Teaching procedures
Step 1 Warming up & Revision
1. Greet the class.
2. Show the word cards, ask and answer.
What can you do? I can dance/sing English songs/…
3. Let’s chant.
Dog dog what can you do?
I can run after you.
Panda panda what can you do?...
4. Review the word will by the sentences learnt. Robin will cook today. Ms Wang will be our new Chinese teacher. Ask the Ss to retell the sentences containing will.
5. Play a Snowball game to practice the difficult sentence We’ll have an English party next Tuesday. Learn the new words we’ll & next.
Step 2 Presentation & Practice
1.Lead in. Robin is a robot. But he is very helpful. What can he do?
Guide the Ss to say out the actions what Robin can do. At last, lead out the question What can Robin do for Wu Yifan? Lead the Ss to say Robin can … for Wu Yifan.
2.Practice the key sentence What can you do for …? by transla- ting more sentences. Pay attention to the usage of for.
3. Listen and finish the exercises in Let’s try, then have them
listen again and try to repeat it sentence by sentence. Help the Ss find out the main words or sentences.
4. Lead in the dialogue Zhang Peng and John will have an English party next Tuesday. Read the dialogue on Page38. Then underline the unknown words or sentences. At last, answer the questions below.
A. Is the party on Thursday?
B. What can Zhang Peng do for the party?
C. Can John sing English songs?
D. What can John do for the party?
E. Are they helpful?
5.Check up the answers. Then read and understand the dialogue.
6.Read in roles. Try to translate sentence by sentence orally. Step 3 Consolidation & Extension
1. Read and recite the dialogue.
2. Show the picture of our school and say our school is big and
nice. To keep our school clean is our duty. Talk about what can they do for our school.
3. Show the picture of the 15th Class Meeting. Ask some Ss what can they do for the Class Meeting. Practice the key sentences What can you do for the …? What about you?
Step 4 Summary & Homework
1. Summarize the key points in this lesson.
2. Do homework.
Recite the dialogue in Let’s talk.
