【Goal】
To get the students to warm up and arouse their interest in the topic by stimulating them to speak in public. These activities are designed to lead up to the writing topic and prepare for the following steps.

Step 4 Pre-writing

Play a short video about a scene of drowning. Encourage the students to use as many words as they can to describe what they see in the video.
• Set a new task about giving instructions for another common contingency – drowning.
• Try to expand the instructions above into the form of a formal composition.

• All the language knowledge and language skills of this unit are designed around first aid. • Help students to improve their writing skills by writing a passage about giving first aid. • This period will give the students some moral education.
(First, you should pull the person out of the water and lay him on his back.)
