So he, together with an international team of researchers, studied how to reduce loneliness and increase positive feelings during the COVID-19.
According to their new study, reducing loneliness has something to do with doing enjoyable activities that require both concentration(注意力)and skill.
“When people pay attention to what they are doing, they enter a state called ‘flow’,” Dattilo explained. To achieve a state of flow, there must be a balance between the challenge of the task and your skill level. For example, if you’re trying to create a complex computer program but your skill level is low, then you’re likely to feel stressed instead of achieving “flow”. Instead, if the task is too easy, then boredom will set in and “flow” will not appear, either.
If you have artistic skills, for example, playing the piano or painting can lead to flow. So can things like skiing, writing and storytelling, depending on who you are.
“When we enter a state of flow, we become concentrated, and we experience momentary enjoyment,” Dattilo said. “When we leave a state of flow, we are often surprised by how much time has passed.”
However, watching television usually doesn’t help people enter flow, according to Dattilo, because there aren’t any challenges.
“People are going to thrive(茁壮成长)on healthy activities and challenge,” said Dattilo. “We hope this research will help people live fuller, happier, healthier lives.”34.What can we do to reduce loneliness during lockdown according to the study? A.Follow a healthy lifestyle.B.Learn as many skill as possible. C.Do some enjoyable and challenging tasks.D.Complete impossible challenges. 35.Which of the following is the closest in meaning to the underlined word “complex”? Mastering a foreign language is probably a skill that’s in high need. Whether you’re doing international business, social work, or just on holiday abroad, the ability to communicate with anyone in their own language is of great help and importance.
Using AI technology, two famous Japanese inventors have developed a more high-tech language translation device (设备) a timely translator called MUAMA.The translator makes it easier for people to communicate with each other and is widely used in different areas.
Learning a new language takes months, or even years of hard work and practice, while MUAMA can easily translate what you are saying into over 40 languages in quite a short time, using only a few touches of fingers. An experienced human translator is more expensive and must be paid for more than once. But MUAMA requires only a single payment for widely chosen languages, which cost you much less to use. MUAMA is more convenient and simpler because of its lightweight design and small size, and it is also easy to carry around in a pocket or a bag, as well as being there when one needs it. It works well even in noisy and crowded places since it has a perfect sound quality, which is powerful enough to be heard clearly. And text translation service can be used as well.
MUAMA was first created for travelers. With a MUAMA translator abroad you can ask for directions, order a meal, or just have a friendly conversation in 40 different languages! Take your next foreign trip to a whole new level you’ve never experienced before. Language problems should no longer trouble you.
Moreover, it has become popular even among people in other areas. What has amazed us is that more and more international social workers and aid workers, as well as volunteers,
choose MUAMA to make their work easier. After using the translator, people greatly raised the quality of work.

A.Making a plan for a holiday.

40.What do we know about MUAMA according to paragraph 3?
A.It is cheap but inconvenient.B.It is lightweight but large.

Keep It Simple
Four Simple Ways to Better Your Writing
I always say to my student, “Simple done right is better than complicated (复杂的) done wrong.” In other words, it’s better to keep things simple and do it well, rather than over-complicate everything and do it badly.
So, in English writing exams, you want to show off your English, but you want to show off your right English, not all this English that you don’t know or haven’t learnt yet.
Have a Collection of Set Phrases
In order to avoid making mistakes in your writing, it’s a really good idea to have a collection of set phrases and key words that you can use in the exam. Now, you do have to be careful with this. You don’t want to practice what you’re going to write, but you do want to have a nice collection of things and get key phrases prepared. Make sure that you have different ways to…
Compare: in the same way, at the same time
Show effect: as a result, therefore
Conclude: in short, in conclusion, in all
So, that’s just a very brief list showing you exactly what you need to study to be fully ready for any English writing exam.
Reduce Your word Count
Use as few words as possible. Avoid pointless words like “very”, “a lot”. Take the place of them, instead, with a strong word. So, instead of saying “so scared” I would say, “terrified”. By using strong words, you can reduce your word count by a bit.
Another way is avoiding “there is” and “there are”. We want everything to be as clear as possible. Therefore, your writing will get a rapid increase in quality.
Check Your Work
Students will make some stupid mistakes when they’re writing. After being asked to correct the mistakes, they will say, “We already know this. So easy!” and it’s because they don’t check their work.
I personally think it’s much better if you write less and check more. Fewer words, high accuracy (准确率). Then you will make your writing perfect.

本文主要介绍了北京冬奥会羊毛花束的特别之处和制作过程所付出的努力和经历。

30.
细节理解题。

根据“The bouquets (花束) or the awards of Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games quite different as they are made of wool. Wool bouquets are not like those made from other materials that will be easy to fade (褪色) and they’re low-carbon, which shows the idea of‘green Olympics’”可知,北京冬奥会羊毛花束的特别之处在于它们是环保的。

故选B。

31.
细节理解题。

通读全文,尤其根据“Li used to work for a newspaper and magazine. She began to learn the knitting skills in her fifties after retirement.”可知,李曾在一家报社和杂志社工作。

退休后,她在五十多岁的时候开始学习编织技巧,由此可见,李退休前在报社和杂志社工作,退休后她才开始学习编织技巧;根据“Li Meili, a traditional wool-knitting (针织) expert,
can still remember the exciting moment in October 2021, when she learned the wool bouquet was chosen as the final plan for the Olympic Games. ‘At that time, I felt my dream had come time Our design had been provided for the Organizing Committee for more than four months. I once thought it was hopeless,’ said the 70-year-old artist.”可知,这位70岁的艺术家说她们的设计已经提供给组委会四个多月了,她曾经认为她们的设计没有希望了,可羊毛花束却在2021年10月被选为最终方案。

由此可见,羊毛花束被选为最终方案发生在“她认为她们的设计没有希望被选中”之后。

故选D。

32.
推理判断题。

根据“‘Take a rose for example. A worker needs to spend at least five hours on one rose,’said Li. ‘Therefore, to complete making a bouquet will require around 35 hours. All the bouquets will take nearly 50, 000 hours to finish knitting.’”可知,一个织布工至少要花5个小时才能织成一朵玫瑰。

因此,制作一束花大约需要35个小时,编织所有的花束需要将近5万个小时。

由此可推断,制作羊毛花束需要很多努力和精力。

故选C。
