I recently had one of those days. It started early, with a 6:00 AM alarm that jolted me out of bed. I stumbled to the bathroom, splashed some water on my face, and stumbled back to the bedroom to get dressed. I had a meeting at 8:00 AM, and I was already running late.
I rushed out the door and into my car, only to hit a traffic jam that made me late for my meeting. I finally arrived at the office, frazzled and disheveled, and spent the next hour trying to catch up on the work I had missed.
After the meeting, I had a series of back-to-back appointments, each one more stressful than the last. I had
to meet with a client who was unhappy with our services, a vendor who was late on a delivery, and a colleague who was causing problems for the team.
By the time I finally had a break for lunch, I was so exhausted I could barely keep my eyes open. I ate lunch at my desk, while I continued to work.
After lunch, I had a few more meetings, and then I had
to prepare for a presentation that I was giving the next day. I worked on the presentation until late in the evening, and by the time I finally went to bed, I was too tired to sleep.
I tossed and turned in bed for hours, replaying the
