Part I Reading Comprehension (24 points)Directions:There are 3 passages in this part. Each passage is followed by some questions or unfinished statements. For each of them there are four choices marked A), B), C) and D). You should decide on the best choice and mark the corresponding letter on the Answer Sheet with a single line through the center.Questions 1 to 4 are based on the following passage. It was an early September day, cool and bright and just right for running, and I was in the first few miles of a lO-knownmile race over a course with a few high hills. Still, I felt energetic; despite the hills it was going to be a fine run.Just ahead of me was Peggy Mimno, a teacher from Mount Kiseo, New York. She too was running easily, moving along at my speed. The pace felt comfortable, so I decided to stay where I was; why pay attention to pace when she was setting such a nice one? I'd overtake(追上) her later on when she tired. So I ran behind her. The course headed north for miles, wandered west for a hilly mile, then turned south again along a winding road. The race was getting harder. We had four miles left and already it was beginning to be real work.Peggy overtook a young runner. She seemed to know him, for they exchanged a few cheerful words as she passed him. Their exchange worried me. You don't chat during a race unless you feeling good, and Peggy plainly was.Still, I was close enough to overtake her if she tired, so I didn't give up hope completely. We were getting nearer to a long, punishing hill now and it would be the test. We were a mile from the finish line, so whatever happened on the hill would almost determine who crossed it first. As I moved up the hill, my attention wandered for a few minutes. When I looked up, Peggy was moving away--first five yards, then ten, then more. Finally it was clear that there was no help of catching her. She beat me soundly. There is an important lesson in that race. Women are thought to be weaker, slower and not nearly as skilled in sport. Yet as Peggy Mimno so clearly showed, the similarities between men and women runners are more important than differences. I have run with a number of women, andI can say it is often hard work.1. What did the writer think of the race in the beginning?A. It would be hard work.B. It would be an easy race.C. It would be a test of his strength.D. It would be a good learning experience.2. What worried the writer when Peggy greeted the young runner?A. Peggy overtook the young runner.B. Peggy was running energetically.C. Peggy was laughing as the writer.D. Peggy paid no attention to the writer.3. By saying "a long, punishing hill" (paragraph 5 ), the writer implies that _____________ .A. Peggy would fail to reach the hilltopB. men are more skilled at climbing hillsC. overtaking Peggy would be easyD. climbing the hill would be a demanding task4. What lesson does the writer learn from the race?A. Women are as good as men in sport.B. Women are better at climbing hills.C. He should have more training in a cross-country race.D. He should set a quicker pace at the beginning of a race.Questions 5 to 8 are based on the following passage.Though war is something people hate, Director Feng Xiaogang often exposes his audience to it. “If we don’t impress the audience, who are without the painful experience of war, with the cruel injury to life and human nature war causes, how can we bring them a love of peace and objection to war?” asked the director with anger in his eyes. After Red River Valley and Lover’s Grief over the Yellow River, both of which star Chinese model and actress Ning Jing, Feng drew a satisfactory full stop to his war trilogy last month with Purple Sunset. The film tells a story which took place in 1945, at the very moment when World War II was drawing to and end. A Chinese peasant and a Soviet woman soldier flee into a forest, where they seize a Japanese girl. They follow the girl in the hope that she will take them out of the forest, but instead they arrive in a Japanese base. Humanity (仁慈)prevents them from killing the young, innocent victim of Japanese militarism(军国主义). This humanity, the longing for peace and eagerness to survive, make the three unite.“If people are touched by justice, tolerance and unselfishness, I think I have achieved my goal,” Feng said. Feng admits that there are violent and bloody scenes in the film, such as tanksfighting and Japanese burning Chinese people alive, to show t he cruelty of war. But that’s never his personal preference, he says. “Everyone who has watched my films can tell how much I detest war, “he said, “I wrote all the things for my war films by myself. Whenever I finished one, I felt as though I had suffered great pain.”Feng regards every one of his productions as an opportunity to learn about human nature and humanity. In spite of violent scenes which frighten and sicken the audience, a balance is sought with beautiful scenery. Just like the snowy mountains in Red River Valley and the grand plateau in Lover’s Grief over the Yellow River, a beautiful vast grassland appears in this film. “I used to study art and I appreciate beautiful things,” Feng said. “I believe that films should offer the audience a chance to enjoy beauty.”5. Director Feng Xiaogang shot war film because_________.A. he was deeply interested in such a topicB. he wanted to give the audience the painful experience of warC. he hoped to arouse people’s love of peace and objection to warD. he dreamed of becoming a world-famous director6. A Chinese peasant and a Soviet woman soldier seized a Japanese girl so that_____.A. they could find the Japanese base easilyB. she could take them out of the forestC. they could kill her for revenge(报复)D. it would cause the Japanese militarism to give in7.Scenes of Japanese burning Chinese people alive in the film are to ______.A. show that war is cruelB. attract people’s interestC. show Feng’s personal p reference and interestD. make the film moving and interesting8.The underlined word “detest” in this passage refers to ________.A. hateB. likeC. fleeD. know aboutQuestions 9 to 12 are based on the following passageYou must be at the examination center ten minutes before the examination starts. 10Chinese calligraphy is a unique art and the unique art treasure in the world. The formation and development of the Chinese calligraphy is closely related to the emergence and evolution of Chinese characters. In this long evolutionary process, Chinese characters have not only played an important role in exchanging ideas and transmitting culture but also developed into a unique art form. Calligraphic works well reflect calligraphers' personal feelings, knowledge, self-cultivation, personality, and so forth, thus there is an expression that "seeing the calligrapher's handwriting is like seeing the person". As one of the treasures of Chinese culture, Chinese calligraphy shines splendidly in the world's treasure house of culture and art.补充翻译:Although many students seem allergic to English and always get lost in English learning, they still feel obliged to learn it well. Then how can teachers make students’ journey of English learning enjoyable? Effective, precise, and beneficial communication depends upon grammar and a good vocabulary. Thus, for the students with language deficit and should learn from scratch, it does make sense to teach them the essential framework of language, accurate grammar and proper vocabulary. Learning grammar and a good vocabulary is just like driving with a road map in a well-conditioned car. One should often study the road map (check grammar) and tune up the car engine (adjust vocabulary). Equipped with these two essential assets, students will surely become attached to English and have excellent control in their journey of English learning.Text B2 1.D 2.A 3.C 4.A 5.C 6.B 7.C D4 1.mysterious 2.desperate 3.devise 4.negotiate 5.recalled 6.specifically 7.depict 8.ignorance 9.expand 10.confusion5 1.apply to 2.in a bid to 3.end up 4.Speaking of 5.get hold of 6.appealed to7.Leaving… behind 8.focus on8 1.essential framework 2.proper vocabulary 3.excellent control nguage deficit 5.high standards nguage proficiency 7.acquire knowledge petent communication 9.overcome deficiencies 10.sketch thoughts 11.effective communication 12.advanced vocabularyText A3 1.promotes 2.accelerate 3.mystery 4.insight 5.boost 6.analysis 7.calculate 8.barriers 9.destruction 10.protest5 1.excess 2.bearing 3.objective 4.intensify 5.execute 6.promising 7.exclude 8. identity 9. offend 10.housing6 1.C 2. restaurant . in fact , learningto use chopsticks takes me afew weeks . this is not to say i was skillful , though . learning how to use chopsticks is easy for me , learning the rituals and how to myself at the table is quite difficult . times do i have to say “no , thank you” i really mean “no, thank you , i truly am full”? how do i get away with refusing more food without someone ? if i insist and i still get more , is it appropriate justnot to eat it ?this would be where i come from .i have enjoyed many great meals and my with the people have been great . i am aware that i will never be able to as much as i have received . i don’t know how i can ever thank all of the people who introduced me to eating in asia.unit 2this was what all of the training and pain was iwatched the young runner enter to the cheers of thousands of people, i could not help of the pains that he had gone throughin his training .the young runner was hardly considered to be when he first came to me . there were countless training full of pain for him .i had seen fatigue written on his face . i had heard him at me . i had been to his anger and pain . it was clear that only hardwork could him success . i had smiled to myself when i found that he had too much to give up . and he would with thetraining until he reached perfection . i had never forgot toremind him that the challenges he had to keep on practice . it was unfair that he had no time for his girlfriend . but that waslife for him !the thunderous shouts and cheers drew me back to the tv screen . oh , my dear , the young runner was speed . he was running to the finish line . he was strong enough to other runners . his courage , heart and discipline together with his years of practice won him the honor . tears rolled down my cheeks when i found on the screen the young runner was looking around . i understood at once that he was looking for me . for years, he had become so my presence , success or accomplish without its power . so often we take good care of our needs .we make sure our bodies are fed , cleaned , clothed , exercised and rested . however , we tend to the most important need -----love . of course , as a society , love is not overlooked . popular media constantly places great emphasis what we need to doto attract “love”. being loved is not as powerful an emoti onal need as that desire to love someone else .the need to love and others is built into us biologically . this need is allows parents to give up sleep and food while raising their children . this need is what allows people to put themselves to save others from natural or threats .love means to cherish , hold dear , and treasure . we do not hurt , harm , or cause pain to those we love; rather , we seek to their suffering . it’s not about wanting to possess or control others ; it’s about wanting to s et them free . love is the power allows the wheel of life to continue turning , for when we love we look our own needs and desires . we our time , our energy , our wishes , and sometimes even ourselves because of love . it is love that allows emergency services personnel to face danger . it is love that allows soldiers to everything . the ultimate definition of love is not about feeling good about doing good .unit5“knock it off !” billy would not banging his foot on the table . mrs . stewart had lost billy had this . he just his mom’s expression s like these . he banged on without a pause .mrs. stewart seems to understand that she shouts she can’t expect billy to respond immediately . but she different if you had been given a different name at your birth . some of us that our name does not necessarily fit and start using a different name the one we were given . many of us use our middle name so we can be true to our parents, and at the same time be more confident . some people who have changed their name that their professional lives improved . they feel better about themselves so they are to achieve more . but those who have changed their names are not just being overly sensitive . names themselves some information causing others to make judgments based solely them .here is an example: a magazineto print a writer’s name simply because the editor thought it suited a baseball player an art critic . another example :a woman at a party became when she wanted to be introduced to a man she had declined because of his name. one study showed that teachers give different grades to the essayswri tten by boys with different names . , girls’ popularity can be related to their names .yet , which name works and which does not depend on the times . the good qualities of a well-liked president or actor can often influencea name is seen . but if a name becomes toowell-known , it probably it to financial stress . my company was cutting jobs and they were each worker’s performance .this was in those days of rising competition and companies. the companies were getting smaller because of the economic conditions. i knew i was being considered as one of the workers they would let go though i had been overworking. or maybe it was my home life .my wife and i had gotten in an and my 19-year-old daughter announced that she was leaving the house to move in with her boyfriend. i am usually not a person of quick , but yesterday was different. i rode my bike to work ;it’s about 20 kilometers. i had stopped for a red light and then when the light turned green. i had the car coming from my right would stop, it went right on through the red light and hit me . i had time to react. i grabbed my bike lock and threw it at his car, hitting his rear window and making a crack.the driver stopped and got out of the car. i laid my bike down and picked up the bike lock from the ground for .then he reached for his phone to call the police.unit8it is strange that some people tell us the economy is bad and the job market is changing for the worse , especially for young people . this me. from my the world has never seen so many opportunities for young people exiting college .trends toward specialized careers and lower salaries leave economists and sociologists that the next generation ofemployees will be to roles that are too narrow and thus not enough . many say corporations are taking of the labor force . , no one is forcing our youth into such . if a rewarding job does not in the current system , they’ll have to it for themselves .the internet has already answered students’ cries for more possibilities . the next breakthrough to create something truly creative is to happen anytime now . at the same time let’s that students are prepared for the day when their chances are coming .by telling our young people everything has already been done and that there is nothing left to dream about , we are them of the opportunity to create a system that is new and exciting , outside the confines of what is imaginable .but then again , maybe i’m wrong . maybe i shouldn’t about our youth at all . their ability to what is before them and defy our unnecessary worries is their greatest strength . maybe by telling them they can’t , we are encouraging them to create something truly incredible .all in all , the future for the young people is not gloomy; ,it is promising .unit9journalists play a very important part in the way we see the world around us . it the globe are looking for themost thrilling stories focusing on the stories that are the most important . news has become a form of entertainment an accurate source of information . it used to be that we couldour news media to find information we are interested in , but many media organizations have owners who have political , and many reporters even receive wages from political groups . , we cannot expect the truth from such journalists .another problem is that any person or organization can information on the internet without considering whether it is true . it has become a real to find information that has beenput out in such manners . good reporting has become unusual indeed.unit10in the summer of 1940, the german air force attempted to win air advantage southern britain and the english channel by the royal air force (raf) and the british aircraft industry . this came to be known the battle of britain . the germans had belgium and the netherlands in may 1940 , using the lightning war technique that largely close coordination between ground troops and the air force . although the air force proved in this role , it was not for the longer-range operations that became part of the battle of britain.it is widely believed that had the germans succeeded in their aim of destroying the raf, they able to invade britain relatively easily . this was , ,at a time when the country was the only european power resisting nazi germany , she did enjoy great support from her partners .although the fear of a german invasion was real , it was perhaps unfounded . when planning the air attacks the germans made the mistake of regarding the english channel a relatively minor obstacle, a wide river crossing . ,even if hitler had achieved his aim of destroying the raf, germany might still have failed to establish a foothold , because the british royal navy was enormously strong . there was nothing to stop them from withdrawing their aircraft out of of the german fighters.【篇二:新视野大学英语视听说教程2答案第二版完整答案】ss=txt>完整答案unit 1 roll over, beethoven!ii listening skills1-5: b b d c aiii listening intask 1: 1-5: f t f t ftask 2: 1-5: b b d a ctask 3: 1-5: classical, Let’s TalkThe Origin of the Song “Happy Birthday to You”The story of the song “Happy Birthday to You” Began as a sweet one, but later became bitter. Two sisters, Mildred Hill, a teacher at a kindergarten, and Dr. Patty Hill, the principal of the same school, wrote a song together for the children, entitled “Good Morning to All”. When Mildred combined her musical talents with her sister’s knowledge in the area of kindergarten education, ‘Good Morning to All” was sure to be a success. The sister published the song in a collection entitled “Song Stories of the Kindergarten” in 1893. Thirty-one years later, after Dr. Patty Hill became the head of the Department of Kindergarten Education at Columbia University’s Teachers College, a gentleman by the name Robert Coleman published the song, without the sisters’ permission. He added a second part, which is the familiar “Happy Birthday to You”. Mr. Coleman’s addition of the second part made the song popular and, finally, the sisters” original first part disappeared. “Happy Birthday to You” had altogether replaced the sisters’ original song “Good Morning to All”. In 1916 Patty took legal action against Mr. Coleman. In court, she succeeded in proving that hey were the real owners of the song.1. Good Morning to All2.。

新视野大学英语(第三版)第二册读写教程、视听说教程全部答案+教案(Units1-7)New Horizon College EnglishBOOK 2(3rd Edition)Unit 1 Text AEx.1 Understanding the text1、Because he is tired of listening to his father and he is not interested in grammar rules.2、The civilization of Greece and the glory of Roman architecture are so marvelous and remarkable that they should be described at least in a brief account; however, what the student could do was only one single ut terance :“whoa!” without any any specific comment.3、Because the schools fail to set high standards of language proficiency. They only teach a little grammar and less advanced vocabulary. And the younger teachers themselves have little knowledge of the vital structures of language.4、Because teaching grammar is not an easy job and most of the students will easily get bored if it’s not properly dealt with.5、He familiarized his son with different parts of speech in a sentence and discussed their specific grammatical functions including how to use adverbs to describe verbs.6、Because the son had never heard about the various names and functions of words in an English sentence before.7、The author uses “road map”and “car”to describe grammar and vocabulary. Here,“road map”is considered as grammar and “car”as vocabulary.8、Since the subjunctive mood his son used is a fairly advanced grammar structure, the interjection“whoa!”reflects the tremendous pride the father had toward his son; it also reflects the author’s humor in using the word because it was once used by his student, though in two different situations and with two different feelings.Ex.3 Words in use1.condense2.exceed3.deficit4.exposure5.asset6.adequate/doc/694713736.html,petent8.adjusting9.precisely 10.beneficialEx.4 Word building-al/-ial:managerial/editorial/substance/survival/tradition/margin -cy : consistency/accuracy/efficient-y : recovery/ministry/assemblyEx.5 Word building1.editorial2.recovery3.accuracy4.substance5.managerial6.margin7.assembly8.Ministry9.survival 10.tradition 11.consistency 12.efficientEx.6 Banked cloze1-5: L C J A I 6-10: O N E H FEx.7 Expressions in use1.feel obliged to2.be serious about3.run into4.distinguish between5.thrust upon6.was allergic to7.get lost8.be attracted to9.make sense 10.looked upon asEx.8 Structured writingSome bookworms in my dormitory often spend hours reading their “Bible”, Practical English Grammar, and do a lot of exercises in that book , but I don’t ca re about it at all. My assumption is since I have never learned Chinese grammar, what’s the sense of learning English grammar? In fact, English grammar has always been a big headache to me.English grammar is very complicated because, unlike Chinese, there are many verb tenses. Even stranger than verb tenses, English grammar also contains something very confusing. For example, I don’t remember how many times my middle school teacher tried to“impose”the differences between used to and be used to on us. Sometimes he would go on with the explanation for 20 minutes or so. He even summarized the differences by listing three or four points for us to memorize. However, they could never stay in my head . I don’t remember how many times I got it wrong with the sentences containingused to or be used to on my exams . I was really confused with these two phrases, and I can never get them right. In brief, I’m allergic to learning English grammar. Curiously, I just wonder if the native speakers of English have a microcomputer in their brain to help them utter the two phrases promptly with just a click of their brain mouse!Ex.9 E-C Translation人们普遍认为英语是一种世界语言,经常被许多不以英语为第一语言的国家使用。

As president of the company, however, it is my responsibility to tell them that this is not acceptable. Whereas2 in some other countries attending meetings is not considered very important, in this country, and especially in this company, meetings must be attended on time.
