(无论如何), nevertheless(虽然如此), otherwise, or, or else, while, whereas, but, despite, in spite of ..., yet, instead,I do not believe that…,Perhaps you’ll ask why…This may be true, but we still have a problem with regard to…,Though we are in basic agreement with …, yet differences will be found,That’s why I feel that…(4)用于“合”的过渡词语用于“合”的过渡词或过渡性的语句通常用在段落的结论句或文章的结论段中:in a word, in general, in short, above all, after all, generally speaking,to sum up, finally, in conclusion, at last, in summary, therefore, as a result, above all, thus, after all(毕竟), eventually, hence, in short, in conclusion, in a word, in sum(总之), on the whole(就整体而言), to sum up From this point of view …On account of this we can find that …The result is dependent on …Thus, this is the reason why we must…二、过渡词的应用有的学生在作文中使用过多简单句,成了简单句堆砌;有的写复杂句时,动辄用so,and, then, but,or,however, yet等非但达不到丰富表达方式的目的,反而使句子结构松散、呆板。

为了避免这种现象,可以通过使用不同的过渡词,不仅能够丰富句型,而且还能够把思想表达得更清楚,意义更连贯。

例如:1. 学生习作TV and websiteTV and website are popular media. They have something in common. Both of them make money from ads. Websites also have different sections. You may choose the one you are most interested in.They are different in many ways. Moving pictures are shown on TV with sound and interpretation. It makes you feel that you are just on the spot. The programs change every day. Professional TV reporters do the report for TV.Some information on websites change all the time. Not all of it is so updated. Everybody can write articles for websites rather than professional reporter.Every medium has its own features. It is hard to say which is better.这段文字用简单句表达,它们之间内在的逻辑关系含糊不清,意思支离破碎。
