Continuation of "On the Farm"
As the sun began to set, casting a golden hue over the farm, we decided to stay a little longer to help with the evening chores. The farmer assigned us the task of feeding the animals.
I took a bucket of grain and walked over to the pigs, who were eagerly waiting for their dinner. Their snouts wiggled with excitement as they devoured the food.
Next, we moved to the barn where the horses were kept. The farmer showed us how to brush their manes and clean their hooves. I felt a sense of accomplishment as I cared for these majestic creatures. The horses seemed to enjoy the attention, nickering softly in appreciation.
After the chores were done, we sat down for a picnic dinner. The farmer's wife had prepared a spread of fresh bread, cheese, and jam, all made from ingredients produced on the farm. The food tasted wholesome and delicious, a testament to the quality of farm life.
As twilight descended, we gathered around a bonfire, listening to the farmer's stories about life on the farm. He spoke of the challenges and rewards of working with the land, and I couldn't help but feel a deep respect for his dedication.
When it was finally time to leave, I felt a pang of sadness. The farm had a peacefulness that was hard to find in the hustle and bustle of the city. I promised myself that I would return, not just to visit, but to learn more about the farming lifestyle that seemed so fulfilling.
