China’s Yangtze River is the world’s third longest river. It is home to more than 400 kinds of fishes. And the Chinese paddlefish(长江白鲟) was once common in the Yangtze River. Because of human activity, its number dropped greatly. Scientists could hardly find them. Finally, this past January, a piece of sad news came in: The fish went extinct between 2005 and 2010. “It’s very sad,”said Zeb Hogan, a US biologist(生物学家). “We’ve lost a valuable animal. There is no hope of backing to the old days.”
The Chinese paddlefish was one of the world’s largest freshwater fishes. It could grow to seven meters. It was known for its big nose. For this reason, many people called it the “elephant fish”. The Chinese paddlefish was an ancient kind of fish. It first appeared in the Jurassic period(侏罗纪时期). After lived on the earth for 200 million years, the animal finally went extinct because of human activity.
Started from 1970, humans caught about 25 tons(吨) of paddlefish each year. That mainly caused the great loss of the fish. And in 1981, the building of the Gezhouba Dam(葛洲坝) made the paddlefish become two groups. The two groups could not reproduce(繁殖). What’s more, the Yangtze River was seriously polluted by nearby people. As a result, the population of the fish became smaller and smaller.
Scientists said that many freshwater fish in the Yangtze River are in danger. The Chinese paddlefish was only the first to disappear. Luckily, China has taken action. From January 2020 to 2030, nobody can go fishing on the Yangtze River.

(共5小题,计10分)Twenty years have flown by since pop star Jay Chou released(发行) his first album. However, as “the King of Asian Pop”, his influence seemingly hasn’t faded(消退).
On June 12, the 41-year-old Chou released his latest song Mojito online, along with a music video that was filmed in Havana, Cuba. More than 3 million people bought the song within the first day of its release.
Named after a famous Cuban cocktail(鸡尾酒), the song has a strong Latin flavor(拉丁风情). The song’s rapping vocals(说唱部分) and Latin style are also familiar to his older fans. They love the song, saying that it reminds them of when they were crazy about Chou’s music in their youth. In the video, Chou rides in a pink vintage car(老爷车) with his friends. They are joined by local musicians playing traditional instruments. They explore Havana and visit a bar in Havana. The famous US author Ernest Hemingway used to drink there.
However, some music critics(评论家) think the song is mediocre(平庸的). “Not so bad, not so amazing. Its lyrics and melody(旋律) are typical, so it sounds familiar, but lacks spirit,”said Fangzhou, a music show host for CRI.
Chou once said he would release one album every year. But since 2017, he has released just one song each year. From then on, fans have had four new songs. They have sold well, but received mixed reviews. Some believe that Chou’s inspiration(灵感) has used up. Still, Chou has future album release plans. “If I am going to release something new, it’s going to be an album!”he said.
