2. Everyone should have a hobby. Hobbies are interesting activities that candirect our creation and energies into something constructive. They're a great
way to relax as they allow us to completely focus on whatever our task may be and then forget our worries. With a hobby you'll never feel bored. What's more, having a hobby gives us something to talk about with others, a skill we can be proud of.
But how do you go about choosing your hobby? With so many kinds of activities to choose from, you can always have an idea for the sort of thing you want to do and then try things in that field. If you’re an outdoors person who wants to make friends, you can pick a sport like football, but if you’re more introverted (内向的),you can consider picking an art form like water-color painting. Also think about whether you want it to be relaxing or exciting when you're choosing a hobby.
At the same time, think about the skill-in some cases you might find that your hobby comes naturally from a skill. Of course if you want to take up many hobbies, then that's even better and you might find that starting one leads toothers. For example, an interest in carracing might lead to an interest in mechanics (机械学).
Don't worry if the hobby you’ve chosen seems to be something that’s beyond you at the moment. Actually, the harder you find it, the more you’re likely to feel a sense of satisfaction when you start to make progress.
Therefore, if it is something you want to do or learn, then no matter what it is, give it a go!
1.What is the first paragraph mainly about?
A.Health benefits of hobbies.
B.Some features of a good hobby.
C.Some tips on taking up a hobby.
D.Importance of taking up a hobby.
2.What should you take into consideration when choosing a hobby?
A.Your favorite sports and art forms.
B.Your communication ability.
C.Your personality and purpose.
D.Your strong and weak points
3.What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A.It's OK to choose something challenging.
B.Making wise choices is necessary.
C.It's wise to start with something easy.
D.A good hobby is a path to a happy life.
3. Often people receive a guitar, mandolin, or some other musical instrument as a birthday or Christmas gift. There's joy everywhere. The giver of the gift knows how much the receiver wants to learn this instrument and the receiver is actually holding it in his hands instead of longing for it through the shop window.
Finding an instructor that fits into a busy work schedule is hard enough, but once you decide on a lesson plan, then you must consider the practice time, how to practice, what to practice—and let's face it...not all people learn something the same way. So in order to learn a musical instrument, how much practice time is enough and what kind of practice is right for you?
There is no set amount of time that anyone should practice a musical instrument. When I was in programming classes, I could have studied nightly for 5
hours each night. It would have taken me years to learn the art of computer programming. Though I'm attracted by the systematic logic of it, my talent is towards another thing. However, on the other hand, if I spent an hour every couple days with a passionate hobby like playing the violin, not only would the time fly quickly...I'd also be learning at a much greater speed since the built-in passion is the motivation for advancement.
So as much as it's important to practice, a step back is to first find the harmonious instrument that fits you as a person; as development of your personality. If you're learning the guitar because it's cool....obviously that's the modern-day mindset, however, you might not be actually linking your talent for musical satisfaction with your most creative advantages you have to offer.
It's been my experience that every person has a certain level of musical talent. My pleasant challenge has been to assist them in this adventure and actually locate their best abilities as quickly as possible. Then and only then can we match learners with instruments and truly begin a fun and exciting walk down the road of happiness and contentment, where music, ability, personality and soul all meet. Once this piece of the mystery puzzle is in place, I've never had to work at motivating
a learner to practice...

6 When ordering food only takes a few minutes using a smartphone, it’s only natural that food deliveries have become part of college life. However, a university in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region is trying to put a stop to this trend on its campus.
On Nov 1, Guangxi University of Foreign Languages banned food delivery services and disposable food boxes, both to its campus and dormitories.
The ban immediately received fierce criticism from the university’s students, as well as internet users. Some complained that the ban made campus
canteens very crowded. “There are not enough seats in the canteen, which forces us to eat standing up or squatting,” a student in the university surnamed Tan told Guangxi Television.
The crowded canteens also mean that extra time is spent dining, which could have been used to nap during the lunch break. Some even complained that the canteen only provides a few dishes, most of which don’t taste so great.
Su Junlv, from the university’s student affairs office, explained that the ban was carried out because off-campus food posed safety risks for students. It’s believed that take-away food had created a serious garbage problem, as there were often a large number of used food boxes found in campus garbage cans after students had finished their meals.
According to Su, the ban was also brought in to help students develop a healthy lifestyle. “While food delivery services bring convenience, they let students form some lazy habits,” Su told Xinhua. “They spe nd a whole day in the dorm playing video games, watching TV soap operas and ordering food online.”
However, in the eyes of Liu Junhai, a professor at Renmin University of China, there are other approaches that universities could take to improve their s tudents’ meal times. “Universities should explore how to improve the dining experience in the canteens, such as the queuing and variety of dishes,” he told Xinhua.

3.According to Su Junlv, the ban is intended to ________.
A.tell the students all off-campus food is unhealthy.
B.rid the campus of used food boxes.
C.force students to spend less time on entertainment.

8. InAmerica, when the eighth graders leave the middle school, they are often worried about moving to the high school. It is a hard time for them, but it can be an exciting one as well. To make it easier, students need to get familiar with their school.
Even though they`ve done this already in the middle school, it`s still important to find where their classrooms are. Most schools take students to the high school for a visit at the end of their eighth-grade year. And, most schools also have a freshman speech for parents and students before the first year begins. Sometimes the main office will give away a map of the school. This can help students and parents to find different places in the school.
One way to know your high school more and make new friends is to join different clubs and sports. Fall activities begin in August before the first day of school. If you are not interested in sports, there are clubs for any interest, such as drama, dance, chess, photography, community service, etc. These clubs allow students from different grades. By joining an activity, students can find new friendship, not to mention improving their chances in future college applications. 9. Schools across the world are trying to come up with solutions to keep students active. Some are replacing traditional classroom chairs with exercise balls or standing desks. At Ward Elementary School in Winston, North Carolina students have adopted a new program that requires riding fixed bikes while reading.
‘Read and Ride’ is the crea tion of school counselor Scott Ertl, who came up with the idea while he was exercising and reading at the gym. Believing it would be a fun way to convince students to become more active, he placed one in the corner of his classroom and encouraged them to use it during independent reading classes.
It was so popular that Ertl decided to add more bikes and offer the Read and Ride program to the entire school. Today Ward Elementary has a dedicated exercise room filled with bikes that can be used by students while completing their daily reading assignments.
Besides making reading more fun, the program also helps students exercise at a comfortable pace without the pressure that comes with regular sports-related activities. It is also a perfect way to release energy during days when the weather is not helpful to outdoor activities.
Most importantly, however, are the program’s academic benefits. A year after Read and Ride was introduced at Ward Elementary School, students actively involved in the program demonstrated an astonishing 83% reading proficiency. Those that had not taken advantage of the exercise bikes tested at a much lower, 41%.
Though the substantial improvement in academic achievement cannot all be attributed to programs like Read and Ride, experts believe they are a significant contributor. That’s because studies have shown that physical activity stimulates(刺激) brain cells and helps prepare it for learning. As word of the difference made by this easy to execute exercise program spreads, d on’t be surprised to find schools across the country adopt “Read and Ride” for their students.

A.Standing desks help school kids focus on their studies.
B.Traditional teaching should be banned in the near future.
C.'Read And Ride' aims to make students healthier and smarter.
D.Kids need release energy during independent reading classes.
10. According to findings of a survey by Citi and Seventeen Magazine, nearly four out of five (almost 80 percent) college students work while attending college, with the average work load of 19 hours per week. But should college students work while at college? Many factors should be considered.
One benefit of working while in college is that it can help build your resume, regardless of whether the job is in your field, according to an article at . "If you're lucky enough to find a job that closely relates to your major, you could get a leg up on the rest of your class once you graduate, because you'll have more experience in your chosen field," according to the article.
Perhaps the most compelling reason for working while earning a degree is the money. While it's unlikely to entirely finance your education through a part-time or full-time job, you can still make quite a dent(削减)in the college bill by working.
But some students prefer not to work while earning a degree so they can focus on getting the best grades. It's true that you'll have more time to stay at school if you don't work, provided you use that time wisely. If you feel like even 10-15 hours a week of work will hurt your grades, then perhaps you should not consider working.
Working a part-time or full-time job can take away time from social activities, according to a You University TV article. "Trying to balance a job and your college studies, and taking a job can cut down your time to hang out with friends," according to writer Dave Potts.
In addition to missing out on hanging out with your friends, working during college could prevent you from attending a number of campus events, such as movies on the lawn or football games. While you may be able to land a job that's flexible, it seems unlikely they'll let you choose your own schedule.
So should students work at college? The decision should be made on a
case-by-case basis. Some students can also thrive in school while working, whereas others can't.
1.The author mentions the findings of a survey in Paragraph 1 to show ________.
A.college students are under great financial pressure
B.it's very common for college students to work part-time

A.Missing a lot of fun at college.

D.Saving a lot of money.
4.What would be the best title for the text?
