As a junior high school student in China, I have been learning English for several years. English is not only a subject in school but also a useful tool for communication in the global community. In this essay, I will discuss my experience of learning English and the challenges I have faced.
Firstly, I have been learning English since primary school, so I have a solid foundation in basic grammar and vocabulary. However, as I entered junior high school, the difficulty level of English increased significantly. I had to learn more complex grammar structures and idiomatic expressions. Moreover, I needed to improve my listening and speaking skills, which are crucial for effective communication.
To improve my English skills, I have tried various
methods. Firstly, I read English books and articles to expand my vocabulary and improve my reading comprehension.
I also watch English movies and TV shows to improve my listening skills. Additionally, I practice speaking English with my classmates and teachers to improve my pronunciation and fluency.
However, learning English is not always easy. One of
the biggest challenges I have faced is the lack of motivation. Sometimes, I feel discouraged and unmotivated
to learn English, especially when I encounter difficult grammar rules or unfamiliar vocabulary. To overcome this challenge, I try to set achievable goals and reward myself when I achieve them. For example, I will treat myself to my favorite food or activity when I finish reading a book in English.
Another challenge I face is the pressure to perform
well in English exams. In China, English is a mandatory subject in the national college entrance exam, which determines a student's future academic and career prospects. Therefore, there is a lot of pressure on students to excel
in English. To cope with this pressure, I try to stay calm and focused during exams by practicing relaxation techniques and time management skills.
In conclusion, learning English is a challenging but rewarding experience for me as a junior high school student in China. By improving my English skills, I can communicate with people from different countries and cultures and broaden my horizons. Although there are challenges to overcome, I believe that with perseverance and determination, I can achieve my goals and succeed in learning English.。
