一.Teaching aims:
1.Can use the words and sentences to talk about festivals of Chinese and Western.
2.Can understand the text and describe Chinese and Western holidays with sentence patterns.
3.Can express and write favorite holidays in English, and make a simple comparison between Chinese and foreign holidays.

Step1. Warm up:
1.Warm up before the class.
2.Greet to all the students.
Step2.Teaching Task 5“Listen,read and tick”
1.Let's have a look at “listen, read and tick”. Let students
get a general idea of the content first.
2.Assign "tasks" to students. Listen to the recordings of listen, read and tick. Pay attention to which two Chinese and foreign festivals are
heard, which two countries are originated from, what legends are there, and how people celebrate them.
3.On the basis of basic understanding, students read the passage further. Reading can be in the form of recording reading, teacher reading, students reading together, or group reading in turn.
4.On the basis of reading the passage carefully, judge whether the sentences a, b and c in the following box are correct.
5.Let students explain the knowledge points of “Listen,read and tick”in groups.Then teacher replenish.At last let students read the knowledge points together.
Step3.Teaching Task 6“Pair work”
1.Divide the students into two groups and write down their favorite holidays.
2.Imitating the sentence pattern in the picture, each group of two people expressed their favorite holidays in turn.
Step4.Teaching Task 7“Read,write and tell”
1.Divide the students into groups. According to the requirements of a, each group inquires about holidays in some other countries and compares them with those in China.
2.Fill in the supplementary form according to the questions in the left column of form B.(Chinese and foreign holidays)
3.Make a clip art. Each group will send a student to represent the whole group to the stage to express the relevant information about the holidays in the clip art (name, origin or country, date, what activities people usually do to celebrate the holidays, etc.)
六.Practice
Task 8“Listen and chant”
1.Play the tape. Let the students listen to “Listen and chant”. After playing the recording twice, let the students pay attention to the pronunciation of the letter combination “th”.
2.Play the tape and ask two students to role play.
Task 9“Things I can do”
1.Divide the students into two groups or several groups to talk and
perform what we have learned in this unit.The dialogue should include the following sentence patterns:
What’s your favourite month?
September is my favourite month.
The Mid-autumn Festival is usually in September.
2.Let students read “September, December”, and then tell us how to pronounce the letter “e” in the word.and then find out some words contain letter “e”.
3.Let students read “October”and “November”, then tell the pronunciation of the letter “o” in the word, and then find out some words with the letter “o” in the learned word .
4.Let students listen to the recordings of these words and ask students to follow them.
5.After that, teacher writes these words on the blackboard, and ask the students to pay attention to the writing order and the position and proportion in the four line grid.
七.Homework
1. Ask the students to copy each word 5 times on the notebook.
2.Let students finish the exercise books.
