19世纪英国作家惠兹里特说一个除了书本
In the 19th century, the British author W. H. Auden was quoted as saying, “The world is a great book, of which those who never stir from home read only one page.” This quote speaks volumes about those who never venture out of their comfort zone and are content with what they know. It’s a reminder that life is meant to be lived and explored, lest we miss out on the many treasures life has to offer.
I too agree with this sentiment and strive to get as much out of life as possible. To me, this means stepping out of my comfort zone and trying new things. I've had plenty of experiences where I thought I was fitting right in and then realized that I was actually quite different from those around me. But rather than recoil in fear, I find it freeing and incredibly rewarding.
Although it can be nerve-wracking and uncomfortable, it's also quite empowering. It’s like learning a new language when you manage to communicate with a stranger despite all odds. That kind of achievement isn't something
that you can experience by simply sticking to the same routine, day in and day out.
Life is filled with endless possibilities and opportunities for learning, but you can only take advantage of them if you stop, look around, and take the time to explore. As I get older, I’m realizing the importance of doing this and making the most of each moment. The world is full of knowledge, beauty, and joy and it’s our responsibility to make the most of it.
Traveling and experiencing different cultures, trying new activities, and meeting new people are all invaluable experiences. They offer us new perspectives and open us up to possibilities we never even knew existed. Auden's words remind us that even if we never venture too far from home, we miss out on what the world has to offer. The only way to truly enjoy life is to get out there and experience it.。
