第1章上海博物馆上海博物馆(Shanghai Museum)是一座大型的中国古代艺术博物馆，陈列面积2800平方米。
馆藏珍贵文物12万件，其中尤以青铜器、陶瓷器、书法、绘画为特色。
收藏了来自青铜器之乡—宝鸡及河南、湖南等地的青铜器，藏品之丰富、质量之精湛，在国内外享有盛誉。

上海博物馆创建于1952年，原址在南京西路325号跑马总会，由此开始了它的发展之路。

1992年上海市政府作出了决策，拨出市中心人民广场这一黄金地段，建造新的上海博物馆馆舍。
上海博物馆新馆于1993年8月开工，1996年10月12日全面建成开放。
上海博物馆建筑总面积39200平方米，建筑高度29.5米，象征“天圆地方”的圆顶方体基座构成了新馆不同凡响的视觉效果，整个建筑把传统文化和时代精神巧妙地融为一体，在世界博物馆之林独树一帜。
新的上海博物馆设有十一个专馆，三个展览厅。
目前，它正以崭新的面貌迎接着八方来客。
分别设中国青铜器陈列室、中国陶瓷器陈列室、中国绘画陈列室、古代雕刻陈列室。
该馆的“上海博物馆珍藏青铜器展览”、“六千年的中国艺术展览”、“上海博物馆珍藏瓷器展览”、“明清书法展览”、“扬州八怪展览”、“明末文人书斋展览”等曾到香港和日本、美国展出。
