The eye-recognition (眼睛识别)program is already being tested in shops and banks in the USA, Britain, Spain, Italy and Turkey. Soon this technology (技术)will take the place of all other ways of finding out who people are.

Eye-recognition is better than other kinds because your eyes don’t change as you get older, or get dirty like hands or fingers, a nd even twins have different eyes. So the eye-recognition program can be up to 94% correct, depending on how good the technology is. Some programs may only be right 51% of the time. WINTER break! Two whole weeks without homework -two whole weeks of heaven. Two weeks to relax. I imagined myself getting plenty of sleep. I planned on reading "The Giver", which I hadn't had time to read.
But soon I noticed something: I couldn't sleep. It would be 12:30 am and I would be trying to fall asleep. I would begin thinking that I haven't done anything today!
This happened the next night, and the night after. During the day, when I had free time, I would be pacing(踱步) around the room moaning(抱怨) that I had nothing to do! I was eating when I wasn't hungry. I was playing a computer game even though it was boring.
The truth, I concluded(总结), is that relaxation doesn't mean doing nothing. Relaxation means doing something enjoyable. I planned to swim at the local high school. I set up a practice schedule of an hour and a half per day. I decided to read two books that my friend had recommended(推荐) to me. I planned to do a little community(社区) service work, volunteering to help at the nearby old people's home for two hours every day. After doing those things, writing e-mails to my friends, watching DVDs and sleeping 12 hours a day, my days are full. And I'm truly enjoying myself relaxing.
Of course, some of my earlier wishes have come true. Being free from schoolwork has taken a load off my mind, helped me to get in perspective (洞察力) and brought me back in touch with my family and myself. Getting so much sleep has done wonders for my state of mind.
After each past winter break, I haven't been able to say what I did, how I used my time. This winter break will be different. I am relaxing by working.

In crisis, women shop as if addicted(上瘾的)
This may come as little surprise to most people: In times of crisis(危机), women are more likely(可能的)to go shopping than in normal times.
A new survey finds almost half of UK women are frightened or scared by the crisis, and 45 percent felt their financial(财务的)situation had been effected. A full 75 percent said they would be making cutbacks. Yet 79 percent of them said they would go shopping to cheer themselves up.
Of the 700 women surveyed, 40 percent said depression(萧条)was an excuse to o verspend; 60 percent said “feeling a bit low” was a good enough reason.
“This type of spending serves as a way of regulating(调节),” said Karen Pine, a university professor.
The problem is likely not confined to women. A 2006 study in the United States found 6 percent of women have it, but so are 5.5 percent of men.
Pine says this behavior could become more noticeable in a crisis. People use drugs(药物)and alcohol similarly to regulate emotions(情绪), Pine explains, but she thinks shopping is increasingly used by women for this purpose. And, however, worrying about money could lead women to spend more, she said.
“If shopping is an emotional habit for women, they may feel the need to keep spending despite the economic downturn,” said Professor Pine. “Or, perhaps worse still, if they can’t spend, we might see an increase in mental(心理的)health problems such as worry and sadness.” Problem is, the ways of spending money don’t always have the good effect.
( ) 51. ________ women in the survey are more likely to go shopping in times of crisis than in normal times.
A. 40 percent
B. 45 percent
C. 75 percent
D. 79 percent
( ) 52. Some women would like to go shopping in times of crisis _____________.
A. to cheer themselves up
B. to meet their daily use
C. to kill their spare time
D. to store enough food at home
( ) 53. ________ could make women spend more in times of crisis.
A. Using drugs
B. Drinking alcohol
C. Worrying about money
D. Enjoying the feeling of shopping
( ) 54. According to the passage that _________ is NOT true.
A.40 percent said depression was an excuse to overspend
B.this type of spending serves as a way of regulating
C.no men are more likely to go shopping in times of crisis
D.half women in the survey are frightened or scared by the crisis
( ) 55. We can know from the passage that ________.
A.about 700 women were surveyed in the world

I am a student in Grade Nine. We did a survey –“Who should you turn to when you are in trouble”. Here are the results. Most of the students will turn to their classmates or friends when they are in trouble because they’re almost the same age. It is eas y for them to communicate and understand each other. About 5% of the students will tell their teachers or parents about their problems, for the teachers and the parents are supposed to be rich in experience and love. These students believe in them. Only 25% of the students solve their problems all by themselves. They aren’t willing to talk with others.
In my opinion, whenever we are in trouble, we’d better ask people for help who we believe in.。
