What if you had only three minutes to grab whatever you could take from your home and the rest would be lost forever? What would you take?
As the disasters in Japan changed from the earthquakes and tsunamis (海啸) to nuclear radiation (核辐射), many people that have been forced to leave their homes are facing the fact that they may not be able to return for
a long time.
With this in mind, let’s discuss the value of a Bug Out Bag. This bag is a collection of goods that you would need to survive (生存) if you have to escape from your home with no shelter, food or water during the unexpected situations.
A good B.O.B. should include things that are needed for life:
● A sleeping bag, or at least a blanket.
● Drinking water.
● High-calorie, no-cook foods like protein bars, peanut butter, etc.
● First-aid supplies.
● Fire-starting methods, and a small pot to boil water or cook.
● A few basic tools like a knife, some rope, etc.
● Flashlight with extra batteries.
● Cash.
● A digital backup (备份) of all your important documents and family treasures.
You could keep a B.O.B. by the front door, or even have several bags at home, at the office and in your car. This might seem like more than needed to some of you, but just imagine what a difference this kind of preparation would have made to the people of Japan. Then think of the difference a B.O.B. will make if those disasters happen to you.
4. The author asks the questions in the first paragraph to .
A. test the readers’ common sense
B. show the importance of a B.O.B
C. attract the readers’ interest
D. encourage the readers to ask questions
5. What is the main purpose of preparing a B.O.B?

B.O.B. should be as light as possible
B. we can prepare more than one B.O.B
C. a B.O.B. is only necessary for the Japanese
D. a B.O.B. should contain all the valuable things
7. Which of the following could be the best title of the passage?
A. What a
B.O.B. is
B. How to escape from disasters
C. Preparations for outdoor life
D. Dangerous disasters on the earth

Experts say with just a little bit of planning and creativity (创造力), parents can make their children eat healthy foods, and their children will develop healthy eating habits.
A trip to the grocery store with 15-year-old Zarea Adams is an education on healthy eating. She learned her healthy ways at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s Camp Strong 4 Life. She first attended the camp as an overweight 12-year-old.
“By going to the camp, they teach yo u new habits and show you how much sugar or how much fat is in something. It changes the way you think,” Adams said.
Change isn’t always easy. For parents who want to change their kids’ eating habits, Professor Josh Spitalnik said, “Don’t be afraid to fail. The best way to make changes is to make small steps in which you make mistakes and learn lessons.”
One of those lessons could be patience. Dietitian (营养学家) Trisha Hardy stressed, “It takes 10 to 20 times for kids to like a new food. So one of the things is: don’t give up.”
Experts said a healthy plate is one that is half fruits and vegetables. Parents should also watch what their children drink. Most parents know soda water is full of sugar, but don’t realize sports drinks and fruit juices are as well. I t’s best to drink water.
“At the camp, they teach you how to make flavored water. And that’s by using fresh fruit and adding it to your water. I like strawberries, watermelon and pineapple,” Adams said.
Adams is proof that exercise and healthy eating lead to a strong future for a child. “I actually feel healthier and more confident about myself,” said Adams.

13. According to the passage, we can know that Adams .
A. succeeded in losing weight in the camp
B. started to change her living habit on purpose
C. had developed her love for fruits and vegetables
D. refused to take in any sugar and fat after going to the camp
14. What should parents do to change their kids’ eating habits?
① Try to be as patient as possible.
② Be creative and good at making plans.
③ Send their kids to the Camp Strong 4 Life.
④ Keep a watch on th eir kids’ food and drink.
⑤ Avoid providing their kids with too much food high in sugar.
A. ①④⑤
B. ①②④
C. ①②④⑤
D. ②③④⑤
15. It can be inferred from the passage that _____.
A. it is hard for all parents to change their kids’ eating habits
B. all of the grocery stores should tell parents what to buy for their kids
C. it may take a long time for some parents to change their kids’ eating habits
D. kids should be provided with their favorite food and drink to keep healthy
