ONE Teaching Aims

1.Knowledge aims

Ss are able to recognize “there be” structure as well as its general question form and use them to ask ways and give answers.

2.Ability aims

Ss are able to tell the positions of places with “there be” structure and ask ways and give answers in different ways by creating situations.

3.Emotional aims

Ss can get familiar with their surroundings by exchanging ideas about different places.

TWO Teaching Key and Difficult Points

1.Teaching Key Points: Ss are able to recognize “there be” structure as well as its general question form and use them to ask ways and give answers.

2.Teaching Difficult Points: Ss are able to tell the positions of places with “there be”structure and ask ways and give answers in different ways by creating situations.

THREE Teaching Procedures

Step 1. Lead-in

T shows Ss a map of the school and ask Ss the positions about the school buildings with Where question.

T: Look at the map, what's the place in the map?

Ss: Our school.

T: Yes. It' s our school. There are many buildings in our school. Do you know where they are? Look at the map carefully. Lucy, where is the teaching building?

Lily: It' s in the middle of our school.

T: Yes, great! Who has different answers, any volunteer? OK, Tom, brave boy.

Tom: It ' s near the library and it’s in front of the playground.

T: Wonderful. You’re so careful. Now, what else can we see from the map beside the teaching building, library and playground?

S1: Dinning hall.

S2: Laboratory building.

……

T: So we have dining room and laboratory building in our school. (Write it down on the blackboard). There is another way to express the same meaning. That is “There is a dining room and laboratory building in our school.”(Write it down on the blackboard)【设计意图】

通过展现学校地图引导学生用以前学过的知识对地点进行问答,同时引出本课的语

法点 there be 结构,将知识与实际结合,激发学生的学习热情。

Step 2: Presentation

Teacher makes use of the map and guides Ss to understand “there be” structure.

T: Look at the two sentences and they are of the same meaning. In the second sentence, here is an important structure “there be”. So look at the map again. How many buildings do we have in our school.

Ss: 6.

T: Yes. We have 6 buildings in our school. (Write it down) Also we can say: There are six buildings in our school. (Write it down) Please pay attention to the “are”. Why do we use “are” here?

S1: Because 6 buildings.

T: Great! So the form of “be” is determined by the noun behind it. So who can make sentences with this structure according to the map?

S2: ……

S3: ……

……

T: You have done a great job. Now listen to me carefully, Lucy. Is there an art hall in our school?

Lucy: Yes. There is an art hall in our school.

T: Very good. Jack, is the Teaching Building behind the playground?
