One short sleep past, we wake eternally
And death shall be no more; Death, thou shall die.

This is a sonnet (十四行诗;商籁诗) in Italy. The beginning of this poetry is abrupt, which expresses the scorn and contempt of death. Death is the end of life, many people show extreme fear to death, because they think the death is associated with the dark hell.
For those whom thou think’st thou dost overthrow
Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me.
From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be,
Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow,

However, in Donne's view, there's nothing to be afraid of death. He regarded death as sleep, as the path to "awakening" forever. Death is just from the limited life to the process of the eternity.
