大学生英文自我介绍演讲稿:思维跨界,演讲成就
Good morning! Ladies and gentlemen, it is my great pleasure to be here today to share my story and experience with you.
My name is Tom, and I'm currently a sophomore at ABC University. During my time at university, I have been pursuing a broad range of academic interests that extend beyond my major in business administration. Specifically, I have been exploring the intersection of different fields of knowledge, or what I like to call "cross-disciplinary thinking."
You see, I believe that innovation and creativity always blossom at the boundaries of traditional disciplines. Just like how different colored crayons can be combined to create a beautiful picture, diverse knowledge can be combined to produce novel insights and solutions.
To put my belief into practice, I have joined several student organizations and competitions that challenge me to think beyond the conventional boundaries. For example, I am a member of the robotics club, where I have to apply my
knowledge of programming, mechanics, and electronics to design and build a functional robot that can accomplish specific tasks.
I'm also a participant in the school's annual entrepreneurship competition, where I team up with students from different majors to create a business plan that addresses a real-world problem. Last year, our team won the second prize with our idea of developing an online platform that connects local farmers with consumers who care about sustainable and healthy food.
Moreover, I have taken a bunch of courses outside my major, such as psychology, philosophy, and media studies. These courses not only broaden my knowledge horizon but also equip me with critical thinking and communication skills that are vital in the 21st-century world.
Now, you might wonder how my cross-disciplinary thinking has helped me in my speech-giving abilities. Well, let me give you an example.
Last semester, I took a course called "Public Speaking for the Digital Age," which taught me how to deliver
effective and engaging speeches using multimedia and interactive techniques. One of the assignments was to give a 10-minute persuasive speech on a topic related to technology and society.
Instead of choosing a topic solely from my business administration background, I decided to combine my knowledge of psychology and media studies to create a more compelling argument. I chose to talk about the impact of social media on mental health and how we can cultivate a more positive online environment.
By embedding relevant statistics, testimonials, and videos into my speech, I managed to capture the attention and emotion of my audience. I also used a poll function on a website to ask the audience for their opinions and feedback during the speech, which made the whole experience more interactive and dynamic.
In the end, I received an A for the speech, and more importantly, I gained confidence and satisfaction in my
ability to apply my cross-disciplinary thinking to a real-
life problem.
Therefore, dear audience, I strongly encourage you to embrace the power of cross-disciplinary thinking, whether you're a student, a professional, or a lifelong learner. Don't limit yourself to a narrow focus of expertise, but rather explore the richness of knowledge and creativity that lies beyond your comfort zone.
Thank you for listening, and have a great day!。
