They worry because they can’t remember words. In fact, the problem usually isn’t with their memory. The problem is with how they study. To remember words better, you need to understand how memory works. There are two kinds of memory: short-term and long-term. When you see, hear,or read something,it goes first into short-term memory. But short-term memory lasts for only a few seconds. You will only remember something longer if it goes into long-term memory. Your long-term memory is like a very big library with many, many books. And like a library,it’s organized(有条理的). When you putaway a book-or memory-you can’t just leave it anywhere. You have to choose a place where you can find it again. How can you do this with vocabulary? The answer is to work with the word and think about the word in new ways. You can do this by writing new sentences that include it. Even better, you can invent a little story about the word, with people or places that you know. Another way is to make a picture in your mind with the word. For example,if the word is height, you can think of the tallest person you know and try to guess his or her height. All of these activities are good ways to think about words. They make the meaning of words stronger in your long-term memory. And they give a way to find a word when you need it.1. The dishes are pretty tasty. And as for choices, at the school I went to last year there were never more than two lunch options each day. Sometimes there was only one! However, I don’t want anyone to think that I have a negative opinion of the Wilson students. Actually, I have been impressed with how involved the students here are. My family would spend hours and hours watching it on television while I angrily waited for it to end. Every game seemed the same. Yes, one team won and the other one lost, but it was always the same game—some men pitching a ball, some running back and forth. Then something happened. We played on the street, in the backyard—even on the tops of buildings, believe it or not!I can recall so clearly the sounds of the ball hitting the bat and the quick running feet. I can still feel the sun on my face as I played and the bruises and scratches from falling down. During the twentieth century there has b een a remarkable shortening of the proportion of a woman’s life spent in caring for children. A woman marrying at the end of the nineteenth century world probably have been in her middle twenties, and would be likely to have seven or eight children, of whom four or five lived till they were five years old. By the time the youngest was fifteen, the mother would have been in her early fifties and would expect to live a further twenty years, during which custom, opportunity and health made it unusual for her to get paid work. Today women marry younger and have fewer children. Usually a woman’s youngest child will be fifteen when she is forty-five and can be expected to live another thirty-five years and is likely to take paid work until retirement at sixty. Even while she has the care of children, her work is lightened by household appliances and convenience foods. The important change in women’s life-pattern has only recently begun to have its full effect on women’s economic position. Even a few years ago m ost girls left school at the first opportunity, and most of them took a full-time job. However, when they married, they usually left work at once and never returned to it. Today the school-leaving age is sixteen, many girls stay at work at least until shortly before their first child is born. Very many more afterwards return to full or part-time work. Such changes have led to a new relationship in marriage, withboth husband and wife sharing more equally in providing the money, and running the home, according to the abilities and interests of each of them.A 46. For women at the beginning of the twentieth century, the amount of time spent taking careof children ________.A) was shorter than in previous centuriesB) was longer than in previous centuriesC) was considered to be surprisingly longD) account for a great part of their livesA 47. According to the passage, around the year 1900 most women married ________.A) at about twenty-fiveB) in their early fiftiesC) as soon as possible after they were fifteenD) at any age from fifteen to forty-fiveD 48. When she was over fifty, the late nineteenth-century mother ________.A) would be healthy enough to take up paid employmentB) was usually expected to die fairly soonC) would expect to work until she diedD) was unlikely to find a job even if she wanted oneA 49. One reason why the woman of today may take a job is that she ________.A) is younger when her children are old enough to look after themselvesB) does not like children herselfC) need not worry about food for her childrenD) can retire from family responsibilities when she reaches sixtyC 50. According to the passage, it is now quite usual for women to ________.A) stay at home after leaving schoolB) marry men younger than themselvesC) start working again later in lifeD) marry while still at schoolIV. A cup of cocoa before going to bed or a Mars bar on the bus – the British are obsessed with it. The average Briton eats 10kg of chocolate a year. Women eat far more chocolate than men, an amazing 67% of total chocolate consumption. And the most popular snack is KitKat – fifty are eaten every second in the UK.Chocoholics are people with a chocolate obsession. But are they addicts? Not according to recent research. This shows that chocolate is not as addictive as coffee – in fact, there is no proof that chocolate creates addiction at all. And it’s a lot better for you than we thought. Some scientists say that it releases the same chemicals that your body produces when you are in love. Now that can’t be a bad thing! Some more good news –it doesn’t raise your cholesterol level or give you acne, as people believe, and it can even be good for your teeth! It does, however, contain caffeine and is bad if you get headaches. So the least sensible time to eat it is at night. The British lo ve chocolate but they are not as obsessed as the Swiss. The Swiss are officially the world’ greatest chocolate eaters – but then Swiss chocolate is the best!1Women buy less chocolate than men.2There is evidence that chocolate is addictive.3Chocolate contains caffeine.4You should avoid chocolate if you suffer from migraines.5The world’s greatest chocolate eaters are the British.Key: FFTTF5.From: U8L3 P121Found Safe and SoundThe monkey who escaped from Bristol Zoo last weekend was discovered by school children yesterday. Lucy loves new technology. She owns a games console, an MP3 player, and a mobile phone with a built-in digital camera. David is a teacher. Lucy is his student.Like Lucy, many children grow up using computers almost every day and often know more about technology than adults. Educator Marc Prensky calls children like Lucy “digital natives”. Digital natives can quickly learn how to use new gadgets and new software, while non-digital natives spend a lot of time reading manuals and worrying about computer viruses. In fact, many parents try to save time by asking their children to teach them how to use new technology! The divide between digital natives and non-digital natives can cause problems at school because students and teachers grow up with very different ideas about technology. Many teachers think that playing computer games is a waste of time and that technology has made children unable to concentrate. However, many students think their classes are slow and boring, and want to use computers to study.Prensky believes that digital natives have learned a lot from technology, but that they learn things in a different way. For example, reading a website is different from reading a book, so digital natives are good at finding the information they need and choosing what they want to read. So perhaps teachers need to change the way they teach and use more technology in class – because the number of digital natives will keep increasing!1 David is a digital native.2 Marc Prensky is interested in teaching with technology.3 Digital natives are comfortable using laptops and flash drives.4 Many teachers think computer games are only for having fun or killing time.5 People read books and websites in the same way.Key: FTTTF7.From: U10L2 P153SpanglishIn which city can you read signs like “Aparca your car aquí” or “Cuidado con los pickpockets”? The New York Times recently said that it had become the city’s third official language. Its use is colloquial and often limited to short sentences and signs. 山东成人本科学位英语考试真题2024全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1The Shandong Adult Undergraduate Degree English Exam 2024Wow, can you believe it's already 2024? Time sure flies by quickly! This year my big sister is taking a really important English test called the Shandong Adult Undergraduate Degree English Exam. It's a huge deal for her because she's been studying so hard to get her bachelor's degree as an adult student. She's been taking night classes and weekend courses for years now while also working full-time at her job during the day.I don't know how she finds the time and energy for everything! I can barely stay awake for my own homework after getting home from school. But my sister is super dedicated and focused on getting her degree no matter what it takes. From what I understand, the Shandong Adult Undergraduate Degree English Exam tests how well you know the English language. It covers reading, writing, listening, andspeaking - all the key skills you need to really master English. My sister has been drilling vocabulary words, reading English novels, listening to podcasts, and practicing conversations for months now.I overheard her on the phone with one of her classmates talking about how there are different sections on the exam. One part tests how well you can understand English passages by asking comprehension questions about the main ideas and details. Another section has you write an essay or article on a certain topic to show your English writing abilities. There's also a listening portion where you hear recordings of conversations or lectures and have to answer questions about what was said. My sister said the speaking section is one of the hardest parts - you have to respond to questions and prompts by speaking out loud in clear, fluent English. No pressure at all, right?I tried practicing some basic English conversations with her and I don't know how she manages to speak so naturally and fluidly. I always get tongue-tied or mixed up after a few sentences. She's basically fluent at this point after studying English for so long.I'm really proud of my sister for persevering and sticking with her studies for all these years. She had to put her bachelor's degree on hold for a while after having me and my little brother. But now that we're older, she's been able to go back to school while still taking care of us and working her job. Talk about superwoman! The exam is supposed to be really hard since it tests your English at a true university level. My sister has told me plenty of people fail it the first time and have to retake it. But she is determined to pass on her first try this year. She's been doing practice tests, getting tutoring, anything she can to prepare.Part of me envies how focused and driven she is. But another part of me is exhausted just watching her go through all this studying and prep work! I'll be really relieved for her when this exam is finally over. Maybe then she can relax and take a break...yeah, right! Knowing my sister, she'll probably just start studying for the next challenge.I'm crossing my fingers that all her hard work pays off and she aces the Shandong Adult Undergraduate Degree English Exam. She's sacrificed so much family time and sleep to get ready. I think she deserves to pass with flying colors. Thenhopefully she'll be one big step closer to achieving her dream of getting that bachelor's degree!I probably sound a little biased because she's my awesome big sis. But I have witnessed firsthand how intensely she has prepped and how skilled she has become at English. I may only be in elementary school, but I can already tell my sister has the English abilities of someone who completed university. She just needs that certificate to prove it.No matter what happens though, I'm proud of her for trying her absolute best and being an inspiration. Shoot, now I'm feeling motivated to start studying hard for my future too! Thanks a lot, sis. Haha just kidding, I'll always look up to her drive and determination. I know the Shandong exam will just be another monumental achievement she can add to her list.So let's all send her positive vibes and spirit for test day 2024! You've got this, sis. Your English skills are going to shine bright like a diamond. Knock that exam out of the park and walk away a champion!篇2The Big Grown-Up Test for CollegeWow, you guys won't believe what my older cousin Jia had to do last week! She's already finished high school, but she still had to take this massive test to try and get into a university. It's called the Shandong Adult Undergraduate English Exam and it sounded super duper hard.Jia has been studying English ever since she was a little kid, just like me. But this test had reading, writing, listening, speaking - all kinds of tough English stuff crammed into one giant exam! I can't even imagine having to write a whole essay in English. That would take me forever with all the weird grammar rules. The reading section had all these long, boring passages about science, history, culture and other snooze-fest topics. Jia said she had to read them carefully and then answer detailed questions proving she understood everything. As if reading wasn't already hard enough! My brain would have melted after the first few paragraphs. Then there was the listening part where they played recordings of conversations, lectures, and who knows what else. Jia had to listen super closely and answer questions, all while trying not to zone out. I've seen those kinds of recordings before and the people talk so fast! How is anyone supposed to catch everything they say?But as difficult as the reading and listening sections were, Jia said the writing section might have been the worst. She had to write a whole essay in perfect English about some philosophical topic I can't even pronounce. Having to organize all her thoughts into clear paragraphs with topic sentences and supporting details and conclusions? No thank you!And if that weren't enough, Jia also had to pass a speaking section where she had to have an actual conversation in English with a test grader. She had to describe pictures, answer questions, and explain her opinions, all without making any mistakes. Just thinking about it makes me want to run and hide!Jia studied so hard for months working practice tests and drilling vocabulary. She said the exam lasted almost an entire day and she came out exhausted. Even though she's much older than me, I still felt bad that she had to go through something so difficult and stressful.I really hope Jia passed and gets to go to her dream school! Part of me is proud of her for pushing herself and working so hard. But another part thinks perhaps I shouldn't learn English after all so I'll never have to take a crazy difficult test like that. For now, I'm sticking to ABC's and simple words like "cat" and "ball." Maybe I'll reconsider once I'm a grown-up...in about 20 years!篇3The Super Awesome Shandong Grown-Up English TestHey guys! My name is Xiaoming and I'm 8 years old. I go to Sunshine Elementary School in Jinan, the capital city of Shandong Province. Today I want to tell you all about the super cool Shandong Adult Undergraduate English Examination that happened in 2024!My mom took this test because she's been going to night school to get her bachelor's degree. She studied sooooo hard for months, reading big fat English books and doing practice tests. I tried to help her practice speaking English, but she said my Shandong accent was too strong and I used way too much Shandonghua! The test happened on a Saturday in June 2024. My dad took me and my little sister to the exam site at Shandong University to cheer mom on. There were like a bajillion grown-ups there, all looking very nervous. The test was split into two parts - listening, reading and writing in the morning, then speaking in the afternoon. For the first part, my mom said they had to listen to recordings and answer multiple choice questions testing theirlistening skills. Then they had long passages to read about topics like science, culture, and current events. They had to answer comprehension questions and summarize the main ideas. The writing section required them to write essays, reports, and other texts displaying their English writing abilities. Whew, that's a lot of work! After a lunchbreak, they came back for the speaking test. My mom and the other test takers had to answer questions from proctors and have conversations demonstrating their oral English communication skills. They also had to give presentations on random topics they picked out of a box. Can you imagine having to give a speech in English about... I dunno... the history of paper clips? So scary! While we waited for mom, my sister and I played I-Spy and counted how many people were chewing on their pencils from nerves (237!). Mom finally came out after what felt like a million years. She looked exhausted but also relieved that the epic test was finally over.A couple months later, the results came out online. My mom got a really high score! She was jumping up and down cheering. With her good grade, she'll be able to graduate from university next year. Then maybe I can hire her as my personal English tutorand she can teach me. I'll be like, "Ok mom, today's lesson is about... video games. In English please!"Isn't the Shandong adult English exam just incredible? I'm sure it was a huge challenge, but it's so impressive that so many grown-ups are going back to get university degrees. They must be super dedicated students. I bet the test writers had to work really hard to make that massive exam too! When I grow up, I'll get to take it myself if I want a bachelor's degree. Maybe by then, they'll let you take it in a video game format. That would be awesome! Imagine having to resolve an English dialogue conflict to stop aliens from invading. "Excuse me Mr. Alien, I don't think you're being very polite. Please leave our planet immediately." Zap zap!Anyways, that's all I've got to share about the 2024 Shandong adult English exam. It was an amazing achievement for so many people across the province. Thanks for reading, and I'll catch you guys next time! Zàijiàn!篇4The Big Adult English TestWow, my big sister is going to take the Shandong Adult Undergraduate English Proficiency Test next month! She's been studying really hard for it. I asked her what it was all about and she said it's a big important test that adult students have to pass to get their bachelor's degrees if they didn't go to university right after high school. She has to do lots of reading, writing, listening, and speaking in English to get a good score. My sister has been taking English classes at night and on weekends for the past couple years while also working during the day. I think it's so cool that even though she's an adult, she's still going to school and trying to get her university degree! When I'm older I definitely want to go to university too and study hard like her.She showed me some practice test materials and they looked really difficult, way harder than the English tests I take at my elementary school. There were long reading passages about science and history topics that looked very confusing and had tons of big vocabulary words I didn't know. The listening sections had recordings of lectures and conversations using all sorts of idioms and slang expressions. I could barely follow along! For the writing section, she has to write different kinds of essays and articles demonstrating she can organize her ideaslogically, use correct grammar, and include precise details and examples. One writing prompt asked her to describe the advantages and disadvantages of working from home versus going into an office. Another had her propose a solution to plastic pollution in the oceans. Those sound like really challenging topics to write a whole essay about in English! Then there's the speaking portion, which seems just as nerve-wracking to me. My sister has to give presentations and answer questions from test graders about hypothetical situations. Like what would she do if she had to negotiate a business contract with potential clients? Or how would she respond if she encountered discrimination at work? She has to speak clearly and coherently for several minutes without stuttering or getting stuck. I'm good at English compared to my classmates, but I don't think I could smoothly give analytical speeches like that yet, even in Chinese!I listened to my sister practice some speaking exercises and she sounded so professional and grown-up, clearly explaining her viewpoints and backing them up with logical reasoning. I was really impressed! I could tell the speaking section tests her ability to think critically and articulate sophisticated ideas, not just basic conversational skills. My sister has been working so diligently to prepare for every part of this huge test. She makes flashcards to master academic vocabulary words, does timed practice reading exercises, transcribes lectures to improve her listening, and outlines essays following all the proper formats and techniques. She'll spend hours on the weekends doing practice tests under realistictest-day conditions. On top of the challenging test content itself, she also has to carefully manage her time, effort and emotions for the long grueling exam day. The reading section alone is gonna take almost three hours! I can't even imagine having to concentrate that intensely on reading, writing, listening and speaking in English for over six hours straight. Just thinking about it makes me tired!I really hope my sister does superbly on the test and achieves her dream of finally getting that bachelor's degree. She has put in so much hard work while juggling her job, family responsibilities, and being a student all over again. I'm rooting for her all the way!If I ever have to take a high-stakes standardized test like this in the future, I'll be much better prepared after seeing my sister's experience. For now as a kid, I'll just keep practicing my Englishvocabulary and skills bit by bit every day. Tests are always challenging, but persistence and positivity can help overcome any obstacle. Just look at my amazing big sis!I'm sure my big sister will pass her big adult English test with flying colors. She's the most dedicated, hardworking person I know. I want to grow up to be just like her: intellectually curious, continually learning, professional yet humble, and committed to self-improvement. I'll make sure to give her a huge high-five and tell her "Awesome job!" when she aces that test next month. Go sis go!篇5The Big Grown-Up English TestHi there! My name is Lily and I'm 8 years old. I go to Sunshine Elementary School in Jinan, the capital city of Shandong Province in China. My big sister Mei is 22 years old and she just took a really important English test called the Shandong Adult Undergraduate English Exam. It's a huge deal for grown-ups who want to go to university as an adult student. Mei studied super hard for months to get ready! The exam happened in July 2024. Mei said there were two main parts - a listening comprehension section and a readingcomprehension section. For the listening part, she had to listen to recordings of people speaking English and answer multiple choice questions about what they said. She practiced listening to English podcasts and videos a ton to get her ears ready. For the reading part, she had to read passages in English and also answer multiple choice questions testing if she understood the main ideas and details. Mei read so many English books, newspapers, and magazines to practice!I asked Mei what some of the passages on the test were about and she said they covered all kinds of topics like science, technology, culture, current events, and more. She had to understand vocabulary from many different subject areas. I looked at one of her practice tests and got confused by words like "pragmatic", "disseminate", and "eschew"! Those are pretty big vocabulary words for an 8-year-old. No wonder Mei had to study so much!In addition to the listening and reading sections, Mei also had to write a timed essay in English on the test day. She showed me some of the potential essay prompts she practiced with, and they were super thought-provoking! One practice prompt asked her to discuss the role of artificial intelligence in education. Another one wanted her opinion on whether social media doesmore harm than good. There were prompts about environmental protection, cultural traditions, and policies related to population growth too. Mei had to write a clear, well-organized essay with good grammar and vocabulary in just 30 minutes! I can't imagine having to write that much in English at my age. While the test seemed really hard, Mei was very determined. She took lots of practice tests from previous years to get familiar with the format and types of questions. She attended an English cram school on weekends where teachers taught all the strategies for success. And of course, she studied English vocabulary, grammar, and reading/listening skills every single night after work. I'm so impressed by her commitment!A few weeks after the big test day, Mei finally got her score report in the mail. She passed We had a huge family celebration with her favorite dumplings, noodles, and braised chicken. Mei was overjoyed because getting a passing score on this exam means she can apply to earn an undergraduate degree through Shandong's adult education program. Her dream is to eventually become an English teacher, and this was an important first step.I'm super proud of my hard-working sister Mei. Even though I'm just a kid, I realize how high the stakes were for this exam. Ittook her months of intense preparation across all English skill areas. But she persevered through all the challenges and long study sessions. Seeing her work so hard and accomplish this major goal is really inspiring for me. Who knows, maybe I'll be tackling a big English exam like this myself one day when I'm an adult! For now, I'll just keep practicing my English skills and hopefully live up to the excellent example Mei set. I love my big sis!篇6The Big Grown-Up English TestHi everyone! My name is Lily and I'm 8 years old. I'm in 3rd grade at Sunshine Elementary School in Jinan, the capital city of Shandong Province. I love learning English and I'm pretty good at it. My English teacher Mrs. Wang is super nice and makes our classes really fun.A couple weeks ago, my dad told me he has to take a huge English test called the Shandong English Proficiency Test for Adult Undergraduates. It's for grown-ups who are trying to get their bachelor's degrees at university, but they have to pass this big important test first to prove their English is good enough. My dad didn't go to university right after high school because hehad to start working, but now that I'm a little older he's trying to finally get his degree.I got really excited when he told me about the test because I love English and I thought it would be fun to pretend I was taking the test too! I made my dad promise to show me all the practice materials so I could get ready. He laughed and said "Okay Lily, if you really want to!" I could tell he thought it was a silly idea, but he still let me look at the stuff. The first thing I saw was that the test has four sections - Listening, Reading, Writing, and Translation. Those all sound super hard for grown-ups! I'm not so good at writing longsentences in English yet, and I've never tried to translate anything before. But listening and reading I can definitely do.For the listening section, you have to listen to recordings and answer questions about what you heard. There are conversations between two people, classroom lectures, radio broadcasts, and all sorts of other audio clips. Some of the questions ask you to get the general idea, while others ask about specific details. My listening skills aren't too bad since Mrs. Wang makes us practice that a lot.The reading section looks really long and difficult though. You have to read passages from textbooks, newspapers, magazines and websites. Then you have to answer questions testing if you understood the main points, the author's purpose, the meanings of vocabulary words, and making inferences. Some of the passages looked soooooo boring to me, like one about economic policies and another about engineering design processes. How could anyone possibly stay awake reading those?! The passages about travel and anthropology seemed a little more interesting at least. For the writing section, you have to write one short composition of about 200 words. The prompts are asking you to state an opinion, describe an experience, or explain the causes or effects of something. You're supposed to organize your ideas in paragraphs and use proper grammar, vocabulary and transition words. 200 whole words?? That's like a million words for a kid! I can barely write 50 words without making tons of silly mistakes. Grown-ups must have awesome writing skills for this part. Then the last section is translation, which seems crazy hard to me. You have to translate separate sentences from English into Chinese, and also a longer passage from Chinese into English. I'm confused how anyone can possibly memorize enough vocabulary and grammar rules to get that right. I definitely couldn't handle that yet! This test lasts for a whopping 3 hours and 15 minutes in total! Just thinking about having to concentrate that long on something so difficult makes my head spin. I have no clue how my dad and all the other grown-up test takers will be able to make it through. So after looking over all the materials, I realized this test is waaaaaaay too advanced for a little kid like me to actually try taking it. But I'm still excited to cheer my dad on and see how well he does! I'll make him a good luck card with English words I know like "You can do it!" and "Fighting!" I know English is such an important skill these days, so I'm really proud of my dad for working so hard to improve his abilities.I'm going to keep practicing English every day by reading stories, watching videos, and listening to songs. Then by the time I'm all grown up, tests like this will be easy peasy for me! Who knows, maybe I'll become an English teacher someday just like my favorite teacher Mrs. Wang. English is so much fun and I want to help other kids learn to love it as much as I do.Okay, that's all for my long story about the big grown-up English test. Let me know if you have any other questions! I'll do my best to explain it in easy words a kid can understand. Thanks for reading, goodbye!。
